1041  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where do you store your seed? on: May 03, 2021, 03:58:09 PM
I store my seeds of wallets in different Note books.Storing seeds in online places is very risky and unsafe. Few weeks back  My friend got hacked his wallet because he stored seeds in google drive and lost  his all tokens.

How did your friend store his seed in google drive?  Was it like he wrote it on wordpad or something and didn't encrypt it and just saved the file there?  Or did he encrypt the document?  Did he use password manager like lastpass/keepass?
1042  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Storing my seed in Lastpass on: May 03, 2021, 03:56:33 PM
Okay didn't know that about lastpass.  So is keepass the only password program to never gotten hacked then?  I heard some other one like lpassword i think but maybe thats the wrong one?

Umm... i store my seeds online with a password manager as i described.  I know people said don't do that... because I didn't have any good option because i thought... as long as i have my encryption password and cloud password aka dropbox/gmail...i thought that was fine.  Of course that would mean making sure my computer has no malware/virus.

That is why i started asking... maybe its maybe to just store the seeds in multiple safe deposit boxes at different banks.  Im not asking the other way around...

Well is passwords to your email/sites and banking all you should put in keepass/lastpass then?

I always felt seeds would be safe there... since well... someone needs to have your password for keepass/lastpass... but also they need your cloud username/password as well.  Now the cloud part is obviously much easier... but how they going to get your keepass/lastpass password assuming its completely unrelated to your email if you never wrote it down anywhere online.  Now i know if you get malware/keylogger on laptop, then thats completely different story.
1043  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: ViaBTC accelerator minimum fee on: May 03, 2021, 03:50:00 PM
I hear ppl talk about l0 sats but how much btc is that in decimals?
10 sats is 0.0000001 BTC. No one can tell you what the total fee necessary is without knowing the details of the transaction you are trying to make.

At the moment, a fee of around 20 sats/vbyte is necessary to try to get in to the next block, but a fee of 6 sats/vbyte will probably confirm within the next few hours. However, if you want to use ViaBTC, you need to pay more than 10 sats/byte (not vbyte, in this case). Again, no one can tell you exactly what that fee will work out to in vbytes or in total without knowing the details of your transaction.

The best thing to do is simply to enable RBF, and then you can bump the fee later if you don't get confirmed in the time frame you want.

How much btc is 10 sats/byte?

I didn't know about sats/vbyte or sats/byte etc.

So for example, say i want to send l00 dollars or l000 dollars worth of btc from nano ledger to say coinbase, what would you recommend me to put as the sending fee in nano ledger?  Assuming i dont need it to get to coinbase as soon as possible etc.  Is RBF automatically enabled on nano ledger/ledger live if i never played with the settings?

So waves price has went up a lot... is there a reason no post has been made on this?
1045  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin dominance hits 62%, alts lagging behind on: May 03, 2021, 03:42:30 PM
Is this a huge concern for btc people?  What was the lowest btc dominance it went to?  Also it then went back very high though so how did that even happen?  Asking this because when btc goes up a lot... altcoins seem to go higher etc.

1046  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Bitcoin Sending Fee Viabtc Accelerators? on: May 03, 2021, 03:41:22 PM
Okay so the people that said you still need to make sure when you send btc with your wallet... you need it minimum l0 sats right?  Such as if you do anything less... then using any btc accelerator of any type wont work.  Is that correct?

How much btc is that l0 sats exactly?  Because doesn't it come to at least 5 dollars still?  But the last person mention its l dollar so im confused on this.
1047  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Viabtc help on: May 03, 2021, 06:05:34 AM
If im reading that correctly, you need to pay few hundred dollars to accelerate it because you sent with too little of a fee?
1048  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: ViaBTC accelerator minimum fee on: May 03, 2021, 05:57:09 AM
I haven't sent btc in a while.  I use a nano ledger s.  Years ago i had btc in electrum and sent btc when fees were very high and i sent with very low fee but used viabtc to accelerate it for free.  Recall you had to do it at the top of the hour.  Is it still the same right now?

So what is the minimum fee i could put now in ledger live with the nano ledger when sending?  And then using viabtc afterwards?  I hear ppl talk about l0 sats but how much btc is that in decimals?
1049  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Bitcoin Sending Fee Viabtc Accelerators? on: May 03, 2021, 04:45:07 AM
So I haven't sent btc in a while.  I use a nano ledger s but back then used electrum.  I know back then... I believe when i used electrum, I would send with a very low fee.  Then I would go to viabtc accelerator site and put my transaction id and then it would do the transaction much faster for free of cost.  Now i know fees to send btc is pretty high now.

So if i want to send btc from my nano ledger s to a site or someone else... do you recommend doing the default fee which seem to cost around 20 dollars now?  Or send it with a very low fee... then use a site like viabtc to accelerate it?  Or it won't work because too many people use those sites now?  Back then i recall you had to do it at the beginning of the hour and they only did x amount of transactions only.

Thanks.
1050  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Live Not Showing All Transaction History? on: May 03, 2021, 04:27:15 AM
Now not that long ago, I did do a transaction to receive some btc to my replacement nano ledger and when I did... it showed up in my ledger live transaction and that btc balance was added to my current btc balance. This is when i had my nano ledger s connected to my laptop and it generated me receiving address of course.  But because I did that... that means 100% the balance shown in ledger live right now with btc and say bch is 100% directly connected to my current nano ledger s right?

Like right now i'm a bit concerned that small amount of btc that I received to my replacement nano ledger... yes that amount is connected to my current device now.  But there is no way its possible the bulk of my btc balance isn't connected to this device/seed right?  Because right now i'm considering sending a decent bit of my btc to electrum ... like whatever i just received in a transaction in btc not long ago... and say a tiny bit of btc in my original balance before this transaction... just to make sure i have full control of my btc with this nano ledger.  Is that necessary or completely unnecessary?

