21  Other / Off-topic / Re: Quick checks for low blood pressure. on: March 14, 2020, 11:58:31 AM
I did say that it shouldn't take more than a couple of seconds. It is about one second for me.
22  Other / Off-topic / Battery electric mower fighting on: March 14, 2020, 11:57:05 AM
This seems to be a new sport. The idea seems to be to kill the other guys mower, and to keep yours still able to cut grass. People seem to want to fight with, or race, virtually anything. Smiley
23  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Friday the 13th unlucky for Bitcoin too! on: March 13, 2020, 09:58:32 AM
I'm not superstitious, so I'll just buy a few blocks of 666 Satoshi. Smiley
24  Other / Politics & Society / What is the sense in forcing planes to fly without passengers on: March 13, 2020, 07:46:43 AM
I understand that air lines have to use at least 80% of their traffic slots, or they will have them taken away from them. As nobody wants to fly because of the virus, it means that the planes are flying empty. That can't be good for the environment, or for the profits of the company. They should be able to reduce their obligations, or maybe they should use the flights to carry freight.

Mentour pilot talks about ghost flights in this video -

25  Economy / Speculation / Re: btc dropping more then 39% in 24/h - on: March 13, 2020, 06:08:51 AM
The virus is just the pin that pricked the bubbles created by the reserve banks. We have never had bubbles of the current sizes, and the collapse is being manipulated by various powerful elites. It is difficult to know who will win. The fiat currencies are likely to revert to their true values of zero, but this could be a slow process. What is obvious is that we should be buying hard assets to preserve wealth, and I believe that Bitcoin is a hard asset.
26  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Coronavirus: International Updates on: March 13, 2020, 06:00:27 AM
I don't believe that the simple reporting of numbers is very useful. What we need to know is the cause of death in people infected with the virus, and their health history before contracting the virus.
27  Other / Off-topic / Re: If you are 1 of the 500,000 who live thru Coronavirus... on: March 13, 2020, 05:55:56 AM
As women seem to be more likely to survive than men, I'm not sure I want to be drawn into my activities in a world that is predominantly populated by women. Smiley
28  Other / Off-topic / Re: Quick checks for low blood pressure. on: March 13, 2020, 05:52:46 AM
How about tips for detecting high pressure?

High blood pressure is a different situation, and a bit more complex. High blood pressure is the body trying to reoxygenate muscles and other organs in the body, and I believe it is essential to discover the cause of the high blood pressure. It is not a disease in itself. For example, if you run for a mile, then you will have high blood pressure until you recover from the exercise. It can also be caused by blocked arteries, and if you suspect you have high blood pressure without any obvious reason, you should check it with a sphygmomanometer There are a few symptoms and Google lists these -

Severe headache.
Fatigue or confusion.
Vision problems.
Chest pain.
Difficulty breathing.
Irregular heartbeat.
Blood in the urine.
Pounding in your chest, neck, or ears.

They used to add aluminium and fluoride to the tap water in England.

Whoops sorry! Please pretend that it was Jet Cash who made this post. Smiley
30  Other / Off-topic / Fresh food supermarket shopping in the current virus insanity. on: March 12, 2020, 04:18:09 PM
Whilst supermarket shelves are being denuded of loo tolls, tinned tomatoes, soap, and other non-perishables, the fresh food seems to be being ignored. I've just bought some boxes of 12 free range eggs for 10 pence, and yesterday I bought a load of stuff including easpberries for 12 pence per box, and family sized boxes of mushrooms for 9 pence. The cost of living is extremely low for me during this virus pndemic..

I'm tempted to start a few cooking threads about low cost meals.
31  Economy / Speculation / Alternative to coinbase pro for the UK on: March 12, 2020, 11:16:32 AM
I was going to buy a few Satoshis, and I missed the last wick down. I've been trying to deposit funds into my Coinbase account, and they keep asking for more info. I've done the multi-factor authentication, sent them my driving licence image, and now they want me to enable my camera after writing some bullshit message.Well I haven't had a shave for about 3 months, so they will probably reject that image.

