201  Other / Meta / Re: Question: Moderator can lock thread in case there is proven scam or OP are ban. on: August 14, 2018, 08:34:11 AM
I will request to moderator for lock their bounty thread to avoid spam and loss of time forum members.

So if it's not able to be locked or go to trash then let those participants waste their time until they came to the point to check what the heck is going on. No worries about extended advertisement because I believed investors will always check any projects before throwing money at it.
I think "Coolcryptovator" has a point. He is highlighting the fact that this project has been already known as scam(thanks to "Coolcryptovator") and their bounty thread is still feeding the spammers. I think we aren't talking about the time wasted by underworld bounty freaks, but the valuble time of Mods where they can spend for hunting down tricky spam word spin bots and other shitposters. Who cares about those participants(spammers) still posting even after marlboroza's warning?

Investors will always check before they invest those scam ICO's, but we should be worried about the time of mods/other members who reports by wasting their time. I think mods should not followed rules ( "scams are not moderated" ) blindly. Because as far my knowledge this is clear cut case. There are several threads always being created in Meta that how we reduses spam in the bitcointalk forum. But when someone pointing out clear cut case with proofs, why Mods can't locked or trash that thread without allowing to clog the forum by participants of that scam project spammers.

202  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: will the price of bitcoin go down on: August 14, 2018, 04:20:57 AM
I think you're posting this in the wrong board. So move this topic to the Bitcoin discussion board, without starting another Mega Thread in B&H section.
203  Other / Meta / Re: Make links posted by Newbies unclickable. on: August 13, 2018, 06:13:40 PM
<... snip...>

I am not a fan of putting restrictions or unclickable links for newbies. Because when I was Newbie it's very essential to adding url to a post to become constructive one. Newbies already cannot post images. So is it necessary to add another barrier for them?(I'm not talking about the  spammers, but the Newbies who passionate about making creative posts). My belief is we shouldn't sacrifice the opportunity of a good newbie (who actually want to be a member of this wonderful forum) who creates constructive posts with the aid of url for the actions of spammers who do always what they normally do with or without ristrictions. Because then they(spammers) moves to buy copper membership with few bucks and do their works from where they stopped.

My suggestion is some kind of similer to what "hilariousetc" suggested, but not the same. How about all the links to be marked by red color when newbies are sharing links in their posts. That color can only be changed after they got ranked up. Then other members will surely double check the url before they going to click a link shared by newbie.( It's like PM preferences where newbies PM's marked with a red warning)
204  Other / Meta / Re: [RUPL] Ranking-Up Pipe Line of Forum Members on: August 13, 2018, 02:56:34 PM
Since the OP's work was inspired by me, I will give him one more idea to work on if he wants.

Can you list who gave the missing merit to rank-up to those who ranked up to Full Member and above?
I guess if you list the ones that move from jr. member to members will be quite a long list, but you can do it too if you want.
Challenge accepted and I will do ASAP Smiley

Quote
P.S. I just turned another Full to Sr. Member, ( btw Congrats mdayonliner)  and I love it Smiley
You ruined my chance to rank up madayonliner Wink. I think it is easy to update the list(who ranked up) if they posted in my thread after giving away sMerits to a member to ranked up, just like you.

Quote

I can't wait to get my PC back online to play a little with your database.
I just want to list all the users with 9 , 99, 249,... etc. merit and some other fun stats.
BTW My PC is still offline ... Sad
I  hope it will go online ASAP, because forum really needs you to be action with full power Wink
205  Other / Meta / Re: [RUPL] Ranking-Up Pipe Line of Forum Members on: August 13, 2018, 02:42:09 PM
List of Members were updated from the latest data available 9th August 2018

Members added - 01
Jr. Members added - 03

update - Members with negative trust marked by red color (However all the members with red color doesn't mean that they didn't deserved to be ranked up, so DYOR)
206  Other / Meta / Re: Merit? This got to be a joke. on: August 12, 2018, 04:52:09 PM
Not everyone is as smart as Ddmrddmr and not everyone works as hard as theyoungmillionaire
I also agree with you that everyone can't be smart as them. They always put extra effort than others when they are posting or starting a thread. Actually Merit system not initiated by theymos that not all the members to be liked "DdmrDdmr" or "theyoungmillionaire" but the discourage the spammers. So with this new system they can't get easily ranked up unless they are giving something to the forum where other members appreciated.( Other members actually don't want to be agreed with the OP in order to earn a Merit). Some(actually I'm also believer in early, but not now) members would argue that initial Merits(airdropped) of some members(not all of them but few) have been wasted and misused for the posters actually didn't deserved it. However that doesn't mean the system will failed, but those spammers will eventually dried up their initial sMerits.

