Kenneth,

Just had a thought, might be a bit of a rabbit trail, but HashFast customers are eventually supposed to get a compensation plan paid out in bare ASIC chips. Just wondering if VMC could offer a product or service for them to get their ASICs put on boards or ASICless boards supplied or something. That's an "If and when" thing though.

hashfast is doing that? That is the scuzziest thing i have ever heard that they could do - who the hell wants a bare ship to make up for the fact they were owed hashrate months ago?  The bare chip is a useless hunk of silicon to 98% of customers who do not own an assembly line and rights to a PCB design.

Thats worse than selling equipment to ACTM when hashfast customers are owed it first and foremost

Anyone running 3 S1 on a seasonic? I need help!

I keep getting the psu going into some sort of protection mode...ie no power after running for 10 minutes.

My PCI-E are plugged into the lower right 3 PCI-E slots.

Running 2 units seems ok. PSU is 1250W, 2 units stock, 1 unit OC 375.

There probably isn't enough power on the 12V rail to run 3 S1s.  Check the specs of your PSU.

I'm running 3 OC'd S1s on a Rosewill 1300 gold and pulling about 1215 watts.  Mine is rated at 108A on the 12V rail.  > 87% efficiency, up to 92%.

M

I have a corsair AX1200 that is running on 213V power. It is able to handle 3 antminers tuned to 387.5MHz each.  (I tuned one down to 381MHz to slightly lessen the load and because that one unit was just over 1% hw errors)
2103  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: [GUIDE] BitFury Miner Support/Tuning on: April 12, 2014, 12:09:40 AM
so one of my boards recently stopped working (slot 3, I have other boards in slots 1,2 5,6 & 9,10) - I tried reseating it several times and tried it in other slots (slot 6 and slot 13) with no effect. no hashrate, no heat, no detection in the stats.log file.

looking at it theres no visible problem. a bit of dust had accumulated between the inductor and the TPS53355 possibly (but not likely) shorting 2-3 of the pins ont he upper side of the chip. I dont think this is the problem, but its theonly lead i have

any easy troubleshooting techniques?  I have a spare TPS53355 chip I could actually drop in if that is the issue, but i dont have the fine-point soldering skils to do that myself. (contracting out that task might work, but not sure what to look for in the yellowpages (Toronto, Ontario) to find someone capable of doing it.)

any ideas? I did not have a miultimeter handy at the time so no voltage info yet. I might have to wire up a 12V/GND to the board to check at home

Is the S2 having delivery problems?

no

All orders should be shipped now right?

Yes, I have my tracking number for batch 2.

My tracking number indicates that a package ticket (ie: tracking number and destination info) was filed on the 10th, but current status is:

"A UPS shipping label has been created. Once the shipment arrives at our facility, the tracking status--including the scheduled delivery date--will be updated."

Sounds like Bitmain is 2 (or 3?) days late on its promise to ship before April 10th. I have no doubt my miner will still show up next week, but this is a bit later than i had expected or hoped.  (I had thought they would blow everyones minds by shipping on the 8th or 9th, but apparently there are still kinks in the process)
2105  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner (1w/GH/s) on: April 11, 2014, 10:48:58 PM
I have a UPS  tracking number for my batch 2 S2.
Same here.  Although...it has not been received by UPS yet.  So it has not left the building at this point.

Exact same situation here - which is a little dissapointing since IMO this is no longer shipping 'BEFORE april 10' - It will probably be the 12th when Bitmain hands over the package to UPS, which is 2 (if not 3) days behind the promise.

Bitmain has been excellent in every previous order - hopefully there will be a coupon or other remediation for the delay (even if only a slight delay, its a loss of ~$35/day)

^miaviator shouldnt have issues with those connectors. thats a massive chunk of copper, probably much more material than a 4AWG wire and capable of close to 200A I would imagine

^you can also just delete the [img]junk.jpg[img] line so that things dont repost a dozen times in a row. if you want to comment on that damn gridseed photo, comment on one of the photos, dont quote all 4 of them
2108  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner (1w/GH/s) on: April 11, 2014, 10:45:34 AM
give bitmain time. its not uncommon to give the tracking info 24hrs+ after they ship, and i am expecting to receive my tracking info in the next 14 hours. (If not after 14hrs ill be a touch more concerned, but they have a great track record that speaks for itself. they focus on shipping, not forums
2109  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [GUIDE] Undervolt antminer s1 [1.19W/GH at the wall] on: April 11, 2014, 01:31:10 AM

thats the size of the component you need to swap out if you want to change a resistor value without a pencil mod
2110  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Server PSU for Antminer S1, step by step guide. on: April 11, 2014, 12:03:34 AM
Wondering...should I go with 16 AWG or is 18 AWG adequate?

18 awg would do, as are 3 wires x 7 amps (amp limit) = 21 amps.
Each blade will not absorb more than 15-17 amps overclocked.

But, still are close to the limit and the 18 awg will get a little warm.

I would go for 16awg to be safe for any unpredictable reason.
Thanks. The 16awg was only a $1 more Smiley

I sell 16AWG pci-e cables in my sig.   I advise caution when using 18awg wires as I have found that some places do not seem to actually use proper 18 gauge wire.

