1021  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Best Exchanges for US Customer To Buy/Sell Crypto to US Bank Account? on: May 05, 2021, 03:39:51 AM
Okay so if your option was only to cash out to your usa bank account... and your options were

Coinbase/coinbase pro

gemini

kucoin

ftx

Is coinbase pro still the best in terms of fees?  What about kucoin and ftx?
1022  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase vs Coinbase Pro Question on: May 05, 2021, 03:32:11 AM
So right now can you use an example with btc being around 55000?  Let say one wants to sell 0.l btc at around the price shown on coinbase/coinbase pro.  You want to sell it pretty quickly right now.. thus u dont want to wait it to go up to 55500 or risk it going down lower.  Let say right now you want to sell it on coinbase pro.

How much would you get for selling 0.l btc right now on coinbase pro compared to coinbase right?  Again, you want to just sell it immediately to a seller now that is offering the highest price.

Also when you do this, its not possible to sell it to someone offering a lower price right?  Imagine one person wanting to buy say l btc at 55000.  The next person want to buy 0.7 btc at 54900 etc.  So when you sell the entire 0.l btc... it will always be from the highest bidder right?  Again i dont want to be like okay i want it to automatically sell once its a certain price like 55000 or 55500.  Its more like okay the price now on coinbase/coinbase pro seem to be around 55000.  I want to immediately sell it for fiat.  So wouldn't selling on coinbase pro still be very quick though?  Like imagine you want to sell that 0.l btc and say by the time you log into your account and go to exchange, you see its now 54800 but you dont care... you want to sell that 0.l btc now for fiat.  So that should be very quick right since you only have 0.l btc to sell?
1023  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin dominance hits 62%, alts lagging behind on: May 05, 2021, 02:42:16 AM
Is anyone here really concerned about btc dominance now?  I know a while back when altcoins went high, btc dominance went really down... i think it was around 37% at one point years ago when alts all started booming?  Or was it lower than that?

But how did btc dominance get back to the 70 percent dominance again?  I know all the alts went down when btc went down but im trying to remember... how did the btc dominance go back so high etc?

But anyone here more concerned now about btc dominance than back then?  For some reason, i am having a tough time thinking btc dominance can even go back to say 65% dominance anymore.
1024  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to Secure Our Wallet to Prevent Being Hacked! on: May 05, 2021, 02:27:19 AM
We can prevent being hacked if we download and install chrome extension. Mew chrome extension and MetaMask chrome extension are available to install.
No. Chrome extensions are why people are getting hacked.

It is not necessary to check our balance everytime by entering our private key. We can easily be able to check our balance and transaction from:

(a) https://etherscan.io/
(b) https://bscscan.com/
(c) https://tronscan.org/
(d) https://www.blockchain.com/explorer

At the time of transaction, we can use our private key. If possible, store private key offline.

5. Don't Trust SSL Only
Just because a website uses an SSL certificate does not mean that the website is completely secure. Buying an SSL certificate is not a complicated matter. We should double check the website before entering private key.
Please DO NOT key your private key into any website.

Storing your private keys offline doesn't make anything more secure. You'll probably be looking at making an air-gapped wallet in this case.

7. Enable 2FA
It is important to enable 2fa if our wallet serve this feature. We can use google authenticator, mobile number and gmail as 2fa method.
2FA is not perfectly bulletproof against malware attacks. There are many variants of malwares which seeks to exploit the user differently and the most common one is a clipboard malware which your 2FA won't protect unless you double check your transactions.

Im confused what that person means here.  They say you could enter your btc address to check balance right?  The way this person phrased it was like you could enter your wallet seed into it and check it.
1025  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Transactions Fee Are More Expensive Than Ever on: May 05, 2021, 01:57:06 AM
What is the site that i could check avg fees for sending btc?  I recall someone said its cheaper to send it at the beginning or end of the week and they showed a graph of it... but what site is it from?
1026  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if, you had invested $100 in BTC (From 2010 to 2021) on: May 05, 2021, 01:50:18 AM
Did people throw or toss btc around like it was nothing back then?  I always heard that people back then would buy some btc back then to gamble on sites and treated those coins like not much since well they were pennies or a dollar each.  Like imagine they want to buy 500 dollars worth of btc when btc is a dollar.  Then go to online casino and gambled with it or things like that.  Im sure tons of people treated btc like it was nothing back then right?

