21  Other / Off-topic / Re: nootropics? on: August 31, 2011, 01:13:06 AM
I find it an interesting topic, but I'd like to see some good peer-reviewed studies on the effectiveness of some of these things, as well as the long term side effects.
It seems to me that many people just pop a variety of pills of varying dosages and experiment on themselves in a haphazard way.
While you'd think personal experience - ie 'what works for me' would be a good guide - I'm not so sure.  I know from my own experiments with diet that it's very hard to draw valid conclusions as there are so many variables.

The only things I take that are remotely nootropical are caffeine (tea, coffee, chocolate) and nicotine.  I don't smoke - I just occasionally take a nicotine tablet (supposedly to help quitters -lol) as a mild mental pep up and general stress reliever.

I would like to know about the brand name of the nico tabs, I wouldn't mind having some of those.

You are certainly right about not being too many peer reviewed studies, I have learned most of what I know of them from IMMST, bodybuildingforum, anabolicminds, 2nd hand exp. and first hand.

Vlad is probably one of the most no nonsense guys here, him and Nefario would probably make a great team.
23  Other / Off-topic / nootropics? on: August 31, 2011, 12:21:26 AM
Sup, any of you use nootropics?

I like em, I take pure choline bitartrate quite often,
I also take 1,3 dimethylamylamine, sure it's a stimulant and not exactly a nootropic but I like the extra oomph oomph oomph! XD

Racetams are cool too, oxiractam to be precise, but idebnone, is so good man.

choline bitartrate and ideb I rate.

This is great! for the forum business to get donator status,
so you don't have to talk to them, unless they each come up with 10BTC.
which is very very unlikely.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=38071.0

Think about that and smoke it.  Lips sealed

You won't ever have to hear anything from them, unless you look in gen pop, because they will never donate.
So you get protection from the unwashed masses.  Wink

Just 10 BTC, you get your own VIP entrance away from all of SA.
You assume goons don't have BTC's? LOL that's where you're wrong...

if that were indeed so, you somehow think they would ever use them to get into the VIP?
What would be the point??

I think we could safely say or even guarantee the VIP is completely free of SA.

+1    Smiley

I'm curious what kind of protections are or might be instated to gen pop.
If I'm going to donate I should probably get some kind of protection along with my status, since I'm paying taxes.

Free from the scourge of the land, just 10 BTC.

Just 10 BTC, you get your own VIP entrance completely away from all of SA.

Sounds enticing doesn't it??

10BTC, no trollers, no spammers.

What kind of music you listen to, is it full of discord and noise?

Who doesn't like Alanis Morissette?

29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANNOUNCE] SolidCoin - new and improved block chain. Secure from pools on: August 30, 2011, 02:40:28 PM
Remind me again, how many people own solidcoins?
There are 701 users on the bitparking exchange with a balance of solidcoins greater than zero. It doesn't give an indication of actual users since they'll be people who don't use the exchange, and people who have withdrawn their solidcoins so the exchange doesn't hold it, but it may help gauge the size.

Falls a bit short of CoinHunter's claim that "10,000 people own solidcoins".  I'd really like to know how he extrapolated the other 9,299, but he seems reluctant to say.

This guy sure knows how to beat a dead horse.

You would think a guy trying to solicit business would be more professional.
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANNOUNCE] SolidCoin - new and improved block chain. Secure from pools on: August 30, 2011, 01:22:36 PM
By the way CoinHunter, I0coin was recently revived with a 90 second block rate.  You'd better switch to 30 second blocks before it eats your lunch.

The mere fact you think lower = better with no end shows your ignorance.

BTW the 90 second block thing was a troll done by artforz to guarantee more blocks on his FPGA miners. By copying SolidCoin and just changing that  he has now ensured i0coin won't go beyond a pump-n-dump. But you probably knew that already with your big brain there... Smiley

I'm going to watch i0coin very closely, so I can MAXIMIZE PROFIT from the 3 i0coins I have.  Grin

35  Economy / Speculation / Re: Here we go again, another major price drop for bitcoins on: August 30, 2011, 11:13:00 AM
I would like to add that I'm very certain that just like in the poker world, there are traders that think they are making money but actually aren't, in the long run. There are serious poker players around who manage to break even in the long term or even lose. It's not only amateurs that lose, small time pro's can think they are better than they actually are.

