Signs of life...?

Chicken bones say anything can happen.  But watch out for a possible W bottom (seen in the bones) before the real rise back up again....

We need to see strength and a volume rise.  Careful out there, eh?
2022  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 05, 2017, 08:48:18 PM

Breaks up or down?

What does the squiggly line indicator at the bottom of the chart say it's going to do? Does the Ronald big Mac Donald indicator contradict the squiggly line indicator?

Think it means that anything can happen - I dont know if we are in a bull or a bear right now, so just holding tight =)

WTF is the point of the squiggly line indicator if all it tells you is that anything can happen?

I use chicken bones, they're pretty good indictator - they tell me anything can happen. Usually.  Very reliable.

www.woobull.com/the-network-effects-of-volatility-and-liquidity-bitcoin-vs-other-payment-coins :

"2016 has been a bull year for privacy coins. Earlier this year we saw mooning of Monero which saw subsequent pumps in other dark-coins including ShadowCash and Navcoin. Then we witnessed a mega-hyped launch of ZCash which peaked at an astounding $5.3k per coin.
All of these coins are Payment Coins competing in the battle win the war to be General Money."

"I will be looking at the leading coins by market cap, namely Bitcoin, Monero, Dash, ZCash and ShadowCash"

"The liquidity of alt-payment-coins have been on a rapid rise in 2016, particularly in the case of Monero which if this year’s trend continues could match Bitcoin in just one year."

"The study concluded Bitcoin would achieve fiat level volatility by mid-2019"

"First up in our alt-payment-coin list is Monero, the biggest payment coin behind Bitcoin. Unfortunately Monero over its 2.5 year history has shown an increasing trend in volatility. We’ve seen a lot more speculators pushing the price around during its 2016 price breakouts. Here we see how keeping liquidity high and volatility low can be like pulling on opposite ends of a tug-o-war. Often high volatility attracts traders which then feeds an increase in liquidity.
Though Monero may be losing out on reduced volatility, it has a very important feature. Unlike Dash, ZCash and ShadowCash it is unique in that it is not a fork of Bitcoin, so it has a chance of winning the payment coin war by competitor implosion should there be a vulnerability in Bitcoin’s codebase. Monero is an excellent Bitcoin hedge in my opinion."

"Bitcoin’s lead in liquidity is not unassailable, Monero could match it in a year, Dash and ShadowCash in just over two."

"Low volatility is much harder to achieve and Bitcoin has a solid lead in this regard. No other payment coin is on track to catch Bitcoin"

"All of Bitcoin’s competitors tote features that Bitcoin is lacking – faster confirmation times and private payments. Both of these features will most likely be coming to Bitcoin as layer 2 protocols in 2017. If and when this happens, the battle for payments and general money will be fought solely on the playing field of economic network effects, that of liquidity and volatility. Bitcoin remains the standout contender in this regard."

Just remembered this post.

Er... 'Low volatility...' '....Bitcoin has a solid lead in this regard'

Just watched Finex drop a couple of hundred USD in a minute  Smiley

Like I said...

Doesn't hurt to sell a few 'too early' Wink

I just bought most of them back at a bit of a discount though.  Back to the rally, now please?

By scrutinizing and evaluating each Dash budget item on a case by case ROI basis, one will find they have largely been counterproductive and often epic failures.

The Lamassu ATM integration project is an ongoing, unmitigated fiasco.  Likewise for the Public Relations contract.

Rather than demonstrate the viability of "Distributed Governance By Blockchain" all Dash accomplished was to show the world how having no single responsible entity (and thus accountability) leads to resources being wasted without corresponding guarantees of intended outcomes.

Monero's FFS is vastly superior because it allows us to vote with our coins, getting our 'skin in the game' by ensuring those who support unsuccessful projects bear the cost of their failure.  That's what we used to call 'putting your money where your mouth is.'

This approach exists in stark contrast to the moral hazard of Dash's budget system, where Masternode owners who are insulated by their Ponzi dividends may wantonly and/or fecklessly commit the entire Dash bagholder community to paying via a hidden inflation tax the cost of their ill-conceived and poorly executed pump/hype/spam marketing ploys.

IOW, the free money which Duffield's centralized exorbitant privilege allows to be printed in unlimited quantities is *intrinsically* misallocated because the incentive structure fails to 'close the loop' by penalizing Masternode owners who vote for bad proposals.

Monero's FFS is exquisitely tailored to subsume that constraint, in that the burden of absorbing the cost of failed proposals falls directly (and exclusively) on those foolish enough to fund them.

You have hilarious trust feedback.

Quote from: kilo17
"iCEBREAKER sent bitcoin first. Super guy to deal with and would highly recommend."

If my feedback is hilarious, it's because the trust rating system on this BBS is a joke.   Wink

Your attempt to attack me for criticizing Dash and unfavorably comparing it to Monero is likewise hilarious.   Cheesy

I wonder which will happen first, Monero reaching $1000 or Dash hitting zero?

It will gradually be de-listed at more exchanges until it's irrelevant - we won't notice when it finally has gone.  Off Polo within 2 years? Likely IMO.

Meanwhile XMR at No.2 this year is looking a decent prospect.  I will settle for Crown Prince, while Dash will not be allowed a seat at the top table.
2026  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: January 05, 2017, 08:54:24 AM
Someone think Monero can hit 100 USD?

