Ken likes to delete posts. These deletions include posts that I feel are entirely relevant and make reasonable assumptions and place fair criticism on the actions of Ken and ACTM/VMC.

@Ken: if you feel this post does not belong in your moderated thread, please state why. Quote whatever portions of it ARE fair, and answer to the criticisms as best as you can. If nothing else, and my post must be removed entirely, at least answer to this:

WHERE ARE THE FINANCIAL REPORTS THAT YOU SELF_IMPOSED AN APRIL 1ST DEADLINE FOR?

simple point: actm has made well over 100BTC mining, starting with 737GH of avalon equipment (avalon units and K16 units) in late 2013. They have probably mined far more. WIth the current turmoil there are no shares to give dividends to, and financial reports were due 22 days ago

lets go through.

shares:  still not available. ken promised these would be in operation long ago, and if you asked even the supporters about it 2-3 months ago they would likely have never dreamed it would take this long. The phrases "next week", "later this week", and "by next month" are common

refunds:  apparently these are mailing out as cheques, rather than bitcoin payments as requested by users (or at least loudly and frequently by magzy).

hashrate:  ken had 737GH of gear running since late 2013. this hashrate has likely made him DOZENS (hundreds?) of bitcoins at no cost to himself and with zero return to investors. even now it is on btcguild seperate from the eligius farm (it should share on the eligius page or have its own eligius address).  He promised 100TH deployed in april and 100TH in May. Its not even 57TH yet and he is adding only about 3-4TH a day on average.

dividends:  None yet. he lost shareholder bitcoins by holding them in mtgox (either terrible money management or a convenient excuse), and there is no sharing at all from the aforementioned 737GH he has been running for about 6 months now, or the more recent 30BTC from hashfast boards. Neither are there any dividends from selling ~$100,000 worth of the hashfast boards on the VMC website.  (again - people should not have stored large sums money on a hot wallet like a virtual exchange meant for playing cards)

yes he is still here, yes he is 'adding' hashrate - but there is no return of the profits to investors and his financial reports are 22 days past due

they now sell 5MH blades - thoughts?

I want to get one but there is not much review of them on the forums recently
2083  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner (1w/GH/s) on: April 22, 2014, 11:23:10 PM
I know it was talked about earlier in the thread - but I have not been frequesnt the last few days and am planning to visit my S2 for the first time tomorrow morning.

1) Should I reflash the firmware of the unit AND/OR copy a new version of the SD card?  (I saw an SD image posted a few days ago)

2) I am changing to a 2kW server PSU and want to see what sort of overclocking is available.  How can I change the clocks? I saw several posts indicating that the unit clears the settings at a reboot, so when changing the clocks you have to start/stop the cgminer only.  Can someone post the code for that (using putty SSH and I have experience with S1)

3) overclocking, the hex codes are the same as were listed in the U1 documentation?  https://coinreport.net/overclock-antminer-u1-guide/  is correct?  (the initial clocks are 160-170MHz right? I would be aiming to 212-225MHz to start.

4) overclocking, do the stock fans get fast enough to handle it, or will I need to pull the top off and add a pair of 230mm fans to increase flow? I could run the PSU outside the case to lessen the heat created

Would publishing AMC's bitcoin address add transparency since we can see proof of purchase of Avalon chips, etc.

I think it would:  Here is the address we are holding bitcoins at to purchase the chips:  16yTynjmSe5bsRGykDaaCL5bm2pxiEfcqP
We would like to purchase a full batch as group purchases have a commission of about 9.5%
----

looking forwards to financial reports, since the movement of ACTM funds is astounding, as well-blurred as anything mtgox ever did. here are some addresses to start the hunt at:

