I was slacking around and I was thinking about trying this out. I noticed there are only an handful pools. Besides 1GH the others seem to be rather small... either everyone is solo mining this or I'm missing something.
Any news of an open AMD miner BTW? I think this is holding back.
People just prefer mining at 1GH for a few different reasons, it's already been discussed a few times. And no news that I know of.
202  Economy / Digital goods / Re: BitShop - digital bitcoin shop script [PHP/MYSQL] (v1.0.4) on: February 12, 2015, 04:31:29 AM
Hey I purchased the script, and I was wondering where I change the BTC price (Where it retrieves it from), because it currently says 1 BTC is $377, when it's $220, which means I can't sell stuff for how much it should be
You need to set up the cron job which automatically updates the exchange rate periodically. I suggest you watch the installation video.

BTW, others are trying to avoid the blockchain bloat: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=949880.0
They've been trying for many years. The OP of that thread is suggesting something very much like the mini-blockchain scheme except he's suggesting the storage of unspent outputs instead of balances, which is very much similar to the ultimate blockchain compression scheme that gmaxwell mentions. The OP is basically reinventing ideas that have existed for several years.

Mention of mini-blockchains in IBM's ADEPT white paper:

“Multiple efforts like sidechains, treechains, and mini-blockchains are ongoing to address this problem. While each approach has its merits and demerits we are yet to see consensus on a common approach across the board. A blockchain to cater to hundreds of billions of devices needs to be scalable.”

Interesting stuff, good find.

since doing the last fix most customers are getting

"Address is corrupt"
Lol you really know how to find the weird bugs. On what page is that error occurring?

its at the bottom..
Hmmm I'm going to need another temporary FTP account.

208  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NeuCoin - Easy to use, free to try, focused on micropayments - Official on: February 07, 2015, 11:40:45 AM
Well even if this coin offers no real innovation it will still be successful, just like Dogecoin, because the people backing it know how to push an altcoin that offers people nothing new.

PoS isn't "innovative."  It's been around since Peercoin!

Also not innovative: ICO/ITO/presales/instamines, airdrops, slick graphics, hype and buzzwords with no specifics.
Lol +100

Also I forgot to mention that I added a new page to the explorer which shows a list of peers connected to the explorer node. This may be helpful for anyone seeking active Cryptonite nodes.

211  Economy / Digital goods / Re: BitShop - digital bitcoin shop script [PHP/MYSQL] (v1.0.4) on: February 01, 2015, 10:47:57 PM
Worked, thanks. Are there any limitations on how many sites I can use the script on with only one license?
Read the product description or the license file included with BitShop. "Can be used on 1 site, 1 server".

It's a website Source code , how do you expect from people to be honest about it and not leak it or use it again and again ?? and on many on their websites
I mean you will know about it ? if it was an Application I'am pretty sure you can know about it . but that's a website , even if there is something that makes you know , they can edit the source and that's it
Obviously I cannot know, but that's just the way web software works. If I chose to use some code obfuscation tool then people wouldn't be able to read or edit the source code, and I know how annoying that can be. I will sell more copies if people know they can read and alter the source code.

Apart from that, the source code isn't really what I'm selling, I'm selling a license which gives people access to updates and technical support until their license expires. You may continue to run BitShop after your license expires but you might miss critical updates and bug fixes.

What I really care about is people sharing their license keys, which is why I included a locking mechanism which will freeze a license if it's used to download BitShop from multiple IP addresses in a short period of time. The settings of the locking mechanism can be adjusted in the admin area.

But at the end of the day I have to rely on people to do the right thing. I have seen the source code of BitShop leaked in the past but I keep the price of BitShop low so that people don't feel motivated to share it. If it's a fair price then people will be willing to pay for it, that's what I think anyway.

EDIT: But you are right there's very little I can do about people running it on more than one site. Many web developers try to incorporate some sort of product activation feature but like you said it can be easily removed from the source code unless you're using an obfuscation tool. And I think even the best obfuscation tools can be cracked anyway so it's all a pretty futile effort.

