Pretty sure the doctor will refuse to sign the birth certificate. ie, you probably can't name your baby, "whore"

Really? Is there some law dictating what baby names are acceptable? Smiley

Yeah, in some countries you can't name your kids certain things, and in others, the doctors just wont sign the birth certificate if you want to name you kid tinfoil or hitler or something like that. Portugal has really interesting name bans, like Tom.

In reality, there isn't nearly as much "power" here as other forums. Bitcointalk is pretty big on freedom of speech, and not interfering with people unless completely necessary.

Mmm today I learned that if you take a microwave, disable all of the safety features, make a crucible and stucco it in graphite, while you can melt metal in it, it spews radiation everywhere.

Why not buy BTC with that 4k, then buy a Bitmain Antminer S1?  They hash at 180-200 gh/s and cost I think about 3 BTC new/shipped now.

Or buy a bitmain antminer S1 from me with cash deposit or btc escrow.  For about the same price.

Or myself for that matter. I think I'm within 3 hours of NYC as well.

Never mind, I'm more like 4 hours out.
2108  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Casascius coins, unredeemed fully funded on: January 08, 2014, 12:07:50 AM
So why are these coins so highly valued?

They were the first Physical Bitcoins ever made. Casascius Bitcoin value is pegged to BTC not USD, so when they were first sold for around 2 BTC, there was about a $5 Premium, as that was around what the BTC rate was at. They have become more rare as people redeemed them, and they were spread out amongst the growing community's population, and they are still pegged to that BTC value, which as since increased. A few of them have sold for as high as 5 BTC, but 3-3.5 is within reason for them. Casascius has since been shut down for AML reasons, and people are speculating the value of Casasicus coins if he is shut down permanently or not. The 2011 Error coins were a limited batch, sold by the first and most popular physical Bitcoin manufacturer, so they could either be worth a whole lot in the future, or about the same as they are selling for now.

If this isn't a scam, I'd be shocked. What about this thread? Why not update that, rather than creating a new inconsistent post

 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=397876.0
Read above ? I requested lock for it because most of the units was sold and there was to much spam.
Keep in topic and read before post like i requested.
Use the word "scam" only if u have reason for that.

Not willing to escrow.

So you expect someone to send you thousands of dollars, yet you have no reputation, and will not use escrow. Not to mention, you are now selling hardware that you didn't have a few days earlier when you put up a comprehensive list of the hardware you had for sale.

You are giving far more reason for people to claim scam, than most scammers.

I doubt anyone's reported quite as many threads as I have  Cheesy

No, no they haven't. I've also mentioned before that I would recommend you as moderator if we needed any extra staff.  Smiley

Although, I marked one of your reports bad by accident once, and I feel bad about it  Sad the handled/bad report options jump around when you update them.
Aha I wondered why it was only 99%   Wink
\o/ Fixed! Presumably thanks to reporting enough and the numbers rounding it now reads
805 posts with 100% accuracy

Yay, I don't feel bad anymore.

2112  Economy / Speculation / Re: China bans bitcoin mining hardware on: January 07, 2014, 11:23:30 PM
What a stupid FUD.  If ebay, an US company,  banned bitcoin miner trading, does it mean the US banned bitcoin miner?

Ebay has more or less banned Bitcoin miners. Try selling miners on Ebay.com and you either get your listings taken down, or you have absolutely no sellers protections.
2113  Other / Meta / Re: Unreasonable Account Banning, Help Please. on: January 07, 2014, 04:37:45 PM
How about if you had an option in the account setting which allowed you to disable the display of all signatures for your user (login).

This way members who don't want to see spam , beg-addresses, signatures can turn them off themselves. No input required by moderators. All users can be happy? Hopefully it's already an option in the forum code, as I doubt bitcointalk.org would have enough money to hire someone to code such a change if not... /s Cheesy

I guess in the long run, if this were an option, the # of paid sigs would naturally decrease, as advertisers realised they might not be getting as many views as they thought they were...

Its not the big flashing letters in the signature that people are concerned with, like jackjack said, there is already an option to not show signatures. Its the 15,000 posts per week of people trying to boost their pay count at paid advertising.

I'd hope that the first step is putting the smackdown on those who abuse paid signatures, if that doesn't work, then disallowing paid signatures, if that doesn't work, remove signatures all together. Hopefully they would stop with just more smacking.
2114  Economy / Goods / Re: Bitcointalk.org shirts anyone? on: January 07, 2014, 04:33:33 PM
5 more spaces till we go to print.

Do you have an escrow situation all set up? I'd like a shirt, however you are a new member, and there is nothing to prove that this isn't a scam.

You are right. If you have doubts you could always wait till the first round is over price will just be going up a bit and shipping would not be included. And honestly if I was scamming I would try and get more money then just $15 from u, but I do understand your concerns.

Well its not a case of, its only $15 from me, its at least $360 because you would be taking order money from everyone. However, I do appreciate you thinking of it as a valid concern and not just getting mad. I wish you luck, and you will probably see me for batch 2 or 3 if everything does go smoothly.

No offense, but I've seen people put far more work into much smaller schemes at parting people of their Bitcoins.

you will be missed  Cry
Fret not, we will unite again my friend.

No one will miss dank - stop spreading FUD.

Dank will overdose, the world will go on.  No need for anyone to concern themselves.

Not true, I will miss Dank. I like him.

Both Alcohol and Marijuana are drugs so *slaps both of you*

Both Alcohol and Marijuana are both naturally occurring drugs. Dank, if you don't think a plant can be bad for you, try smoking poison ivy (don't actually do that) if you are going to use either, moderation is key. There are a lot of things in nature that are not supposed to be ingested, so the point that all organic substances are not harmful is moot.

Dank is an odd guy, but who cares as long as he isn't doing anything destructive. Vod, Dank has a payment plan setup with Squall, harass him about it when he defaults. Dank, if you think you are going to die for whatever it is, get some life insurance, and put it in your will to benefit Squall. Maybe economic collapse wont happen until some time after your jesusing.

2117  Economy / Goods / Re: Who runs this site? Would you like to make Bitcointalk.org Merch? on: January 07, 2014, 12:06:40 AM

2118  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-01-06] AMD acknowledges the benefits of its hardware for bitcoin mining on: January 06, 2014, 10:51:14 PM
It would be interesting if AMD started making ASICs. They have the funds, machinery, and employees to completely out compete the existing manufacturers.
2119  Other / Off-topic / Re: I bet theymos is freezin' his fuckin' ass off in Wisconsin. on: January 06, 2014, 08:11:31 PM
Twas 75 degrees (F) in my area about a week ago, and we are supposed to hit -8 (F) in the next few hours.Parts of Minnesota are feeling -60 degree temps today, poor bastards.

As far as Theymos goes, I'd bet his house is a nice toasty temperature. I'd be surprised if he doesn't have any asics or old GPU rigs laying around. My Asics are what are keeping my fish warm. Pffft who needs 750W Fish tank heaters when you can just get a couple Antminers.

For the love of god, yes everyone here is crumbs, zumzero, and everyone else that has been banned. Honestly people, nearly every single user that has posted in this thread has been reported for "being crumbs"

Can we get back to the discussion about the service, rather than the discussion about the members involved in the discussion of the service?
