201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why doesn't the LTC/BTC increase when BTC drops like SC/BTC does? on: February 15, 2012, 02:17:40 PM
Splitting the market is actually quite extreme in my Open Transactions server, because not only is each pair a market, and each pair able to appear both ways round without the two acting as one market, there is also the scale factor that separates each permutation into scales. The available scales have been limited to integer powers of ten but still this makes for a heck of a lot of completely distinct markets. I hope that this will simply lead to the deployment of smart bots that will in effect become the "missing" connections between the scales and the mirrored pairs.

Yeah that is interesting. I think the way you do it is the most "correct" way but when it comes to how people like to trade they certainly seem to like "one main source". All of the cryptocoins are minnows in the world market so who knows what will eventually end up as the dominant form of trading if any of them go big.

Is there an exchange that, like Vircurex, features most altcoins, but which has Solidcoin as the backbone currency against which all others are paired?

-MarkM-

SLC24.com

That only has NMC, so wouldn't qualify for his "most altcoins". Would be interesting to see SLC24 offer the others though.
203  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: artforz and coblee gpu mining litecoin since the start? on: February 15, 2012, 02:04:51 PM
Having to release an entirely new version of cryptocurrency in order to apply changes to the protocol, releasing mandatory updates and changing the protocol every few weeks because you have absolutely no idea what you are doing doesn't mean you are a good coder, let alone a great one.

You do know change is part of improving something right? Unlike Bitcoin we don't want to support a protocol developed in 2009 when we have more knowledge on how a true p2p currency should work. People liking the fact Bitcoin will never change is fine, they can stick with Bitcoin. Smiley

And in regards to artforz it's just because he is wired that way. First with the spam attack on SolidCoin v1, then trying to preempt SolidCoin 2 with a fake CPU coin (tenebrix) because I said we would be moving to a CPU algorithm, then with the GPU SC miner he only used himself and with friends before mtrlt released his. The list goes on, this guy is involved in many "behind the back" dealings that we know of. Only he could tell you the stuff we don't know about, but the things we do know are pretty damning, in my opinion.

Of course on this forum you'll get people thinking he is a "legend" for attacking the "evil SolidCoin" and they're blind to everything else. So what can you do.

Not that I'm aware of , but people talk about such a thing time to time in the #solidcoin IRC channel. I'm not quite sure if the other altcoins have that much "Market" that they can be split up into so many exchanges without the volume being hard to trade under.

Even SolidCoin has some difficulties with 2 exchanges split pretty evenly. For some reason the mtgox owning 95+% of the market trade model seems to work best, and I think bitcoin would struggle somewhat if it didn't have that massively centralized exchange. That being said, having other exchanges around is quite useful as when one exchange closes people can quickly move to another.
205  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why doesn't the LTC/BTC increase when BTC drops like SC/BTC does? on: February 15, 2012, 01:43:36 PM
Part of the reason SolidCoin price cannot drop that much is because the coin inflation right now is only about 40SC per day. When you have investors and pools actively buying up the rest of the SolidCoins that were "mined cheap" there is only one way the price can go.

http://solidcoin.info/economy.html

SolidCoin can no longer be dumped or mined by people with little energy investment. It costs more to produce 1 SolidCoin than it does a Bitcoin, by a factor of 2-4x, and due to the algorithm in place (which factors in electricity price increases and moores law), it should remain this way for quite some time.

To put it in perspective, it costs a bitcoin miner on a FPGA about $0.04 to make a single Bitcoin, and a GPU about $0.75 right now. On the other hand it costs a CPU or GPU anywhere from $1 to $20 to make a SolidCoin, regardless of the difficulty. As SolidCoin's price increases and mining becomes profitable again we will get more miners and the amount of inflation will increase to handle it. It's a type of automatic inflation/deflation control. You can read more on it here :-

206  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: artforz and coblee gpu mining litecoin since the start? on: February 15, 2012, 01:13:42 PM

No... i do believe despite your own...limitedness of creativity.. you have people among your ranks who are creative enogh to think of such a plot..
So either the darkpool IS a botnet, or your guys have a superior miner they use for their own good (and not really helping SC..) or worst you are just making up a story to throw mud on a project that is threatening your petty copy&paste(+removing licences etc) project...

