What about some people use new accounts to defame me?

I was defamed by a stupid guy before, I felt strange, I never talked to this retard man. And he gave me negative feedback

Is that possible to remove that fake feedback? Luckily my current trust is good, not negative.

Assuming you are talking about this?

Feedback is not removed, but this is why there is a trust hierarchy namely default trust at the moment. That combined with the lack of reference link, no proof given by the person leaving you negative feedback, and the fact that they are a 6 post newbie with 0 posts interacting with you, their feedback would be disregarded by anyone in their right mind.

You have three related Topics running, I made a mod edit in one of your threads (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=986763) linking your other two topics, please continue your conversations in that single thread. I'll be locking these two so that people can reference them.

I'm not joking. I actually just looked into buying a goat in the US.
I was thinking about getting it shipped to you and then find a family member in the US who'd be willing to hold onto the unicycle until I find a way of bringing it back?

Hehe, I appreciate the enthusiasm, but I suppose it would have to be a goat + trade for the Unicycle. They sell goats near me on Craigslist for $100-200. I've looked at getting one before, but I'm in a residential area, and the neighbors might not appreciate it. But hell, what do I know, I'm not a mind reader, only way to find out is to get a goat.

1466  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Account Hacked and Return by Admins on: March 18, 2015, 09:19:08 PM
Just out of curiousity, and you can remain hidden if you chose, but who on this forum has had their Bitcointalk account stolen and the admins get it back? I've only heard hearsay about 1 person. IronMarvel I do believe was their name. I am highly curious as to why I see all these stolen accounts and lots of information proving that they were stolen, and they never get returned. I added a poll to the thread so you can just answer the poll and leave, you don't have to post any comments unless you want to.

Its pretty simple, the Admins aren't going to return an account unless they can prove 100% that they are the original owner. If they sign a message from a Bitcoin address that they used in the past, that pretty much clears it up. If they have emails with pms, that is pretty inconclusive.
1467  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Salty's Spring Cleaning (Lots of stuff you want) on: March 18, 2015, 09:10:33 PM
I purchased the two gold coins from from the perth mint from Salty, and he shipped them the same day that escrow was funded (even though I made it clear that I was not in a rush to get them), and they arrived in very professional packaging.

If you are looking for a good deal on anything of the above that he is selling, this is the place to look.

I appreciate the kind words. Thanks for your business.
1468  Other / Meta / Re: Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ on: March 18, 2015, 08:48:03 PM
Interesting reading on the  rules etc.

Q: I saw a guy selling Bitcointalk accounts. Why is that allowed?
A: Since we can't effectively prevent these sales (proxies, TOR, sales in other forums), we don't because otherwise we would be giving the users a false sense of security.

why would this be giving the user a false sense of security. If a person sells an account then that other person might of already been banned or suspended in the past or done something illegal or traded or scammed and just got a new account with no limits on it. This only promotes for making it simpler for people to get away with doing or brake TOS and rules and repeating getting banned on an account coming back and scamming again.

Rules should have it 1 account 1 account only if you get banned you can not make another account up. Proxy access should be also suspended and not used as it will keep the risk and also prevention of scammers coming back joining and be a lot more cleaner of scammers. Giving the ability to buy an account just evades ban rules and defies any of your rules or regulations in place for that person to oversee them rules by making a new account bypassing or buying an account and bypassing rules in place. Sort of contradicting your own rules in place than being a false sense of security.

It's been discussed before, how difficult it is to catch multiple users if they are doing it right, at the moment I say allow it and let them get lazy and mess up. Otherwise, if it was a solid rule they could step up their game and be harder to find out.

There are a multitude of reasons for not banning multiple accounts. One reason is indeed that it would be too difficult to reliably do so, why make a rule that you can't enforce? Also, people have the right to pseudonymity/free speech. Allowing people to have multiple accounts is pretty useful for certain situations. For example, if I had a strong unpopular political opinion, and I spoke about it on this account, I'd have people pming me to annoy me about it, distracting me from more important things. Same thing is true with business owners. If you own a Bitcoin business, having another account to represent your personal opinions and having another account to represent your business is often a good move. You look a lot less professional if you are getting into arguments with people as a respected business person.

