221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: NewEgg accepting BTC! on: July 01, 2014, 11:59:25 AM
What is really great is that they have not just started accepting it, but they are educating people about it too

This really is great news, could it be the reason why btc prices hit $660 since yesterday?

I wonder whose next amazon, PayPal(scratch that f**ck PayPal), ebay, walmart...

You can find a list of Russian news agencies reporting in English here:
http://stanislavs.org/the-unreported-war-in-ukraine/

Also, you can always run a whole site through Google translate to get a gist of an article like this:

https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=ru&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fria.ru%2Fworld%2F20140630%2F1014147134.html&edit-text=&act=url

Quote
MOSCOW, June 30 - RIA Novosti. Russia does not preclude the filing of the OPCW in the investigation of possible instances of the use of chemical weapons in eastern Ukraine, but as yet it is not enough reason, RIA Novosti said the Russian ambassador in The Hague, where the headquarters of the OPCW, Roman Kolodkin.

It's not perfect, but it's legible.

Here is an article from the Voice of Russia:
http://voiceofrussia.com/news/2014_06_30/Russia-to-complain-to-OPCW-over-suspected-chemical-attack-in-eastern-Ukraine-0452/
http://voiceofrussia.com/news/2014_06_30/Chemical-attack-by-Ukrainian-troops-reported-in-Slavyansk-self-defense-1585/

I hate using Google translate while reading news articles cause the translations end up making little or no sense at all , but thanks for the links  Smiley

Lets see what is the reaction of OPCW, but i have a feeling no actions will be taken if the Ukrainian troops are really using chemical weapons
224  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Kiev forces use chemical weapons. on: July 01, 2014, 08:45:08 AM
Couldn't read anything its all in Russian, any links for sites that are in English?
225  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Germany sacks Verizon over NSA spying on: July 01, 2014, 08:41:32 AM
Now Angela Merkel will learn what PRISM is.

I tend to think she already knew of the existence of PRISM its all just pretending just like she pretended how furious she was when she learned that the NSA is tapping her phone.

And we all know that her government is in bed with the usa gov

Well this is bizarre. I mean how does a tsunami happen without an earthquake having occurred  Huh
227  Economy / Services / Re: Best places to advertise a Bitcoin related service... on: June 30, 2014, 12:07:55 PM
I would suggest you try doing a small signature campaign and see what kind of traffic you might get. And the fact that there are so many signature campaigns around here is proof of how well it works for the owners of the websites

edit:typo
228  Economy / Economics / Re: Buying the Network Effect - People accept $.01/hr to run possible malware on: June 30, 2014, 07:52:29 AM
Should it be called malware if you have already given consent for it to run on your computer?
in internet marketign there is somethign called PPI. affiliates get paid for making people insall stuff - usualy theres hidden viruses etc. this is done trought scareware [omg you have w virus, install this freeware to get rid of it!] or just there is bundled extra programs with stuff.

That's why i never install any toolbar or addons which aren't open-source
229  Economy / Economics / Re: bitcoin and money laundering on: June 30, 2014, 07:42:21 AM
Bitcoin is only pseudoanonymous (though if you hide your IP and use new addresses every time it is pretty much anonymous).

That being said, I can't wait to see what extra anonymity features that Zerocash will be bringing to the table when it is released!
You can use blockchain's shared coin to get the same effect as zerocash but with shorter TX confirmation times as zerocash has all TXs in a shared coin format and when one party "backs out" of a TX then the TX will fail and all the parties will need to try again by all signing a new TX

If your trying to launder coins i would suggest for you not to use sharedcoin as it has been proven not to be so anonymous

Shared coin when used in conjunction with other mixers can mask your identity.

Well if you use sharedcoin+other services doesn't it just mean you are incurring an extra cost because your paying for a service(sharedcoin) that doesn't deliver what you want.

So IMO using sharedcoin in the first place is just a waste of your coins
230  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Remembering all of those passwords without sacrificing security on: June 30, 2014, 07:35:48 AM
Cloud storage without encryption is asking for trouble. I prefer to keep my important documents/files closer to home, but if needed, encryption/decryption is as easy as using PGP. Smiley

That's why a service like MEGA is a good option for safe encrypted cloud storage but for extra security you can put your files in a truecrypt container before you upload them.
231  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is it unethical to participate in a Ponzi scheme knowing full well it will fail? on: June 30, 2014, 07:30:56 AM
well i would just call it gambling as you already knew of it being a ponzi.