Have you ever done a "source diff" on SolidCoin and Bitcoin? Thousands of changes. Litecoin on the other hand even keeps the name "bitcoin" in many places because it makes pulling in patches "easier" for coblee and the others. You'd be lucky to find a 100 source differences in litecoin over bitcoin. SolidCoin has the best developers and smartest supporters, it is why we are outpacing Bitcoin development. Litecoin isn't a competitor to SolidCoin in my mind, we only have one and that is Bitcoin.

Artforz has publicly admitted to having a GPU miner of scrypt/Litecoin for many months. He has just said it was "Slow". So we can either believe his GPU miner of a hash he introduced was or is slow or the guy that managed to reverse engineer SolidCoin hash from a beta and make a GPU miner is indeed lying to us. You believe the former I'm guessing? The mystical artforz made an ultra slow (about 50x slower than mtrlt's) Litecoin miner? I doubt we will ever know the truth but if people want to believe artforz then that's up to them.

If it wasn't for talented people like mtrlt writing their own code to test such theories many people would still be saying Litecoin is a CPU coin, as would artforz who was doing that just a week ago on btc-e chat.

Wow Coinhunter, you fail completely in prooving any of your accusations...

You do know the difference between an opinion and fact right? If it was SC people as the "dark pool" don't you think we'd be dumping that coin instead of hoarding it?
208  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: artforz and coblee gpu mining litecoin since the start? on: February 15, 2012, 10:45:16 AM
BTW coblee, I paid mtrlt in SolidCoins to release a GPU miner for the public. Perhaps if you could do the same he would be more willing to release it?
209  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: artforz and coblee gpu mining litecoin since the start? on: February 15, 2012, 10:29:21 AM
From what I gather (assuming the GPU miner is legit), it performs better than CPU per watt by a small amount. In other words, it's 10-20x faster than CPUs but also uses almost 10-20x more electricity. So even if the miner is released, it won't kill CPU mining like what happened with bitcoins. And currently, it's much more profitable to use your GPUs to mine bitcoins instead of litecoins with the current prices.

Well using the data you have you may believe that, but what I'm looking at it's 5x more efficient watt for watt at least and it's still early stages. As to whether that means CPUs are still viable, not sure. I guess if GPU mining Bitcoin is more profitable most shouldn't use their GPU to mine LTC? The big issue I guess is the fact it means if most people are CPU mining it makes it incredibly easy to switch some GPUs to it and 51% the chain if they are 5x more efficient.

So why would you assume that the unknown miners are GPU miners instead of a botnet? Wouldn't they be more profitable mining bitcoins instead?

<speculation>Given the behaviour of the "dark pool" it's my belief it was mainly there for some kind of 51% protection and to accumulate most of the Litecoins so less could be dumped on the market. Helping not crash the price. So I'm guessing it was someone related to project development or serious in helping it out ala Artforz. </speculation>
210  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: artforz and coblee gpu mining litecoin since the start? on: February 15, 2012, 10:10:47 AM
Lemme guess, the solution and "The Dreamcoin" coming out is......SOLIDCOIN 3.0.

That is coming out soon, but it doesn't have any network changes (v2.041 is compatible) , just a new default thin client for easy transfer of funds and a much faster and more reliable node software.

If mlrt or any of the other Soiledcoin degenerates had a GPU miner for Litecoin they would release it ASAP as they know it would totally destroy Litecoin. Coblee and Coinhunter aren't exact "besties LOL  Grin Grin Grin

One reason why mtrlt is keeping it to "himself" at the moment is if he releases it and LTC difficulty goes up he makes less total litecoins per day. I think it goes to show with him getting nearly 4MH, or 10% Litecoin mining power himself that something is going on there, believe what you want. Smiley . I think you'll find that right now there are many SolidCoin supporters who don't want to see litecoin die as it gives them an opportunity to mine it with their CPUs and get more SolidCoins.

It's quite likely the "dark pool" everyone was talking about isn't actually a botnet, just 10-20 highend GPUs mining it hard. No proof on that claim, just my opinion.
211  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: artforz and coblee gpu mining litecoin since the start? on: February 15, 2012, 10:05:38 AM
I hope GPU mining is not taking place ....

if so,  later litecoin.

and mining in general for me, until another CPU mined coin arises.

