bob and hcp, so everytime there is an update on ledger live... update it. Then connect your ledger nano s to it and check manager to see if there is firmware update, then always update it. Im curious but do you know how often they have these updates? I had no idea the old update from 1.2 was that long ago. So basically if someone doesn't touch their nano ledger s for a few months... its generally still safe right?
Yes i know that nano ledger can send you a replacement... but obviously ppl don't want this and prefer to just use it as is etc.

He uses the rigs for mining other coins (like eth, xmr, etc.) and sells them for buying more beancash. You can use your old laptop to sprouting (staking) Im bit confused with this. So those rigs are to mine other coins... when you say mine... you mean create more coins or something? Because i thought there is only a max supply of each coin but all those coins are not out yet? So ppl could mine them and get coins by mining? Why would he sell those coins to buy more beancash? Is it because he can make a lot more money with sprouting beancash? Do you know if one could you use a chromebook to sprout? So basically if you have a separate computer you don't use... you could just let it turn on 24/7 and sprout your beancash and basically make money this way right? Thus 100000 beancash you have... turn on computer 24/7... you make about 2500 beancash a month so 30000 beancash a year? So say you buy beancash at 0.001. You buy like 1 million of of them so $1000 cost. Now you sprout them all year. You earn about 300000 beancash so now 1.3 million beancash in your wallet? Now assuming beancash price stays at the 0.001 price... then you profited 300000 x 0.001 = $300 on your $1000 investment? So basically if you buy beancash and sprout it... unless the price drops... you can make money this way? But a while back i got beancash at 0.01. The price dropped over 90% already. So basically that situation you lose money since even had i sprout it... well i lose because of the price drop right? So what other coins besides beancash can you do this where the price is sort of stable? Because if its stable, well that mean you can earn passive income then right? |

Are there ppl that would hold all their btc until 1 million? I cant imagine that happening. I mean say it goes up to 50k, im sure ppl who have a few btc would sell right? Then let say they hold... now its 100k... then 250k... i mean if someone has say 5 btc, i cant imagine them not selling at least a portion of 1 right if it hit the 250k mark?

Okay so ppl say you should have at least 100000 beancash in order to sprout.
So say i have 100000 beancash... i dont have that much, would need to buy more.
So if i leave my wallet on all day for 1 whole month, i would earn 2500 beancash. So that would mean at the end of the month, my beancash balance would no longer be 100000... but 102500? Can someone confirm this?
So assuming beancash value does not drop... let say you buy 100000 beancash right now. Then you sprout them for an entire year... that 100000 beancash would have a balance of 2500x12 months = 30000 so 130000 total bean cash... profit of 30000 beancash? Thus you made 30% of beancash by just sprouting?

The other thing is ppl talk about electricity costs. Still syncing at the moment. The beancash wallet seems to use a lot of cpu power? Its using over 60% while its syncing. Is that normal?
So basically if you do anything like sprouting or anything, its going to use a ton of cpu right? Thus if you want to sprout or do anything like that, don't do this on your main computer since it will be using a lot of cpu etc? I was doing other things earlier while running beancash as i need to sync it and my cpu went to 100% usage.

I have 1.4.1 at the moment. So always update it whenever there is a firmware update available right? Otherwise there is a risk like if the firmware is too old? Does anyone know when was the 1.3.1 version update? Such as how many months ago etc? So basically if someone didn't plug their nano ledger s into their computer in over say 6 months, there is a risk of not being able to update the firmware? HCP, you always update firmware every single time you see an update is available right?
To me, that sucks because if someone wants to store their coins on a wallet like this and keep it untouched... and then they can not update the firmware, that seem to be a huge issue... don't most agree?

I just updated my ledger live on my computer. I then plugged in my nano ledger s to my laptop. How do i check if i have the latest firmware update? Does it ever notify you if an update is needed? Or it only does that if you are going to send/receive btc and then it alerts you? Or you have to check it manually?

Okay so let say you don't use your ledger to send or receive btc for a while. But every so often you should definitely open ledger live and login to check your balance and see if there is an update ready to install right? And if it shows that, always do it? But if you don't do it for a long time, would there be an issue with this?
The main issue here is the firmware which means its the nano ledger s right and not the ledger live? So make sure you connect it to a computer at least once every month and log in with your pin? Also i believe i did 2 firmware updates with my nano ledger a while back. But can someone tell me when do they ask this? I mean when you connect it to your laptop, does it say a firmware update is needed and then you go with it? Or you need to click on account manager and check at least once a month? Such as does it notify you when you have it connected to laptop? Or you have to check on it manually?

bob, well i do log into my ledger live account a few times but i do not connect my nano ledger to my laptop that many times. So you mean for the ledger live update, always update it when necessary.
But in the OP example, he isn't talking about that right? He is talking about the firmware for the nano ledger itself right? Thus if he did not connect the ledger to his computer for a long time, this is what caused it? But the firmware update would be shown in the ledger live or previously the ledger manager right? I had to update the firmware 2 times i believe total with my nano ledger
