Hi, do we need to register for the ICO on every day we participate or is it just a one time registry?
22  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: NO MORE FORKING BITCOIN on: August 28, 2017, 12:56:47 PM
As much as I dislike unnecissary and/or out of consensus forks the reality is if Bitcoin cant survive a minority fork its best it dies now letting something more robust take its place rather than 10, 20, 30+ years down the track when many more people rely on it and the detractors will no doubt be much bigger. If it survives, the short term disruption can be a PITA but ultimately it gives it a chance to prove its strength giving sceptics one less thing to worry about bringing new people in and discarding/marginalising some of the ones that are out of consensus.

Why the current pump?

Because if you dont pump before you dump you're just giving away money Wink

Hazzado, is there any proof about 50%? If yes, I'd like to check your source. It's a very important information.

Its no secret, its in the white paper, 50% was locked up for 1 year (October 2017) for future development after that they can release a maximum of 15M tokens every year.

The breakdown is;
10% team
10% business incentives
15% cross business investment
15% TBD

25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Pro on-chain scaling - Cheaper fees on: August 27, 2017, 10:09:36 AM
I don't know if this is of any importance or not but there seems to be a patent pending by blockstreams used "only" as defense. Or so it seems. I dont know how to read this much info so I will pass it to you guys
https://patents.google.com/patent/US20160330034A1/en

Completely a NON-ISSUE for Bitcoin Cash, since Cash is not linking to a side chain (ie: Lightening Network) .

However , rumors are Blockstream will use it to sue Segwit2X and block their fork.

Kind of shows you that Blockstream / Greg Maxwell have been planning a takeover for years now.
LN & Segwit are their take over.

Bitcoin Cash is beyond their ability to control, since it forked before segwit infected the blockchain.

╥Aztek

This is the reason for all the centralize approach to bitcoin upgrade. I'm so happy Libertarian still exist and the ideology of decentralization will not die! No h"hostile take-over" with BCH.

i am astonished that people in crypto do not see what lightning is its the aproche to get a monopol on day to day transactions like giro banking does.

and with that patent pending it does not mean they want to protect there work it means they want to steal the gift satoshi gave the world und the unbanked .

segwit activated, increase blocksize 2mb, lighting network...Look like Bitcoin is becoming more centralized, however, its value remain n increase due to mass market adoption, we dont see this with bitcoin cash, @ least not at the moment.

but what is 2mb ? compared with what needs to be posible if crypto wants to take over visa or all day to day transactions done via cash at the moment ? isnt it a 100 mil tx per second ? and btc can do 3 at the moment ?

This is why both solutions can only be considered temporary, a completely different scaling solution really needs to be offered up to meet that sort of demand (lightning and mimblewimble being a couple of the proposed solutions but not the only ones). VISA averages ~1600Tx/s which would need ~500MB blocks with the current scheme, not really practical if you want to keep things decentralised.

What is claimed is what is important, it is still pending and not yet "granted."

Ive not looked but guessing its something to do with lightning and don't blame them after putting in all the hard work and development time you dont want someone stealing all your code like some do "BCH anyone" and then try ripping you off and taking you out
OMG the plot thickens... Blockstream Corp has taken over BTC...   Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry
Pretty much my thoughts, and BCH as an attempt to maintain the code with increased capacity is chastised for existing by the supporters blind to the infiltration. At least this is what I have gathered so far.

Time to buy back my BCH... blocks are slowing down which means slower new dumps.. I hope.

Note that Blockstream offer all their software patents under the DPL, (modified) IPA, individual licences and have a defensive pledge and that patent is only for sidechains and only in the US. Basically anyone can use that patent but if another group tries to litigate against someone then Blockstream can use it to protect the group(s) using it, if Blockstream ever tried to use that patent "offensively" it would not hold up in court.

Thats very high level because law is not simple but ultimately they are doing as much as they can to keep software development as open and protected from trolls as possible but there will always be people bringing half truths to sell a point like "ermahgerd patent means dey be trying to take ova Bitcoin!!!"

any notice for bittrex exchange?? waiting for news.. have bounty for translate? thx Grin

DNT already added to bitterx, you can find that in the wallet page, withdrawal button is active, just waiting for the deposit button to be activated, I hope within 2-3 days trading will be active at bittrex. Cheesy

Yeh, i just saw right now, so cool.

Dnt to the moon?  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

is there no official statement by bittrex regarding trading of dnt? I mean withdrawal button is active since weeks, that doesnt mean anything unfortunately Sad

Until they get through the compliance review its unlikely we'll hear anything. It either goes well and gets listed or it doesn't, there's not much to say until one or the other happens.

