How about keeping a bit more cash reserve? Makes me nervous seeing that we were at close to zero with lots of stock. That's how you go broke although you don't need to?
I am in for the long run here. Paying dividends necessarily weakens a company, because they could spent it on expansion, building their own datacenters or anything like that. I'd rather have a high rate of reinvestment, but then I don't have all the information.

raskul: Anyone reading your comments here and on that thread has to get to another conclusion. Why would anyone spend that much sweat on pushing negative comments everywhere about anything but Spoondoolies?

How about ASICMINER tries to use this auction to scoop up some below market BTC? Alternatively push the price to market rates? Wink

Reading through the div predictions, I am leaning towards keeping a bit more in the war chest. I would rather see us completely dominate the mining market and push out a few of the competitors than the short term gains through dividends.

Havelock is impossible for price discovery... Enormous spread.

1. We seem to get a pretty good BTC/USD price. ~566 USD/BTC, if I calculated correctly. Would be interesting to see when exactly we got such a high price.

2. Reserves seem to be very limited right now. Only ~8 Million USD left. What this suggests for share price just brings me close to tears.

3. AM spend a shit ton of money on something called "power ICs". I assume this is to power some boards, suggesting that AM is still building their own boards. So are we competing with our resellers?

4. Can someone estimate how many chips were produced? If we spent 5.7M USD on wafers, at about $1500 per wafer, that is ~3800 wafers. Can someone estimate how many chips that is? Is this still in line with
"1) This month: 850k, next month: 3.35m (order size), June: 6.7m (order size), assuming each chip is 10G."

5. Are there still outstanding balances with the resellers? (and how many of the above chips have been ordered?)

6. We produced wafers for about $5.7M, sold some for $3.7M, rest value is $7.4M. Is the margin really this bad?

Have more, but need to go...

When the value of a bitcoin goes up, and the div stays flat, would you not agree the value of the dividend went up?  Or if the dividend went down by 10%, but the value of bitcoin doubled, would you still really complain about the "lower dividend".

Actually, yes. We are in Bitcoinland here, with a company that is being valued in bitcoins. So decreased btc dividends == lower btc value of the company. But this simple fact seems already lost on many.

A stable dollar price for asicminer is really bad performance, as it is still a high risk environment.

Jutarul, I would also like to thank you. For the next round of questions, I would also like to know if we are either starting a pool or participating in one, because even at 3PH, we will soon be a way too small player, not in the least due to our own chips.
Also, I don't see anything about our leasing/outsourcing of hashing anymore. Has this project failed?

Lastly: Can we please convince Havelock to remove ALC? I am short of a heart attack every time I open the site Wink

You wrote something about signing in your message. Do you want a specific message signed or was this just as a hint to us in case we ever want to sell them?

@SebastianJu   ok,it's my fault, and this is my first time taking part in auction, and sorry for that . Then, I obey the rule, and I replace  my earlier  bid 170@0.31 with  1@0.32, is that ok ?
still not the way it works. And you would think that someone having enough money to spend over 50 btc on virtual shares would do a bit of research. I mean, that's the value of a very nice car.

But SebastianJu has already handled this perfectly, given the circumstances. Thanks.

Although I don't condone shills you really shouldn't be bidding more than you think it is worth.

Problem is not what I think it is worth (because I would not necessarily bid more), but what I have to pay for it. My .33 was at least in part motivated by the fact to be early on the .33 list, so I am not the first one thrown off again when it rises further. If now everybody jumps ship because shares on havelock were cheaper... I could have bought those as well (saw it), but I had already bid on here.

So, if I ever auction anything on here, I will look out for these peoples names as well.

Not wanting to ridicule KnC or anything, but once again ASICMINER is the only company not taking preorders. With the current increases in network and unclear deployments by others, you are taking a huge gamble on ordering anything that would not be able to make back it's money even in a 1EH-network.
33  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin millionaires, tell us your story! on: November 26, 2013, 04:57:11 PM
While a million dollars might not be enough to retire, it certainly makes life a lot more pleasant. Absolutely low risk investments will get you about 20k each year in addition to what you are normally earning; a good spread might as well give you 40-50. That is about what I make right now as a PhD student. Alternatively, get out of the rent game and buy yourself a nice house, keep the rest.

I just found some new hope after I saw the original "datacenter". This new one looks much more like I expected. At least I see why the havelock prices are somewhat recovering.

To give an idea of how overvalued AM was at its peak: 4.5btc per share x 400,000 = 1,800,000btc.
While I agree that it was overvalued, why would it be following your logic? Theres nearly 10 million BTC to be mined + the magical transaction fee raise of the future + the possibility of self-mining and selling machines to really get profits from more than e.g. 20% of the network.

Where can I convert a few hundred bitcoins for cash right now without taking too much of a hit? And how do I store that securely?
I hope this isn't a rhetorical question, because it's not that hard to find out. As for the second question, this is doubly naive.
I am talking about cash. Maybe you live in bitcoinland where everybody is freely willing to trade, but around here, there is one single offer on the markets I know. And storing cash securely... There is a reason people still have money at banks. So unless you meant "cash" to be some virtual fiat currency obtainable through the many exchanges, you are either ignorant or just plain wrong and a troll.
39  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: November 19, 2013, 06:02:00 PM
Or you could just not pay taxes. It's not hard to get cash for bitcoins if you really need that stinky fiat money.

well, the guy at the german finance ministry office told me: If I declare it, they will gladly accept everything I am willing to give. If I do not declare it, I can't be held accountable for it as they haven't yet figured out how to deal with it. Worst case is that I have to pay taxes in retrospect, but as I have recently moved to Switzerland I hope to resolve this "some other way"(TM)
