21  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is a NODE on: March 27, 2015, 03:47:30 AM
The most basic I can think of is they keep the blockchain going. The more nodes the more security for BTC.

With a little googling here is a little more in depth: https://bitcoin.org/en/full-node#what-is-a-full-node

So it is kinda like a server that host the bitcoin network? Thanks for the link btw.

Not a problem at all.

In a way yes.  They keep the history or the blockchain from beginning of bitcoin to present.   When you spend BTC it is broadcast to these nodes that make sure it is a valid transaction.  Valid meaning the address really does have BTC to send, and also that they are not sending it to multiple places at once (double spend).

This is part of the reason you wait on conformations with sending BTC.  It slowly moves through the nodes.

So when you have a local wallet with the block chain on it is your pc becoming a node? or is it just so you have the option of making the node in the future?

Could someone explain to me what a bitcoin network node is and what it does in layman's terms?

I would like to have skill based games not only random number generated ones. Of course PvP only. Implemented with flash or something like than where I could bet my money on my win against some other people.

I assume you mean like mini games that two people play and the winner takes the money?

Hi I just checkout the site, it looks pretty good and works well. The chat looks like it needs some work with the blank messages and the scroll bar at the bottom of it that serves no purpose. Once they are fixed you might have you self the gambling site with the best design out there. Keep up the good work!

Wouldn't it just be smarter for the person lending just to do it them self?

its not coz its a most likely a ponzi cloud mining company, so lending to him or doing it by yourself might not be a wise call.

I meant that in the event that this person is investing in a well establaished company it would be smarter just to invest your own money and keep all the profits.

You could do a pvp betting site and then take a percentage of the the winnings like 1-5 percent so that 50 percent of the people are always winning like you mentioned.

Why dont we start a P2P everything!!!!  Jesus christ, this p2p in the end will be our downfall

My idea was for pvp not p2p it would put to players against each other with the site acting as a middle man, not a p2p betting network although that would be interesting if it could be done securely.

30  Economy / Gambling / Re: Sports betting vs dice betting on: March 25, 2015, 12:06:46 PM
To be honest you will lose in the long term with dice that is just how it works. Sports could be more reliable if you have in-depth knowledge about the game.

in long term i may loose in dice but in sports even one day of bad picks is enough to pack you back.

IMO sports betting would also be more fun that dice because if you watch the games you bet on it is more exciting because there is something on the line. But don't risk more than your willing to lose.

It annoys me that the bad products get all the attention! I wish that the companies that make the good products like senheiser and shure would get some attention so people could actually find a taste for good audio quality.

36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC good investment? on: March 23, 2015, 09:16:47 PM
Current LTC price is low, because people with ASICs are selling it low. This is one of the main reasons. Other main reason are scams (from which Bitcoin suffers as well). People are distracted for a coins with "innovations". Just look on the posts when some new coin is launched. Almost everyone is asking for innovations and roadmaps. Most of the people are saying: "Nah, LTC is old.. go for "anothershitcoinwithfancylogoandpromises" and get rich in 2 days.". This is going to change sooner or later. We are not in November/December 2013 and people will understand that cryptocurrencies exist because of the coins mentioned above. Yes, there will be couple of more which will slip through with them, but most of the rest will just die, because people are launching/following them only because of the fiat they can earn. Those people don't love cryptocurrencies... they are after the money. When you are doing business you need not only thinking about the profit, but to take care your "baby" as well.

innovation or bust trust  Wink   (just a hint to why litecoin will likely outlive most other cryptos if they go mainstream).

This is a problem where people are just mining when there is hype surrounding a coin so they can make a quick buck. If people cared about the coins they would stick around, look at dogecoin that thing blew up was all over the news and everything and look at it now it is way smaller than it once was.

What the hell, 1800$ from 20 bucks is 90x your bet, about 1% chance of doing that. Congrats man, but think about it as only 20$ lost, not 1800$ lost, because you only put in 20$. You should have pulled out at 1800 tho...

If i would gift you a million dollars and you would lose it on dice - you would still lose a million dollars, not 0$
If you gift me a million dollars, i double it to 2 million, then lose, I would still have lost out of my pocket 1 million because thats what I started with. Gifting is slightly different but its the same thing as making your own deposit.

I'd say yes and no.  I agree with you guys about the fact that I lost 1 million dollars in this scenario.  However, what if I wasn't allowed to take that money home with me?  (Some sites offer free money but no cash out unless you do a x3 rollover gambling it, eg).  And, even if I can cash it out, there's a real difference between losing my own million dollars and losing a gift.  With my own, I'm now 1million dollars poorer than before I started, with the gift, I'm in the same place as where I started.
Yes but like I said before gifts are slightly different. If someone gave me 1 million dollars first of all I would just take it and not gamble, but if I hit 10x my million but then I lose it, i still only LOST 1 million dollars, whether it was mine or not.

You could also phrase it as "a gift is one million dollars in your pocket and if you lose it you lose a million out of pocket." But if someone gave you money at a casino and told you to gamble it and keep your winnings then it is a little bit different.