Is there another exchange that is as convenient for market markets as Coinbase Pro used to be? Include your affiliate code if you want me to sign up using it.
32  Other / Politics & Society / The US should abandon its position as the No1 oil producer on: March 12, 2020, 10:35:26 AM
It No1 slot is based on environmentally damaging and uneconomic shale oil extraction. Continued production will require considerable support for toxic debts, and the money should be used to support profitable industries. It can't compete with Russia, Saudi or even Venezuela, and it is losing its influence with the major producers.
33  Other / Off-topic / Quick checks for low blood pressure. on: March 12, 2020, 10:16:34 AM
If you stand up quickly, and don't feel dizzy, then your blood pressure is probably not dangerously low.
Another check is the capillary refill time. This check should be done when your hands are not cold. Place your hand flat on the table, and press down on one of your nails for a couple of seconds. When you remove the pressure, the nail will appear white, but should return to a pink colour fairly quickly. It shouldn't take more than a couple of seconds.

This is a quick health tip from Kuffy. I'll post some more if people are interested.
34  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Tax rebates to reflate the economy. on: March 11, 2020, 10:47:47 AM
My idea is to reflate the economy, and to help the working population. I guess it is my version of helicopter money, and will provide general growth, and not just the expansion of the super yacht industry.

A wealth tax can't work when the world's richest people don't even appear in the rich lists.
35  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / PETER SCHIFF is wrong again on: March 11, 2020, 06:00:38 AM
Most people don't realise that a few virtual assets can be hard assets, and Bitcoin is possibly the only virtual money ( note I didn't say currency) that has this possibility. Another virtual asset that has this attribute is a novel. It doesn't exist anywhere, but has a variety of manifestations, but ownership can be a valuable asset.
36  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stock Market took a huge dive, Cryptocurrency follows on: March 11, 2020, 05:51:40 AM
We are in a completely new world. Stock markets are no longer based on fundamentals, but based on the activities of the central banks, and people are starting to realise that. The market started to tank over the corona virus and the oil wars, and that created a bear squeeze. Speculators are having to sell their safe haven assets to cover themselves, and this has affected the price of gild, silver and Bitcoin. These movements can create their own secondary bear squeezes. It looks as if it is another great time for the acquisition of safe haven assets like Bitcoin. Just make sure you get your timing right.
37  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Don't buy facemasks for the coronavirus! on: March 11, 2020, 05:43:09 AM
You have to be careful with the Guardian - it pushes many of the globalist projects, and is often inaccurate. For example, current versions of the virus are not aerosols. They don't mention ACE-2 receptors, and the increased risk from smoking ( which increases the ACE-2 receptors). No mention of gloves being better than face masks either. It doesn't mention the simple remedy of increasing the effectiveness of your immune system by drinking hot water ( other other hydrating drink). Increasing your body temperature by one degree doubles the effectiveness of your immune system.
38  Other / Politics & Society / Tax rebates to reflate the economy. on: March 10, 2020, 11:47:30 AM
Governments are constantly trying to reflate economies by rewarding the bankers. This may help the yacht builders, but it doesn't really help the bulk of the population. I've always thought that the simplest way to rebuild an economy is to provide an earned income tax refund. If they based it on earning from the tax period of a couple of years ago, and restricted it to people who are current residents, then that should benefit the most important part of the population. A 10% refund would be cheaper than supporting the failing banks and stock markets.
39  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should the Crypto Community Be Worried About the Oil Crash? on: March 10, 2020, 11:07:35 AM
The US sanctions were supposed to weaken Russia, but in fact it made Russia stronger. The Corona Virus has messed up a lot of global commerce. and this includes travel and transport, which has led to a reduction in demand for oil. OPEC tried to limit production to maintain the higher prices, but Russia has seen it as a chance to hit back at the US, so they refused. WTI is now trading at $31, and Russia's production costis around $20, so they are still making a profit. The US shale oil ( fracking ) production costs are around $72, so they are making a loss, and starting to default on loan interest payments. This will hit the derivatives market in the US, and has contributed to the drop in stock prices. This created a bear squeeze, and speculators are being forced to sell hard assets to cover their obligations. This accounts for the pause in the rise of gold and silver, and could be an explanation for the drop in the price of Bitcoin. One could take this as an indication that Bitcoin is becoming a hard asset, and this is bullish in the long term.

I'm watching the support levels, and waiting for the hockey stick rise that I believe will happen to gold, silver and Bitcoin some time this year.

I'm not a financial analyst, so check my statements before you make any investment decisions.
40  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are we going to see another PANIC on: March 09, 2020, 02:42:17 PM
There is a long term channel that Bitcoin has never broken the lower bound, apart from a few wicks. At the moment it is still above that, so there would appear to be no cause for panic. Bitcoin by its very nature is highly volatile, but it keeps strengthening its base for wealth protection in my opinion. Just make sure you buy sensibly.