Also wouldn't that mean tons of people back then probably all had at least l00 btc at one point or more easily?  Like tons of people probably had l000 or l0000 btc when it was worth l0 cents each etc so they didn't treat it like anything?
1027  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Live Not Showing All Transaction History? on: May 04, 2021, 10:26:12 PM
Has anyone here cleared cache on ledger live without an issue?  I read one case where someone on reddit said their old transactions disappeared from ledger live... and when they did this, they reappeared back.

Again, i had btc transactions a few years ago that showed in my ledger live history.... that no longer shows up on ledger live anymore.  It was always there till about few months ago.  I don't remember exactly when... but i am close to positive even late last year... i saw those btc transactions from years ago in ledger live.

But if i do the clear cache, do i need my nano ledger s connected to laptop or not?  I did read on reddid someone said make sure you have your seed with you in case.  I have that... but is that necessary?  I am bit confused why you need the seed here since you are doing something with ledger live and not the ledger nano itself or the firmware?  Want to make sure of this before i click on clear cache.

HCP tells me my situation makes no sense because its not possible for all my transactions to not show up ledger live but yet my btc balance is correct.  So if you check my bitcoin 1 segwit account when you click on it, you see the correct amount of btc there.  But when you look at all my btc transactions, it doesn't show the earlier transactions of when i transferred my btc from electrum to the old nano ledger that broke a while back.

So my concern is... could my btc balance be not connected to my correct replacement nano ledger s where 6 months ago, i put in the old seed to restore it... and say its another seed?  I did wrote down a few seeds but again i was pretty positive the seed i used to restore it 6 months ago was the correct seed.

Do i clear cache while not having my nano ledger s connected to it to see if that would fix the issue?  HCP said maybe i didn't add the correct accounts or something when i did the seed restore months ago.  But i did read on reddit on person had issue with transactions suddenly disappearing from years ago.
1028  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Live Not Showing All Transaction History? on: May 04, 2021, 09:37:57 PM
On ledger live right now.... portfolio shows the correct total balance and correct asset allocation for bitcoin and bitcoin cash

When i go to accounts and click on

Bitcoin Cash 1 - It shows all the transactions I ever done with it... which was basically me transferring bch from electrum cash to my old broken nano ledger live a while back.  It shows the correct BCH balance.

Bitcoin 1 Segwit - It doesn't show all the transactions I done... basically the first few transactions where years ago, i sent my btc from electrum to my broken nano ledger s.

Now in both situations here... I notice the transactions only go back to 2019.  Now... with BCH, i only did transactions with it in that year so all transactions are correct.

But with BTC, I did transactions before that year but they don't show up on ledger live?

Again im positive months ago... those first few transactions I did with sending electrum to my old nano ledger s showed in the portfolio history.  But now... its not there?  I did check reddit and i saw someone mention they had this issue a while back but not sure if it was resolved.

So how do i confirm that I do indeed have access to the Btc and Bch in ledger live?  Is the only way to confirm this... send a decent amount of btc from my replacement nano ledger s to coinbase to see if it goes through?  Like when you send btc from nano ledger s to coinbase or another site... it will show you what is the max balance you can send right before you send it?  Because right now when i connect my nano ledger s to laptop and click on send... it shows the page where to put in a btc address... and i see option of choosing Bitcoin 1 Segwit - Correct Balance...

But how do i confirm that is the correct balance connected to my replacement nano ledger s?  I guess type in a decent size of btc... and put in coinbase address and send.... then it would tell if it would be allowed to send or not?  Because right now without connecting my nano ledger to my laptop... when i have ledger live open, i could go on click send, choose Bitcoin 1 Segwit - Correct Balance... but of course im not sure if that balance is for sure connected to my nano ledger s right now.

