2101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does anyone actually believe in Ripple or just in it for profit? on: January 05, 2018, 08:25:11 AM
People are attracted by coins moving fast. Many of them buy some, hoping that it will continue to gain and give profits.
It doesn't happen this all the times. In contrary. I've noticed ripple when it's value was 0.14 and I wanted to buy it too.
Then I've learned that I had to buy the wallet, and I found it very strange.
Later I've been informed that it is centralized and made for banks. I didn't buy and I don't regret.
My opinion is that this coin is pumped.

2103  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: new coin but no wallet, what do you do? on: January 04, 2018, 09:19:54 AM
I would never buy a coin not supported by a wallet.
I am also new to cryptocurrency and I thought that when a new alt was issued the developers of the coin always suggest wich wallet to be used, usually for Linux and Windows systems.
I suggest you buy something else, probably it has a very attracted name and price but there are many other coins and tokens to chose from.
Remeber if you own the private keys, you own the coin too.
2104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can I hold my altcoin for years in my wallet? on: January 04, 2018, 08:21:38 AM
Your money will be there as long as the developers support the coin. If it is a scam and you buy you'll lose your money.
It has happened before and it will happen in the future again. Make a research before you buy, just holding a coin doesn't mean a good invest. Keep your personal key and password in a safe place, preferably offline.
If you don't own the keys you have nothing. Good luck with your investment.
2105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: what to do if bitcoin decreases? on: January 04, 2018, 08:07:25 AM
I reply because I've noticed that this thread is almost 2 months old.
That time Bitcoin's price was below 8000 and today is the double. Some week ago it was 3 times as much.
We see that people came and bought more BTC because of the low price. BTC didn't crash.
We may see low prices in the future, nothing is for sure but it is at the time the dominant crypto and it worths having a small amount of it.
2106  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Invest now or wait? on: January 04, 2018, 07:51:50 AM
It is almost impossible to predict the price of the cryptocurrencies.
If you read the news in crypto-magazines and in twitter you'll probably develop in time a feeling that the price is going to move up or down.
If you want to be a holder any time to invest is suitable, because all of us in this crypto-world have the faith that the prices in the future will be much higher.
Just invest no more money than you can afford to lose.
2107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who uses myetherwallet? on: January 03, 2018, 08:59:46 AM
MyEtherWallet seems to be a safe and good open source wallet and I use it too.
I have to say that I am a holder and I don't have to send money very often.
So I use it off-line and I use cold storage to keep the keys, and this is the safest method to use it.
If I had to do a lot of transactions and I had to deal with a lot of money, I would probably buy a hardware wallet.
2108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who are the most successful investors on: January 03, 2018, 08:42:42 AM
I believe every one of us who bought coins 6 or more months before is a succefful investor.
If you're a holder then you have multiplied your initial investment.
If you are searching for people who made millions buying cryptos, you are not going to find them in this forum.
In contrary in this forum are people who work hard to propagate the uses of cryptocurrency to the world and yes they are changing the world. Even if the today cryptos fail (I doupt) the use of money will never be the same.
2109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Did Ethereum reach it's peak? on: January 03, 2018, 07:58:00 AM
Ethereum is a powerful coin and it worths having it. If you are a day trader it is probably not suited for you.
There are many other coins that are going to give you more profit than this one.
Ethereum has a programming language and a blockchain. It is able to make smart contracts, and this thing gives it a great potential.
It will continue to grow the coming months, it is definitely a must for holders.
2110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do I get in on these 50-300% tiny coin daily increases? on: January 03, 2018, 07:45:08 AM
I would suggest you avoid all these rumors about coins that supposedly are going up 30% 50% or even more.
Unfortunately, the majority of them are just garbage.
Everyone is able to make his own coin and even his own bitcoin fork.
If you google, you're going to find a lot of dedicated web pages.
To find a good a decent coin is even difficult.
You have to make your own research in order to be sure that this specific coin worths your money.
2111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why would anyone do such a scam? on: January 02, 2018, 08:16:24 PM
People can be easy manipulated by others. If you are investing your savings in a totally new field, of course, you are very suspicious.
I don't know if it is true that people blackmail others for making money using this way, but surely there are many determined to do so.
