2081  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: turn $40,000 into $4,000,000 with me (Record 0-0) | $40,000 on: June 30, 2023, 10:40:36 PM
I remember your posts. It would be best if you would stop at certain milestones (eg. $500,000, then start over again til $4,000,000) to not lose everything all at once. You definitely have the guts and the gambling knowledge to do this challenge quite easily, you just have to avoid going all in to potentially get higher wins. Anyway, I'll be following this thread closely knowing that you already made almost $500,000 from basically a few thousands and I might tail some bets, too.
2082  Economy / Gambling / Re: Loophole in stopping Money Laundering through Wagering on: June 30, 2023, 09:59:29 PM
Now, about money laundering: Obviously the casino has records of losses and wins and they would give these documents to any law enforcement or government agency anyway. So that person would still have to explain the source of the deposits of his funds.

I think it would be easier for the casinos to get their 1% of the money launderer's money, so they keep quiet because its more profitable for them.

Sometimes the casino platforms also have to play ball with the law enforcement, so as to make sure that they are not getting a lot of attention and be a hot target for surveillance and whatnot. I'm pretty sure casinos know who launders money and who doesn't, and they would certainly let the bigger fishes pass while the smaller ones, they catch and send the additional layer of KYC, getting them records, and letting the relevant authorities know before they let these fishes' funds go.

I saw mentioning about regions being tough, Indonesia is the toughest? Or where?

If you're looking for the toughest regions, you'll be looking at Southeast Asia (SEA), China, and West Europe. These are the hardest regions to thrive in as a pro team, especially WEU given how many pros are concentrated on that particular region and how good the organizations are. China, you are looking at organizations that are basically just giving points to each other depending on the tournament for them to get the best teams on TI. SEA, well, they aren't really the best region, but the skill level of the teams in this region are basically on par with each other that's why the qualifiers are always hard to decide which team will pop off and which ones will play poorly.
2084  Economy / Reputation / Re: Bitcointalk own Casino complaint panel on: June 30, 2023, 04:36:44 PM
The problem is, there is already a dedicated sub for that (sort of, the Scam Accusations board) although it still remains to be in the discretion of both parties whether or not they will be using the said space to voice out their concerns or whatever it is that they have differences with, especially on the side of the casino which can opt to resolve this privately however the forum members here will likely view that as something scammy or shady. Casinos won't really feel the need to respond to those accusations anyway especially if the amount is something trivial to them, and can be completed once the user of their platform becomes compliant to whatever they're asking.

I don't think it's also necessary to have a panel for this kind of thing. The boards are doing what they need to do just fine IMO, and it's up to both the parties on how they would resolve those cases using the board already present in this forum.
2085  Economy / Gambling / Re: Loophole in stopping Money Laundering through Wagering on: June 29, 2023, 11:59:16 PM
If that's the way you think then you don't know how cruel that odds are for gamblers that are looking to make some quick buck or to launder money. Even if you are successful on your first try to launder money through this means, the succeeding ones might not be the same. Also, the casino might flag your account for suspicious behavior if they see that a repeat activity of the same nature happens on your account, with the money going in, making one bet, then going out. This is outright daring but not smart, if I can describe it.
2086  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: June 29, 2023, 11:40:43 PM
Crazy first day in Dota 2 Bali Major right ? Teams who were expect to perform they are not performing and vice-versa. I think the worst team right now in this major might by EG but they are already qualified for TI so I suppose testing some strategies here and there will do them good in long term but for bettors...oh , they lost a lot today as I saw Twitch chat going nuts on EG.

Then , I said a week ago that Liquid was sand bagging so hard in DreamLeague season 20 and literally they had no desire to play dota but in this Major , Liquid slowly but surely are doing TI drafts already with some crazy strategies based on universal heroes so eyes on their drafts because they can offer a lot of intel for TI drafts. Cool