since we both agree on the 2nd point. and you were trying to be a smartass by giving me satoshis profile, where I have still provided 5 not merit worthy posts,
Some times we can't say(and we shouldn't) every Merited posts are good ant quality posts. But sometimes some of the members have followed the posters profile (reputation matters in sometimes, not always) before they are going to award any Merit. You wasted your time to find out posts which not worthy Merits. Instead I would like to suggest read the posts of satoshi's from the beginning can gain more knowledge than you imagined. Just follow the top Merited users and follow their posts, how they contribute to the forum, how they answers for the questions asked by others rather than complaining or finding out posts which not worthy to be Merited.
207  Other / Meta / Re: 2 suggestions to eliminate bumping services & the spam being encouraged in Anns on: August 12, 2018, 10:29:35 AM
Nice idea @hilariousetc and I have my own suggestions since from the Biggining of my short carrier in the forum.

  • Merits shouldn't awarded to the post made on ANN threads.
  • Posts in the ANN threads should not counted as an activity.
  • Introduce earned Merit requirement for starting a thread in ANN section.( Most members wouldn't risk their reputation to just get few ICO tokens which can create out of thin air, so my believe is they will moderate the thread that he/she started)

Example - LoyceV's signature campaign with earned Merit requirement
208  Other / Meta / Re: Ask a legendary on: August 12, 2018, 05:17:48 AM
Some times people are lazy to use "search" function, so how about creating a thread( like a complete bookmark list) for selecting what are the FAQ in the Meta and B&H sections and what are the answer threads that other members created. It's only just an idea and I want to know what are the thoughts from other members( Especially Jet cash).

BTW this is my current bookmarked threads,

P.S. - disregard this reply if it's a off topic answer Wink[/list]
209  Other / Meta / Re: [RUPL] Ranking-Up Pipe Line of Forum Members on: August 10, 2018, 01:15:30 PM
Nice work op. Can you put somewhere [color=red ][/color ] to see the red trusted ones?
That's a good idea Smiley I will update when I back in my computer ( it's annoying to edit with mobile)
210  Other / Meta / Re: [RUPL] Ranking-Up Pipe Line of Forum Members on: August 10, 2018, 11:12:11 AM
nice work OP, I havent been active recently but great to see some members finding a niche in the information game
Seems like TMAN back in action where you left off. Forum missed you last few days. You're one of the brand name that I always followed sir Wink

Always good to see members are helping each others with whatever they can. OP you do know this will be a hard job to keep up with the updates  Smiley
Yeah I will do my best to update the data. Together we can create a better forum where free less spam as much as possible. BTW I am hoping I should erase your name from my list, because you deserved to be ranked ASAP Wink

Quote
Do you have plan to remove an entry once someone achieve the next rank on the list? Like I see some of them already got the merits for the next rank, will you replace them with the ones who are getting closer for the next rank? LoyceV and DdmrDdmr can provide you the up to date data.
I'm also thinking about that wether I should remove the entry or not. I most probably removed the entries whose already ranked up in my next update. Is that Ok or do we have another better option?

Stat man(LoyceV) and Stat guru(DdmrDdmr) will surely help me to get those data. I scraped these data from DdmrDdmr's Merit dashboard.

I think this account meets the criteria for your list
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1951496
Name:    Cryptoshka
Merit:    98
Yeah he/she will be added to my next update(if member didn't ranked up) and he crossed the Merit requirement (95 Merit) after I posted this thread with the data available as at 30/7/2018.

Edit:  I have a few sMerits to give.  If there's anyone right at the borderline who's deserving of a merit or two, drop me a PM and I'll see if I agree with you.
I hope this is not a click bait for Merit beggers Cheesy
211  Other / Meta / Re: The Serious Discussion Board is not "serious" anymore on: August 10, 2018, 04:00:08 AM
I`ve just come from the serious discussion board and see topics like this one:
<...snip...>
Shouldn`t those ones be in the Bitcoin Discussion Board? Well, I totally get that the Bitcoin Discussion board is polluted with all kinds of spammers, but if we don`t contribute with good posting activity and move our threads to Serious Discussion, how are we going to overcome all the spammers-invasion-situation?
Hey @seoin I think answer for question is also within your explanation. You and me all agreed that "Bitcoin discussion" board was polluted by spammers. "We" always try to contribute with good posting. The question shall be asked from not "us" but "spammers or shitposters" wether they are willing to change their posting behavior. I don't think so. Until then it's better to move from there.

