201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Introduction to Crypto Airdrops on: May 16, 2024, 08:16:38 AM
My problem with airdrops in general is not the value of the tokens that I will receive, but the privacy aspect of participating in them.
If the data requested by Airdrop is limited to your name as a user on one of the platforms, there is no harm at all and it will be easy to participate.
However, Airdrop campaigns ask for more personal information, such as data related to your real identity, your address, the name of the bank you deal with, and photos.
For your ID card or passport, and here lies the danger. These projects can collect data and then sell them.

It is not recommended at all to participate in these campaigns or projects due to their poor concept and poor capabilities that do not suggest any expected success, as experiences have proven for more than 90 percent of them. It is also not recommended to provide personal data to any party whose competence to preserve it.

Your idea of airdrops is those airdrops back in 2017. Pretty much 99% of the legitimate airdrops today don't require you to submit any AML/KYC documents AT ALL. Obviously, even I am not fan of AML/KYC.

Airdrops in the year 2022 onwards reward users who test/use their platform, and those who provide liquidity and such (depending on the platform's niche).
202  Other / Meta / Re: Links in Signatures and Posts bad for SEO of a website? on: May 16, 2024, 07:38:28 AM
My opinion: Links in posts and signatures aren't necessarily bad(at most, just slightly bad for SEO is my guess); but the goal for links in posts/signatures shouldn't be for SEO purposes anyway, it's mainly for traffic and brand recognition.

Source: Me. I know SEO and internet marketing stuff but am not necessarily an 'expert'.
203  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Offline Mining Actually a Thing? on: May 16, 2024, 07:19:20 AM
Conceptual and technical flaws aside (because lol), before thinking about mining literally anything, first think for yourself if what you're mining will end up worth something in the first place. But yea if you were to go through with this, make sure to insta dump every day because this likely won't hold up in months/years.
204  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is "Sell in May" really a good idea (in the case of Bitcoin)? on: May 15, 2024, 07:28:23 AM
I dunno, when talking about bitcoin/crypto, there are simply too many factors to take into account(especially in the current economic/regulatory environment) to make a conclusion just based on traders/investors going on some summer break.

Personally, I wouldn't make any decent-sized market decisions based solely on monthly history price data. Cool data though, nonetheless.
205  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: speculative play: ONDO vs GLMR on: May 15, 2024, 06:34:32 AM
GLMR: no narrative and feels pretty dead, to be honest
ONDO: has a decent narrative around it(RWA, BlackRock's BUIDL, etc) for a mid-term trade

I personally won't and am not planning on buying either, but if I was forced to buy either, I'd pick ONDO instead.

You know the drill: nfa, dyor, etc.
206  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: GME:GAMESTOP produces magic in 24hrs on: May 15, 2024, 06:12:30 AM
If I had money in my US stock brokerage account I'd purchase a small amount just for the lulz, but there's no way I'd take it seriously and hold this thing long-term. At some point the DeepFuckingValue/RoaringKitty hype would once again die down, and so will this stock.
207  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Token - How do I go about it on: May 15, 2024, 05:07:34 AM
Reading all your posts and replies, brother while I admire your entrepreneurial spirit, trust me let this idea slide for now and try to understand how markets work first. There are a lot of aspects that you seem to want to force such as market price that shouldn't(and can't) definitely be forced.
208  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Toncoin [TON] to outperform Bitcoin? on: May 14, 2024, 06:31:12 AM
Re: Toncoin [TON] to outperform Bitcoin?

It really isn't new for certain altcoins(like TON in this case) to outperform bitcoin in a specific timespan. The question is — will you be able to take advantage of the price increase long enough? Because at some point, there's a good chance that these altcoins would just end up in the shitters. It's a bit rare for altcoins to outperform bitcoin when talking about long-term.
209  Local / Pilipinas / Re: High Fees sa Electrum on: May 13, 2024, 05:04:23 PM
Generally that's how it works yes.

Itong nangyari sayo concerning input transactions is applicable sa Bitcoin in general.

Just to add though, good rin ang BlueWallet sa pangmobile but then again hindi nito mareresolve ung issue mo.
210  Local / Pilipinas / Re: High Fees sa Electrum on: May 12, 2024, 10:32:48 AM

$5 at the time.

Ito un. Either may mali kang ginagawa(most likely not), or sobrang dami mong ingoing transactions lang na naipon throughout the days.
211  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best way to buy privacy coins? on: May 12, 2024, 05:34:11 AM
This is going to totally depend on what privacy coin you want to buy and what country you're in.

The general answer though would be through peer-to-peer. Not sure which exchanges support P2P trades of the likes of XMR/ZEC though. The alternative is to buy through some shady exchange that doesn't require AML/KYC.