https://blockchain.info/address/1DJpsvnM7xTnQbWEhLYyCyfxQyxwupEzCa?filter=1     (all the sent funds from the current eligius mining address)
https://blockchain.info/address/16yTynjmSe5bsRGykDaaCL5bm2pxiEfcqP  (where most of these funds went, a known account of ken's that was to purchase chips from)
https://blockchain.info/address/1HtoMBUKzRgS5X9WdnwZiQKQccvWBCPGx
https://blockchain.info/address/1LJDfEYvBG18LNXUG6xeSCrs3B4sdBKb1D    (200BTC came here and then was split into 4 50BTC addresses)
https://blockchain.info/address/1MLqgV2E3GRDTXYxpDzGqTnnekuuC8i8GV (1 of said addresses - split into 4 more new addresses)
https://blockchain.info/address/1M9fztr3SKAw6iZjFeiR6V99qtmed6Ro8V  (follow the chain, one address ends here and still holds funds that were put in 3 days ago)
https://blockchain.info/address/1HpDXKMfNd5Z6rUVvk5oEdN2nRbF47D6WY (another address with 98BTC, most of which is split evenly into 4 new addresses TODAY)

who knows which of these are under the control of ACTM or hashfast?  It seems very strange that ken has no financials after the APril 1st deadline, and the funds are dispersed over a HUGE expanse of small addresses, rather than a few large publicly-known addresses for auditing purposes.

^and before anyone says a big single address is a bad idea - it isnt. Bitmain has something like 20,000 bitcoins held in a single address safely. everyone can see bitmain's holdings in a simple transparent way.
2085  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Server PSU for Antminer S1, step by step guide. on: April 22, 2014, 05:01:34 PM
I will take pics of my solder so you guys can have a chuckle later. Here are 2 Ants in a Roswell case. Plus the server power supply I bought for $11.50 each on ebay.

I have 5 of these cases with 10 Ants total. I also used the copper L-shaped connector from Home Depot. Each wire is 14 awg.

do you see the molex connectors for the case fans? Can I hook that up to the PSU too? Or do I need a lower power level to connect them?

I don't want to be the clever guy but aren't those cables from the psu to the ants a little bit thin?

When I install my server psu-s I use 12 x 1 mm2 cables for + 12 v and the same for ground. I know the half is enough just to be sure....

But as I see you made it only about 1 x 1 mm2 (maybe 1.5 mm2) for + 12 v and the same for the ground and split to 3 lines. If I were you I would check the cable temps and do some calculations what cable diameter is needed for 200W at 12V, it's about 17 amp.

If you split to 3 lines you should use 3 times thicker as you use after the split.

Repeat, I don't want to be the clever guy, just wanted to help....

If somebody is interested I can drop a picture how my server psu look like.

No problem. Thanks for the info. The wires are 14 gauge AWG each. I will check today what the temps are running at the wires.

constructive power wiring criticism:

1) 14AWG is sufficient for running 1 wire pair to each blade. Many of my own units are wired like that. (with 16AWG i suggest at least 2 wire pairs)

2) there is no need for the 1->3 splitters on your power wiring. It achieves no benfit against simply running the single line to a single screw terminal, and if anything adds more wire length and other craziness that would increase the overall resistance. if the wire fails it will be along the single line, not down any of the 3 branched lines.

all 3 screw terminal holes are linked together so there is no reason why you cant/shouldnt just run the ssingle 14AWG wire to the center screw and forgo the short branched wires

as for the molex fans, my advice:   grab a matching molex branch (1 male to 3 female) and snip the male end. wire it into one of the antminer's screw terminals to feed it. (keep in mind this will add a 10-30w load to whichever antminer blade you do it from, so keep a close eye on the 14AWG wires to that blade that they dont heat up from having to deliver a little bit more current)
2086  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [VMC] Official Virtual Mining Corporation Discussion on: April 20, 2014, 10:22:41 PM
Ken how many refunds have you completed this week?
When do you expect to finish the refunds.  I have been asking for it for 4 months and would like my money back this week please? Any comment welcome

sounds like no refunds yet - considering that you have been quite vocal and ken's only response has been some thing bout you asking for a refund too quickly after ordering as some way of justifying that the money was held for months.