Anyone have advice for me here?
1029  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Live Not Showing All Transaction History? on: May 04, 2021, 08:55:46 PM
Did anyone else have this issue?  Again my ledger live does not show my entire transaction history.  Years ago when i first got the nano ledger s, i transferred my btc from electrum to it in a few tranactions.  So when my nano ledger worked, it always show the entire transaction history.

Then when it stopped working, i got a replacement nano ledger s and restored the old nano ledger seed into the replacement nano ledger and the seed confirmed to be correct.  Then when i used ledger live, i am pretty positive it showed my entire transaction history dating back since i first had btc transferred from electrum to it.  It was only few months ago... aka when i made this thread... i notice... hey how come i don't see my old transactions where i first transferred btc to ledger live.  Again its not there.  I thought maybe its because i didnt do ledger live update in 6 months... but i did update recently and still it doesn't show those transactions.

It does however show my correct balance for my btc and bch accounts though when you check the portfolio or accounts.  So is there anything i need to be concerned about?

1030  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 🔷 Waves Tech - a powerful blockchain-agnostic ecosystem on: May 04, 2021, 08:15:26 PM

Or is the enter password on that page the current password I already had for the waves.exchange wallet?
[/b]

yes, try this password, i think it's ok.

Okay thanks... can anyone else confirm this is fine?  Waves.support... is that fine?

Again im confused why it shows the third option as seed... but when you click on it... it ask you for your password and not seed.  Again, im using the same computer has i did the last time i logged into my waves.exchange account so shouldn't it be same password?

But what confuses me is so everytime i want to log into my waves.exchange account, i put in the same password right like i did previously last year when the client didn't look like this?
1031  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 🔷 Waves Tech - a powerful blockchain-agnostic ecosystem on: May 04, 2021, 06:51:58 PM
Hi.  I haven't logged into my waves.exchange account since last year... but I'm still using the same laptop device though.

Back when i used it, i open waves.exchange, enter my password and then log into my waves wallet.

But now... i see three options.  Which option do i choose?  And if i choose the seed option... well it ask for my password not my seed.  Does that mean the password i have for waves.exchange wallet before still works for this?  Again im confused with the third option of seed phrase because i thought it would ask me to type my waves seed but it says type password... not your seed.  So im confused here.
1032  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 🔷 Waves Tech - a powerful blockchain-agnostic ecosystem on: May 04, 2021, 05:13:17 PM
I haven't logged into my waves.exchange wallet account since last year or so.  When I did, all i had to do was type in my password to access my waves wallet.

Now it says to access my account

You can do it by

Email
Ledger
Software

I do have nano ledger but did not download waves wallet on it.  Does anyone here do this and recommend it?  I do have nano ledger for my btc and bch.

So if i choose email, i need to put my email and a new password.  Then i confirm it with a link sent to that email?  So when I then log into waves.exchange wallet each time, i type in my email and password to log in each time right?  But I never have to type in my waves seed ever?  Wouldn't I have to enter my waves seed the first time when i do this or you don't need to?

Other option is software where it says log in via seed, private key or keystore file.  I have my waves seed now.

So if i click on software it then shows

Welcome Back

Password
Enter password(not seed phrase)
Continue

So it seems i could type password and then click continue.

So I'm confused with the software option.  If I choose this option, do i still need to Sign Up or not?  Because i thought software means i could type my seed on this line.  But it says enter password and not seed phrase?

Or is the enter password on that page the current password I already had for the waves.exchange wallet?

1033  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Live Not Showing All Transaction History? on: May 04, 2021, 04:52:52 PM
Updated ledger live to the current one.

I still don't see my first few transactions when i first sent btc from electrum to my old nano ledger s.  Is that a concern?

HCP told me to update ledger live from the site, then do firmware update if needed... i have the updated firmware since the last one was over 6 months ago... but i do see someone posted a new firmware update now.

