2021  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Bitcoin Ledger and other hardware related questions. on: July 11, 2019, 01:11:32 AM
Related to this.

1.  What if you bought say a used modem/router?  Then start using it.  Is it possible to get hacked very easily with this if you use a laptop and connect to the modem/router?

2.  What if you bought like a charger for your laptop?  Or what about those powerbanks that work for laptops?  Like those that connect to your laptop to give you a charge when you cannot find an outlet?  Could someone do something to it where when you connect it to your laptop, you can get malware/keylogged?

3.  What about connecting your iphone or android phone to someone's power bank?  Or what about connecting them to an outlet say at starbucks or coffeeshop?  Could someone set something up in those outlets etc?
2022  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Phishing Attack 2018-2019 – A closer look into the stolen funds. on: July 11, 2019, 01:07:45 AM
Okay i did not know it was other electrum versions as well... thought it was only btc version of it.

The thing is this.  If you haven't used electrum in a long time, you have to agree most ppl wouldn't have a clue about this right?  I mean if someone used electrum but haven't opened it in long time and just hold their btc, you can't really fault them for seeing a message there and upgrading it right?  I know lot of ppl say its the person's fault... but if they never seen that message ever and it looks legit since its from the client, most ppl wouldnt think much of it unless they are very cautious about it right?

I didn't open my electrum for a while because of this issue as i didn't want to risk anything.
2023  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Removing Electrum and Exodus Wallets on my Computer? on: July 11, 2019, 01:05:20 AM
Hi only program i removed was exodus.  I just deleted exodus exe file now from my downloads to recycle bin and deleted it.

But what about electrum, electrum-ltc and electron cash?  I still have all these programs installed as it shows all of them in add/remove programs.
2024  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Warning! Be careful when you copy and paste bitcoin address from Electrum wallet on: July 11, 2019, 12:43:15 AM
Does anyone know how this copy and paste issue arise from?  People say malware but from where specifically?  Does anyone know?
2025  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: PSA: New electrum.org phishing attempt on: July 11, 2019, 12:38:25 AM
How did you find that electrum site?  Was it through google or electrum?  Because if you type in manually yourself

www.electrum.org

You should be fine right?
2026  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Bitfi wallet - most user-friendly functionality, does not store private keys on: July 11, 2019, 12:00:11 AM
Is this wallet better or worst than nano ledger s?  Is there a reason why anyone would use any wallet besides trezor or nano ledger?
2027  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: I bought a used Trezor Model T hardware wallet.... on: July 10, 2019, 11:57:50 PM
Has there been cases of this though?  I know with nano ledger s, there was a case but that seller or person who did put a preset pin.  Thus if you reset it, there would been no issue.  But has there been cases of this whether trezor or ledger nano?
2028  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Phishing Attack 2018-2019 – A closer look into the stolen funds. on: July 10, 2019, 11:54:37 PM
Doe anyone know if this was only done to electrum users?  What about electrum-ltc?

Also i had no idea of this but there are other electrum-dash wallets as well.  Did those get hacked as well with the version or it was only the electrum with bitcoin?

Also its been said that there was a message you need to click on to update.  So if you click on that link... what happens?  It brings to you a website?  Or did it automatically download the program?  I assume it goes to a site... then you have to still click on the link itself?  What is the site of the link?  Was it github or electrum site itself but a phishing site?  What if you downloaded the program but never opened it?  Does anyone know if you are still safe if that was the case?   Also didn't these electrum attacks started happening in late 2017?  I remember in early 2018 it was huge but i thought it started in late 2017?  When did those fake electrum wallets started happening?  That was 2017 right?  But it was this complicated and tricky hacking that happened in early 2018?
2029  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Removing Electrum and Exodus Wallets on my Computer? on: July 10, 2019, 11:46:37 PM
I took a look at the electrum wallets i have installed in uninstall or change a program.

Electron Cash 4.0.0

Electrum 3.3.4

Electrum-LTC 2.8.3.5

I haven't opened electrum-ltc in a long time.  I read that if electrum site and electrum-ltc, do not open any wallet where the version is below 3.3.3 right?  So i should just remove the electrum-LTC now as if i try to open it now, good chance i would get that update message to play it safe?  Thus if i want to download electrum-ltc... download it again from the site?

But what about electron cash and electrum?  But i have no purpose of using electron cash anymore.
2030  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Electrum - Lightweight Bitcoin Client on: July 10, 2019, 11:38:52 PM
So electrum has been out since late 2011?

Was electrum and bitcoin core the main wallets ppl used back then in 2011 and 2012 to store their btc?  I assume it was bitcoin core... but you had to download entire blockchain and sync... then ppl went to electrum afterwards?

Was there any hacks or issues like with electrum back then like it had been not long ago with all the phishing?   Or did all this happen right when crypto got big?
2031  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Think I've been Phished on: July 10, 2019, 11:35:59 PM
This is a huge concern for electrum users.  If someone were to open electrum after not using it a long time, aren't most ppl going to be tricked like this?  I mean most ppl who are not tech savy would probably just update it right?  More than 1/2 ppl would probably do this right without checking it out first?  Thats what im thinking.

Also when you had that update message, did you click on the link and it updated?  Thus it opened your chrome browser?  Or you had to copy and paste it to chrome to download it?  Also you can reject the update right?  If you reject it, how do you do it?  Can you ignore it?  Or is there an X to click to close that message?

