If only BTC ATHs gave me orgasms I'd have this week with a happy ending.
2103  Economy / Speculation / Re: RIAA is now going after Bitcoin on: November 05, 2013, 10:37:59 AM
Any chance the LEs go after people who have donated to such sites? As we know, BTC TXes aren't anonymous by default. Is there any service that would act as a bitcoin transaction proxy that would mix the coins before sending them to the final destination?
2104  Economy / Speculation / Re: RIAA is now going after Bitcoin on: November 05, 2013, 10:30:46 AM
Awesome thing about bitcoin is that thanks to it, people will be able to pay artists directly and no Mafia organisations like RIAA that only leech money from artists will be needed at all.

That's exactly how it is. Artists should now seed their work by themselves and add bitcoin receiving address to the description. I almost always donate the seeder and/or torrent search engine with some beer money and I love it. If only all the authors had a bitcoin receiving address for donations.
2105  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why I think Bitcoin will be over $5000 a coin on: November 03, 2013, 09:33:43 AM
Satoshi deserves his (future) multi-billions for the amount of thinking and programming work he put in. He kept the faith mining for 18 months while a few people came and went until finally the whole project started taking off.

Didn't Zuckerburg just peer over Tyler and Cameron shoulder's for his billions?

Even if satoshi wants to spend his coins he can't cause it would likely crash the price

You mean like spending all at once? That would be so stupid. I would only spend the amount of bitcoins that I need to spend to survive and maybe improve the quality of my life a bit.

Boy,  you lost me at "Bitcoin is definitely"

It is the second time I opened this topic and also the second time OP lost me at "Bitcoin is definitely". This topic is a trap!
2108  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin might rise over 200 unexpectedly soon on: October 22, 2013, 07:51:22 AM
OP you may want to change the subject of the thread to $400 instead of $200....

Yes, in that dream the price went past 200 with no problem but the charts I got to see were 200+. It does not mean the price won't go to 400 because the message of the dream was precisely "150-200 range will be over very quickly". Thus, I can't say anything about 400 and I haven't got another dream Cheesy

However, now it is good time to recall one of my earlier btc related dreams. In that dream bitcoin's price went to 10k $ and I felt ecstasy. I hurried to the exchange to get a couple of bitcoins into fiat for my material needs. However, by the time I got to my private keys the price was already in the range of 100k - 1000k and I felt positive panic to get to the exchange even faster. Turned out that the price was in a bubble and by the time I got to the exchange it had already corrected itself but was still out of Earth's orbit (100k+ $ prices). That dream however said nothing about dates and the main message was panic and ecstasy Tongue We're still waiting for it to come true.
2109  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin might rise over 200 unexpectedly soon on: October 22, 2013, 07:27:22 AM

Today 7 days after this dream we can already say that we've reached 200 and indeed it was unexpectedly fast. I now believe that sometimes I see future in my dreams. Cool

keegi bitcoini spetsiifilist tarkvara ka arendab?
2111  Economy / Economics / Re: Everyone says US can't raise debt ceiling forever. Why? on: October 18, 2013, 01:08:36 PM
Well, I still believe that debt ceiling can be raised forever. Where did you get the info from?

As kokomoko said "If interest rates get to high, the American government won't be able to sustain itself. At this point, it doesn't matter how high the debt ceiling is, foreigners won't lend their capital to the government."

Which is pretty much equal to "cannot raise dept ceiling forever".

I personally and subjectively think that US keeps doing what it has been doing because
a) if they get more money from other countries they just use it to prepare for the great default
b) should great default happen, US will say "sorry dudes, I'm broke and you will never see your money again"
c) should other countries demand US to pay with its natural resources it will use the military force to defend itself (initially funded with the lenders' money).

win win for the US, am I right?

To me it seems like "C'mon man, borrow me your money so that I can become more powerful than you in the military aspect and will never have to pay you back because I'm stronger than you."
2112  Economy / Economics / Everyone says US can't raise debt ceiling forever. Why? on: October 18, 2013, 10:08:07 AM
I hear this a lot. In all these conspiracy and economic videos people say that this can't go on forever. At the first glance it seems obvious that parabolic rise can't go on forever but can anyone explain me why this is the case with US debt ceiling? These are just numbers in databases so why can't they be increased forever. Is US facing integer overflow with its debt ceiling?