SolidCoin has a custom hashing algorithm designed to closely match modern consumer hardware, both CPU and GPU. Watt for watt they get similar performance on SolidCoin hashing. Litecoin on the other hand was put together by Artforz using "off the shelf" components which turned out to be a bad move (or good if you like GPU mining a chain). This being said until SolidCoin price is over $1 most people won't be able to make a profit mining it so something like Litecoin still has a place for anyone wanting to get BTC using their CPU unless a GPU miner becomes public.

As far as I'm aware in my last talks with mtrlt the litecoin GPU miner is only 10-20x faster than CPUs. Which is less compared to a GPU mining bitcoin 100x faster than a CPU. According to coinotron litecoin mining is 2.4x more profitable than mining SolidCoin which seems odd to me, given our recent economic changes made our cost of production over $1 and we are about 18x away from being profitable yet!

You can calculate it here, http://solidcoin.info/profit-calculator.html
212  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SC stopped at 179999 on: February 15, 2012, 09:58:26 AM
As Schwede65 says you need to ensure you're on the latest version of SolidCoin . Soon this won't be a factor as the client most will use is independent of most of the network related code itself. The benefit being you don't need to download the chain or wait for anything, it's all instant.
213  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: artforz and coblee gpu mining litecoin since the start? on: February 11, 2012, 05:52:17 AM
Incompetent, or maybe not paid enough to really give a damn. Not to mention I said from the start that CPU coins are a fucking stupid idea because even a tiny botnet can trivially 51% em.

So... *what* is that "trivial" bug, and how the fuck do you work around it? Oh right... "seekrit! neener neener!"

Heh, so wait, let me try and understand this new story. You didn't get paid enough to do it on Scrypt coins (funnily enough an algorithm *you* chose for tenebrix that Coblee later copied for Litecoin) but you have time to :-
1) Reverse engineer a SolidCoin beta
2) Code up a GPU miner for it
3) Make it relatively efficient.

But when it comes to your love child chain it's like
1) I spent a whole 2 hours working on that and it didn't work
2) A frickin compiler bug stopped me! The legendary artforz!
3) Over the next 3 months you spend multiple hours talking about how GPUs can't run scrypt on IRC and BTC-e

Big difference there isn't it in regards to the time you put in for SolidCoin...  Grin If you want someone to believe this you need a new story, I guess we will have some "clarifications" coming up.

Getting tired of calling me incompetent yet? No? Okay. keep on then...
So wait, I'm supposed to release a SC2 GPU miner to the public out of the goodness of my heart when you fuckwads publically spread defamatory comments about me? Kindly go fuck yourself.

As for how much GPU mining I have been doing, I had 24 5970s up until about late summer '11... then sold em, because at 0.22EUR/kWh keeping a mining farm after that would be kinda ... stupid, no?

And as for me publically admitting I gave away a SC2 GPU miner? well, did I ever claim otherwise? ... Wait, nobody ever asked! Just LOL ARTFORZ IS DICKMINER trolling from you, which I can honestly claim is false. Now if you said LOL ARTFORZ WROTE A SC2 MINER BY REING SC2 BETA AND GIVES IT TO WHOEVER ASKS... that'd be different. But no one ever came close to that.

Oh you spam a chain and they bad mouth you. Diddums.  Cry Poor little artforz just does nothing to noone and people are picking on him. The big meanies.  Grin
214  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: artforz and coblee gpu mining litecoin since the start? on: February 11, 2012, 01:26:04 AM
Well, from talking with Ahimoth on btc-e, sounds like mtrlt managed to find a workaround for the issues I was having with scrypt miner kernels on GPU.
Short version... any of my kernels that got speeds like that also got 100% invalids. Yet the same kernel worked fine on CPU or if I dropped global and/or local worksizes to silly small levels... which of course made it dog slow again...
And of course RS turning the whole thing into "OMG CONSPIRACY!!1one"... duh, it's RS.

So you're just incompetent then? You get a scrypt miner working and then just give up after no more effort? Then go around telling people that it's unfeasible on GPU due to your few hour effort attempting to see if it was possible?

mrtlt did it in 4 hours.

