1682  Other / Meta / Re: Tecshare Maliciously Abused The BitcoinTalk Trust System on: November 07, 2014, 09:08:33 AM
I still trust Tecshare from a business standpoint, but I have removed him from my trust list. And yes I have been really busy, found out my house's wiring is shit, and I've been spending the last week or so trying to keep my house from burning down, sorry for my absence.

in short, what I mean. I trust Tecshare with my money, however he did handle this situation poorly. He asked me for advice on what to do after this incident happened, and I advised that he change his feedback to a 0 BTC risked sum. Frankly, people should be able to leave whatever feedback they want, as long as its accurate. If I wanted to leave people feedback saying, this guy is a jerk because X, I should be able to do so, however fraudulently applying a value isn't ok, which is why I pulled Tecshare from my list.

Despite this incident, I wouldn't hesitate to deal with Tecshare (personally) I wouldn't hesitate to look at feedback he has left with a bit of extra weight, however whether it was Tecshare's fault, or just a bad decision based on limitations of the trust system (lack of a neutral or whatever) being on the default trust list is a privilege which puts extra weight on your shoulders to make sure you are accurately giving feedback, and this was handled poorly.

Staff don't have the ability, Admins can I suppose, but they generally wont.
1685  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 3X antminer S3 ~0.6 BTC ea (see details) on: October 22, 2014, 11:30:46 PM
Who cares what they cost new...they will never make positive ROI at your prices. List them on eBay you will get your asking price possibly.

pretty sure that they might because difficulty increases less and less plus residual value after another 2 mo.

You are free to charge whatever you want, but since you answered this I figured you actually may want to know 450 Ghash @340 Watts and 10 cents/kwh for $240 (aprox .6 BTC) if the difficulty doesn't increase at all (0% increase per month) you will ROI after 154 days.

https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/calculator

(feel free to let me know if you want me to remove this message, I'm not trying to crap on your thread as you are welcome to charge whatever you want, but you seemed genuinely interested)

I'd be happy to throw an offer to you, if you are willing to negotiate on price based on reasonable calculations.

1688  Economy / Economics / Re: When will the USA pay their debts, if ever? on: October 21, 2014, 12:51:36 AM
There have been many points in US history where they could have paid back the entirety of its debt, however it was originally a strategic position to hold onto a bit of debt. IE if the US owes China a bunch of money, and then Canada moves in to attack the US, it would be in China's best interest to help protect its own money. The question is, has the US dug itself in too deep? I think probably, but with drastic measures and 20 years of a miserable tax increase, the debt could be paid off. Might be easier to just default and go to USD (are we on 4.0 now?)
1689  Other / Meta / Re: MagicalTux & DefaultTrust [ Why ?] on: October 20, 2014, 09:21:21 PM
It's not a problem to have a scammer in the DefaultTrust. It's only a problem if someone in DefaultTrust leaves people feedback that is false and MagicalTux hasn't done that. A non-scammer could leave people false feedback too and have to be removed from DefaultTrust. Being in DefaultTrust doesn't mean you're trustworthy, you don't get a higher score or anything.

He's still in DefaultTrust because he's on John K's list. theymos would have to remove John from DefaultTrust in order to remove MagicalTux, John was a global mod and a forum treasurer so maybe theymos doesn't want to remove him.

John could also remove MagicalTux himself but I think John is away from the forums due to health problems.

This

He isn't on the default trust list. He is trusted by John K who is on the default trust list. Set your trust depth to 1 (Just people on the list) and not 2 (People trusted by people on the list) and MagicalTux will be there no more.

Its really not a big deal since neither of them are active, but its not really in Theymos' control. He can control who is on the default trust list, he can't control who those people trust. So the options are A) JohnK comes back and removes MagicalTux or B) Theymos removes JohnK
1690  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Buy, Sell, or Trade Collectors Silver, Gold, and Bullion on: October 19, 2014, 06:45:04 PM
Daily bump, Quantities and prices updated. It really is a buyer's market right now with silver, the spot price is beginning to decouple as people realize that the price manipulated silver stocks aren't worth the paper they are written on.