I don't think either of those teams are trying out TI strategies. There might be a minor patch after the Lima Major so probably that would disrupt things as they are right now. Maybe they know that it's just the first day and they want to measure some strategies that they have for the Major on the first teams that they will be matched with. Usually in these teams, they suddenly play well when the groups are already arranged, so assuming that this is what they're doing, it's safe to say that it's not that bad to bet on draws for all the matches for Day 1 and you'll still come out even or with some profit.
2087  Economy / Economics / Re: Ignore this Classic Business Law or Follow Your Instincts? on: June 29, 2023, 10:47:11 PM
I always listen to reason, and if the reason is sound, there is no way that I wouldn't think about it thoroughly. What the speaker did is just correct, and since he did not understand the business model of the one who gave the pitch, he passed on the offer and went on his merry way. At best, he just lost an opportunity, but not money in general because we wouldn't know either way if the business will succeed or not at the moment of the pitch. I guess the regret is there, but disciplined people always tend to succeed in life in a lot of aspects, and since he's practicing that discipline, I'm pretty sure that that speaker found another opportunity that he knew well.
2088  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your rate in betting base on odds alone? on: June 29, 2023, 09:19:03 PM
I see many of you want to discourage OP from gambling, but this is a gambling forum! Most of us here gamble or have gambled and most of us advertise a casino, so saying that he shouldn't gamble when he wants to make money is contradictory.

I say gamble, just set yourself goals that are reachable. If you really want to make some bitcoin in a safe way, work for it, sell some stuff for bitcoin and so on, but if you want to try to gamble, go for it. Best way for me would be to bet fiat money and if you sin, pocket the bitcoin profit and move it to your offline wallet.

People here are not discouraging OP from gambling, rather we're trying to discourage him from looking at gambling as a means to make money. Those are two completely different things. We, as gamblers, know that what we do isn't the best way to make money. If you want to earn something, get some work or get some gigs that give you money. Gambling does not 100% provide you that. It takes luck and skill to do that, whereas in getting a job and receiving a pay check, you do as what the job description says and you'll be paid, no matter how mediocre your work is at the end of the day.
2089  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: North Carolina is pushing forward a bill to study holding Bitcoin on: June 29, 2023, 08:10:55 PM
This is like investment 101 bill. At least, the NC legislators are trying to help their people get educated in money matters. Not a lot of government entities want their people to get educated in investments and all that stuff, because if they do, they'd surely put some initiatives that tackle about investments and how to be financially literate in schools. I say that this bill is actually quite helpful if anything, especially if it's taught in schools as the kids are growing up.
2090  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A hilarious video that shows so many persons ignorance about bitcoin on: June 28, 2023, 11:54:58 PM
You can't blame other groups of people, especially those that are affected by poverty, to know of bitcoin since they have other things to put their focus on and sights on. They have to think of how to survive each day and combat hunger, so bitcoin probably is the least of their worries or their concerns. I don't find it funny that these people are clueless that bitcoin exists or how it works, as I know that there are also some things that they know that I probably don't have any idea about.
2091  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Top Five Reasons Sports Bettors Are Attracted to eSports on: June 28, 2023, 11:20:20 PM
I guess you can also attribute that it's easier to learn video games and esports compared to traditional sports. It's way easier to be in the game and know the game when you also play the game, hence why more and more people are slowly transitioning towards eSports betting. There are also multiple tournaments being held for different games at a given time in short intervals, too, so it's way easier to look for something to bet on eSports compared to traditional sports.
I don't think that eSports betting is easier than betting on traditional sports knowing that when league matches happen, there are players from all around the world involved in those matches, and for you to know which team plays better, you must have already been watching their games from the past to have some idea, otherwise, you will only waste your money betting on a random team that might not be too good to be the winner.

Generally, both traditional sports and eSports would require you to have some knowledge and experience both about the game and the teams playing because that is the only way you can determine which team will win based on their gaming style and skills, so I don't think it's in any way easier.

That's why I said it's way easier to get in to eSports betting. You can actually play the game and get immersed and versed at it quite easily because you will have a first-hand knowledge of how teams play their strats and why you think these strategies work. You can play the game, know a thing or two about the teams that are playing, and get better analysis on the upcoming matches just because you know how either of the teams' play style work because you played or encountered it in-game.
2092  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ads for online gambling should be banned. on: June 28, 2023, 11:10:41 PM
If this is what they're going after, perhaps they should also ban liquor and tobacco advertisements as well. Both of those are also addictive and can cause a lot of problems to the end-user but we're not batting an eye. Health complications on the packet of cigarettes shouldn't be enough; it should be a complete ban. Then again, if the industry does not have any backers on the government, it would be impossible to save it from these calls for strict rules and regulations.