Also he told me to update each of the apps.  I have btc, bch and btg apps but no coins on btg.

Does anyone know how often each of the coin apps update?  I never updated any of these apps since 6 months ago.  I also didn't know you need to update the coin apps.  But that should be no problem right?

But do all of you use that ledger recovery app on your nano ledger just to confirm your seed is correct?

Again my issue here is the balance and accounts that are showing on ledger live... I want to make l00% sure that those balances are indeed connected to my seed/current nano ledger.  Remember my old nano ledger stopped working a while back so i got replacement nano ledger and put in the seed to restore it which confirmed worked.  But i want to make sure that the seed i put is l00% connected to the balances on my ledger live accounts now.

1034  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Live Not Showing All Transaction History? on: May 04, 2021, 12:43:34 AM
Wait so you need to manually download ledger live updates now on their site?  Back months ago, when i log in ledger live, I would see ledger live update available and i would just click on that to update itself.  Thus i never had to go to ledger site directly to download an update.  So you all don't see ledger live updates anymore in the client like in top right corner anymore?
You still get the notification on the top of your Live window. I still get it. But if you don't get it anymore and Live has issues, perhaps a reinstall would do good.

Is that how it is with the ledger recovery app?  Also... if it confirms it is correct, what would the message say?

Also... if it does confirm... that means whatever shows in my ledger live balance such as my btc and bch balance is l00% directly connected to this seed and my replacement nano ledger s right?
Honestly, your seed story is quite confusing but I'll try answering your question.

I don't see why re-verifying the seed would make you feel better in any way about it to be honest. You can re-check it if you want to, but as long as the accounts in your Live are the accounts that you've added using your ledger, yes - everything should be 100% connected to your seed. If you get another ledger and add a completely different seed to it and then add its accounts to your Live as well, you'll have the accounts from both seeds.

does that confirm the seed I used a while back to restore my seed... is in fact connected to all the accounts in ledger live.
What exactly is it that you're so scared of?

LEDGER 1: you generate a seed and add a Bitcoin account called "L1" in Ledger Live. You generate a receiving address, you deposit 1 BTC onto this account. Your Ledger Live knows that you have the account called "L1" worth 1 BTC.
LEDGER 2: you generate a seed and add a Bitcoin account called "L2" in Ledger Live. You generate a receiving address, you deposit 0.5 BTC onto this account.. Your Ledger Live now knows that you have two accounts, "L1" and "L2", worth a total of 1.5 BTC.
LEDGER 3: you generate a seed and add a BCH account called "L3" in Ledger Live. You generate a receiving address, you deposit 10 BCH onto this account.... Your Ledger Live now knows that you have 3 accounts: "L1" worth 1 BTC, "L2" worth 0.5 BTC and "L3" worth 10 BCH.

You can have a thousand different seeds. As long as you add the accounts for each of them to your Live, you will have the correct balance shown for all of them at the same time. As long as you did not miss an account for one of your seeds, you will have the right balance showing up.

Given that you have a legit Ledger Live install and the receiving address has been successfully verified using your Ledger's display, chances are almost zero that your receiving address is not yours. If your Ledger generated the said public key, it is indeed yours..

Okay so i think i will uninstall ledger live and restall it.  But when I do this, i just uninstall like normal in remove programs in windows l0 right?  Then install ledger live directly from ledger website?  So once i install it, do i need to create a new account and password or could i use the current ones i have no?  Or does uninstalling ledger live automatically mean i need to do a new one?  So i would need to add my accounts again connected with my nano ledger?  Anyone else have this issue of no updates showing for ledger live?  Again i use to have updates on ledger live every week but i haven't seen any updates for the last few months.  How do i check what ledger live version im on?

Well i mentioned that when i got the replacement nano ledger, I entered my old nano ledger seed into it and it showed the seed as correct.  And when i went to check my ledger live accounts and log in as normal, it still showed the same balance for btc and bch like it should. But when my old nano ledger s stop working... even when I log into ledger live, it showed my btc and bch accounts with the correct balances.  That make sense since i can't even send or receive btc to my broker old nano ledger.  So for a while because I did zero transactions on it, obviously no coins were moved at all... unless of course my seed was exposed.  Thus the balance for btc and bch had to stay the same when i had broken nano ledger and no seed with me.