BTW I hope mods are active in serious discussion board too. If they or other member thought that it doesn't belong to "serious discussion" board, then move it where it appropriate.( Because I don't think those posts are spam)

Quote
<... snip...>

Isn`t it belongs to Politics & Society? or... even better, to "Off-topic"?
No isn't as far my knowledge (mods can correct me if I'm wrong). There is no politics or neither society involved. Where should I posted? I will rather delete my post without posting it in "off topic board" because it's almost filled with one liners and spammers, more oftenly can make better discussion with others.

Quote
But I don`t know then what`s the difference between the two mentioned boards and the Serious Discussion one. All the threads I`ve posted are about generic themes or very generic discussions, I can`t see any "serious" on them. But, of course, that`s just my own perception.
I can't say about others, but for me it's not generic, it's seems like, but it isn't. ( I'm talking about my thread). Imagine what would happened if "Satoshi" being active again and starting to post on Bitcoin discussion board, then he might thought "Are those serious talks?, it's like nurssary school talks about bitcoins". The point I'm highlighting is the knowledge and understanding is not equall in all the members, it's comparative. My believe is unless they are not spammers or shitposters why couldn't we allowed to post in "serious discussion" board.

Quote
I do have some questions:
- What is the Serious Discussion board meant for?
I think "pugman" already answered what "theymos" said it first place. If we want further clarification "theymos" the only person who can answer.

Quote
- Are we losing it?
No I don't think so.(just my opinion)

Quote
- What do you think about that, meaning, how to determine what is actually a "serious" discussion and what is not?
It's comparative according to person to person as far my knowledge.
Don't make "serious discussions" into "serious serious discussions"

Quote
- Is that meant to avoid spammers? If it is, then it should probably has a restriction like the Ivory Tower.
Then we don't want two boards one is enough. I don't think theymos is a fan of "restrictions for free to speech unless they are spams" and what I believe is then those boards will remain like group chat with only established members. That doesn't mean spammars/shitposters should allowed to post in those boards at all.
212  Other / Meta / Re: Analysis – Posts per month average for Merited members on: August 09, 2018, 01:01:35 PM
Another great work (again..) Smiley. So after looking back at your analysis, I have two questions

1) How you derived the posting segments (eg: Very Heavy >=5 posts per day). Because I believed that threshold number matters the most and it will clearly affect the data when we move to the comparison or talking about percentages.

2) Can we cross-referenced the posts of the users(636+1033+973) actually having negative posting state with posts that got deleted on ANN/ Bounty threads?

213  Other / Meta / Re: [RUPL] Ranking-Up Pipe Line of Forum Members on: August 09, 2018, 12:18:10 PM
Merits come by good comments. I observed that most of the names on the list make most comments in announcement thread. I wonder what quality contribution you will make to an announcement post.
yeah agreed, I only filtered the data. So I will add a separate column or colour for my next update to identify shitposters and members who are not active. Isn't that cool? and that will avoid wasting the time of other members who actually looking for members, truly deserved to be ranked. I am also a believer of Merits should not be given to the ANN threads or posters who post there frequently.

Note - I hope you're talking about the most of the Jr. Members who appear in the list.
214  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Smart contract an how to use it ? on: August 09, 2018, 07:07:34 AM
I think this SMART CONTRACTS, simply explained... thread which i posted will helps to anyone who looking for explanations and its usages.

Bitcoin doesnt have smart contracts yet.
I think ethereum have and it need special software that allows you to make contract.

BTCitcoin aslo supports "Smart Contracts" although a lot more limited when compared with Ethereum.
215  Other / Meta / Re: [RUPL] Ranking-Up Pipe Line of Forum Members on: August 09, 2018, 06:24:31 AM
Great post. For Jr member, they can apply Here. Other member I will try to help here by maximum 2 merit if need and if deserve it. Just now I checked one his profile with shit post. So I am not interested to send merit shitposter.

Btw I will keep in eye here. If I can help some one sure I will do. I will request to OP exclude some member who isn't active long time.
Thanks for your compliment. That's a tricky one for answering. So I would like to know where should I draw the line of "being active" and "Not being active"?
216  Economy / Reputation / Re: Help Sold account and got scammed on: August 09, 2018, 02:42:45 AM
I sold my account https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=471336  and the guy who bought it refuses to pay me, he owes me $250 in btc.

Can someone please help me get my account back or something. or please kick this guy off my account.

Account selling is not prohibited but it's discouraged. I don't think this thread also belongs to Meta since you're already posted "Scam accusation" board too.