1692  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: MOD ABUSING THE TRUST RATING SYSTEM IN GMAXWELL on: October 18, 2014, 10:15:52 AM
Actually, I'm going to take this opportunity to really explain how the trust system works. First off the number next to your trust is completely insignificant. The red letters that say "warning trade with caution" are also insignificant, what actually matters is 1) The feedback you have 2) The source of the feedback 3) The amounts traded

So I'm going to use some examples from my own trust list, as I actually have a variety of feedback both positive and negative that helps to explain what I'm talking about. One's "Trusted/Untrusted" feedback is completely changeable. Most people that haven't set their own trust lists go by the default trust list, that is Theymos' controlled central trust list. But in reality, if anyone cares enough to change it, you can set your own trust, so you don't see the Default Trust list as a trusted source, for my example I do.

This is from my "trusted" feedback. If you use the default trustlist, you will see these references as "trusted" if you don't use default trust, you could see me as having no "trusted" feedback, in which case it is all "untrusted"

This is what contributes to any trust number shown next to my name. Now, I personally see those people as "trusted" because I have the Default Trust list registered. I also see those people trusted by Tecshare, Ryland, and Mush because I trust those three people thoroughly, and I trust their opinions on who is trustworthy.

This is part of my "untrusted" feedback

These people aren't trusted by default trust, but that doesn't mean that before you trade with someone you shouldn't read all of someone's trust. As you notice, I have some negative feedback, so what a responsible trader would do, is read into those claims as well to judge for themselves their validity. From there you can do some digging and find out that I gave Inaba negative trust for doing an experiment where he paid people to give people negative trust. While that isn't any sort of offense, since the feedback system is unmoderated, I was able to voice my opinion on his trust. As shown below

Note, I never did a trade with Inaba, but I found what he was doing as untrustworthy in character. So in my feedback that I left for him, Risked Bitcoins is 0, as I was never at any risk of losing coins, I wrote my reason, and included a reference link that someone who is interested can view. However! Inaba actually used the trust system correctly leaving me similar feedback, saying that I was interfering with his experiment, he risked no bitcoins with me, etc.

another example is Serotin, we both gave each other negative trust. Again I never traded with them, but I explained my concerns, risked BTC is 0, included a link, so anyone trading with Serotin can read my feedback, follow the reference link, and judge the validity of my claim for themselves.

The feedback that I got in response from Serotin shows how one "abuses" the trust system. Note the 10,000 BTC risked, they are more than welcome to post an opposition to my feedback explaining their point, however there was never a circumstance where 10,000 BTC was risked. Again, nothing anyone can do about that, however it does destroy their credibility, which is what I'll explain next.

NOW! If I was someone else deciding whether or not to trust my feedback, I would first judge the validity of the people posting the feedback. If you have never heard of anyone that has left me feedback, even if I had +1000 feedback its no good to you. Kluge for example has been a valuable part of the community for a long time, so chances are more people will value his feedback over someone else's, however if you have known Inaba for a long while, and you trust his feedback, your perception of my trust changes. Thats what drives the forums feedback system. There is no such thing as a trust system. No amount of feedback magically makes me trustworthy, what makes someone trustworthy is the amount of positive feedback that one has gathered from people that a potential trading partner trusts. I have not personally traded with a lot of people on the forum's default trust list, so their feedback doesn't mean much to me, even if you have a + or - 1000 next to your trust score. Another factor to consider are the amounts traded. If I have 100 positive feedback for 1 BTC trades, that doesn't magically mean you can trust me with 100 BTC, you can do your own calculations as to what my trust is worth (as trust does have a financial value)

I'm not upset in the slightest about any negative feedback I have against my profile, because 5 minutes of searching, and the average reasonable person will side with me in the disputes I've had. If someone decides not to trust me because of any of the negative feedback I have, oh well, thats on them. So how do you handle feedback against you that you see as wrongful? You explain on the other person's trust why they are wrong, and if you are right, people will trust that person less, and trust your opinion more. If people don't trust their feedback, their feedback against you is worthless.