I didn't get a replacement nano ledger until a bit later.  Thus there was a time period where my original nano ledger stopped working... and i couldn't reset it with my seed because I didn't had my seed with me.  Also at the time, i wasn't sure my seed was l00 percent correct since I never tested it with a reset with my old nano ledger.  So when i finally got a replacement nano ledger and had the seed with me, i entered it into the device and then it showed seed was correct.

The accounts in ledger live was exactly the same... but someone told me that I need to delete those accounts on ledger live because say those accounts on ledger live was associated with another seed... well it still would show that only right since that is always there? So they said delete those accounts.  Then re-add the accounts when your replacement nano ledger is connected to your laptop... and see if those exact same
btc and bch balances show up the same.  If it does, then there is no concern.

For example let say I deleted those accounts on ledger live when my old nano ledger broke.  So everytime i log in ledger live, obviously i can't see any balance or account for btc and bch.  So had i put the correct seed into the replacement nano ledger and it was confirmed correct... well there shouldn't be any accounts shown on ledger live right?  I recall you still need to manually add the accounts yourself right?

My concern was... the seed that I entered into the replacement nano ledger was correct... but that seed is actually one of the three seeds i generated when i first got the replacement nano ledger... but its actually one of the two addresses that i didn't sent any btc to and thus were one of the first two btc wallets/seeds i created and then intentionally wrote wrong password three times to erase it.  Does this make sense in what im saying?  Because the third seed i created with the original nano ledger s... is the one i sent my original btc from my electrum to it.  Again, when i got the replacement nano ledger, I didn't create a new wallet... i clicked on restore an old wallet and put my old seed from the original nano ledger s into it.  That worked and confirmed.  And even though im close to l00% sure that seed i entered into replacement nano ledger is the third seed i generated in the original nano ledger s i got... i want to make sure its the one with my btc and not the first two wallets i created which were basically created to reset and wipe both since i was concerned about tampering.

So few months ago, I did one transaction where i connect the replacement nano ledger s to my laptop and got a receiving address on replacement nano ledger screen... then entered the address to a site for them to send me btc.  They eventually sent the btc to me and it showed in my latest operations history... and that btc was then added to my current btc balance.  So imagine my btc balance was l btc and I didn't do any sending/receiving btc for a year or even longer.  I finally decide to request some btc... and i finally got it...say it was 0.005 btc.   Then my balance now shows l.0005 btc in the balance which would be correct.  My concern is... that address that i receive the 0.005 btc... I obviously have that btc in my replacement nano ledger s.  But how do i make sure i still have full access to that l btc that shows in my ledger live?  Does that make sense or is it confusing?

Because right now... say my ledger balance is l.0005 btc.  If i were to right now send say 0.05 btc from my replacement nano ledger to a site or electrum, well if it goes through... then i know i have full access to the entire l.0005 btc.  Correct?  But if i only send say 0.0002 btc from it to a site or electrum, obviously that will work since i know i have at least 0.0005 btc on my current wallet.  I remember i asked HCP a while back should i send some btc to another wallet just to make sure the coins in ledger live is connected to my current replacement nano ledger... he told me it was completely unnecessary so i never did it.  But months ago i did do a receiving transaction with it... so that should confirm it right?  The thing is i have to own the address with the l btc right?  Because if say the 0.0005 btc address I received was not connected to the l btc address... wouldn't it show the 0.0005 btc in another account on the ledger live?  Like you would see one btc balance of l btc... and another one of 0.0005 btc?

Does that make sense?

Okay so apparently im still using old ledger live... version 2.17.1.  I saw this is the version I'm using where im checking add/remove programs.  So is that the reason why?