Why are you sold your reputation in the forum for just 250$ in the first place? I also Agreed with "Pharmacist" there's nothing to this matter with other members.

Got any proof that you tried to sell the account?  It certainly looks like it, based on the password and e-mail change but I'd like to see PMs or whatever you have before tagging the account.
I think seller also to be tagged. Why only buyers?
217  Other / Meta / Re: Forum ranks/positions/badges (What do those shiny coins under my name mean?) on: August 09, 2018, 02:19:13 AM
Thanks, very interesting post, but it is very hard to get Merit
But not impossible. There is no shortcuts or easy methods for gaining Merits. This is my experience that I shared when I was Newbie, I hope it will helps you. Just be helpful for other forum members and make some extra effort before you post something.

Link>>>3days and 19hours of Bitcointalk....
218  Other / Meta / Re: Merrit? This got to be a joke. on: August 09, 2018, 01:33:28 AM
It's almost impossible to get merit on Locals forums and here if you're not a fluent english speaker.
So lot of non native english speaker will be blocked at "Jr. Member" for ever...
I don't have any local board and English is not my native language too. But I was not blocked to junior member in fact now I'm a member rank. Gaining Merit is hard sometimes but it is not impossible at all. Since bitcointalk is an international forum, English will be used as a main language in many boards. So better to Learn English language by making extra effort. There are so many threads regarding English language and one I preferred is Fit to talk by "Jet cash"
219  Other / Meta / Re: Merrit? This got to be a joke. on: August 08, 2018, 07:13:10 PM
I find it highly annoying that this merrit system is still around.
I think the real annoying thing was the delay of introduction of Merit system to the forum. Introduction of Merits system is the best thing happened to this kind of  forum. Yes Merit system still around and it will around too and it should.

Quote
It is supose to be stimulating people to make good quality posts or topics, but i doesnt seems to work this way.
How are you telling that doesn't work this way? Is it from your own experience or by looking at the other spammers comments whose actually blames for the Merit system since it's beginning.

So why don't you take extra effort , read more and make some good post rather blaming the system. Sometimes if we can't change the system( actually it shouldn't in this case), then change yourselves. Because the person who doesn't change according to the surrounding will not last longer in the system. Just put some effort and Merits will be there. Don't try too hard and take it easy. Because there are lot of things we can learn being activate the reading mode.

Quote
I see alot of people selling there merrit to whoever wants it, is this even legit? It means people with multiple accounts can dominate bitcointalk, earn the most bounty rewards( multiple with more accounts) and can give merrit out to themselves and can get alot of bounty stakes, while other who do there best arent even able to join because they cant reach member status!
Merit abuse/selling is not moderated by the admins. But if you get caught you and you only have to faced the consequences. So better to away from such things. Merits are not introduced for members to get ranked up and only to do Bounties and get extra stakes or whatever ICO tokens. It's like appreciation from others for doing the right things and being helpful to the other members. There are so many things around the forum besides Bounties.

Quote
Even more annoying is the fact that members and above( not all of you ) just post crappy posts all over the place, and keep spamming away with no consequences. Its just sick, like in the real world, the rich get richer, its insane do something about it.
If you see spammy posts wether it's from higher rank, lower rank whatever just report it by pressing the "report to moderator" button. I think most of the cases it's not about Members and above ranks, but Juniors and newbies ( not the all of them but most) who posting crappy spammy posts.
220  Other / Meta / Re: [RUPL] Ranking-Up Pipe Line of Forum Members on: August 08, 2018, 01:40:55 PM
OK, now I've been trough the list. Gave some merit to the ones I though they deserve but big part of the list are just shiposters. I wonder how they ended up gaining 9 merit.
I think they got their airdoped Merits and no more earned Merits. Cheesy . We can easily see their post history and I had to agree with you.

Quote
For the higher ranked members I have not enough merit to fill them so, I give the opportunity to the others to do it.
I really hope this thread will be stay updated like, every week or so. so we can spread some merit to those who deserve.

Thanks vphasitha01 for turning my idea into reality Smiley

Actually you're the one who gives the original idea of this kind of thread and I just do some filtering of data from DdmrDdmr.
I will be updating the thread surely and then we don't need to start another threads for searching members posts who actually needed one or two merits to rank up. It's all here.

By this post, are we encouraged to read through their posts to know if they are worthy of merit, or are we to give merit on compassion?
It's just like 50/50 . I think we can see there post history and see wether actually they deserved to be Merited and rank up. In the other hand don't waste your sMerits for shitposters just because of only them needed one or two Merits.