As far as buying/selling accounts, again it can't be enforced. They could arranged account sales through encrypted methods through PM, off site, etc. Just allowing it makes it publicly known that its something that happens. If we banned account sales, and then someone got scammed by an account that was purchased/sold, people would be upset at the forum for not protecting them as promised.

Something a lot of people don't seem to think of, is that this forum is about conversation. The fact that it has a section for people to trade is secondary. Bitcointalk isn't a Bitcoin classified site, we aren't going to create rules that negatively effect the site's purpose just for a single section that is a secondary priority. There are Bitcoin market sites out there that deal exclusively in trading items for Bitcoins. They probably have more strict rules for helping people buy/sell things, but I doubt their forum policy is as developed as this forum's.

Ouch!  How about shipping to Canada?  I'm still slightly interested because I watched some videos and taking the words right out of your mouth, they are pretty freaking badass.

Shipping to Canada isn't too bad (for the size/weight anyway) USPS quoted $101 for Priority Mail shipping. I'm looking for cheaper options. The Box is 16x18x28 and weighs 30 lbs.
1470  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Casascius 10BTC Silver Round /w Gold B on: March 18, 2015, 07:48:27 AM
To his/her defense, bitcointalk makes it FAR too easy to scam people by allowing such nicks to exist (with special characters).  ` and ' and . shouldn't even be allowed as part of the username.  And, once it is obvious as it is, the scammer/squatter nick should simply be blocked from use.

Agree 100%.

A lot of times they are banned. Just nuked the person in question. People who create accounts to scam by pretending to be another user are by extention PM spamming people, so even though moderators don't remove scams/scammers, oftentimes there is enough overlap that we can deal with them.

Sorry to interupt your sales thread, but report any other fake bitmarket.io accounts
1471  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Salty's Spring Cleaning (Lots of stuff you want) on: March 18, 2015, 06:01:37 AM
OK lets trade hobbies.  I'll give you a 3d printer & 2 BTC for it!  Now you too have another hobby to invest time in.

Hehe, see this is why I always encourage offers in non traditional payment mediums, because Bitcointalk people have cool stuff to offer. It would be tempting, but I already have a CNC Mill that has a convertable 3D printer attachment. Ironically, one of the reasons I'm looking for the extra Bitcoins is to buy the spindel I need. I will have to respectfully decline, but I sincerely appreciate the offer, and am glad the bartering spirit is still alive and well. If someone offers me a goat or something like that, I'm honestly going to have a hard time turning it down.
1472  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Salty's Spring Cleaning (Lots of stuff you want) on: March 18, 2015, 05:38:00 AM
That is such a beautiful Sax.  I want it, but cannot play it, so its really a moot point for me to pull the trigger on it - make me a deal I can't afford to lose and I'll give in and buy it!  (like maybe 2 BTC and I'd give it a new home)

I and the saxophone appreciate the love, but at two bitcoins, I would hold onto it and work my way through sucking until I could play it to its full potential. I'm learning how to play, but at the level I'm at, I can get the same performance out of a student model that is cheaper than a semi pro model. Truth be told, I will probably end up buying the same saxophone again in the future once I can play it to its full potential, because the sex appeal that is produced while playing it is pretty rediculous. It makes me feel like a straight George Michael when playing it. Saxophones are interesting creatures, the crappiest student model that isn't a chinese knockoff is around $500. A semi pro model is around $3-5k, and a professional model rarely is under $10k, often reaching into the $20-30k range and sometimes nearing $100k.

That said, of everything that I'm clearing out, if the Saxophone doesn't sell, I wont be upset in the slightest, I'll just keep playing it.

Just a suggestion, if you learn how to play the saxophone while riding a self balancing unicycle, pretty sure that makes you the coolest person in existence. I can hook you up with both  Wink
1473  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Salty's Spring Cleaning (Lots of stuff you want) on: March 18, 2015, 05:18:06 AM
I have added prices for the Saxophone, SBU V3, and Euphonium. I also added a photo gallery for the Saxophone with some more detailed/close up shots (dayum its pretty) due to request.
1474  Other / Meta / Re: CanaryInTheMine is further abusing the trust system [Edit] on: March 17, 2015, 08:23:53 PM
Neither one is on my list... am I looking at the wrong thing here??