is actm/vmc still sitting on 152 packaged boards (70TH+) without adding them to the current 50TH mine?
2087  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner (1w/GH/s) on: April 20, 2014, 10:15:14 PM
My recommendation.. DON'T power off your miner once it's running.
Damn thing gives you headaches to get it working again once powered off.
This is mainly because all transistors need to be clear of any power that's left through the system.
Even my platimax PSU had issues it needed clearing of the remaining power left in the capacitors  to get it working again.
It's really a shame they designed the power in such way and not connect the power to the board directly so the board would regulate the power and capacitors.
It cost me another hour to get things working again only to find the miner turn off again, so swapping modules around again to get things working.
With this I need to wait and wait for all power to drain from the power from the machine and try again  Cry
This happened when I tried to tune the miner with frequency setting 250, so my guess is tuning this system will only take more of your mining time then you want.

that would not be a good idea - PSU manufacturers have decades of experience in designing high-efficiency components. if bitmain atempted its own 120/12V regulators it would almost certianly result in efficiency well under 80% (try 60-70%)

still selling these coins, shipped from/within Canada using xpresspost!
2089  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: PCI-E cables with 16AWG wires and tinned ends - great for server PSU mods on: April 17, 2014, 04:26:37 PM
Got mine!  Thanks Klondike!!!

Works great... still have to use braided extensions to reach my S1's, but I used these to replace my thinner Monoprice PCI-E cables to HP Server Power Supplies.

if i do another batch of these I will get them in 2ft lengths to make extensions less necessary  (4ft may also be possible but likely require a pre-order or 'on request')

lots of these available still to ship when i gt home from holiday Monday!  (about 65 left)

you owe lowerjerzey

OWE WHAT?Huh
This idiot wrote "bye" just a few hours before the payout!!!!
You think you're an hero, you just destroyed people money!

you think this became a scam BECAUSE lowerjersey decided to quote the OP's massive bolded rant about one more straw before he ditches?

If the OP used his real info and was actually TRYING to be legitimate, why has he not returned to apologize (or give a second chance) or refund the scammed money? Why has noone figured out his real info (who uses bitcoin but has no facebook account?)?

Simple fact: it was a scam from the start. He was going to sell as many shares as he could and pay out dividends as long as it took to reach a maximum number of invested BTC to cover the costs of his private farm, then ditch.   He was called out repeatedly as a scammer using unfeasible promises to the point that no one else wanted to invest (ie: he hit the maximum number of investments) and disappeared as was predicted.
2091  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcement: Bitmain launches AntMiner solution, 0.68 J/GH on chip on: April 17, 2014, 04:05:35 PM
New sales price 0.885 BTC for one S1

What about an S2 Batch 3?  Or coupons for my recent S2 or S1 orders - which would be nice considering the S2 shipped on April 12th Smiley
2092  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 Sales open] Price changes daily, now 0.893 BTC for 180GH/s on: April 16, 2014, 04:22:12 AM
2 of 3 hashing.....3rd one looked like it had an accident and guts exploded. Its back together but one slot on the mainboard appears to be dead as I have already swapped out the blades to no avail.

It is surgery time, take this puppy apart and have a looksy at the mainboard.

take photos - Im curious if the mainboard/backplane actually holds much or if it is simply just a PCB with sockets placed in series
2093  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner (1w/GH/s) on: April 16, 2014, 04:19:59 AM
Just finished surgery on  batch 2 S2's after receiving them today. All is well and they are all hashing at around 1 TH/s. As others have mentioned before, you will need to open the unit to reseat some of the cards.

Are these upgradable considering the relatively  modular design ? The PSU can be upgraded and the "wafers" can be removed.  Your thoughts ?

LOL what? you know what wafer means in semiconductor?

I hope you meant "modules"

LOL what? you know what 'are these upgradable considering the relatively modular design' means?

I guess you meant "sorry bud, im clueless but i can mug you off for no apparent reason"

Hey dumbass, why even open your mouth and confirm you're retarded?

