2042  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: July 06, 2023, 04:21:55 PM
The new rule started to be applied in the NBA summer league.
The first flopping penalty was given to the Golden State Warriors in the Sacramento Kings vs Golden State Warriors game played last night.

You can watch from the link below.
https://twitter.com/herseynba/status/1676577174881443840

Very interesting to see this. I’m sure it’ll be called plenty in the upcoming season. I am a little surprised that the flop call was on a 3-point shot like that. I would have expected it to be a drive or a screen. I also wasn’t aware this was going from a fine to a technical, but I guess it makes sense given how much month these guys are making now.

Does it mean that NBA will be boring next season from this flopping call and the game somewhat slow because it's going to be a technical foul and the opposing team getting a free throw?

So let's see how the new rule, for sure players are going to adjust again specially for those who are used to this kind of "flop" plays.

No news yet on Dame's trade, seems to be so quiet and it only means no deal has been done or there are still like ironing things out.

Players flopping left and right isn't also entertaining IMO. It kinda ruins the flow of the game and a lot of teams are resorting to this 'strategy' rather than get the ball around and make points that matter. It also affects how the ball is handled by these players because they can literally just flop in the moment of a turnover. I wonder how will the players that do this react to this change? They have to really up their handling game if they want to make sure that they won't lose the ball to a turnover and possibly lose points in the process.

2044  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Internet Apocalypse, Handa kaba? on: July 05, 2023, 11:14:48 PM
2045  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Discussion - Being an Active Poster in the Gambling Board on: July 05, 2023, 10:43:44 PM
To be fair, there are a number of things I learned from some people here in the forum just because I read their post. It is not really life-changing although it has helped me develop strategies in gambling and helped me discover a number of tricks on some casinos that I usually play on. It sure helped me make more informed bets by just following the threads on sports (NBA, F1, esports) that a lot of posters are actively participating in. Overall, the Gambling and Gambling Discussion board helped me to become a better bettor in general.
2046  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Virtual bug? on: July 04, 2023, 11:50:01 PM
If I wouldn't have any means to verify the result of a game then I simply wouldn't bet on it. Also, if the platform does this to me once, I would most probably let everyone know about it to make sure that no one will ever experience the same thing again. 0 to 5 is an insane feat that anyone can do in a football match, let alone in just a few minutes of game time. Even if it's just a virtual game, there's no way that a team would be able to score 5 goals if they haven't scored a single one in the past 82 minutes.
2047  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Irony of Bitcoin Cash's Rise on: July 04, 2023, 11:19:18 PM
I don't think it's because of the regulations and whatnot revolving around regulations on trading cryptocurrencies. BCH is known to pump on occasions that bitcoin itself is receiving some positive price action. Well, almost all alts does some positive price movement whenever bitcoin does so it's not really surprising anymore. Plus, given how limited the usage for BCH is and how little the actual market is aside from traders and hopefuls, why would it benefit from the regulatory green light? It just doesn't make sense.
2048  Economy / Economics / Re: No petrol/diesel car sales by 2035/ Reality or dream? on: July 03, 2023, 11:58:13 PM
So, will this goal be achieved by the year 2035? Will the cars be more efficient and at a good price compared to current prices, or is it a policy that may take decades?
There is every tendency it could be achieved because I believe that they are more technological enclind, like from the part of my country where CO2 is that common we may find it very difficult for ruling out a diesel and fuel engine cars. The electric engine are more environmental and economical friendly which is far more better and easier to use than C02. As per the price, as time keeps going the more lesser it becomes because usually when a newly products is being flooded in the market there would be a higher demand which could possibly inflate the cost price since is on a higher demand but with time it becomes available as usual vehicle after fuel/diesel might have gotten rid off.

Technological advancement isn't the hindrance, but rather the companies that are built around petrol. These guys will try their hardest to prevent electric car domination, and it will be the hardest battle that electric car manufacturer will encounter. People are actually raring to buy electric cars, and are actually opting for the said cleaner alternative for transportation. But what can they do if the governments themselves are not cooperating with this advancement?
2049  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you find it offensive to be referred to as an addicted gambler? on: July 03, 2023, 11:37:48 PM
In the same sense, their say towards you will not change even if you're not that addicted towards gambling or not even close to become an addict. Let's face that reality already as they will always have a say about you, no matter what you will do.