They have been calling for this kind of ban for years now on different countries, but it's not really successful because other industries will also come along with it. They can tread ever so closely on getting this finalized but they know that their precious gold mines (or industries that they get their money from) will also be affected.
2093  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Let's find out which gambling game is the most played among our community... on: June 28, 2023, 10:39:26 PM
I always wanted to learn and try poker or any card games in general. It's just that my tiny brain can't really learn all the rules and all the conditions that makes a hand good or bad. Or what are the losing conditions that I need to know to fold or to just stop playing. It'll probably be a money sink for me in a way that is not enjoyable to me. Dice is a money sink as well but at least, I am having fun tinkering the probability and seeing how far can I go on my win streaks at the highest win probability possible.
2094  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: June 28, 2023, 09:44:06 PM
Anyone feels bad for the Alliance(Dota 2) that they're even out of Division 2 and they'll have to go with the qualifiers again for the said division? After nikobaby's retirement, this team becomes one of the weakest in its region and even taking two sea players but still didn't manage to get at least a slot in Division 1. One reason that I can say is that the region that they are in is certainly one of the hardest and most difficult regions in the entire world. Hoping they'll bounce back soon.

It's a cut throat competition in Europe, always has been especially when the road to TI is closing in. They would really have to grind it out in the open qualifiers against teams that are relatively unknown but are also strong. There are a lot of those teams in Europe too, especially pros and pubstars that weren't signed by a team prior to TI. A lot of grinding and a lot of practice would be needed by this current iteration of Alliance if they want to join TI for this year, that's for sure.
2095  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino on a cruise ship? on: June 28, 2023, 08:54:44 PM
I watched a few videos about it, and regarding these specifics, I'd say that it's actually pretty similar to land-based casinos on a lot of things. The games are the same, the payouts are the same, although the number of machines and live tables will surely be lesser to take into account the operating cost of the said casino in the cruise ship. It will be a really unique experience though, but certainly not one that I'm looking to experience in the near future since land-based casinos are already providing the experience in gambling that I'm looking for.
2096  Economy / Economics / Re: Why is bitcoin pumping when the economy is heading into a recession? on: June 28, 2023, 08:27:11 PM
It's barely pumping atm. It's been on this movement for a few weeks now and you can't say that it's performing really well since it just managed to stay on this level despite some selling pressure. It's more of a sideways market, not something that will really penetrate the ceiling and get the price to higher highs. It will take a lot more pressure on the buyer side of things for a bull run to happen. Right now, it's as dormant as it gets.
2097  Economy / Economics / Re: Has everyone become too pesimistic about the economy? on: June 27, 2023, 11:59:41 PM
I haven't become pessimistic, but I recognize the signs when I see them. There's just a lot of negative stuff going on that the only plausible effect is recession or a crash. Prices of goods aren't getting better, and a lot of people are slowly becoming jobless. Well, if there are more jobs, then the pay isn't really getting higher, causing more and more people to cut corners and just get their overall life quality a lot worse.
2098  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you dare to pawn your bitcoin? on: June 27, 2023, 11:22:53 PM
If the rules on pawning bitcoin and other digital assets have been clearly established, why not? As DaveF pointed, this is no different than getting a loan and using your bitcoin as collateral. If the value of your bitcoin at the time of the loan is locked to what it is for the duration of the loan period, I think that's a good deal. If it's not, and the terms are favored towards the lender, I wouldn't do it and just get a regular loan instead.
2099  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: (Crypto Games) A revolution in the gaming industry or a passing trend? on: June 27, 2023, 11:13:56 PM
This misses a lot of context. If you're referring to crypto games that involve NFTs or other such things, then I'd say nothing has changed for the better. There are some cool concepts here and there but nothing that is really useful for the whole industry in the long run. Some will gain attention and traction for a short while before being trampled by what's already established in the system. The system is okay as it is, and no new flashy and fancy crypto-related feature or thing has proved itself yet to be a mainstay in the industry.
2100  Economy / Economics / Re: After Making Money In Bitcoin, How is Black Tax Affecting You Economically? on: June 27, 2023, 10:18:36 PM
This is painfully accurate and hits very close to home. I no longer live with my family, and have been helping them for over a decade yet I feel like I am still obligated to provide financial aid regularly. They learned of my dealings in crypto, and even though I am getting quite a good amount in what I do, a large portion still goes to my family to support them. It's not something that bothers me, as I am in a position to help, though it would be best if they start making moves to provide what they need for themselves, too.

Though if it were my own, a family i helped create, I would gladly spend every last dime I earn no matter where the source is.
