Received my product today. That yellow foam thing that came with the box make sure you guys don't throw it I let my dog bite it for a while since I thoguth it was packaging but its actually the controller inside between the foam bricks.

would anyone happent o know where I can get a spare power cable for the Regulated Switching Power Supply. THey sent me regular computer cables, but not the kind that has the casing striped and works for this power supply. I asked Jack, but I'm hoping there is a quick fix here in the states if its only a few bucks or so. I didn't realize this but its very subtle. In the instructions it says you have to also fill out the bitcoin fields (with fake stuff just click off the enable button) then it should work atleast it did for me. |

Hi I ordered on the Litecoin forum. I exchanged pms with jack and he assured me that my order would ship in 1 week. I paid 5400 for the LA6M via bank wire on the 11th. My bank said that the "next day wire" transfer was complete within two days. On the 19th Angela confirmed that they had received my money and said they "booked shipping please wait." At this point there is still no tracking number from Angela. I called DHL yesterday and they said there was nothing shipped yet from Hong Kong to my zipcode. Its frustrating seeing that orders placed after mine have been filled.  In the same boat, but I paid with BTC on the 12th for one LA3M. Have still not received any payment confirmation or tracking info. I sent an email 2 days ago, and got this reply: "hi i will check it, thanks Angela " ... Still nothing. Not even an acknowlegement that they received my payment. I am still hopeful that Jack will make good on his end, but I do share in the frustration others are having.  THe second half of my order is also suffering from no communication. Not exactly sure why so you're not alone. I got my first set already. |

Received my LA3M (10 units) yesterday. Mine are the "gold" variety and they do not have the firmware upgrade button. So far, I have not been able to mine at all. Hoping someone can point me in the direction of answers, as there are several roadblocks: (1) (solved) The OP posted drivers do not work on my system (win 8.1). However, I was able to get the correct drivers installed from here: http://www.st.com/web/en/catalog/tools/PF257938# (2) There does not appear to be any firmware upgrade button on mine, so I am unable to upgrade the firmware. After installing the correct vcom drivers I can successfully connect the device and get a virtual com port, but when I run the firmware upgrader it says USART cannot be opened ... which I assume is because I do not have the white firmware upgade button? In any event, it appears we are stuck with the shipped firmware whatever that is. (3) I could not locate a firmware update of any kind for the wiibox controller. Anyone know where to find? Beastlymac mentions such an upgrade, but I do not see it anywhere. Note I disconnected 5 units to make testing/troubleshooting simpler, but I do have 10 (6) I cannot SSH into the unit to try to tweak/fix without a password which was not supplied. Anyone know what the default is? Any ideas greatly appreciated! As an aside to those still waiting on units, mine came with (2) power supplies, 10 USB cables for the miners, a powered 10 port USB hub, power cables to go from the power supply to each miner, 110V AC cords (2), 10 miners (gold fins), wiibox controller with USB cable and power supply. Packaging of the miners was very nice and safe even from DHL's bungling. How can I determine if I have gold fins or some other type could you post a pic? I also have the same order but missing the 10 USB hub which I will buy. |

Can someone post a picture of the controller? Is it the one posted earlier with an SD card? Someone else mentioned that it runs linux and SSH. If so, it would be trivial to get cgminer working in a screen session.
Here you go though it's pretty basic. No SD card, just a power, network and usb port. The controller firmware can only be installed by jack he isn't making it available for people to use on their own.
In regards to a support thread I am working on one it is linked in my signature.
What the hell?!?! What if we need to upgrade it? Is it possible to update at home? From my understanding no. But I am not Jack you will have to ask him directly. You mentioned before that the units can be over clocked without the new firmware correct ? Can you post a guide how to over clock the units to get the 500 kh/s shown by jack using the new firmware ? My unit was shipped so should arrive shortly . Would like to get all my instructions in place Running via cpuminer on the computer you just put the frequency at 900 So it's not possible to do this via the controller that ships with it? Wondering how he had 10 of these showing that hashrate, unless he was running 10 different instances of cpuminer on a host PC? Can it be clocked that high using the controller? Don't want to change the subject, I advise any prospective buyer to use escrow and mainly to use common sense.
I do have a separate point though: price/profitability.
I know you guys are mining just for the sake of the network and in "ars gratia artis" terms. But these will never break even mining at 3Mh with 90W power consumption, at 0,1$/KW, which are all very optimistic.
And don't tell me you will be also mining SHA, because at that hash/power consumption it will lose you money from day one.
At a 3% difficulty increase you will be 1500$ in the red after ~500days. Do you need to wait that long to find out you've lost 1500$?
And we all know that once ASICS get in, the diff will explode. Bitcoin has about 25-30% steady diff increase. But the first Bitcoin ASICS, whoever got them first were sold at a price that could be recouped in 30 days or less. Gridseed, as it is priced right now does not break even!
My point and message to you, seeds is that your price is too high. Especially in the current Crypto market.
Please price it at a level at which the miners can make a buck, at least a small one.
I'd buy if this would have a max 90 days breakeven time.
How did you calculate 500 days again? Are you scrypt or bitcoin mining? Asics for scrypt are not going to make it explode like bitcoin because its mostly energy savings rather than hashing power at the moment. |
