Yes, the older coin design is prettier, but the proposed new one would fit with the website 1000% better and would look way more professional.  Other sites can use the old color, and perhaps other pages - maybe the old one is best for press releases. But I like the current official page colors, and this proposed update to the coin.  Thanks raze, it's been bothering me too!

hello guys I am having a scary problem with my darkcoin wallet and I would appreciate some help! I had around 700 darkcoins, but the wallet was not syncing (Stuck 16 weeks behind). I backed up the folder but after reinstalling darkcoin, it is only showing ONE of my many addresses, and its showing a balance of only 87 darkcoins. Only my mining address is shown, and its only received transactions. My other 5-6 addresses are not in the wallet. What can I do? Sad

Did you finish syncing?  I'm sorry but I'm going to bed right now.  But unless you used up over 100 addresses, it should be there.  Make sure you finished syncing, make sure you're on the right fork?  Gosh, if you haven't paid attention to the hard forks of the past, it's possible you were mining on the wrong fork?  I sure hope not!

Anyways, I was wondering if there is anyway to test our masternodes to see if they're functioning correctly?

Wish I knew of one. Might just have to wait until Wednesday and see if their wallets start accumulating DRK. Reminds me, must update to latest darkcoind today... again...

Ugh, this will be a very anxious week!

Sorry Darkers , but what are the latest news ? Are we adopting some new technology or else ?

Yes

Here's the new schedule for development:

- RC2 (masternode payments, DGW3) : May 14th
- RC3 (1000 DRK limit and denominated change) : May 21st
- After this, I'll find someone to vet the code and open source.
- RC4 (Bugs, security issues)
- Testing, then opensource

What's next ?

- RC3 (1000 DRK limit and denominated change) : May 21st
Or possibly a change of plans as InternetApe alluded to a new realization from Evan.  Might be built on denominated change or something entirely different?

Yaaay, page 1000 Cheesy

Well, I'm back to mining, computers upgraded (Ubuntu 14.04, hated 13.10, so I hope this will be better?)  Windows updated (been putting that off).  So now I'm at Darkcointalk.org mining.

Anyways, I was wondering if there is anyway to test our masternodes to see if they're functioning correctly?
206  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Darkcoin wants YOU! (Need P2pool patch ASAP) on: May 11, 2014, 06:47:50 AM
Obviously, there is a lot of support for P2pool bounties, we really need someone to help us out!  We don't want to lose P2pool for any length of time (though I know Evan will eventually get around to it)  It'd be great if we could get some help??

These guys just following the masternode guide and not knowing much else past the guide, whats the chances of them losing their coins to thieves?

edit - ok just saw what you said above, cheers TanteStefana

To be sure, i'll be crying my eyes out if I lose my coins, lol.  But a lady's gotta do what she's gotta do, LOL

Well, I honestly hope, for myself as well, that keeping my coins off line and all the other safety measures i took will make it pretty darn safe, but you never know?

Unless there is a hole somewhere, and there always are holes, it should be pretty safe.  There is risk in everything we do.
209  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: May 11, 2014, 05:32:59 AM

If I just created a masternode with that guide, do I have the most recent version then?

Yes, use the above version, as it was just posted by Evan today as a bug fix, and the guide should be the same.

Both of you should make sure you do this with a remote wallet so you can keep your coins safely in "cold storage" (save the .dat file with the coins in it on a jump drive off line.  Keep it safe!)

Hey everyone!  Hope ya'all had a great day!

Daddeo, RC2 is both on testnet and live.  Going through the thread just now, I see we had an update with RC2, so make sure you get the latest here:.... Ok, I see you found it, LOL

I don't think you can use windows yet, though you could try it???  Make sure you take steps to secure everything!

I'm a big believer in darkcoin... and I am shorting at .0051

and buying back at .0071?

exactly Smiley

That'd be me!  I'm really good at losing coins!

Don`t sell them buy and hold. I haven`t sell neither 1 coin yet and will not this year for sure!

no worries, I learned my lesson the hard way!  LOL

chaeplin, you should see how crazy your pie charts look like on my touchpad, LOL.  No worries, though, my beloved touchpad is super obsolete, though I love it.  Lots of power no software :-(

AlexGR, the cool thing about Evan is he doesn't seem to care about dropping his previous work!  The second he sees a better way to do something, he just does it!  Old code out the window, on to better things.  There is a bit of danger in that we've bought into Evan as much as we have Darkcoin!. I'm counting on the masternode setup becoming attractive to other talented developers so Darkcoin can develop a pool of talent so we don't have to kidnap Evan and chain him to Darkcoin code the rest of his life, LOL

Does any coins wallet have a feature of Import wallet (.dat file) rather than having to move it to the folder manually?
Not a big thing but would be a cool feature. Along with update notifications.

Please clarify for me:  Did you mean a feature where you could load different wallet accounts from an open wallet?  Or did you mean to merge two accounts?  I assumed you meant to switch wallet accounts on the fly in an open wallet.