2032  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Removing Electrum and Exodus Wallets on my Computer? on: July 10, 2019, 11:29:47 PM
I use nano ledger s now to store my btc and bitcoin cash.  I have other wallets that i use because they are not compatible with nano ledger s, so that is my only option.  Like waves and beancash.  I also had wallets that i used previously such as electrum, electrum litecoin and electron cash- i used this to claim my bitcoin cash.  I even have exodus wallet that i downloaded a while back.  With exodus, i downloaded it to see how it was like.  But then i read tons of security issues with it.  I believe i tested it out on my computer then uninstalled it.

As of now, i have no use for exodus.  I however do notice it in my download folder... as it says exodus windows 64.  But its not in my uninstall or change a program.  That means at the moment, i dont have exodus installed right?  Now if i want to completely remove exodus, i just go to my downloads folder, highlight exodus icon, delete it.  Then delete it from recycle bin?  I want to remove it permanently from my laptop.  But as of  now its not there anymore right?  Leaving the exodus windows x64 setup in the download folder does no harm?  Or best to delete it since no plans to use it ever

Also does anyone here use electron cash wallet for bitcoin cash and still use it?  I know there are ppl that say they downloaded the wallet to claim their bitcoincash, then immediately delete the wallet.  I always kept it in my computer even though there is no purpose of the wallet of me as i keep my bitcoin cash in nano ledger.  I do see it in the uninstall or change program.  So i have to uninstall it by going there and clicking it and uninstall right?  Then delete the electron cash setup that is shown in my downloads?

I also have no purpose of electrum ltc and electrum anymore.  I own no more litecoin and do not have any btc in my electrum anymore.  So i do the same... go to uninstall or change a program, and remove each one right?  Then go to my downloads and remove the electrum setup programs from downloads?  I have tons of electrum setup in my downloads like version 2.7, 2.7.8, 3.3.4 setups there.  So first delete electrum from uninstall a program, then delete every single one right?

The thing is im hesistant of opening electrum anymore because of all those issues a while back.  But right now i have no more btc in electrum.  So to make it safe, might as well remove everything electrum from it?  I did thought... hey might as well just leave electrum on my desktop because if i ever want to use it again, i can by clicking it.  But by then, there is already a new updated version of it right so i have to download new version anyway?  So you suggest me to delete all electrum setup folders now as well to be safe?  Again, i use nano ledger for btc so right now there is no purpose of me using electrum.
2033  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is BNB the Next Bitcoin? on: July 10, 2019, 10:47:32 PM
This coin was at 10 cent at the all time low.  Were there ppl that bought like 10000 of them or $1000 worth?  Because right now... its over 33 dollars.  So that meant 1k worth of binance coin back then is worth about 330k usd right now?

I heard about binance coin but i didnt bother with it because i thought its just an exchange coin... no purpose.  But isn't this coin like buying stock in the exchange itself like amazon?

Did tons of ppl get rich from it?  I mean 1k usd of bnb back then is over 330k now right?  So someone with 10k worth of it and didnt sell till now has over 3.3 million usd?
2034  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: List Exchanges Hacked 2011 / 2019 on: July 10, 2019, 10:42:33 PM
What about binance and bittrex hacks?  Did any of them cause customers to lose coins or only binance and bittrex themselves?
2035  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Nano is better than Bitcoin! Do you hold any? on: July 10, 2019, 10:41:33 PM
Didn't it went from 3 cent to 30 dollar? Why did it drop back down to 1 dollar then?
2036  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to keep up to date on newest altcoins? on: July 10, 2019, 10:28:50 PM
Are there threads that ppl update with the incoming coins?
2037  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Is $25 XLM worth your privacy (identify). on: July 10, 2019, 09:28:43 PM
Are they still doing this at the moment?  So its free $25?

Now i wonder something else.  What if you asked other friends and other ppl you know to help you out on this.  Let say they don't mind.  That way they all get $25 a person.  Of course giving your privacy is not good.
2038  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SHIFT] The New Web | IPFS/Phantom | ShiftNrg.org Hosted Decentralized! on: July 10, 2019, 09:27:26 PM
So what? You have a procuration to speak by everyone else? I didn't follow?

Price keeps on dropping.... is anything good going to come out with shift?  Someone said phantom is out already.  So why is the price so low then?

Have patience, you can't get rich overnight. Shifts time will come very soon. Smiley The devs are working on it day and night!

I bought shift a while back.  The price is keep dropping... Besides the all time high with every other coin, even now... shift price is not going up...

All the money was made in 2017 selling at 50000-60000 sat...
I'm shocked to look at my records and this is, like, my 3rd biggest winner ever...
wow, I forgot this coin even existed just like everyone else  Grin

Welcome to the world of shitcoins  Smiley

OK, so I spent 30 minutes looking at this = storage + hosting on DPOS chain + IFPS...
Everything is half finished and it's a siloed project with no synergy, so who is gonna use it?
Maybe you could float this story in 2017, but in 2019 your competition is billion $$$ projects like filecoin, etc...
SHIFT has more volume on Livecoin than Bittrex... virtually all projects that are down 96% are a lousy investment...
Also down 50% vs BTC in the last 3 months... too bad even if some good tech buried in here  Angry

This project has a long way with errors. But .. Mistakes are not made only by a slacker. Today it is difficult to call this project "shitcoin".
Most likely you have lost a certain amount of coins.

is shift still good to hold then?
2039  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many people or percentage has held at least 50 or 100 btc at one point? on: July 09, 2019, 10:29:32 PM
Well what about those from a long time ago when btc was around 10 dollars and less?  Or when it was 1 dollar?  Surely ppl had like 500 plus or more when it was 1 dollar or less and didn't treat it like its worth anything?
2040  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Delisted coins from Bittrex and withdrawal fees on: July 07, 2019, 06:24:35 PM
Why is bittrex keep removing coins every so often?
