What was the price of the winning bid? Anyone knows?

He hasn't revealed how much he bought the coins, yet, but i guess after a couple of days that info is bound to leak

204  Economy / Services / Re: XBTec ASICs. We pay for signature. Weekly payouts on: July 05, 2014, 02:40:31 PM
hi, 5-6th July we will pay.
Recently we we were too busy.
So, keep calm and don't worry.

Is possible to leave the managing of payments to yakamoto on next times (of course only if he want) for more promptly payouts?

I also think it would be a good idea, the campaign would run smoothly and Op will be able to spend more time on the ASIC's business

207  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Internet filters blocking one in five most-popular websites on: July 04, 2014, 01:47:35 PM
What kind of technology is used in this blockade? A lousy DNS filter, or something more advanced?

Most probably a dns filter as thats the one of the easiest route unless they have some skilled admins who can come up with something similar to the "great firewall" of china

So is it possible for you guys to add a coin mixer on mycelium. I know that the coins would have to be held on a central server so that they can be mixed but can this be possible without the server?

There is something called CoinJoin, which is basically a mixer that doesn't rely on a central server. Everyone creates a single transaction putting their money and taking it out at the same time, then passes that transaction around, and signs it with their own keys once they verify that each person will get their own money back. Once everyone checks that they're not getting robbed and signs the transaction, the transaction is broadcast, and everyone's coins get mixed all at once. No need for servers (other than to help potential mixees find each other), and no need to trust anyone. That's basically what DarkWallet implements for anonymity. But in order to do that, you need to be able to send change, or in this case output from your coins, to a new address, which means you need BIP32 HD Wallets. That's what Mycelium is working on implementing in their wallet right now. Once HD wallets are done, they should be able to get CoinJoin in as well, and then you'll have mixing right in your android wallet.

Forgot there was something like coinjoin but anyway cant wait for this feature to be added and due to the high number of people using mycelium the mixing might be very effective(0% taint)

Thanks rassah.

Will bitcoin ever replace currenries we have today ?

It might happen, but a sort of a revolution has to occur whereby people will lose faith in centralized monetary system i.e if they don't think their money is no longer safe.
maybe an 1/8th of the worlds population
212  Other / Off-topic / Re: HELP PROTONMAIL! PAYPAL BLOCKS DONATIONS :-( !! on: July 01, 2014, 06:37:14 PM
I don't think PayPal has shown any hostile attitude against Bitcoin in its history nor lately.

PayPal doesn't block BTC donations because, well, PayPal can't do this :-)

Did they mention why they are blocking the account?

214  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ashton kutcher talks about bitcoin, again on: July 01, 2014, 06:25:56 PM
i don't doubt that ashton kutcher wants bitcoin to succeed. i just don't know the reasons why he wants it to. i'm not really a fan of his either, since he is more of a celebrity than he is an actor.

Maybe he has invested in bitcoin bought a couple of coins, after all he is a venture capitalist

So there is no use of using CEX.IO? Are there any alternatives?

Pbmining is cheaper compared to cex.io and maybe you can earn some profit, but the downside is that they lock you to a 5 year mining contract

217  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: NewEgg accepting BTC! on: July 01, 2014, 04:45:54 PM
Great news, but we need more consumer adoption!! What good is it if we have merchants accepting bitcoin but nobody to spend the bitcoins?

Well i wouldn't say no one is spending their bitcoins as even the ones who hoard their coins(users on this forum) do actually spend them but in small amounts

Start with Malware protection i.e download Noscript to minimize the chances of you getting infected with malware through drive-by's while surfing the net

And avoid downloading unwanted softs. or clicking on weird links especially shortened urls.
220  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: NewEgg accepting BTC! on: July 01, 2014, 02:56:42 PM
Wow this is huge! They have such large market share that this will drive other merchants to start accepting btc also,

All of us should resolve to shop at Overstock and Newegg for all products competitively priced.  By collectively exercising our bitcoin buying 'power' - we FORCE other retailers into using this currency system too.  We are now a very big group.

Please buy your stuff from Newegg!!

I second this, now Amazon is surely going to have to implement bitcoin payments.

I predict that by mid july or earlier ^^ this will happen. Wink