If you get the private key from the old .dat file you can import the key into your new wallet with no problems.

I think he means it would be cool to switch wallets on the fly, instead of always switching out the .dat files manually.  I keep several wallets because I figure it might be safer.  If one wallet is cracked, it's only some of my coins i loose.  I keep my "current" wallet with a low number of coins because it's online most of the time, the others are in cold storage, except when i'm testing darksends or something Smiley

That would be a very cool feature!  I'm going to add it to the list of things to (maybe) do on our darkcointalk.org forum!  Thanks for that great idea!

done!

2. Why not do it now?  Well because you can't leave DarkSend in beta ad infinitum while Evan is continually trying to catch up to the "cutting edge".  At some point it has to be open sourced and released - and when it is... it will the best open source, fully released anonymous cryptocoin solution at the time.  If you know of any other anonymous coins that are not in alpha, beta, testing, brainstorming, or some other preliminary phase then point them out.  AFAIK, there are none.

The odd thing about CryptoNote is that it's actually pretty old (by cryptocurrency standards). The first coin to use it was Bytecoin (not BTE, but BCN). This coin was coded from scratch and the blockchain for this actually shows the genesis block being mined on July 2012! CryptoNote itself started research phase before that. However, it was hidden in deepweb communities and only surfaced on the clearweb in March 2014. So this has all been going on for a while, but the origins are shrouded. Other CryptoNote coins are popping up only now and they're using Bytecoin as the reference just like most altcoins have been using Bitcoin.

It's not really alpha since everything works, including the ring signatures. There's no GUI however. Tongue So it sort of reminds people of Bitcoin back in the early days before Qt (which was the third client). I think it would be great if DRK adopted this sort of protocol too. Anonymity is the most worthwhile ideal to pursue in cryptos right now.

It may be actually better if Darkcoin implements things differently, and we get a successful CryptoNote coin as well because choices and competition are healthy, and there is an inherent level of safety in numbers if coins function differently, in that if one is somehow cracked, the other could continue on, keeping the private crypto currency goals going.

So which version of monero has the best developers and momentum now?  It's unfortunate they fell apart like that.

I am really excited for the possibilities the infrastructure of Darkcoin's masternodes hold.  Because it's not just about having privacy, but being able to do things with your coin.  Waiting for a few stores to adopt the coins is going to take a long time, but a decentralized, secure auction site, or consignment site would be beyond awesome!  And I can see that happening in the not too distant future. I've got stuff I'd like to sell, but ebay and paypal take so much of your funds, it's highway robbery!  Even if there were a 1% charge for the use of the service that went to the masternodes, I wouldn't mind... heck, ebay charges insertion fees and almost 10 freakin percent!

Another cool thing is the possibilities should bring in new developers who could implement these new ideas for the masternodes as personal projects, and in so doing, will hopefully become familiar with Darkcoind and DarkSend, and getting a feeling of ownership and kudos, and possibly income from their creations (why not?  Like P2pool)  And having a stake in the continued success of Darkcoin, these developers would presumably become part of the team that continues to develop Darkcoin.

I just see an incredibly healthy ecosystem that could seriously go on into the deep future with this coin.  i'm super excited about it!

Darkcoin Masternode by Country

Next will be "Darkcoin Masternode by ISP"

http://drk.poolhash.org/masternode.html

Maxmind GeoIPISP is used.

Nice !

I have to admit, it seems more decentralized than I thought it would Smiley

Also btw Eizh may have a vested interest, but he's not a troll.

I have vested interests in multiple anonymity implementations, including DRK. Wink

But I won't lie, CryptoNote is my current favorite. An elegant implementation of decentralized trustless mixing with a single cryptographic stroke. That's music to my ears. =P

In case you didn't see it, I do want to apologize, I mixed you up with ac2 even so you look nothing alike!  LOL

The NSA of course....er and maybe my computer 'cause it started acting up this morning.  I think it's infected, and I've been scanning all last night for some bot (grrrr!!!), LOL.  I hope it'll finish before i have to go to bed!

But seriously, as the price goes up, the multipools are bound to dive in, driving the difficulty up.

Windows Defender to the rescue ! Tongue

Are you saying that some/all of those users belong to the parasite infested multi pools ?

Nah, I have no real idea, but I certainly let myself get infected.  My computer was not mining this morning and it was acting like I had both cpu and gpu running at max, and knowing the type of sites I've been going to lately, I figured I became a member of a botnet or something, LOL.  My computer is still scanning, I took it off line, not going to let them have access to whatever work my computer was doing, buggers! LOL

I like this guy. He challenges the developers and competition is always healthy. Plus he just made me 30 darkcoin so $66.15 at todays going rate.

How?Huh?  i'm crap at trading!

Lol I don't know, its all luck.  Tongue

Seriously though, look at the pressure on both sides. Factor in the walls, then finally look at the FUD.

Also btw Eizh may have a vested interest, but he's not a troll.

thought I was answering ac2, I think i quoted wrong thing, i'm not quick and am clumsy.  Please accept my appologies, eizh