Anyone have thoughts on the next direction in this chart? Seems like we're headed for a mining profitability showdown between these two. Or maybe a simultaneous rise?

http://ztnark.com/bitcoin-fork

Note the the near parity is comming at a time when BTC is getting ~4blocks/hr and BCH is getting ~25blocks/hr, its looking like miners are already starting to switch back to BTC which begs the questions, at parity will the miners jump back to BTC? will they jump back on BCH after the next difficulty adjustment->EDA cycle? or will the "other" miners try and drive the EDA even lower next time hoping 40+blocks/hr will be incentive enough? how long can this last?
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ⚡ [ANN] ⚡ DeepOnion TOR Integrated ⚡ No ICO 🚀 FREE Airdrops 🚀 6th of 40 Rounds on: August 24, 2017, 06:09:48 AM
I want to take an airdrop for me and my wife can i use two different adresses on the same wallet for my mac!
We have to wait first untill the registration get openend again! But maybe deeponion has builded a security in the wallet that if 2 adresses of 1 wallet take part it will kick out both because it looks like only 1 person is getting 2 airdrops?

i am betting you would get blacklisted before the second regestration is over. but that is just me

So better to use 2 different wallets on 2 different laptops!

Even that same IP will be detected and considered as cheating. The dev is very strict in detecting cheaters...

I agreed with you that the two accounts will broadcast thesame IP address and this will be considered a cheat, it is better to use different devices if he truly want to join the airdrop campaign

Just a quick question, how about the same family members, for example, husband and wife, brothers, sisters, like that??
using different laptop? or different devices?
two accounts using same IP are not equal to two accounts used by same person

You know what's the funny thing about your discussion guys?! That this discussion is taking place on DeepOnion thread which is funny. It looks like you don't know what TOR network is about, because if you did you didn't even thought to start this discussion in the first place. I dont want to be rude but in the essence this is DeepOnion.
I would like to get an account for my uncle bob too...he just happens to live upstairs, and shares my internet. I can say this, my wife knows nothing about DeepOnion, or crypto in general for that matter. I doubt many of our wife's are breaking down our doors to signup.

well different case by case... and if you happen to marry a woman with 3 engineering degrees and programming for years...
and if she happens to work as blockchain developer for a tech company,
should you set up a separate internet?

If such is the case, she should have already given you the answer to this question. No. It's not OK.

bwahahahahahahahaha lol

I would have thought flatmates would be the obvious example Tongue

Blockstream threatening legal action against segwit2x due to Segwit patents. All competing software now requires their consent. BCH is the only way forward. (self.btc)

submitted 11 hours ago * by livecatbounce

"decisive action against it, both technical and legal, has been prepared."

https://lists.linuxfoundation.org/pipermail/bitcoin-segwit2x/2017-August/000259.html

"Blockstream having patents in Segwit makes all the weird pieces of the last three years fall perfectly into place":

https://falkvinge.net/2017/05/01/blockstream-patents-segwit-makes-pieces-fall-place/

...

A couple of points here;

Eric Lombrozo is not part of Blockstream.

Blockstream offer all their patents under the Defensive Patent Licence v1.1.

The threat Eric is making is only if they refuse to implement replay protection not because they want to fork to Segwit2x.

So far I haven't seen any patents pertaining to Segwit only one regarding sidechains (which again is covered by the DPL) and as far as I can tell is still pending and only registered in the US.

I really wish we could vote on here to ban certain people from the community. Sick of people coming on here to just FUD and spam. If you think its such a bad coin why even come on here to tell us over and over again. Do you think you are some kind of Saint or Savior of us all. Go away and let us grow strong as a community with DAS.

I can reply as I wish. . . dev is a scammer, slowly dumping his coins. If not for MAX LEE. . . this coin won't be worth a sh*T.

vergegod and others with similar statements without proof,

If you make a statement like that, PLEASE show the proof. What wallet(s)? Amount(s)? Dates? Not converting some DAS at high from dev fund/premine to BTC for site and exchange expansion? Paying bounties or donations for contributions? Are you making statements based on opinion or FACT? Proof please. Do you have some unique insight and information to justify such a statement?

I've reviewed the Explorers and richlist/wallet distribution and have found no activity in the past few weeks to justify your statement. OR prior ones like yours that have intentionally manipulated the DAS market to lows so day traders & shorts can buy, pump, dump and repeat. Opinions are fine (ie, IMHO). But statements like that require FACTS and PROOF.

Thank you.

Yea and how funny all the positive comments are from a "NEWBIE" account.  Shocked Shocked Shocked
Why are you even posting on here. What is you point? If its a scam then who cares. That shouldn't concern you.

I keep 'bumping into' this thread and I have to agree with this sentiment, if you have a query or some information whether it be for or against the project, post it but if you're just going to sling s*** without taking the time to find something to back it up just find something better to do.

I just felt like posting that because the same thing applies to any coins thread, I see so many pages of just rubbish in these forums it gets tiring after a while, personally what I see here doesn't make me comfortable to invest and I have my opinions but I'm not going to throw any accusations around without anything to back them up... on the other hand after reading pages of bipolar ranting from sunny(something) I kinda feel like pumping this just to piss him off Tongue

You obviously do not know about his last project do you? Everyone was like lets give him another chance, and look what we got. . .

how freaking hard is it to fork a DASH code base and change around some code? It's about time you guys get real.