So that is how you win your fight. If you are right, you reasonably explain why you are right. If you are correct, people will value GMaxwell's opinion less, and then his feedback against you is irrelevant red letters and negative numbers or not.

1693  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: MOD ABUSING THE TRUST RATING SYSTEM IN GMAXWELL on: October 18, 2014, 08:53:07 AM
I think you need to include a warning with your posts, I don't have epilepsy but I may now after reading all of this. I answered your question quite a while ago as to whether GMaxwell was using the trust system correctly, if you would like clarification I'd be happy to help, but if you aren't willing to accept my clarification, oh well. Build your own forum and your own trust system. But please, stop with the caps, bold, and text base emotes?

Anyway, the trust system is completely unmoderated, Gmaxwell could have given you negative rep for being a lizard overlord, and "the forum" would have no recourse, you may just have been able to get more public support to pressure him to remove it if he was using the trust system incorrectly.
1694  Other / Off-topic / Re: weirdest/disturbing movies that have you ever seen? on: October 18, 2014, 07:22:16 AM
Cannibal holocaust. One of the most brutal movies ever, banned in a bunch of countries, director was charged with making a snuff film, as there are gorey scenes that were impossible to create with the technology available at the time. It didn't help that the actors were actual Amazonian tribes people, and they were paid to "go into hiding" after the movie, so it was difficult to confirm that the actors were actually still alive. They actually made the director replicate a scene to get out of prison. Watched it with some buddies, and it made more than a few of them physically sick. And we are of the desensitized by the internet generation. If you think you have a strong constitution and want to test yourself, or you want to play a cruel joke on your friend, I highly  recommend it.

I've seen most of the movies on this list and would classify them as comedies, if you are really really looking for something hardcore ^

Back to my previous point, what good is a trust system where people aren't allowed to warn people? He said that he does not trust you, however he has not traded with you. Its not a false claim.

Again how can a user leave a neg feedback with out ever doing a trade Huh?

Because if there was a rule saying you can't leave negative feedback without trading with them, there would be no warnings before someone is scammed and the system would be completely useless. Gmaxwell is trying to prevent you from scamming people (Again I don't know the backstory nor do I especially care as I had no intentions on trading with you anyway, so I'm not going to judge) as long as he isn't lying, I don't see a problem with it. He says he does not trust you and why, he does mention that he did not lose any money to you, and is essentially warning others why he feels how he does, it is then up for them to judge the validity of his warning.

But the system for trades lmao there was no trade nor any plans for a trade he done this for BS reasons based on forum posts in the BAN pool scam thread that it

straight of the trust page

"Risked BTC amount is money that the person could have stolen or did steal. For example, if you do a currency trade where the other person sends first, your feedback for them would have 0 risked BTC and their feedback for you would have risked BTC equal to the BTC value of the trade."

So he is abusing the system how many others has he done it too

Its not just for trades, its a feedback system. If you had scammed him on a trade, the BTC value wouldn't be 0. If you had to trade with someone to leave feedback, it would be completely worthless, then scammers would be able to scam, get negative feedback, and then ditch the account. I don't know any backstory nor do I care, but as long as he isn't falsely accusing you of having scammed him, hes not abusing the system. He did not say "This user scammed me for X amount" he pretty clearly said that he does not personally trust you, and the amount that you scammed him for was 0.
1698  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: MOD ABUSING THE TRUST RATING SYSTEM IN GMAXWELL on: October 16, 2014, 07:26:32 PM
Seems perfectly fine to me. Risked BTC amount 0, because you did not personally scam him, and the reason for the negative trust is well explained.
