Some PoW people even don't believe PoS is secure:   https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=615843.0

Is POI reviewed by any crypto expert and proven to be secure?

We're in a pre alpha state. Let's implement it first, get a whitepaper out and then talk about review and audits.
"External" audits of unfinished stuff make little to no sense.

Devs are running quite a few simulations though to find the right balance so it's not like they just whip something up and see what people say Smiley

PS: Who listens to POW people ?  Wink

Is there any information about how did the closed alpha go on weekend? If I remember correctly, if it went well, there would be an ETA for the open Alpha. Sorry if I remember wrong or have missed the information in the last few posts.

I'd say it went pretty well. It was a lot of fun to pump out the first NEM blocks allthough there were some issues discovered that are being worked on right now or are already fixed.
It was also only a test for NIS (being the server part of NEM) since NCC is not finished yet.

I will not spill any guesstimates anymore since it only feeds the trolls if they are not met.

I am one of the NEM stakeholders in the final list named "xiaoxiaojie"
Now the problem is that my account named"xiaoxiaojie" was banned by BTT.
I contacted the author(utopianfuture), but no response.
Please send messages to my old account or (mailbox is best), verify the authenticity of my.
I hope you can as soon as possible, I had been waiting long.

You'll need to prove that you own the address that xiaoxiaojie used to register.
Pls send a small tx or sign a message and post it here.
Plz also post a link to your original posting in the registration thread.

2085  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NEM] NEMstake tokens are listed on Nxt asset exchange on: May 25, 2014, 05:55:49 AM
Tokens are not yet sent, so there are no sellers right now. It all depends on the sellers. Keep the prices above 5 BTC at least ...

5 BTC per stake ?
Here's what I think will happen.

At some point the dumpers will learn about this. Now with James on the wait with 10k NXT per stake they will be very happy to sell.
Out of the 3k stakes there will easily be 40 dumpers.

Yeah - I'm not worried though. It's not like we put in a lot of effort to avoid people having too many stakes or anything. Ohh wait -.-

Who said 2 hours ? I said a couple of hours. That can range from 2 to about 4 or 5 (i guess everyone has their own limits for "a couple").

I'm pretty sure a 'couple' is well defined as 'two'. My friend and I have argued about this before (I obviously lead an exciting life).

https://www.google.co.uk/search?oq=define+couple&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=define+couple

first of all  - the line about your exciting life made me laugh hard  Grin
Secondly i guess this is where language barriers start to appear. In my country a couple is not well defined as 2. As a matter of fact it can mean 2 but it is then capitalized.

*removing those quotes for readability*

He brought up some admittedly bold ideas.

You were appearantly under the impression that all the devs quit their jobs, divorced their wives, put their kids up for adoption and stopped sleeping so they could work on NEM fulltime (yeah I'm exaggerating but that's what they'd have to do to have more than a couple of hours a day).

You tell me which one of those 2 sounds more delusional.

I was under the impression that members coded more than 2 hours a day but that was my mistake i just checked the NEM Development plan. I don't find that impossible with a full time job and i was under the impression that it was necessary to do so with your ETA claims. Its just hard for me to compute that a project with huge ambitions is matched with 2 hours a day of work per dev. I am also just getting frustrated with the alpha launch and i am just trying to point the finger at somebody.  Tongue

It's also not like all the devs come together then code for a couple of hours and then nothing happens for a day. Spread over multiple timezones there is probably always somebody working on NEM so if you see it that way the devs are working 24/7.

Imho it's nobodys businees if the devs work 1 minute or 10 hours a day as long as they deliver.

I am impressed with the management of stakeholding and egalitariasm so far.
Just a question....how can NEM deliver to the standard of NXT or greater if the Development team works
only part time? Nxt team has been working for months 24/7 developing the asset exchange and suchlike and
I believe with very talented individuals.
Is the NEM team better quality and more efficient?

quality != time until completion

Sorry but that's a weak answer Pat....
Our dev team works a couple of hours a day even on weekends.

I don't know what universe you live in but a couple hours a day is nothing. Especially something that is supposed to change the world. This is starting to seem more like a side project with a nice revenue model than a desire to truly change the world for the better.

I am disappoint.

and you are also delusional it seems.

Just get my token on the asset exchange and I'll be happy Smiley

oh btw you want to talk about delusional, your mate makoto wrote this: https://trello.com/c/6ERRDAZy/45-nem-cooperative-village

The best things in world (certainly in cryptoworld too) weren't made in one day.

I'am waiting happy. Even it'll be lauched next year. I paid 0,25 BTC on my stake and this is my best ivestment so far.

See you around!

im not sure how! its a forum full of the best coders in the world where the accounts can be worth money!... it shouldnt be so surprising that it can be hacked! i dont know how cos im not a coder! but iv seen allot of people talking about there accounts getting hacked.. a dev from nxt had his hacked not long ago but he got it back!

Since it seems that most of the "hacks" happened recently it could be connected to the heartbleed bug allthough there was a big warning on the top of the page.

Sorry but that's a weak answer Pat....

Why ?

Quality is not related to how much people work in a given amount of time only the time it takes to comple things is.