Second question related somewhat to the first one. Let's say global politics is a competition. What if I loan a lot of money from other countries and never plan to pay back? I can then spend the loaned money on my military equipment so that if others start to demand the money to be paid back I could just show them the middle finger in the politically correct way.

Last month I received the ASIC and the emotions were exactly the same as they were in the dream I saw 6 months earlier
Holy shit, you predicted your emotions!?
Are you some sort of pan-dimensional being with, like, superpowers and stuff??

Not sure how much of your reply is an obvious joke but in case you didn't get my point then imagine this:
You see a dream where you are extremely happy about something related to bitcoin. Now what would that be that could make you very happy about bitcoin? The answer to this rhetorical question is the actual prediction. The emotions are just a hint.

I believe there are not many people that get exact predictions in their dreams. I know one however. A female friend of mine saw a very detailed dream of another woman. The face, the name and a message in russian language "развод". She didn't know what that word meant. However, soon it turned out that her husband was cheating her with the same exact woman that appeared in her dream and she was shocked when she found out that "развод" means divorce. Dreams are not a joke, be glad if you get to see them. It gets even more awesome when you get to experience lucid dreaming and astral travel but I will save these stories for another time Cheesy
2114  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin might rise over 200 unexpectedly soon on: October 15, 2013, 07:11:22 PM
My last bitcoin related dream actually manifested. About half a year ago I dreamed that my BFL ASIC finally arrived and in that dream I felt like I coudln't care less as if I received some piece of junk. Last month I received the ASIC and the emotions were exactly the same as they were in the dream I saw 6 months earlier Cheesy

To me there is no gamble anyway so the last night's dream is just an interesting event as I don't get to see bitcoin related dreams very often. I'm in since the single digits and won't cash out before the next order of magnitude so 200+ leaves me quite cold. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see whether this speculation actually manifests. If it does I should start taking my dreams more seriously Cheesy
2115  Economy / Speculation / Bitcoin might rise over 200 unexpectedly soon on: October 15, 2013, 07:56:16 AM
Tonight I saw a dream that the 150-200 range will be over very quickly and the next stop is 200+ prices. The main message of that dream was not 200+ prices but the fact that 150 .. 200 range will be conquered surprisingly fast. One might wonder what is the time period for surprisingly fast. My wild guess was a month but it can be longer as the dream didn't say anything about exact dates - just the fact that it would happen quickly.

EDIT, added this chart for comparison:

I think Mike did a great job by explaining everything related in the FAQ thread. Please don't spread FUD just because you personally disagree.

Explaining something is one thing, discussing it as a community where people other than devs have right to say a word is another.

I agree, I seem to have missed somewhere the explanation of why the other thread was locked, where has that discussion moved onto if not here?

here's the old topic: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=300809.0

bla bla bla

still sounds more like a separate program / module / plugin rather than something hard-coded into bitcoin QT.

Conclusion:
Don't send a large sum of money in a single transaction. Instead, make many small transactions that you can afford to lose in case of this rarely occurring MITM attack. When the other party receives this small transaction, it should somehow communicate to you "Keep going, you're sending to the right address". The communication part should obviously use another channel based on some existing trust. If you know you can trust blockchain.info then you can just check the receiver on that site, trusting the CA used by blockchain.info.

That's silly. Assume a CA is rogue, they are able to generate a cert for blockchain.info and MITM. I'm not sure how checking Blockchain.info will help because that will just tell you if a transaction was received or not.

It was just an example. If you can't think for yourself then here's another one: go behind the bushes with the receiver, exchange your public keys and everything will be fine. Then when the receiver gets your transaction he or she will send you a message "Thanks dude, I got your initial coins, now send the bulk." (signed by the owner of the public key that you got from behind the bushes).

And now, don't come saying "that's silly, what if someone else wearing your receiver's mask comes to give you the public key behind the bushes". So, it's not silly. Obviously if I was to send 1 000 000 bitcoins then I wouldn't trust blockchain.info but if I had to send 1 bitcoin, it wouldn't be a problem.