It would be nice to get the messaging system implemented better. It seems NXT has a way of encrypting messages within it's network. Perhaps that could be used as a model. Seems they are limited to 1000 characters which seems sufficient. What's the limit within Cryptonite?
I believe there are now a few coins which support encrypted messages but they all have issues. The main thing you need to realize about encryption is that both parties typically need to be in possession of the secret encryption key(s). A typical symmetric encryption algorithm such as AES requires that both parties share a common secret. However that's not very useful for encrypting messages in transactions because it requires both parties to be in communication. But if you wanted to send an encrypted message using Cryptonite you could use the AES algorithm to encrypt a message and send it to someone who knows the secret key. There's nothing preventing anyone from doing that right now, but as I said it's not very useful.

Of course Cryptonite and most other altcoins already use public key cryptography (aka asymmetric encryption), and that opens the door for a more convenient message encryption mechanism. Anyone can encrypt a message using the public key associated with some address, then the owner of that address can decrypt the message using their private key. Now the problem is that you can't figure out the full public key just from an address. In order to know what the public key is you either need the person to send you their public key or you need to search the blockchain to find a transaction where that address has already been used as an input (because the public key can be derived from the signature), but it may not have been used previously.

I'm not sure how they implemented message encryption in NXT but I doubt they have solved these fundamental problems. The basic issue is that you can't encrypt a message and expect the other person to know how to decrypt the message unless you're in communication with that person or you have some other way to discover their public key. Thus we haven't implemented message encryption in Cryptonite, because I see no compelling solution to this problem. And to answer your question the limit for Cryptonite messages is 64 characters if I remember correctly. The intended purpose of it is just so people can attach a bit of extra info to the transaction, like maybe an order ID or something. It's not there so people can embed novels into the blockchain.

I guess the other altcoins don't have the same need for resync as the don't use the mini blockchain scheme. Cryptonite seems to need a resync if a node hasn't connected for over a week. Looking back at the debug.log file the following error is from when I ran the client the other day:-
'Warning: saved state too old. Fast forward sync may not be possible. Run Resync!!!'
This is when I clicked resync and after that it crashed with the error I posted before.
That is not an error it's only a warning, you might not have to do a resync, if you let it run for a while it may be able to catch up. But if you're way behind and do need to resync then you'll need to start Cryptonited or Qt with the -resync flag. We've always known that clicking on that resync option in Qt will cause a crash, it also happens on Linux systems. Are you experiencing any problems apart from that?

It should work if I do the usual trick of deleting everything bar the wallet.dat including the registry entries to re-install the client. But I'll leave it in the current state in case you need any more logs from it as I don't need to make any transactions now.
I highly doubt your registry has anything to do with it. Deleting everything in your data directory except the wallet.dat should be enough.

I need to edit the following pages, where do I edit them?
Admin Area -> Themes -> Edit Pages

Or simply look in the /inc/pages folder.

And you should include a link to the instruction video in a .txt-file IMHO.
The video link is on the same page where you download BitShop. It's pretty hard to miss.

Have you tried leaving the wallet closed on one of your windows machines for a couple of weeks so it's forced to do a resync?
Yes and it usually works fine.

The good news is you've provided a descriptive error message to help pinpoint the issue. The bad news is this seems to be a problem which has exist for several years in other altcoins such as litecoin and still hasn't been fixed: https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=10746.0

My naive guess would be that you might have cryptonited already running in the background or something.
217  Economy / Digital goods / Re: BitShop - digital bitcoin shop script [PHP/MYSQL] (v1.0.3) on: January 29, 2015, 05:33:28 AM
well i reuploaded the sci files today from the latest download.. and yea.. still get errors. 6 of the 8 transactions today errored out.

What other files could be causing this issue?
I'm probably going to need ftp and database access if you want me to diagnose your issue.

how would u like for me to send you this info.
Just send it to me via PM. Create a temporary FTP account for me.

EDIT: turns out the issue was being caused by the | characters in the item titles. The transaction should always error out if the item name contains the | character. I have provided reesev with a fix and will include that fix in the next release of BitShop.

@fuckmoolah: the installation video is working fine for me, try using a different web browser. And your issue with the emails should be fixed when you install v1.0.4. I think I forgot to update the version number so it still says 1.0.2.
220  Economy / Digital goods / Re: BitShop - digital bitcoin shop script [PHP/MYSQL] (v1.0.4) on: January 27, 2015, 03:20:42 AM
Could you please send me the updated version please since i had a little trouble with downloading its used my keys to many times and i need to get the new update since im still on 1.0.2
It should only freeze your key if you download it from many different IP's in a short period of time. Tell me your key and I can unlock it for you but I don't understand how you managed to get it frozen in the first place.