I certainly don't have any data on beating the Bitcoin-market, I'm just trying out occasional trading with small volumes and even my own results are so short-term yet that it's pointless to even speculate if I'm doing well or not. But there are serious players out there and most of them aren't there for long if they don't think they can beat it.

I think it's ridiculous and ignorant as hell to think there aren't traders who beat markets in the long run, in fact it's fairly certain that there are successful traders in pretty much every market possible. I only understand a little something about trading but this is already very clear. Thinking otherwise is just as stupid as thinking that poker is a game of luck and you can't beat it.

You only way to make real money here is if you are the person handling the monies or clairvoyant.
Meaning if you have enough volume you can completely overtake any exchange.
The last indication of proof I noticed was 21K in BTC the other day.
I wish I was better at clairvoyance.  Tongue

O.o are you agreeing with me or what are you doing exactly? XD
I don't dislike Bruce at all, though I don't think it was beneficial to him mentioning his sexual preference in the mybitcoin apology episode. As an observer I am led to assert that was the root of all of this, and the Thailand thing a negligible direction.

I too believe thats the problem. All the attacks started when Bruce said publicy that he was gay.

I'm going to pm you real quick.
I don't need a reply, it's just a simple statement.
37  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: TED discussion - Bitcoin - Commerce without Borders on: August 30, 2011, 10:44:29 AM
TED talks are often about obvious common sense ideas, but most folks are not freethinkers. They don't understand simple ideas because they are brainwashed by society. Humans are animals. Animals don't need money and they live just fine. The concept of money is religious. Money exists only to people who believe in it. This is not a discussion about economics, just a fact that we are animals. Don't blame TEDsters for not accepting bitcoin. Bitcoin is a grassroots movement. Most people respond to authoritative religious movements because they are not freethinkers. It's like trying to argue that catholics are better than protestants. Bitcoin is just another money system to try and will eventually fail, but may work well for awhile. Time will tell.

All of that you wrote is opinion, full of cognitive dissonance.
Do you even know what "cognitive dissonance" means? Can you point out one example here that isn't fact or where I contradict myself?

I can't justify teaching you the inner workings of societal clauses, manifestations of macro-level decisions and the thought patterns that provoke those intricacies upon an entire populations.
Reasoning is only as strong as your logic provides it to be, therefore reasoning without solid logic backing it, is completely baseless. I can't possibly continue this with you without some form of benefit to myself.
What kind of music you listen to, is it full of discord and noise?

No one should be treated like this guy is being treated.
It should not be allowed.

Which is what I'm trying to say, but I'm only a mod, not admin.

I think it's clear that Bruce isn't going to be involved in the next big bitcoin conference, and allowing this to drag on is damaging to the bitcoin community. And he can be ignored if he does make any claims.

I just think this kind of activity is wrong and shouldn't be continued, and those pushing it (the_duke, makomk, wolftaur) should be temporarily banned or blocked from posting.

I got banned 7 days for much less.
(I'm not really sure what I got banned for, I'm pretty sure I hit multiple fronts in one way or another and admittedly on purpose.)

I personally cringe when people of some note publicly start talking about their alt sexual prefs, but no one should be allowed to treat another human being in the manner Bruce is being treated. It's bad for business and everyone involved.

It shouldn't be tolerated.

Hear, hear. I'm not a Bitcoin show fan- it's boring to me. I'm not a Bruce fan, although I am very comfortable and entertained talking to him the other night on the phone while he was in Japan-- no warning signs of any kind. What he does in private (or even in the past) should stay there I think unless it's something that is detrimental to the world.

What if someone on this forum owed money on child support and also wanted to start their own exchange in India? Does that mean they shouldn't be listened to, no one should visit their exchange, etc? It's really vaguely starting to make sense when I remember all the arguments as to why libertarianism "wouldn't work in the 'real world'*"-- people are asshats and ruin it for themselves and everyone else. Sad

*(I have no personal opinion about libertarianism at this point and time. Still learning.)

O.o are you agreeing with me or what are you doing exactly? XD

He could learn something from you, you should advise him on how to work with people.