The important thing is that, like what you've said, we are transparent to our own family and that they know the reality and our status towards gambling. For sure they will understand because you are open to them but if you do that secretly, expect the exact same opposite of it.
Yes people are get used to stereotype all the people, when they heard that someone is gamble they already think that someone is addict. So just like them, let us just get used to it and don't mind them as ling as we are happy and we are being entertained by gambling as long as we have discipline and we know how to control our emotions over it.
Gossips. That's all they can do but they cannot hurt you or your feelings if we just ignore them. They have no proof of it, they can call us whatever they like but in the end, it's our own life that we should be worried about and not the things other people will say especially if they are not part of the family, circle of friends, or a relative.
I always tell stories with my Saturday night friends about how I bet on a sport (NBA most of the time) and they are actually amazed especially if those are winning bets. In fact, they like to do it too when the season starts. But the point is, I never once heard them call me an addicted gambler, we are all just happy sharing stories of how we gambled when we are young afterward. No one is judging anyone, no one is stopping anyone, and we just like adding more fuel to entertain us during a game which is gambling against each other or the sports bookies.
In fact, I won a bet of a full round of beers and snacks against a friend betting for the Nuggets. Cheesy

I think what I mean is, friends and families won't judge you easily but other people who don't really know you will tell gossip without any remorse. There will always be those kinds of people.

Exactly. We choose what offends us, and if it's something that's petty coming from other people, it's best to ignore it. Unless of course if it's damaging your reputation and already affecting your work and family, then act accordingly. At that point, addressing it privately is better to avoid more issues arising and more parties getting involved. Plus, it helps resolving the issue quite faster since you are directly in contact with the person that is mislabeling you into something that you aren't.

In my line of work, any such issue isn't really a problem. I work in the healthcare industry, and I'm known to gamble regularly but not on amounts that are worrying. It doesn't cause a lot of negative comments, though it does cause a lot of people to come to me and borrow some money lol.
2050  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Silliman University College of Law Professor Launch Platform To Educate Bitcoin on: July 03, 2023, 11:13:26 PM

2051  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does lottery rewards expire? on: July 03, 2023, 10:44:57 PM
Depends on which lottery providers are you playing with.

If it's online lottery, they most certainly have a time period for you to collect your winnings. Same goes with physical lotteries - they have a period in which you collect your winnings, and if you do not collect it at that time period, that amount will either go back to the organization or be donated to certain charities. It depends mainly on the organization handling the lottery; they have different rules on claiming your prize.
2052  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Any advice for invest my first 600$ in altcoins? on: July 03, 2023, 10:22:09 PM
The best advice for you is better just stick with the hype. AI coins is so hype right now, try to find more information about FET and AGIX you will be amazed with the project and i think both of this coin is gonna be lit in the next bull run.
He wants to hold it until 2026 and I don't think that's a good idea to stick with the hype if he's long term on this market.

The best idea is to buy bitcoin and hold it until that time comes. $600 won't get him a whole bitcoin but soon, we'll see the bull run and we don't know if it's going to be doubled or tripled or more than that.

Rest assured that he'll stick to the stability that bitcoin has and whatever will be the trend, bitcoin is here to stay.

This is what I don't like on coins that are purely built on hype and not actual value: they crumble so fast that they don't hold that much valuation as time passes by. These assets are risky, and I wouldn't really keep my money on the same asset for a long time. You're right, it's best to invest in bitcoin and keep it for a long time and you'll have a higher chance of getting some worthy profits and returns. Also, if ever it doesn't perform well at a certain time period, you can hold on your bags and still expect to get something out of it in the next few months or so.
2053  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: DISCUSSION-How hard is it to beat a sportsbook? on: July 03, 2023, 09:23:52 PM
There are still lots of bookies that do not impose strict KYC requirements, though their legitimacy is always hanging in the balance and you do not know when will they screw you up with your winnings or deposits. There are still some local bookies here in our country that operate with huge sums, and are still raking millions per day and are consistently giving out winnings in a short time-frame. You cannot really beat those bookies, but you sure can get a lot of money out of them and they'll still pay - at least in my experience those of some high rollers that I personally know.
2054  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Binance 11th LUNC burn: 2.65 billion tokens destroyed on: July 02, 2023, 11:53:15 PM
There doesn't seem to be any positive side to this burning that they're doing with LUNC. Price is back to normal again and is continuing to slide down. A lot of bag holders are just waiting for these burn events to offload some of their bags and move on to other ventures. LUNC is associated with a lot of bad things in the crypto space, and is continuously dying and the only thing keeping this coin alive is the burning mechanism plus some spin-off articles from bag holders wanting to get out of this mess.
2055  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: U.k Approves Cryptocurrency As A Regulated financial Activity. on: July 02, 2023, 11:23:50 PM
As far as other sources go, the only regulated financial activity that the UK is recognizing is crypto trading. It's very far from recognizing cryptocurrencies as legal tender as those two things mean very different entirely. Though at the least, it lays the groundwork to a lot more positive regulations regarding cryptocurrencies that will prove beneficial to the cryptocurrency users in the UK. It will still take a while before we get more countries into accepting cryptocurrencies as legal tender, but for now this is a welcome change.
2056  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: July 02, 2023, 11:10:28 PM
How about Desmond Bane getting over 200 million dollars out of the Grizzlies? Gotta be the worst signing so far.
5-year max. $200m. $40M per year. That's a lot of money. I know he did carry the Grizzlies while Ja Morant was not playing because of his gun stint but this is going to tighten up their salary cap. They will have players that will look for a better salary and they cannot even offer a good one anymore.