I plan to expand default trust list with members having some responsibilities (i.e. identify abuses or scams etc...). will post in Meta later.

Thanks for clarifying that. I guess I still don't know how to figure out who is on whose Trust list.

You can check Hierarchial view if you scroll all the way down on the Trust settings page, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;full

You're quite a cool guy OP.
If I was to say that I'm interested, how much would international shipping be? (UK)

I like to think so, thanks  Smiley

I can look into it tomorrow morning, I can't imagine it would be terribly cheap since its a relatively large / heavy package, however I'll check DHL and a few other carriers that handle freight, and I'll find you a quote.

Shipping the Unicycle to the UK is really not feasible, my first postage quote was around $500, second was a little over $200 with DHL. Sorry about that.
1476  Other / Meta / Re: BANNED - Can i know the reason? on: March 17, 2015, 08:05:38 PM
On your first page out of 20 posts , 18 were one liner and insignificant.
14 day ban is not a big time , just wait.
If you really like to post so much , Remove any Signature from your Profile and do one liners/ unrelated posts freely Smiley

Ya so removing Signature would allow that kind of posting??

No, you will still be banned for that sort of posting, having a paid advertisement in your signature just draws more attention. People spamming still get banned regardless of whether they are paid to or not. Don't make the mistake of a lot of others here are, wait out your 14 day ban, don't try and ban evade, get your post quality up. And continue as if nothing happened, now knowing the rules a bit better now, so that it doesn't happen again.
1477  Other / Meta / Re: Trust on: March 17, 2015, 07:56:55 PM
This is why I offer myself as moderator of the trust system, because I would not stand for crap, and cannot be biased, if I know NO-ONE here, and will not do business here, due to this trust business model, I know how to clean it up, please show your support, and give me the moderator position as volunteer..

If I can find out that VOD/OYO arte two in the same, face abuse for at least 6 months after both their denial's, is'nt this evidence that I can in fact get to the truth?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=737322.msg10800982#msg10800982

Is'nt this what we want, a decent moderator know one can bribe?

And I'm a 15 foot tall dinosaur. Theres no way that we can verify that anyone would be a good moderator of the trust system. If I opened a scam accusation against you, and you were the moderator of the trust system, would you let it stand? What if someone offered you 50 BTC to side with them? What if someone offered you 1000 BTC to side with them? How is Theymos going to know your character well enough to trust you or anyone else for that matter with that kind of power? And what about the at least 19 other trust system moderators that we would need in order to keep up with it all, how are we going to verify that they are as honest as you? Think about how many resources and staff members Ebay has to "try" to regulate their feedback, and they still suck at it. There are a ton of ways to get scammed on Ebay leaving you with no actions to take, and they have a full staff who work 40 hours per week solely on trying to moderate their feedback system.

There is no way possible that anyone could be trusted with that kind of power, there is no way to eliminate self interest and biass, so why not let people know just how the system works so that there is no expectation that feedback is?

1479  Other / Meta / Re: Question about Ban Evasion on: March 17, 2015, 07:34:24 AM
If the ban appeal is denied, just try appealing again in 30 days. While permanent bans are permanent, sometimes Admins will reconsider if you haven't caused any issue and wait 30 days, sometimes longer.
1480  Other / Meta / Re: Trust on: March 17, 2015, 05:38:21 AM
There will not be a point where the trust system is moderated in any way, theres no point to having it if someone can moderate it. Just because someone leaves someone negative feedback, doesn't mean it effects the person with the negative feedback against them in any way. If you left negative feedback for everyone for no reason, people would just disregard it. If Vod left me negative feedback for having the letter Q in my name, people would disregard it, and trust Vod's feedback of others even less. If I left Vod feedback for having the name Vod, my feedback would be worthless and people would no longer trust me. The point being, the trust system isn't a definitive means of judging trustworthiness, and no one should take the green/red letters and numbers with much value until they read the specifics for why those points were given.

I dont think the current system is perfect, and sure modifications will be made as progressive ideas for improving it are made, but moderating it is not one of them. Limiting who can or can't leave feedback is also a feature that will not be added at any point.