The last update I did with ledger live was late last year or so.  I remember i always got ton of ledger live updates and update it almost every week last year.  Then after that, I didn't get any ledger live updates ever since... must been like 6 months or so that i haven't seen any update and i see the ledger live im using was installed in late last year.

But any ledger live update i did ever... it was through the ledger live software.  Thus when it showed ledger live x.x available, i would do it from the ledger live program etc.  There was never a concern with this right with ledger live ever?  I know with electrum, there was with the fake electrum.

So what do i do now?

I don't need to uninstall ledger live first right?  Just go to ledger site and update whatever is the latest version and i'm good?  So maybe that would explain why it doesn't show all my transaction history all the way from the beginning?  Do i need to check like im downloading the correct program like how people do to verify electrum is correct?  Or as long as i go to correct ledger site... im fine with the update?

It does show my correct btc and bch balance though.  When i go to ledger live and accounts i see

Bitcoin 1 (native segwit) - 0 btc

bitcoin gold 1 (segwit) - 0 btg

Bitcoin Cash 1 - Correct Amount of BCH

Bitcoin 1 (segwit) - Correct Amount of BTC

So is there any concern here?  Like me not updating ledger live for like 6 months is not a big issue right?  Again i always do updates for ledger live... but i never saw one for months and wondering why.  I know there hasn't been a firmware update for at least 6 months so i never done this.

Do i need to make sure i have my seed here with me before i do anything?

Also assuming my btc and bch balance is correct, is there a chance when i do ledger live update, the btc and bch balance won't be the same as what is shown on ledger live now?

Wait so you need to manually download ledger live updates now on their site?  Back months ago, when i log in ledger live, I would see ledger live update available and i would just click on that to update itself.  Thus i never had to go to ledger site directly to download an update.  So you all don't see ledger live updates anymore in the client like in top right corner anymore?

You say the last ledger live update was 5 days ago.  Well when was the last one before that?  Again, its been months i believe since i saw a ledger live update available notification on my ledger live after i log in which i thought was strange.

Okay those X's i guess i will just close them then.

Well reason i mention those two seeds was i wrote those down just in case.  I know i didn't send any coins to that wallet but i did wrote it down.  Again, i never tried those seeds on any device.

The only seed i entered in the nano ledger replacement was the third seed i wrote down which is connected to my first nano ledger i got.

The reason why i generated two seed wallets and reset each was because in case there was any tampering... i just like to wipe the first seed i got and second seed i got.  I was told back then no need to do that but if i wanted to, no big deal.

Okay when i test the seed in the ledger recovery check app, do i need to manually type every single letter of each word in my seed?  Or is it going to be like when i first restored my seed in the new nano ledger where i type the first few letters, then the word suggestions come up?  Example say one of my words was garden.  Im not sure if that is even a seed word but use that as an example.  If i type in like g a r , it would then show words.  Is that how it is with the ledger recovery app?  Also... if it confirms it is correct, what would the message say?

Also... if it does confirm... that means whatever shows in my ledger live balance such as my btc and bch balance is l00% directly connected to this seed and my replacement nano ledger s right?

What do you mean if i had any funds in a btc address generated from a seed that i used in my first nano ledger s that stopped working?  Im not sure what you mean by that?  Well even if i didn't restore my seed in the new ledger live... ledger live already showed the correct balance when i logged in before. During that time when my old nano ledger broke, i log in ledger live and it still showed the correct btc and bch balance.  So when i put in the seed in new nano ledger and it showed correct, well i think someone said ledger live should still show the same balance no matter what... but you need to make sure its connected to the right seed.

The thing is once I restored my seed into the replacement nano ledger s... I did not do any transaction whether sending or receiving until a few months ago... when I received some btc to my replacement nano ledger. Again, the btc receiving address generated was the one shown in the screen in my replacement nano ledger s.. and then after a bit, i received the tiny bit of btc and it show in the ledger history.  And that tiny balance was added to my original btc balance.  So I wanted to know... does that confirm the seed I used a while back to restore my seed... is in fact connected to all the accounts in ledger live.