Better to put a time-frame with that question. I give it a 1/2 possibility for ever reaching 100 USD. This year, don't think so.

XMR went up something like 2500% this year - you think it's only a 50% chance it can ever grow another 600%?

I'd say that is conservative odds.
2027  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 05, 2017, 08:17:36 AM
If the Chinese are panic buying at any price to get their money out while they can and then cashing out at Bitstamp - would that explain this?

If it is capital flight, it makes sense. What price boats on the deck of the Titanic?

Finex is in HK (still under Chinese jurisdiction) and also not trusted as much.  Stamp is in the Euro zone... money is 'safer', other exchanges are newer and need registering etc.

Edit: Not the volume to totally justify this thoery of course.

Maybe transfers will arrive this morning and we will see Stamp shoot up if it's just lack of cash in there....

Never risk the lot, make good profits on high risks with small stakes, or lower risks with bigger stakes.

And don't be greedy, always sell your position 'too early' it's way better than 'too late'.

This is not always true.

If you sold too early and the price was $100

But selling at "too late" is $500 after a crash...

 Smiley

I was paraphrasing the Rothschilds who said they made their money by always selling too early.   Basically it is always 'too early', until it's too late.

I sold a few at 1130, because it was near the old ATH and gold price and I had not cashed ANYTHING in yet.   You might as well divest a little and realise some profit. Let's face it - those of us here a few years have to take some out eventually.

You may be (personally) interested to know that it was actually cashing out some XMR into BTC which I then used an exchange to convert to old-fashioned fiat.

Buys me that new drive I have wanted at home, so I am happy.  I still have plenty of BTC to enjoy selling at much, much higher prices. And if it goes down, I can be happy too.

I am still looking for ways to go direct to spend, but realistically via BTC is still the best way.

There's no correction happening at Huobi.

yeah and it sucks.. I sold my long at 8424 and it hasn't come down for me to buy back in like the other exchanges have..

Still holding all my profits in BTC but no leverage, BTC trading stake currently up 60%..
So not only has BTC gone up like 40% but I have made 60% more BTC at the same time..

I only wish I had the balls to trade with more capitol, more of my stash..
I'm afraid that if I do trade with more that it would effect me psychologically and I would be less successful..

Never risk the lot, make good profits on high risks with small stakes, or lower risks with bigger stakes.

And don't be greedy, always sell your position 'too early' it's way better than 'too late'.

When we can expect some nice news and see 0.02?

It has been three years and bitcoin still has not taken out the last ATH on Stamp. It took Monero 27 months to best the first ATH. If Monero takes out 0.0265 in less than a year consider it a gift but I would not bet on it. Probably next year.

I will settle with maintaining it's price in BTC (as it has been of late) while Bitcoin moons...

Dollar value in XMR on Sept 4th (ATH) was based upon a BTC price in USD of 600-ish.

So in dollar terms we been there again in these past few days.  And let's face it, in spite of our contempt for fiat in the long term, fiat is still what most stuff we want is priced in.

Now what I want is to be able to spend XMR directly on things I want to buy - privately and frictionlessly with no intermediary exchanges asking for my address and passport.

Then I will be happy....

2032  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 03, 2017, 01:41:00 PM

*Edit3:  The reason of this stagnation is the dollar getting stronger by 2-3% vs. other currencies. (this is from what I see from the currency exchanges)

Stronger dollar = weaker emerging market currencies (& most other currencies) = generally increasing bitcoin price (especially as Yuan weakens further).

As bitcoins price has really diverged recently from Yuan devaluation line, maybe a bigger deval is coming?

Stronger dollar in a bullish bitcoin run = bitcoin stagnation

Yuan devaluing = bitcoin stagnation

Clear? Smiley

Hmm...  But....  An asset denominated in an appreciating currency, is surely attractive to someone in a currency that is depreciating or expected to depreciate against it.

When GBP went down after Brexit, my BTC were worth far more

Just posted this answer in the other thread - but it needs to be disseminated:

Hell of a fight on Polo for 0.016

Maybe panicking shorts holding the rise off - 8000 ish XMR for the last few cents up to it.

And BTC under 1000 on Stamp as I type.  Getting interesting...
2037  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: January 02, 2017, 07:37:08 PM

Yes - personally on the way back down from $20.

Bitoin was 'too expensive' at $5 once.

I am also looking for retirement this year or in 2018. My father will be retired from being a member in the rat race slavery. He lost his physical health to the work.. And he is worth around 1 million euros.
My goal/aspiration is to be retired before him - I am 31 yrs. this year, my father will be 62.

If I am not succesful with Cryptonite, I will try to do it with real estate and appartment investing.

EDIT: I am expecting the appearence of Aminorex any time soon now. Monero is approaching his "cheap coins" -target.

I think in USD terms we're over Aminorex's target.  And if he pops in, he'll be most welcome - he was into XMR before it was listed anywhere.

Good luck with retiring, BTW

EDIT: And we just jumped over $15

Beat me to it! Smiley

I was surprised no one did - only posted as it was so damn quiet and yet the good news is piling up out there.  Gotta love XMR, been smiling like an idiot rather often of late.

No volume on Kraken yet, I did check...  I would put some coins up at silly prices, but I can't bear selling any Wink
