282  Economy / Economics / Re: Cex.io: the largest Bitcoin cloud mining service, not a profitable investment on: June 14, 2014, 09:51:30 AM
I'd rather invest in a HYIP (very risky, but don't gamble more than what your willing to lose) at the of the day i will get my share. Cloud mining is not profitable and most professional bitcoiners know this.

it's true. it's a terrible investment. i can see why people get duped into it, since they don't want to buy/build/operate their own rigs. but they must not do the math....

New people to the bit coin world are particularly susceptible. I know I made the same mistake when I got in. Luckily my math inclined wife helped me break down the numbers and realize they were not a good deal.

I also fell for it
283  Economy / Economics / Re: Australia Seizes 360M From Dormant Bank Account (inactive for 3 years) on: June 14, 2014, 09:29:39 AM
Well this is just f**ked up  Angry And what if the owner contacts them does he/she get their money back?
Cause to me this is just stealing...
And three years is such a short time
284  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: GHash.IO has 51% of the network now on: June 14, 2014, 07:28:52 AM
According to Coindesk article...Bitfury to be moving 1.5PH of it's hashing power away from ghash.io with possibility of moving more in the future depending on where they are at later.

You beat me to it Smiley Lets hope more miners follow suit

286  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Sites like amazon which accept Bitcoin? on: June 13, 2014, 07:44:23 AM
They might not be as big as amazon but you might find what your looking for.

purse.io (very creative)
overstock.com
tigerdirect.com
287  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: GHash.IO and double-spending against BetCoin Dice on: June 13, 2014, 07:23:26 AM
Why don't we get a site like coindesk to write about the 51% attack as it would get alot of attention. Maybe this would convince new miners to avoid ghash?
288  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] FrozenBit Multisignature & Multiplatform Secure Bitcoin Wallets on: June 13, 2014, 07:00:39 AM
This looks promising it will make multi-sig wallets easier to use as they still are very technical and give alot of people head aches
+1 for you.  Smiley

289  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can we all write to FBI asking not to sell bitcoins but hodl them? on: June 13, 2014, 06:54:30 AM
1) It is the DOJ not the FBI who temporary holds seized property
2) They sell all of it as quickly as is manageable.  Million dollar mansions, metric tons of gold, priceless works of art, yachts, speedboats, vehicles, stocks, and yes now bitcoins.
3) They are obligated by law to dispose of seized property.  They aren't speculators, they sell it off and add the proceeds to the US treasury.

This happens in most of the countries like where i live the money will be used to pay national debts or fund government projects
290  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is your favorite positive Bitcoin news story so far this year? on: June 12, 2014, 07:59:58 PM
For me, Dish accepting Bitcoins was the best news so far this year. Dish is much bigger when compared to the other companies which accept Bitcoin, such as Overstock, Zynga, and Tigerdirect.

http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/05/29/us-dish-network-bitcoin-idUSKBN0E911T20140529

Me as well but, also bitpay getting more merchants that are accepting bitcoins

You shouldn't use Ubuntu because of privacy issues.
Privacy issues? I am unaware of any and I'm kind of a Linux geek. (Of course, I use Linux Mint myself.)

He's probably talking about the data leaks that are associated with Dash and the Amazon ads; basically, whatever you search for with it is sent over to whomever, Amazon in this case, but not necessarily only them.

For reference:
https://prism-break.org/en/categories/gnu-linux/#operating-systems - see the last comment, which is about Ubuntu

Unless you have opted out, we will also send your keystrokes as a search term to productsearch.ubuntu.com and selected third parties so that we may complement your search results with online search results from such third parties including: Facebook, Twitter, BBC and Amazon. Canonical and these selected third parties will collect your search terms and use them to provide you with search results while using Ubuntu.

So, if you're not already using it, you might want to switch to the Debian based Mint and avoid the Ubuntu one.

Well its very easy to disable those searches:

293  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What happens in the government if Bitcoin takes over? on: June 12, 2014, 06:38:20 PM
Ok, great answers. Now let's see the other side of it. What would governments do without tax money to keep control over the people? Would it be supported by voluntary contributions or such?

They would send men in blue shirts to your house to collect tax.

Raw milk is also less dangerous to someone who started taking it when they were little like 4 yrs old as compared to someone who starts taking when they are much older.

But did you know the maasai of east africa actually take raw milk mixed with blood from a cow and those guys are stronger and more healthier than most of us.

You shouldn't use Ubuntu because of privacy issues.

What privacy issues? An Ubuntu box is way better than a windows one in terms of privacy
297  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it bad to withdraw the minimum amount of ~5,500 satoshis? on: June 12, 2014, 02:27:03 PM
Don't use faucets. They are waste of time.

No its not..

Faucets are only good for beginners plus you waste too much time and earn dust, affiliates are better.

The fucking French are a fucking nightmare.  Do not do any deals with French.  This is the only way they know how to profit because they have ZERO technical ability.

Do you know french IT leads the world in implementation skills?  Cheesy

Like??  You must be high or something...

Nope, it's the Chinese.
They just don't brag about it because they don't want the world to know of their true power.

I agree
299  Economy / Services / Re: New 400 BTC Bounty Pales Roger Ver's 37.6 BTC Bounty for Return of Stolen BTC on: June 12, 2014, 02:00:50 PM
Like I said if I was Davout, I would pay out the 50K and make a public notice that PG (just like other members) was refunded some of the lost money from the InstaWallet hack.

Like I said, Davout has accepted the deal I proposed here, so let see if OP will honor is bounty

I'm available here or by PM to write agreement in the stone

I have a lawyer available to settle the agreement, that I will pay on my part of the Bounty.

I highly doubt davout is going to come through. But hey lets wait n see.