That been said, I got in twice and made some profit. So in a way, the volatility of DAS is a good thing. I will buy back at 0.06 cents again.

Like I said, what I see doesn't make me comfortable to invest but the point you are missing is that instead of hanging onto something you dislike and continuing to put money in to, why not just move on to greener pastures. Its not worth getting upset over Wink
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Pro on-chain scaling - Cheaper fees on: August 23, 2017, 01:46:40 AM
People are saying it is taking a very long to transfer BCC BCH. Has anybody transferred today? How long is it taking? What type of fees is being charged?

Fee is still cheaper than dirt. It's taking longer to transfer BCH because difficulty increased on BCH at the same time difficulty dropped on BTC. So the difficulty is higher and the available hashpower is lower, double whammy.

Compare that to a day or two ago when BTC's mempool was flooded, all kinds of people had transactions stuck, even with the increased hashpower it is still flooded.

I believe that eventually BCH will become the dominant chain simply because it is more profitable for the dominant traders if it replaces BTC. It's also the better technology but people will debate that all the way up until it becomes the economic reality that BCH is preferred and that they must adapt. Even after the flippening people will be jilted that they were cheated unfairly although it was ultimately their own choice not to hold onto their BCH. People are being suckered into parting from their share dividend, or rather, selling their BCH which is the actual share and holding the dividend which is the segwitified-BTC.

You are absolutely right that it's taking longer and longer to transfer BTC and fees are going higher. The most recent pump with BCH was most likely manipulated to pull as many of the miners away from BTC as possible. I know people that don't want to send BTC because of the fees going too high. How will Segwit effect the fees? It is a civil war that is destructive on both fronts when BTC is already making plenty of self-destructive decisions.

Based on current figures Segwit will be enough to empty the mempool which will return fees to a more reasonable number. Thanks to the miners moving off BTC for a bit that will also be slightly accellerated as the difficulty drop and miners switching back will likely mean blocks will come in slightly faster than targeted for the next adjustment period.
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Pro on-chain scaling - Cheaper fees on: August 22, 2017, 06:15:39 PM

The fact that it says 300% must be a capped limit because it should be closer to a 600% increase but there is a maximum the difficulty can increase we will find out in a couple of hours what exactly will happen but expect miners to jump back over to BTC and a day or so after the bitcoin difficulty will drop a bit making it even more profitable

Someone wrote earlier in this thread that it's capped at x4, so current difficulty plus 300% is the same thing.

Ah yea that is correct.

Code:
if (nActualTimespan < nTargetTimespan/4)
        nActualTimespan = nTargetTimespan/4;
if (nActualTimespan > nTargetTimespan*4)
        nActualTimespan = nTargetTimespan*4;

No more than 4x and no less than 1/4x

This guy wrote
100 blocks until #BCH +300% difficulty retarget. Miners fearing drop in BCH price should switch to #BTC now.
http://fork.lol/pow/retarget

https://twitter.com/ponli137/status/900045983417065474

Is this right? #BCH +300% difficulty retarget

I dont understand what it mean, (bch goes up or down?) ... sounds important

It means that Bitcoin Cash will be 300% more difficult to mine and be much much less profitable and will make BTC over twice as profitable

I think it works by "intended time to retarget (14 days)"/"actual time to retarget (~2.6 days)" so that would be ~5.3-5.4x increase in difficulty.

wtf need a hour to send bitcoin now ? and few mins to send bitcoin cash , what happened ?

See how much the average time to mine a block in minutes on BTC has shot up over the last 7 days
https://data.bitcoinity.org/bitcoin/block_time/7d?f=m10&t=l

This is because of the decreasing hash power on the BTC chain with (not-yet) changed difficulty level:
https://data.bitcoinity.org/bitcoin/hashrate/30d?c=m&g=15&t=a

This would be a recipe for disaster if that trend of miner defecting continue after the next difficulty adjustment.

Excellent site, thanks for posting this. Anyone know how the profitability would compare it BTC diff goes down -1% and BCH goes up 500% (assuming all else remains equal)?

http://fork.lol/ give an estimate after BCH difficulty adjustment (in a few of hours) taking into account block rewards and fees too (assuming all remains the same), ~2.45x in favour of BTC, of course then you have the miners moving back to BTC and the BTC difficulty adjustment of something like -8% IIRC shortly after that which isn't taken into account in that, of course Segwit and faster blocks will also help empty the mempool in turn lowering fees so that will bring BTC profitability down a little too.

I also even think dnt will be on bittrex but someone corrected me, here's an official statement from bittrex about dnt listing

https://support.bittrex.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001026692-Statement-on-mistaken-district0x-Network-Token-DNT-listing

DNT is not confirmed as going on Bittrex yet but they will be going through the compliance review process.