If you cut open a 18awg wire from ebay, its usually only a few threads of wire, perhaps a 22awg in reality. Cheap wires can and do cause fires

its just sad when mining hardware is sitting unused in a UPS depot for an entire weekend

+1

Can't you go to the depo for it. I always do that. When I see customs had cleared, I run to the depo and pick up.

my ups is all sorts of weird. it clears at the airport then moves to a delivery depot about 10km away. UPS does not like to release things until they fulfil the delivery commitment, and in any case the process of picking it up is lengthy PITA. I might give it a try if i get word its in canada for the weekend, but AFAIk it might sit in the airport waiting till monday AM clearance or something else.
2112  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner (1w/GH/s) on: April 10, 2014, 03:41:23 PM
Well, so I just sent an email to bitmain asking for a tracking number and they answered me that they wont give me a tracking number until 12-13 of April  Sad
That is because they are late or because they need time to process the tracking numbers as usual ?

Processing. They'll ship everything out on the 10th and 11th, update all the trackings while they're in transit for delivery on Monday. <--- guess based off history.

sounds about right. (Im a little dissapointed they are shipping on a thursday for that reason. Shipping on the 8th or even the 9th would have almost certainly resulted in delivery BEFORE the weekend)
So would shipping it on the 3rd February 2008? The batch isn't due to ship on the 10th, so its shipped on the 10th.
agreed - its just sad when mining hardware is sitting unused in a UPS depot for an entire weekend (typically i order bitmain equipment on a friday or a monday for this reason, and get my gear around wednesday/thursday).  I don't hold it against bitmain, it was clearly specified as by the 10th and I 100% understood that when i ordered
2113  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: PCI-E cables with 16AWG wires and tinned ends - great for server PSU mods on: April 10, 2014, 02:45:10 PM
20 sold already in <24hrs!

I am away from the 14-21st, so if you are interested i can only accept and ship order up till sunday evening, otherwise outstanding requests will ship on the 22nd
2114  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcement: Bitmain launches AntMiner solution, 0.68 J/GH on chip on: April 10, 2014, 02:43:25 PM
will this ^^^ connector above allow me to run my biterupter cube off straight DC 12v at say 20 amps spike voltage? or whatever it needs?

the connector is a PCI-e so yes it will fit the block erupter cube. The wires are thick and it can definitely handle 20A peak (I would be a bit cautious going any higher without babysitting it until you are sure it is not getting hot).  the leads can be joined to a 12V power supply however you please (soldering them to a server PSU to use with antminers is my primary use)

Thanks!

no problem. Im shipping out some more today to make a total of 20 cables sold in under 24 hours!  I will be away all next week so if theres more interest in these I need to ship them before the end of the weekend, otherwise they will ship on the 22nd.

Only a sad little man would threaten a middle-aged businessman with a gun and then pretend he is selling 9mm ammunition on here. You are pathetic. A pathetic runt of a man who needs to threaten strangers on a forum with violence to feel like a tough guy!! Grow the fuck up! Jesus are you twelve or something?

If you met me - blah fucking BLAH! You are a dumb fuck too aren't you? You think anyone invested in the company is related to the ceo?! What a total DUMB ASS! I'm in the frigin UK if you don't believe me ask for hard evidence.

My tip to you is STF up and stop taking the steroids you gym-monkey. I will seriously put my coin into uncovering your identity and having you charged if you annoy me anymore. If the ceo knows who you are it would be easy for me to serve papers on you. You are a fool and a very stupid immature little man. Again stop harassing my investment or I will see you go to court for your crimes. Idiot.

oh noes - minerpart is going to cry to the CEO of bitcoins!   you better pray to satoshi that he doesnt get your mailing address and start spamming you with flyers and handwritten insults

ps: minerpart is implying he is a middle-aged business man? Considering the use of at least 10 insults and 3-4 actual slurs it sounds more like a 22-year old living in the southern USA
2116  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [LIKELY SCAM] Antminer group buy on: April 10, 2014, 02:33:37 PM
why didnt you noobs see this scam from beginning ?

Next time look at the business model and if its unfeasible then its a scam. Business is to make money not charity. Greed blinded you and now you paid for the lesson.

Just move on.

too good to be true + internet forum + upfront payment + failure to disclose important info like the 'free electricity' (which would otherwise cost $350+ per month)

sigh

uhhh..... no it hashn't   (pun)  Its still sitting around 17TH
(eligius has beeen under a pretty steady DDOS lately that affects stats but not the actual hashrates and share submissions. The insane dips/peaks int the hashrate graph are related to that, and show under almost every single eligius page)

wow that is some sexy hardware. keep it up - I am really looking forwards to the time when the SP10 can ship from stock, or at least less than a few-day pre-ordering

Is the concern wire gauge / fire hazard? While I have not done the math, the cable on the Thermaltake is just warm to the touch (my Starbucks coffee is way hotter Smiley.

yeah, thats the issue. by running a full antminer on only a single wire lead (2 heads) you are putting 360W+ through only 3 wire pairs. Most 18awg wires cant handle this (so yours might be 16awg), and there are past reports of these sort of power connectors failing if overloaded.

If you go throught the bitfury threads, there are a lot of reports from users that used a similar PSU to run >400W to the bitfury board and ended up with small fires or melted wires.

just be mindful of the wire temperatures. If they get any warmer than 'warm' you start increasing the risk of it failing. higher temperatures can create higher resistance and increase the voltage drop, further increasing the amperage pulled by the hardware. If its just a very mild warmth then maybe putting a little airflow nearby will make sure it doesnt become a problem