How ever if someone have more info on it, or some don't fully understand the it being ponzi; it becomes un-ethical. Insider info or scamming isn't ethical.

Just like how BFL has turned out to be, which is unethical

233  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ask Amazon for Bitcoin Payments on: June 29, 2014, 07:27:26 AM
Maybe they'd rather developmen their own digital coin.

There is no doubt in my mind that this won't happen. Amazon loves to try and do everything, but it all sucks

I wouldn't be so surprised if they did.   Then again, eventually I also get a feeling that some countries may enable their own form of their local currencies into their own crypto.
I think this has already started happening, for example in Iceland they have auroracoin http://auroracoin.org/

But if amazon decided to make their own coin it wont so successful(marketing it would be too expensive for them) they would be better off using bitcoin.
234  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you blacklist/block any coins/addresses if given the option?? BTC BS on: June 28, 2014, 12:25:41 PM
A "group of people" or a government with bad intentions might take advantage of this and try to kill bitcoin. Imagine a service like coinbase which has one of the largest bitcoin transactions, gets their wallet addresses blocked, this would definitely destroy the bitcoin "world"

So i don't think this should ever be implemented.
235  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Western Union lost 2,000,000+ customers' money to Bitcoin in 2014 on: June 28, 2014, 11:21:17 AM
Wrong! I think their customer base has actually increased as there are alot of people who are converting their bitcoins to cash via them.
So western union is not going anywhere anytime soon.

237  Economy / Economics / Re: Cex.io: the largest Bitcoin cloud mining service, not a profitable investment on: June 28, 2014, 10:17:08 AM
Mining is only profitable for hardware sellers - always.
That's not true. I got ROI and a 30% from my mining contract from e-pickaxe.

I find that very hard to believe. Right now, they are charging about 8.3 BTC for 1 TH/s, and 1 TH/s is likely to mine less than 6 BTC. I assume your deal was equally as bad.

Can you show us your numbers (in BTC)?

In November and December I bought 266GH for $8000. That was 10.12BTC at the time. Right now I've got 11.5BTC payed out from them. And they still pay me. 30% was a bit more than the reality I'm about 15% profit. Sorry about that mistake.

Right now they would maybe not go break even and there is better deals available. PBmining was they cheapest/GH when I last checked.
PBMining is the cheapest, but there are certain people who aren't trusting it yet.

I don't like how PBMining locks you in to a 4-5 year contract, even at the low GH/s price. I prefer to keep trading and the like as much as possible.

Plus PBMining hasn't shown any pictures of their mining locations to my knowledge, so that's another downer.
PBmining is likely some kind of ponzi sceme. I would not at all recommend "investing" with them

I don't think pbmining is a ponzi do you have anything to support your claim, cex.io probably best fits that title the only people making money are its owners.

239  Economy / Services / Re: XBTec ASICs. We pay for signature. Weekly payouts on: June 27, 2014, 04:10:20 PM
Payment received, thank you XBTec and Yamamto!

Please don't be discouraged by the impatient members. I know how busy life can be, and after a hard day's work, the last thing you need is people bickering about $10/$20 being late.
See everyone? Told you it'd take at most 72 hours... Well, my time anyways.

But yeah, it's like $20 for people. And even the high-up members have more trust in the campaign than a bunch of people that can earn $25/week. These guys can get up to $60/week, but they normally just stay silent and wait patiently...

SPREADSHEET LINK:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17GmhLcxXBNjlWpZNC6-9Z7BUUrNTIC5wKgQ1JsMWKMo/edit?usp=sharing

MINOR NOTE: I forgot to include the payment address of said members. I will be changing this in the future, as in next spreadsheet. I'll try my hardest to keep everything up to date!

Thank you everyone for such LITTLE requesting this week! It was really appreciated and made life a LOT easier.

Thanks yakamoto for making this campaign to be better organized.

Gotta ask, if your posts didn't get the minimum required posts, will they be included in the next payment?
Yes, they will! If people did not meet 15 posts, they will be carried over. The "Paid posts" column are ones that people either started with or have been paid for. So if you didn't meet the 15 posts, your current "Paid Posts" will remain the same. As such, assuming the OP didn't pay said people, they will have the "Paid Posts" number remain the same as this week (Until they reach 15) and their posts will accumulate until they reach 15 posts. Once the threshold is met, the "Paid Post" number is updated.

Thanks for clearing that up for me i know there were some users who also wanted to know about this too, so thanks.

Good day.