Say NXT really does work 24/7 and delivers 100% quality.
Now if NEM only works 20/7 the result can still be 100% quality it'll just take a little longer.

Therefore: quality != time until completion

I do want to say that I doubt that the NXT devs are working much harder than our dev team. Our dev team works a couple of hours a day even on weekends. The only way the NXT devs can work more is if they either have no commitments in their lifes or do not need to sleep for months.

Gustuv.

Pay out of nem coins, the real ones, will be automated. You will just have to send your tokens to a nxt address along with a nem account number in a message attached and your real coins will be sent to you. If you have .1 tokens you will get .1 of a nem stake in real coins. .1 is a tenth of a stake so 156k coins.

That's  incorrect. 1 Nemstake = 1 million NEM. 1/10 stake (100.000 NEM) is the smallest unit you can trade in asset exchange.

oh sorry. i thought it was 1.56.. was sure i read it somehwere.. anyway thats ok.. makes allot more sence now being 1 stake = 1 token thus being able to trade 100 coins at once. much simpler, thanks

why will we get ours 2 weeks after launch?Huh

I'm guessing we'll distribute the "regular" stakes first and that will take quite a bit of time.

But pay outs of nem tokens will be automated. Ao send total nem needed to where ever it needs to be to fund token withdrawls and let it run while distributing normal stake holders. It would actually be more efficient if everyone used the tokens. Whyleave token holders til the end if all ya gota do is send one bulk transaction to fund auto withdrawls?

If people know the token stakes are guna be sent automatically, and do that first. More people will do that just to get their stake before those with regular stakes. Thus less normal stakes to distribute so it woulbe faster for ose who really dont want to use nem.

@soadan. In that case i stand by my previous post a page or 2 back about 1 stake one asset. Its retarded. What if near the end or half way or after alpha stakes  are 5btc, thats a minimum buy in limit of .5 btc... TOTALLY DEFEATS THE PURPOSE!

I was just guessing and I haven't really looked into the AE much so maybe UP has a different reason.

hello. One question:
Can i wait for launch and claim my stake directly in nemcoin with less hassle (one-click-solution) later or do i have to claim the stake via those tokens? Is claiming tokens obligatory? Do i miss out on something if i don't claim tokens? (i want to hold nem for longterm, no need to trade them immediately for me)
Do i understand right that claiming those tokens has the sole prurpose to enable trading before launch or did i miss something?
Thanks for short answer.

Claiming tokens is optional. You won't miss anything if you don't claim tokens on the NXT AE.

I doubt that claiming your stake the "traditional" way will be a one-click-solution. How do you suppose that would work ?

thx
I thought there would be a nem-software to download later that would work similar like a bitcoin-wallet? No?

Of course there'll be a wallet but how does that claim your stake ? Anyone can use the wallet so you can't just include stakes in wallets.

People can come and tell us that in the refund thread. Once they proof it's them via a signed message we exchange the old account for the new one. E.g. James already did that and he is not the only one.

Yes, as long as they have original wallet and can sign or prove it. Otherwise they are screwed Wink

By the way, the first 20 pages were free giveaway. They don't even have a wallet to prove anything

2Kool belonged to that group

Yeah, well - we can't work around everything. It was clearly stated that btt accounts would be necessary to claim stakes.
It sucks for the people that are affected and were excited about NEM but there's really not much we can do.

Is it possible that one single person can buy all of the auctioned stakes?

I think there is a limit of 2 stakes per auction.

Seems like we are getting away from the most egalitarian distribution if ppl are allowed more than 1 stake pre-launch.

Hm is NEM most egalitarian before ? Do the developers take 3-4% each, don't they ? I am in this because of POI and colored coin. People who help the most should get the most so I don't mind the developers but avoid the term "egalitarian". Giving people according to contribution seems better than dividing everything equally.

> avoid the term "egalitarian".

Why?  Smiley

Also some ppl  say "NEM is too slow, I can't wait. Avoid the term "speed" !"

Why?  I ask again Cheesy

To both "speed" and "egalitarian" can be given some values to describe them.
egalitarian is different in the way that in very ideal cases there can be the ideal egalitarian (for example 1 to all). But in practice there are no ideal cases, something must be bent, then can be evaluated the egalitarian value for these,
a. 1 gets 20%, 4 get 20%  the rest get 60%
b. 1 gets 90%, the rest get 10%
c. 99.5% gets 0.09% each, 0.5% gets 2% each
d. and so on

There, calculate the egalitarian, don't whine that there is no egalitarian at all!

I explained my view on that in greater detail before but it pretty much boils down to:

egaliarian/fair != equal amounts for everyone

Update on the issue of Token Issuance. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=616467.0

I know someone who will be very happy to see this  Grin

I am happy because I don't want my stake tied to BTT ID. 2Kool4Skewl already lost his account as his account got banned. He is probably not the only one. Some accounts were hacked too (i.e James jj77).

I am not sure how many accounts will never come back and claim their stakes. That number can be as high as 25% (going by the fact that out of 100 Nxt stakeholders only 73 claimed the coins eventually).

People can come and tell us that in the refund thread. Once they proof it's them via a signed message we exchange the old account for the new one. E.g. James already did that and he is not the only one.