Now if i were to send a bit of btc from my nano ledger  to a site or electrum and say i send the the tiny amount of btc i received last time... and say tiny bit of btc already in my wallet before... example say i had l btc in my ledger live for a while back... i received 0.0005 btc months ago.  So now l.0005 btc balance.  Like if i send 0.05 btc... and it works... then it would confirm i own all the btc in ledger live right?  Well that would be obvious yes... but there is zero point of me doing this right?  My concern is my original ledger live balance of btc and bch... is somehow not connected to this replacement nano ledger after I restored the seed.  Because when my old nano ledger s stopped working, I didn't do any transaction with it for a year or so.

Okay so how much is the minimum btc one has to send then when doing a transaction of sending with nano ledger s?

Well i wanted to know what is the minimum amount i can put as sending if say i don't need to send it quickly etc.  Like right now... twenty dollars would get transaction done very quickly.  But im surprised less than that it would work as well.  But as of now, what is the usd amount that is minimum one could do to send if they dont mind it taking one whole day for it to get through.

I also.. i dont want to use electrum anymore because i havent updated in a while.  I know people say its safe to use it with ledger live... but i havent learned how to do that yet.  So electrum is in essence a watching wallet right?  So electrum offers you option to adjust sending fees to how much you want but nano ledger s with ledger live limits you?  If so, how limit you?  Like you need to put minimum fee as so and so... but electrum can go even lower?
1037  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Live Not Showing All Transaction History? on: May 03, 2021, 05:47:19 PM
I went to the bottom of ledger live and saw there was like a blue arrow that points up and clicked on it... all it does is go up to my recent transactions.

On the bottom of the ledger live latest operations history... it doesn't show my first few transaction i transferred btc from electrum to nano ledger s.   It shows That's all at the bottom.  There isn't anymore transactions that you can scroll down.  So what is the issue here then?

Also I haven't seen a ledger live update notification in a long time when i logged into ledger live.  When was the last one?  I saw someone in another thread mention there was one not that long ago?  Everytime i log in ledger live, it shows synchronizing... then synchronized.  Previously if there was a ledger live update, i would see it in top right corner.  But i haven't.

Also i never clicked the X to close that message of there are ongoing phishing scams on our userbase, please be careful and never share your seed phrase.  Do i need to X that?

Also i notice there is that message below it of backup pack where if you click left arrow or right arrow it gives you other information like ledger academy, staking with algorand etc.  There is also option to X that as well.  Do you do it?  I have this message and above message always there and never X it.

But that doesn't have anything to do with ledger live updating not showing right?  I haven't seen a ledger live update available in months already and i log in ledger live at least once every few days etc.  Back then i always saw an update almost every week or two months ago.

Okay i know my post sound very confusing so im going to make it sound simple.

Years ago, i had my btc in electrum.  Then i got nano ledger s.  When i first got the nano ledger s... i got the seed they generated and i wrote that seed down.  But i then intentionally put pin wrong three times to reset device.  Then i did this again with a second seed they generated.  I wrote down the second seed on paper.  Then intentionally put wrong seed three times to reset the device.  Then when i generated a seed the third time and wrote the seed down on paper... i then sent tiny amount of btc from electrum to the nano ledger s.  Once that worked, I sent the rest of my btc from electrum to the nano ledger s in a few transactions.  Thus it wasn't like i sent test transaction and it worked... then i sent the remaining balance in second transaction.  I recalled i sent multiple transactions from electrum to nano ledger s as i didn't feel comfortable sending my whole balance from electrum to nano ledger s.

Now the big thing is this.  When i wrote the seeds down... like all three of them... of course the first two are not important since i never sent any btc to it... thus the third seed i had is the one i sent coins to... i never did a reset of my device and entered the seed to see if it was correct.  Thus i didn't do this with any of the seeds.  But then again, if i never sent any coin to the first two btc wallets, then there was no point of me entering seed words to it right?  But even with no balance, doing it would confirm the seed works right?