Also note: it's not really possible to buy "completely anonymously".
212  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lost Bitcoin and possible future scarcity on: May 11, 2024, 07:09:07 PM
  • Do you think all dormant wallet (long inactive wallets) are gone forever?
Of course not. There have been wallets that's been around for a decade then suddenly became active.

  • As we are not certain of Satoshi's return, should we be bothered about his dormant wallets?
No. Because it's his money. He should do whatever he wants with it.

  • do you think lost Bitcoin can cause Bitcoin scarcity in the future?
Even dormant wallets already sort of provide some 'scarcity' due to the fact that they're off the markets.

  • From a total of 21million total supply, can you attempt a prediction guess of the total number of Bitcoin that would be in active wallets after all Bitcoin has been mined?
Around 500k lost probably. Just a random guess.
213  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Fake website on: May 11, 2024, 06:41:12 AM
Pretty simple: only use websites(with finance in general, not only bitcoin/crypto) that are established already and have a good following with a good enough reputation. Stay away from lesser-known platforms, especially the newer ones.

214  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did you start investing in bitcoin because of some celebrity ? on: May 11, 2024, 05:47:43 AM
Is it a wise decision to do so or we should do our own research for better results ?

"Should I invest in something because of a celebrity told me so or should I do my own research?!"

Why is this even a question? Lol.

But yea — every person will have their sort of introduction to crypto — from social media ads, through word of mouth, to celebrities posting about it, etc. Mine is seeing negative news through the Bitfinex hack back then.
215  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Privacy features in bitcoin on: May 11, 2024, 12:42:06 AM
There are 3 votes for Against but not saying a word here. That says they need privacy just for voting Grin
I'm generally pro-privacy (any that isn't is dumb), but things are more nuanced than vote no == against privacy. It's more of the fact that privacy upgrades in the base chain can be quite dangerous for Bitcoin stability wise as it would be such a huge upgrade that would put everything at risk.

What in the FUCK does Snowden know about cryptography and bitcoins blockchain.  He was pro-bitcoin for a short while, then started talking a lot of shit about bitcoin years back.
I think we can love Bitcoin but at the same time criticize it.
216  Other / Off-topic / Re: Which of these hot crypto stocks will soar higher this year? on: May 10, 2024, 03:52:10 PM
Michael Saylor, who is known to be one of the strongest enthusiasts and believers in adopting Bitcoin.
OR he is doing it just for the business.  Be honest to yourself.  Saylor may love Bitcoin, but do you think he loves Bitcoin for how great it is or for the profit he is about to ingest?

Why is it one or the other? It can be both! Like how I personally think Bitcoin is great — and I'd definitely root for its adoption, but good lord of course I would really want those sexy profits.

Also, take note that a person who holds Bitcoin is also far more incentivized to actually help Bitcoin; like how Saylor is doing with his Bitcoin-related company investments.
217  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: can't mixed cons be deposited into a centralized exchange on: May 10, 2024, 03:42:03 PM
It will totally depend on the exchange and how strict they are with checking the coins' origins.

Generally though, if you don't want your centralized exchange account to be blocked/locked, just don't. Just sell the coins through peer-to-peer (Binance P2P, etc) as P2P buyers/sellers generally don't care about your coins' history.
218  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as a core subject in our schools - Good or bad idea? on: May 10, 2024, 05:49:29 AM
Honestly, Bitcoin is great but schools are better off teaching basic finance in general, rather than skipping all that and jumping into Bitcoin/crypto. Most people don't even know how to actually save money in the first place, and we're immediately introducing Bitcoin to them? Teaching students finance is far more important.

What will one need to know before investing in Bitcoin?

220  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: VeChain, Promising Future or Bottom of the Barrel? on: May 10, 2024, 02:36:17 AM
I understand your curiosity about my thesis regarding VeChain. My analysis doesn't solely rely on a price projection, but rather on an evaluation of the disruptive potential of the technology that VeChain offers in the logistics and supply chain sector.

I see VeChain as a promising choice due to the solutions it brings to real-world problems in this ever-evolving sector. VeChain's growth is intrinsically linked to the growth and investment in technology in this particular sector. I firmly believe that VeChain has the potential to make a significant impact on the future of logistics as new technologies are adopted to optimize processes, increase transparency, and improve efficiency.

Interesting. But couldn't you apply the same thesis to almost any other Layer-1 Ethereum competitor? There's even a good number of logistics-related tokens running on Ethereum. What makes you put VeChain over other Layer-1s?

Personally though? I know some things take time to develop; but man VeChain has been running since 2018 and they still have very little to show today. They even got outpaced by the likes of Solana/Sui/Aptos/Sei which are far newer.