The solution is obvious, if someone wants to invest he has to make his own research or take some advice from a specialist.
We never follow the opinion of people we don't know and don't trust.
2112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What will happen when BTC reach its max supply? on: January 02, 2018, 07:21:17 AM
The truth is that neither ripple nor bitcoin has a use as a coin in our daily life.
There are (if any) few shops where you can buy using ripple and much more where you can use bitcoin.
But there is a problem. Bitcoin has high fees and few people use segwit addresses. You can't buy even a cup of coffee.
So (today) bitcoin is an asset, not a coin.
If bitcoin ever reaches it's maxed supply, it should worth a lot of money.
Imagine, the last Bitcoin will be mining for 6 years... 300000+ blocks to mine just 1 bitcoin.
2113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: With how much should i start on: January 02, 2018, 06:34:43 AM
You don't need much money to start trading. You can start trading, sending $50 in the exchange you like and buy your first coin.
In my opinion, you have to consider the commissions you are going pay on the exchange.
It will be the largest cost you are going to take as a trader.
So make a research in the exchanges and chose one with the good reputation and low fees. If you want to be a holder you'll probably want to send your coins in your wallet and not keep them in the exchange.
Then you'll have to pay extra fees for the transaction.
2114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why are people buying Ripple? on: January 02, 2018, 05:58:28 AM
People are attracted to coins having quick growth.
They believe that this "price rocketing" can be continued in the future. None knows exactly what is going to happen.
Ripple is a centralized coin and it is created by bankers. You can't mine it, all the initial coins belong to the creator of the coin.
So if the owner/creator is pumping up the price and wants to get the money and leave you are doomed.
There are many other decentralized coins that worth having them.
2115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I have 12 Bitcoin. What should I do??? on: January 02, 2018, 05:45:41 AM
If you really have 12 bitcoins then I would consider first my financial situation.
If you have a regular job, you can pay your mortgage and your houses expenses then you are a very very lucky person.
Do nothing, keep your coins.
Today they worth $158k and if one Bitcoin in the future worths 90K you'll have 1 million.
If you need money (fiat) for your daily life for all the above mentioned, then I would suggest you start spending right now.
Life is short my friend.
2116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think that will appear new altcoins can challenge Bitcoin ? on: January 01, 2018, 08:49:46 PM
The most valuable invention was the blockchain and not the bitcoin.
Bitcoin was the pioneer in the world of cryptocurrency and show the way to the rest of the coins.
I am sure that in the future, we are going to see many alternative coins using different algorithms and offering more anonymity than this one. Bitcoin is already challenged today due to high fees which makes impossible to buy just a cup of coffee.
The rest alts have much lower fees than Bitcoin which makes more convenient to use them.
2117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why is the price of bitcoin so high on: January 01, 2018, 08:37:54 PM
It is actually the supply and demand law. It is also the most known cryptocurrency today.
In the last 7-8 years, the price from $0.15 has risen to $19,000 and many believe that soon it can worth $100,000.
I don't know if that is possible in the future, but if it could be, just imagine let's say 100 million people trying to buy one bitcoin...
It will be only 21 million of them and the 75% is already mined. It could worth much more than 100 grand
2118  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to browse the internet and run suspect software safely? on: December 29, 2017, 10:28:27 PM
It's better to use cold storage for the majority of your coins, and a hot wallet for transactions.
Split your coins in several addresses.

I mean if Sandboxie does the same job as VirtualBox and VMware, than I'd rather jsut use Sandboxie as it's so simple and fast.

Sanboxie might be simplier and faster to set up.. but security-wise it is pretty weak.
A huge amount of exploits have been found in 2013. Since then a lot of improvements have been done.
But i wouldn't rely on the 'features' of sandboxie. VM's would definetly be safer.
You can read more about the vulnerabilities/attacks on sandboxie here: https://bromiumlabs.files.wordpress.com/2013/07/application_sandboxes_a_pen_tester_s_perspective2.pdf

But you should always keep in mind that a PC connected to the internet is never a safe way to store your coins.
You should only store an amount on your hot wallet PC which you can afford to lose.

Your transaction is already confirmed.
Next time check this site for fees:

I am a holder, so I dont have many transactions to do.
I think the best option is to use a dedicated PC (or a Raspberry Pi, if you have one) for your transactions.
Virtualbox is an option but I dont know how safe it is.
You could also buy a Ledger/Trezor for sending money and use your PC with a virtuabox for more security.