So you're either incompetent or holding back the truth about how much GPU mining you have been doing. Seeing as you were passing around hidden SolidCoin GPU miners prior to mtrlt releasing one publicly I think your past speaks for itself, including Bitcoin GPU mining. It's hardly a conspiracy when your past is full of this exact thing, it's a logical deduction.
215  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: artforz and coblee gpu mining litecoin since the start? on: February 10, 2012, 04:17:06 PM
Aah there is what this is all about, sc the alternative.. well lets get the miner public and prove it

SC is a much better currency even when comparing to Bitcoin, but when it comes to so called "mining profitability" both LTC and BTC are better currently. That was part of the recent economic change, until SC is valued more highly then mining won't be very tempting to many people.

We could have mined secretly with GPU for much time and got many litecoins doing it. So please put it in perspective about why we are releasing this info to the public.
216  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: artforz and coblee gpu mining litecoin since the start? on: February 10, 2012, 04:07:37 PM
Well.. there still aint no proof. And "Raping litecoin for months" ?? That's total bs, that 6990 uses at least 350Watts. On my cpu's I do about .5 kh/s per watt so the gpu is only 42% more efficient per watt. Even if this is true it's not a big story really.

Firstly you don't know how many watts it uses to mine scrypt, secondly this is early days (hours even). The original SC GPU miner is about 50% slower than what is available now. And future versions will likely extend that for SolidCoin.

As to scrypt, anything between 50% and 200% increase over what is there now wouldn't surprise me. You can pretty much kiss scrypt mining on CPU goodbye because unlike the custom SolidCoin algorithm it isn't a good all round choice for both GPUs and CPUs on a watt for watt basis.

217  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: artforz and coblee gpu mining litecoin since the start? on: February 10, 2012, 03:43:21 PM
Shouldn't this be in off-topic?
It is all without any single thread of actual proof anywhere.
It may be true - but hey I may be Satoshi (hmm I think I've proven that one false at least a few times Tongue)

Right if we didn't announce it and just release Reaper v13 with Litecoin/scrypt GPU mining in it we wouldn't be accused of "Raping litecoin for months" would we. Damned if you do damned if you don't. Tongue  . mtrlt got it working 2 days ago and I announced it today, that's a pretty tight disclosure period.
218  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: artforz and coblee gpu mining litecoin since the start? on: February 10, 2012, 03:33:02 PM
And you publicly 'claim' to be able to do it 25x faster.. how is that different without proof, and no "I'm mining litecoin" in some screenshot aint proof.

So skeptical. Smiley  When haven't we delivered ? Either way you can think it doesn't exist and GPU mining is impossible until the Reaper v13 release if you wish.

The reason I'm announcing this publicly is because I think if we didn't people would realize we were hiding the truth "for some time" when the release is actually made. Just know some people are already GPU mining and it's a lot more efficient than CPUs. It's also likely others have been for some time but would rather not tell Litecoin users.
219  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: artforz and coblee gpu mining litecoin since the start? on: February 10, 2012, 03:18:55 PM
You have no proof for that at all, just making pointless claims. I know one fact which might be frustrating, 1500btc bid on ltc vs 250 on sc. Good time to release some bad news

Many people will admit to the fact artforz has claimed "9KH/s" , he's publicly said it on btc-e chat and on IRC. You can't have a guy that makes a scrypt miner in 4 hours 25x faster than that without questions being raised.

In regards to "buy orders" , you do know SC is on multiple exchanges?

Check out the other major exchange :- http://slc24.com

I also don't really care about the price because I'm not in this for the money, but on last check the price of each SC is nearly 4x that of LiteCoin. If you're against banks, the system and government infringing your freedoms then you should get involved with our project. It's the only currency with a solution to the major problems facing Bitcoin.
220  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: artforz and coblee gpu mining litecoin since the start? on: February 10, 2012, 03:09:21 PM
Why wouldn't he release it? Without this miner released it's just a bs claim

Well he said it would be in v13, but it's free software and it's not like coblee is shelling up some coins to pay for it. Maybe ask artforz for the gpu miner he has been using for over 3 months.