Now much later on, my nano ledger s stopped working.  So i then got a replacement nano ledger s.  When I got it... i typed in my seed into it to restore my device.  Remember... i never tested my seed ever.  So back then what i should have done was after sending tiny bit of btc from electrum to old nano ledger s... I should have put wrong pin three times to reset it.  Then type in the seed to make sure it works... thus if it does it would show the tiny amount of btc i sent from electrum to nano ledger s... but I never did this.  So when I entered my seed into it... I had ton of issues at first.  But eventually the seed was confirmed correct.

The thing though was... when my old nano ledger s stopped working, I was still able to log in ledger live and view my btc balance with no issue.  But of course that should be the case.  So once I had restored my seed into the new nano ledger s... I checked ledger live and saw the same accounts there.  But the issue here was Im not l00% sure my seed that i typed in.. is directly tied to the accounts on ledger live.  The reason being... remember i wrote down three different seeds... with the last one being the real seed?  I thought it might be possible my balance is on one of the other two seeds... but the odds of that was very tiny as i was pretty certain its the last seed i wrote down.

But HCP told me to delete all the accounts on ledger live and re add them... when i did this, i did saw my btc and bch wallets show up with the correct balances.  So HCP said if it does do that, your seed that you restored in the new nano ledger s is indeed connected to those accounts.  I asked him... do i need to send some btc from my nano ledger s to electrum just to test it?  He said not necessary.  So I didn't.

Now few months later down the line, I wanted to receive some btc to my nano ledger s to make sure it works.  So when i did this... i copied and pasted my btc address that it show on my the new nano ledger s screen to my laptop and copied it to a site which i would receive btc from.  It was for tiny amount of btc.

I then received the btc a bit later on and you see the transaction on the latest operations history but also... that btc balance was added to my current balance on ledger live.  So for example... let say my btc balance on ledger live before i received the btc transaction was say l btc to make it simple.  Let say that transaction that i received my btc was for 0.0005 btc to make it simple.  Then after that, ledger live shows balance of l.0005 btc.  My concern was... there is no way the l btc for example could be connected to another seed of mine right?  Since when i connected the new nano ledger s to my laptop and got the receiving address and copied/paste to the site i was going to receive btc from... i received it... and it then added to my balance... then the whole balance in ledger live i see now is connected to my new nano ledger s with the seed i restored with it a while back right?

How in the world is it safe carrying the seed with you when it travels?  I mean if you lose it or anything like that... where is your backup?  Or is that your only backup?

I know lot of ppl seem to be against storing it in a password manager like lastpass/keepass and then storing it in the cloud... such as dropbox or gmail...

But why do very few ppl seem to like the idea of multiple safe deposit boxes at multiple different banks?  I mean if you had say 50k worth of crypto... well having multiple deposit boxes cost say 250 dollars total with a few boxes.  Isn't that still good insurance since you paying that much to protect your 50k worth of crypto?  Now imagine its l00k worth of crypto or more.  Or someone with 500k worth of crypto or more.  Do people that like literally just keep a seed on paper and leave it at apartment/home?  Surely for ppl with huge amounts of crypto... safe deposit boxes at multiple safe deposit banks make most sense?

How can you give the seed to multiple people?  What if something happens to one of them?  Then what happens?  What if you no longer talk to them or they don't want to talk to you even?

I thought even if the passphrase... you aren't protected if you had to open your ledger live on your laptop though?  Obviously you dont write on paper on desk that said okay 0.l btc on main wallet and the rest in hidden wallet as that would be obvious.

Okay so you say delete the accounts you want to hide... and then readd them later.  So that process is very fast to do both delete and readd?  But i thought someone said if you connect your ledger to laptop and ledger live... it cold automatically rescan all accounts... is that correct?  If so, couldn't someone rescan your ledger live themselves?

Well i haven't used electrum in a while.  Again i kept my coins there but since i got nano ledger... i didn't even want to try using it anymore because of all those issues they had.  But can you or someone else confirm this with the delete and readd accounts?