Their ex-teammate Dillon Brooks is getting a 4-year contract for $80m only at Houston Rockets. I bet that hurt his feelings when he heard how much they gave Desmond Bane after not resigning him.  Cheesy The Rockets also signed 2023 NBA champion veteran Jeff Green for a 1-year $6m contract.
It seems like the Rockets are trying to combine young players and veterans which I think is a good thing. Will keep my eyes on this team as I think they are piling up players who will focus defensively as their offense is already better. They are becoming a playoff caliber right now by surrounding Jabari Smith with different types of good roleplayers.

Brooks is probably salty that Desmond Bane is getting a lot more compared to him which has not been resigned. Dude's also working in Grizzlies but Bane really stepped up when the team needed him thanks to Ja Morant's antics.

As for the Rockets' picking up some value picks for cheap, it's good for them on the defense side though hopefully they don't lack the firepower necessary to make the game favor their odds. The Rockets are still a relatively weak team compared to the whole of NBA but hopefully their picks make them become a contender on the Western conference.
2057  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How big is your optimism for crypto investment? on: July 02, 2023, 10:49:35 PM
Depends on what crypto asset am I holding. If it's bitcoin or the big 3 crypto coins, I will be optimistic for a long time, but if it's some of the alts that are recently created due to "innovation" and similar things, I wouldn't put my hopes up that much. Usually, these coins I'm referring to are only good for a few months before you should sell them. Heck, some are even good only until the exchanges list them on their platforms. Crypto assets are good to hold only if the assets you're holding have an underlying value to it and not just its value raised by the current hype around it.
2058  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Minimum Age to gamble on: July 02, 2023, 09:53:20 PM
Online casinos can easily be accessed and I think that teenagers below this age do gamble online because it will not be difficult for them to register and start gambling. At 18,it shows that you are an adult and should be left alone to make decisions on your own and face any consequences of your actions if they are illegal or against the law.

On land base casino,I don't know if the casino will have their own age limit at 18yrs. This also depends on the casino,it an be differ from one country to another or from one state to another. Anybody below 18yrs that gambles and win big in a casino that say 18-21 years,he might find it difficult to cash out his wins

Teenagers will always find a way to game the system and trick the platform into thinking that they are legal age individuals that can gamble on these platforms. You'll never really know if they're already allowed to gamble or not because they can easily submit fake documents or documentation that is bought online and then they're through. There are also some casinos out there that do not impose KYC restrictions because they are working illegally, so minors can also use that casino to gamble with little to no repercussions at all if they're caught.

As for land-based casinos, it will be hard for the teenagers to pass security checks unless they really look like they're old enough to play plus they have fake documentation that looks authentic to back up their claim.
2059  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why Not Just Buy BTC? on: July 02, 2023, 09:28:06 PM
It's a good strategy but certainly not something that a lot of people will recommend given that it's not wise to put all your eggs in one basket. If you have other assets outside of bitcoin then perhaps this would be something that could work for you. If you're not betting your life savings into bitcoin then you can do this no problem, though be ready for the heartaches and disappointments when they come, especially when the price starts to dip so hard that the only thing left to do is forget about bitcoin for a while.
2060  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Better to have a trading knowledge than depending on signals. on: July 02, 2023, 08:21:32 PM
A lot of newbie traders are actually relying on signals alone and are not looking to make their minds work by doing their own analysis on top of what they already got from other traders. This is dangerous and also leaves the copy traders in a spot that might be the cause of them losing money in the long run. I myself am doing copy trades and get signals from other people, but I know a thing or two about trading that helps me to create informed decisions. It helps you understand why things are happening and what could be the possible movement from there just from the things that you know currently.