Those module boards should never be called wafers.

Now go crawl back to whatever filthy hole you came from.

for all your smartassery, you chose to get stuck on the word wafer rather than the entire remainder of a simple and clear question. You knew what he meant - wafer was just a mistake choice of words, to which you had no actual answer

S2 arrived today and was setup. Using teamviewer remotely (I am away this week and someone else plugged it in for me) I was unable to login to the webUI using root/root OR root/admin.

however, using SSH and root/root I was able to modify the settings
Code:
vi /config/cgminer.conf
with my pool info, and seem to be hashing away great now.

still cant login to the web UI, is root/admin not correct for batch 2 units?

As stated in the PDF, root/root is the login for the webGUI.  It worked for me.

didn't/doesn't seem to work.  i get a popup box to login at the ip but after 3 attempts am sent to a 401 page

Shipping BEFORE 10th was a lie and we all know it.
Or maybe it was an estimation?

Maybe language issues confused the issue and Bitmain really meant shipping was to start BY the 10th?

Maybe the batch was too large to get all orders out on the 10th?

Maybe he just doesn't like you?

I for one would not call it a lie, and neither would I have taken it as a promise or a guarantee.

Must suck to be you.

everyone in B2 shipped later than promised. "before april 10" means that shipping on april 12 is 2 (if not 3) days late

um what? I dont understand if you have 100K or not, but it sounds like you have no idea how to invest it in bitcoin.

Yes I am ready if you can answer MY ORIGINAL POST [ seems like ages ago]

WHAT TO BUY AND WHY?
I ask a serious question detailed my predicament and I get laughed off here and declared a troll.

My questions(s) in my original query still stand remain unanswered.

You are ready to spend $100k on something you know nothing about?

Seems like a great idea!
WHAT A SHIT WEBSITE.

NO WONDER BITCOIN IS TANKING.

ACTULLY PAR FOR THE COURSE THIS TREE HUGGING HORSEHIT PINK CROWD OF GLAD HAPPY FREAKS HAVE ALWAYS INTENTIONALU DELAYED TRANSACTIONS TO ARIBITRAGE UNDER THE CLAIM IT IS SO SECURE IT REQUIRES A ZILLIONS CONFIRMATIONS TO ENURE IT IS COOKED. FILTHY DISENGENOUS USAGE AND TANTAMOUNT TO THE BIGGEST SCAM BEING PERPURATED TO DATE.

you have zero posting history and apparently want to spend $100,000 on equipment you clearly know almost nothing about. Is it surprising that the general response was "go away and do your research"?   This site used to make you post in a 'newbie' subsection until you had a few weeks and 50 posts on the site - it helped make sure people posted valid questions and not general 'what should i buy" questions in the actual forum threads

You swung from wanting to invest 100K to screaming on the internet that bitcoin is a scam. Thank you, come again
2099  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: PCI-E cables with 16AWG wires and tinned ends - great for server PSU mods on: April 12, 2014, 02:31:36 PM
Any chance of you getting 8 pin cables?

I dont see much point in an 8pin cable - no ASIC hardware uses them, and most GPUs use only 6pin anyhow. The extra 2 pins are both black GND wires and AFAIK the GPUs with 8pin sockets will run fine with only a 6pin cable
2100  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: PCI-E cables with 16AWG wires and tinned ends - great for server PSU mods on: April 12, 2014, 02:30:21 PM
LOL "the garbage 18AWG connectors found on ebay"  You better not be referring to my pristine cables fool.

not sure which those are. I just know ive had an '8pin ATX to 6pin PCIe' cable burst into flames within 5 minutes of turning on the power supply, and only 200W of load through the connector (which actually had 8 18awg wires). I also cut open a molex->pcie wire that was labelled as 18awg and the inside wire is much thinner than a sewing needle.

These 16AWG wires are good quality, and are fully capable of carrying a high current without heating up or failing
