201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: gov cracking down on ICO's on: October 28, 2014, 02:41:41 AM
So target is the exchanges?

WS also hates the overstock guy....

WS?  Yeah - I think both the exchanges and people selling promises of their company / coin / technology / whatever for $$.

No, not coin(cryptocurrency). Only company.

So Ethereum, SuperNET, BlockNET, etc all should be untouched

Technically yes they should be untouched. But the exchange(especially those in the U.S), are gonna be the ones getting "touched".

Target is U.S based exchanges or those operating with U.S customers etc.

WOn't they have to go after the US customers?

U.S customers? No, the ruling is dealing with the merchants themselves(and has been around far before Bitcoin came out.), not the customers(people using the exchange/bitcoin company).

So? Information in OP has already been known since..Bitcoin was first made(2009) and has been around for decades. It's just being collectively "enforced". Lol

Nothing new.

I've been at times amused by Spoetnik's posting. But I'm done. This guy is on some heavy drugs, or partially insane.

Spoetnik, you've been attacking the coins with the most promising/positive futures; XMR(Monero) and others. Yet, you support blatant shitcoins themselves like Maxcoin. I know you're only doing this because you're desperate and want your past, failed investments to rise(Maxcoin and others), but attacking good coins is not the way to go. You're the lone man out attacking every altcoin out there instead of picking your ass up and making some money by trading, which again makes me question your sanity.

while i tend to agree with you about spotniek - I don't really think somebody selling an exchange between a bunch of $20,000 - $50,000 market cap coins for $1,000,000 after slapping the label "internet of blockchains" on it is all that promising.  they can't even get their group chat, linux / mac releases shit together.

It's all speculation(Everything in crypto is, including BTC). It might sound cliche, but I was on bct when NXT was having it's IPO, didn't give it second thoughts as BTC was pretty high in price that time and I didn't want to invest in something like that. I view Blocknet in the same category.

Most people in this thread haven't even made $1,000 from trading altcoins. Yet they go around attacking every new feature on coins, calling them scams immediately. What a sad bunch.
208  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Blocknet] The internet of blockchains / XBridge / true cross-chain P2P on: October 27, 2014, 08:50:35 PM
I've been analysing the investment potential of this project and detail my methodology below. Essentially these tokens derive their value from the micro fees they receive. As the OP explains these aren't coins -  "is not a coin but a token of value the blocknet adds to every service it enables."

Let's assume you have 1 BTC worth of these tokens out of the 2500 BTC worth of tokens out there. Typically for an ordinary investment, 10% return would be amazing for a year. In crypto where things are very high risk and volatile, people would expect more like a 100% return in a year.

So 1 BTC should give 1 BTC in terms of "paid feeds" over the course of a year. Which means 2500 BTC worth of paid fees across the network. I don't believe the fee structure has been made public or is even known? The term micro fee suggests it will be small. I'm speculating a complete guess at 0.5%. But fees don't just go to the token holders they also go to the node which renders the service, so if that is split 50-50, the amount going to the token holders would be half that. But let's assume it's 0.5%.

For 2500 BTC worth of fees to have been paid, that means 2500 BTC represents 0.5% of all the transactions that have occurred - giving a total figure of 500,000 BTC.

That is right. According to my rough calculations, the network needs to be handling 500,000 BTC worth of volume per year for 1 BTC worth of these tokens to generate 100% return in terms of fees paid. That to me seems unlikely to be happening early on in the life of the Blocknet.

Any thoughts/discussion on my post?

Think of how many coins will be added to the Blocknet. Basically I see it as the more coins added to blocknet(which is what blocknet is about?), the easier it will be to get that 500k btc worth of volume in a year, along with the probable widely fluctuating prices of blocknet shares, you might get 100% return in a week(similar to how btcd's ipo did)
209  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Blocknet] The internet of blockchains / XBridge / true cross-chain P2P on: October 27, 2014, 11:24:46 AM

as i understand it blocknet doesn't implement services. its just the summ of all coins and by so their nodes connected by enabling the xbridge. so if amazon is a coin in you example. the walmart shop would be another coin joining OR the amazon coin expanding its service by hosting shops on its blockchain. both is possible.

the Blocknet is not an entity . Its the joining coins offering services.

this contradicts what synechist was saying

hoertest isnt part of the XC team as far as I can see..