Like for example say u got l btc balance showing in ledger live to make it simple.  Then you receive like 0.0005 btc in the transaction and it was your first time doing a transaction with a replacement nano ledger s.  That transaction did go through and you see it in your ledger live history.  Remember the receiving address you gave the site was the one generated by your replacement nano ledger when its connected to it.
If your balance shows l.00005 btc, then there is no concern right?  Like you have full access to that balance whatever it is?
1051  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Live Not Showing All Transaction History? on: May 03, 2021, 04:21:36 AM
Okay so when i go to ledger live, since when i created the thread, it still doesn't show the first few transactions in my ledger.  It was one of the few transactions i first did when i got the ledger and transferred my btc from electrum to the nano ledger.  Now it does for some reason show the transactions that happened a bit later i moved say bitcoin cash to it though but that was a bit later.

So what i like to know is on your ledger live... how far back does your transactions go as in transactions and years?  For me, I only did several transactions on my ledger live as I didn't do much transactions.  So its literally right there all my transactions.  But if you do tons of transactions.. do you need to scroll down?  Is there that option?   Asking this because i like to know how ledger live history looks for people that do tons of transactions.

I want to know... do you guys have transactions that go back many years like 5 years back on it?  Because im wondering how come it doesn't show the first few transactions I did when i first moved my btc from electrum to nano ledger as for a few years... those transactions always showed at the bottom of the transaction history but no more since the last time i posted it.

1052  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Best Place To Store Your Seed? on: May 02, 2021, 10:11:21 PM
Well Winklewoss Twins apparently store their seed in safe deposit places throughout the US.  Obviously they have a ton of money.  But still if you have like a decent amount, wouldnt it make sense to store it that way?

Example if someone has say 50k worth of crypto... storing it in safe deposit boxes cost 60 dollars a year probably for each box... wouldn't that make sense in that you are paying less than l% a year of your crypto?
Imagine someone with l00k worth of crypto or more.  I dont know how storing it in bank safe deposit boxes... the seed ... in multiple boxes at different locations... is a bad idea.  I mean if the manager or employee somehow got into it... they only got half the seed etc.

In a way its like paying for the bank safe deposit boxes are like insurance so to speak?

1053  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: A little secret of BAKERY (BAKE) coin! BAKE speculation!!! on: May 02, 2021, 10:03:17 PM
How in the world do US people even buy BAKE when i see its mainly on binance?
1054  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BNB to $1k? on: May 02, 2021, 09:59:51 PM
This is insane.  I still remember when it was a dollar... thought it was going to be similar to like usdt where pegged to the dollar etc.
1055  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: 25th Word in Nano Ledger S on: May 02, 2021, 08:57:13 PM
This is a lot complicated than it looks then.  I mean i thought the passphrase would be protecting you with your hidden wallet but if you use ledger live which i assume majority of people do... then you can't do that.

The fact that you say log into ledger live and click on add accounts and thats all it scan everything, how does even this passphrase even protect you much then?

So you install ledger live and update everything first, then basically delete the PROGRAM itself each time then as in remove the program?  Or that doesn't work either since well if you download the ledger live program again on you laptop, you could still use your ledger live password or you need to create a new ledger live account?

Because how come I don't see anyone mention about mainly using electrum then if you are doing passphrase for hidden wallet?

I dont see any mention from ledger live about oh you want to do a hidden wallet... well you need to do passphrase and second pin for that access... but you also need to know you can't use ledger live etc...
1056  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you travel with your Ledger Nano? on: May 02, 2021, 07:25:44 PM
I don't find any issue traveling with it.  But where are you keeping your seed then if you traveling for a long time?  That is the bigger question here.  Because if something happens to your ledger wallet, well as long as you have seed... you are fine.  But if you don't have it with you when traveling, then you can't use it until you have your seed.
1057  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: travelling internationally with a hard wallet on: May 02, 2021, 07:24:16 PM
Has there even been a case where a person couldn't enter a country or was asked hey what is this hardware wallet etc?  Only thing i could see is it getting stopped at customs when its shipped to a country... i read a thread on this.

But it looks like usb stick unless you get those trezors.

But again, what about your seed though?  I mean if you going to travel for a while, you going to leave your seed in your house/apartment if say you are gone for months?
1058  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best Way to Carry Your Seed When Traveling Or Moving Abroad? on: May 02, 2021, 06:52:39 PM
I heard about yubikey but what happens if its lost or stops working though?

1059  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where do you store your seed? on: May 02, 2021, 06:18:49 PM
Okay so it seems like the options are

Write seed on paper and leave it in apartment/house.  But do people even break it in pieces?

Put it in document and encrypt it and store it on usb stick

Put it in document and encrypt it and store it in the cloud

Type it in password manager like lastpass or keepass and put it in the usb stick

Type it in password manager like lastpass or keepass and put it in the cloud

Write it and put it in a safe at home

Put it in multiple safe deposit boxes at different banks

Break the seed into like three parts and leave it with different people

But most still agree don't leave it on the cloud even if you encrypt it and use password manager?  Obviously taking picture of it and putting it on your phone or just writing it on wordpad and emailing it to yourself is bad idea.  But encryption... as long as you dont get malware/keylogger on your laptop... you are safe right?  But of course you can't always be sure your laptop/computer is malware/virus/keylogger free even as careful as one can be right?
1060  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Storing my seed in Lastpass on: May 02, 2021, 06:14:10 PM
Has lastpass ever been hacked before?  Someone mentioned of a password manager that was recently hacked... and said like if you installed updates during a certain time, then you got hacked.  Anyone know anything about this?

Also would you store it on lastpass or keepass or are they about the same?
