21  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Ponzi scheme or not on: January 05, 2015, 10:01:37 PM
Ponzi scheme is paying earlier investors with the money received from new investors without actually investing. Bitcoin is more of an overvalued stock or a gamble for many (not even investment), so if you took a gamble and lost it doesn't necessary mean you've been scammed, right?

Bitstamp lost 18K BTC. https://blockchain.info/address/1L2JsXHPMYuAa9ugvHGLwkdstCPUDemNCf

sell your Bitcoin. the price will go DOWN ......!!!!

I bet this is Bitstamp themselves making some tricky maneuvers.

Sooo, create a panic sell and snap up BTC when the price drops and then pay out their depositors with cheaper BTC and pocket the difference? Gee, why would anybody do a thing like that??

You'd go ask MtGox. Hope they are OK, though.

Don't worry, you'll have a second chance to get in when the price is at the bottom. Shouldn't take long the way it's going down.  Wink

27  Economy / Speculation / Re: hold or dump? on: January 04, 2015, 09:40:00 PM
what if its winklevos dropping all coisn to buy back cheap for their trust fund? Smiley

question is not to hold or dump, question is - how many more should we buy!

They wouldn't do that in my opinion. The are real Bitcoiners and with such a movement they could destroy the market fast.

It would be very risky to do it and they are launching the ETF now so they want positive news and a rising price.

No, they don't. If they are launching the ETF, they want the price at lows to pump up to the max.
28  Economy / Speculation / Re: You are responsible for this on: January 04, 2015, 09:29:53 PM
There are too many people complaining about dropping bitcoin price. You shouldn't. If you are sick of this slide and fed up with bitcoin, sell all of them and don't look back. If you have high hopes for bitcoin, buy some with you spare cash. There will always be fluctuations in a speculative market, pointing fingers do not help.

A sober view on the situation. After all, this is a speculative financial market and that's the nature of speculative markets - there's always a winner and a loser. A healthy wealth-driven competition is buying low and selling high, if you're here only due to the monetary value of Bitcoin.
29  Economy / Speculation / Re: hold or dump? on: January 04, 2015, 03:29:19 PM
Not sure how to put it into words but just ponder for a moment....If you hold on to it right now what else do you have to lose? If you sell out now, basically you have confirmed your fate. Either way, you are just mitigating the losses.

Not true. If he sells now, there is also the potential that he could buy in lower.

Get the cash or most of it into the bank, no brainer Grin

Banks aren't safe anymore, use a shoe box instead.

This pattern will keep repeating itself we are in the middle of peaks at this very moment and after time again to new heights. No reason why this would not happen again network keeps growing on and on.

We're not even close to the bottom yet. This is basic economics 101.

The bubble has burst last year, don't create illusions. This pattern will surely repeat itself, but in a another reckless scheme.

Illusions? LOL.  We're not even in the despair phase yet.  Look, hold if you want to...but facts are facts.  Bitcion is crashing and has been crashing steadily since last year, and the bottom has not been reached yet.

Hold only if you can stand to lose what you have invested.  Advising anyone to do the opposite is both shameless and irresponsible given the current market conditions.  Then again, pumpers will always be around to try and lure the fish in.

I don't think hold is a good idea. I've commented the black chart showing we are near the strongest uptrend, which is basically not true. I personally believe that the price may rise to $600-$700 by the end of this year if certain conditions are satisfied, but that's yet to see if this turns into reality.
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why does price fall when I buy and it rises after I sell? on: January 04, 2015, 01:55:38 PM
the worst traders in the world are attracted to crypto

Only reason I like trading crypto is because you never lose 100% of your investment (as long as you're investing in trustworthy coins). For example: Even if you bought Doge during all time high there is still hope that some day it might get pumped back to that price again. You'll never lose 100% of your investment as long as you keep your coins. Even if you're investing $5..it'll never become zero and most likely it'll pump back to $5+ within few months. People say it's risky but they have never invested in forex where you lose 100% if shit goes down.

It's more of a waiting game and sometimes you have to wait for longer time period and that's what I hate.

In Forex yes, but it's due to high available margin. Above is correct about any currency in the world if you use zero leverage, so not only cryptos.

@GGGGG I suggest you look at our main address and our about us page, you'll find out that we are in fact not at all a ponzi. You can track all of our fund movements on the blockchain, and all revenue sources are legitimate and create sustainable revenue for our program.

Oh, I see now. You are a legitimate business. Where do I send all my coins?

35  Other / Politics & Society / Re: what things does Russian really have? on: January 04, 2015, 09:34:44 AM
The OP started with natural resources, so let me expand on that.

True, Russia has a lot of oil and gas and exports of it is a lion's share of foreign currency income. An interesting aside: Russian budget for 2015 takes oil price of $80 as a reference. The government said, though, that for 2016 the state budget will take oil price of $40 as a reference, and will rely on other things to continue keeping Russian economy at a growing trend.

But there are more resources in Russia. Palladium is only prospected for there, and the current world price is kept low (a hint for those who invest in precious metals). Russian gold reserve is replenished not only from buying, but also from active prospecting. The biggest finds, are, by the way, not melted, but are kept on display (see the documentary below).

Russian gold reserve is kept in what is known as "The Diamond Fund", indicating, an even more important resource. By the way, the following documentary about it is a must-watch: it has an interesting narrative, but even if you don't understand Russian, skim through it - it has footage from many vaults and place, previously closed to the cameras.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGOtFphPLzc

But the main, and most important thing that Russia has, are its people - friendly, open-hearted, ready to help, often naïve, but with the perseverence that has Russia going despite everything that history had thrown at it.

This comment really makes sense. Russia has been deep in the shit too many times last century. It keeps going still.

Russia has muscle and is not afraid to flex it.
The muscle can't help the fall of the Ruble and the economy of Russian.

Trust me, Russians aren't scared of the falling ruble. They've been through several global and local wars, years of widespread famine, broad tyranny and destroying economic crisis of 90s, so the fall of ruble can't do much to this country.

37  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: New mining hardware development on: January 03, 2015, 10:13:26 PM
First of all, you'll need serious funds to start out as it's basically a worthless idea. You should have started years ago. People who laid their groundwork in 2010 are quitting today because starting mining from scratch at this difficulty is like throwing your money on the wind.
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why does price fall when I buy and it rises after I sell? on: January 03, 2015, 09:59:14 PM
I'm not sure I quite understand this. It has happened every single time I bought a coin. Whether it's BTC, VTC, XPY, BC, DRK or even LTC. It doesn't matter what I buy it shits itself as soon as my buy order goes through. As soon as I get tired and sell it starts going up.  Huh

You are a gifted individual. You should run a hedge fund making the most out of this "talent". Just sell when you want to buy and buy when you feel it's necessary to sell.

Stop complaining and get back to making $$. Your battery of luck seems to be installed incorrectly, change the poles before it got damaged or your cash will burn a hole in your pocket.  Wink

...Bitcoin has struck the interest of big players, and they are just waiting for the right time.

Sit down, Dilla, I can't put this off any longer.
There are no big players waiting in the wings; you weren't found in a cabbage patch; the Easter Bunny is just a creepy alcoholic in a fursuit.
There.  Now man up, dry those tears & go play.

Nice one  Smiley