NO ONE SHOULD Use Bittrex. Move to Poloniex or Bter.

Re: Trust required for Zerocash setup

Maybe I am naive, but I think they will find a way to setup Zerocash that people will be able to trust.

It still goes against the whole idea of cryptocurrencies being trustless...

I'm going to dump BlockNET under ITO price so every ITO investor have to wait whales accumulating under ITO price  Smiley It worked with every other pre sale this far  Smiley And it's going to work again. Just have to buy enough and dump it. Smart buy after ITO when it's cheaper  Smiley

That makes no sense, but you go do that and lose your money.

check his post history, all he does it Post massive inflammatory bullshit for a few days, then says "yay the FUD worked now i bought some"

He is a retard

I might be a retard but remember my words when Blocknet goes under ITO price and stays there  Smiley

#mikeisconfirmedretard

Not before it goes far beyond ITO price.
214  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: October 25, 2014, 05:38:00 PM
It's like an early Xmas! Moneros almost for free!! Buy now, be happy later :-) I cant stop buying!

People have been saying that regarding BTC since it was sub $600 I think.

And if they were to buy coins every 3 weeks, they would be perfectly fine on average.

How can you say that? If you were buying Monero every three weeks since the past few months when the price dipped below $2 you would be currently
out a large portion of your investment. Monero has not experienced a price spike and dump during this time, it has been quite consistently falling, much like BTC.

I realized this too, it's basically doing the same as BTC on it's up/downtrends. Which is a good thing(incase another btc runup happens like this May)
215  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Last year I had 3K litecoins and sold them for $5.. now they are worth $90,000!? on: October 25, 2014, 05:35:52 PM
Makes you wonder how somebody can really find out the future strength of these alt coins . . . for example, which 4 or 5 actually stand a chance of becoming the next Litecoin even?

The best candidates so far are primecoin, ppcoin and namecoin. Of course there might be better speculation opportunities around but those 3 look pretty solid so far.

Please don't spread bullshit.

Primecoin's only purpose is something that frankly outside the scientific/math departments, no one else cares about. It simply finds prime numbers, big whup.

Peercoin may be the best best out of those 3 you listed, but it's dead with a shriveling community, and would probably never reach as high as litecoin did.

Namecoin again is a failure. It's decentralized Domain name feature will never work, decentalization does not work with everything. For EX: There are people squatting domain names like microsoft.bit, apple.bit, and theres no way to enforce copyrights if you own a name(like microsoft etc). Basically, namecoin is controlled by squatters and theres nothing we can do about it. Stick to ICANN.

You directed specific comments at me by quoting my speech so I addressed them.  It's unfortunate that you keep insulting me and everyone else.  We might be able to have a decent discussion if you'd relax and not get so emotional about everything.

Not emotional at all. Just giving some time over the weekend for whatever. The days of scamming BTCs for vaporware are over.

Welcome SEC.

So then btcd's centralized supernet with that shitcoin boolberry should be taken down by the SEC, am I right? Take your hypocritical bullshit elsewhere.

How many tokens are people thinking about getting?

im getting 2 Grin

A few  thousand. If im correct one blocknet token/share cost .0002 btc and one XC is worth .0008 btc atm, so ill be buying XC to get 4 tokens per XC at this price atm.
219  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Blocknet] The internet of blockchains / XBridge / true cross-chain P2P on: October 24, 2014, 07:53:10 PM
Again, there needs to be incentive to buy XC itself during the blocknet IPO to get blocknet shares, Ive already proposed something where each coin are given more percentage offs at different times(EX: for the first 8 hours of blocknet you get 15% off when buying blocknet shares with XC, then after the 8 hours is up the percentage off goes down to 10%, then NHZ gets the 15% off the next 8 hours and etc etc). If not, then people will just buy a bunch of random coins in the blocknet, without focusing on 1 coin at a time, which would lead to low or no price increases and no incentive to buy any particular coin.

Bitcoindark went high because it was the core coin for the centralized supernet network, that was incentive itself. There isn't a core coin for Blocknet since they want it completely decentralized, so there Has to be an incentive to buy certain coins in the first place, and as of right now there is none.
