2121  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 08, 2022, 03:28:14 PM
Assuming the IRS-CI folks actually took custody of the BTC, How in THE HELL did Zhong justify storing ~50k BTC in a way so insecure that this could even happen?  Maybe they only have the addresses, and the private keys are somehow secure (like maybe a simple BIP39 passphrase???).

I am all for keeping your setup simple so you don't lose the coins via complication.  But there is either more to this story, or our dear "Loaded" was incredibly  ill prepared.

Reading through the court document it sounds like the feds just knocked on his door and said "Give us your Bitcoins." And he said "OK." He was also ill-prepared.

But what's curious is how did nobody here know the coins had come from Silk Road? He found an exploit in the SR withdrawal system, stole 50,000 BTC, and then showed up here like 2 months later, and said, "check me out, I'm a whale." Given blockchain forensics were a bit more archaic back then.

PS.  Wonder if our little dump has anything to do with this?  Nah, right?

I think it has more to do with the rumors of FTX being insolvent.

Steady lads.

Ya win some, ya lose some, and hope the former is greater than the atter. Ya go from preyin on whales to being chewed on these dats.

And sometimes you lose it all... Ouch.

The offer is open to Jihan Wu as well.

Consider it primarily as a vote of no confidence in the Bitcoin Unlimited software and development team as it currently stands. I'll add the contingency that the deal is null and void if there are major changes to either.

Make posts without getting paid??!

Must be some kind of sicko.

No but really it is xhomerx10 who makes the hats and he does a beautiful job. They are for regular posters in the WO thread but if you ask him nicely he just might make you one.

He isn't going to single handedly move bitcoin one way or another.

This is true yet maxis are required to hate him b/c Tesla sold their BTC, so he can move some things, LOL.

All this buying as of late and Elon hasn't even actually said anything about DOGE & Twitter yet. Just imagine what will happen when he does.

2126  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: what is your reason for investing in NFT? on: November 04, 2022, 03:26:52 AM
Share with me your story and the reasons why you switched from crypto investing to nft? 🙂
What was the reason behind it? And what was interesting about it? 😉

NFTs give crypto a much-needed use case, but out of all of them, I find Historical NFTs to be the most interesting. Blockchain tech has been around long enough now that there is demand from collectors for old and rare digital assets, created before the NFT explosion in ~2019.

Nowadays anyone can and does create their own NFT, and there will be an infinite number of NFTs minted in the future. So how do you pick out what's good from a limitless supply? The answer lies in Historical NFTs, which have a set number, can't rug you, and will only increase in demand as they get older.

For those who want to learn more I invite you to check out my thread on the subject:

Looks like "Adam" succesfully scammed investors out of their money and disappeared.

Coin was launched in Feb 2014, kudos to them for having lasted as long as they did. Its still churning out empty blocks one after another.

@ChiBitCTy. You made a good choice in getting Nyheim Hines from the waiver wire! I also tried to get him after seeing that he was traded to the Bills. He might be more favored to get more touches?

This might be his week as S. Barkley has his bye week and save Josh Allen the rest of my team isn't looking too great.. What happened. No IRs yet I've fallen quite a bit after such an auspicious start.

I like what Yahoo says about Cooper Kupp, although it isn't good for my team:

Quote
He's reportedly dealing with a low-ankle sprain and is tentatively expected to play through it this week against the Bucs. Kupp is all the Rams have on offense.

My my how much things can change between Super Bowls.

Lost 4 bets in a row so I won't have a call for this Thursday's game, lol.

Seems like a waste of perfectly good DOGE to throw into my account at the moment.

That's if everybody pays, and they won't. However, if just 10% of them paid, then that would be 122.2 months to make $44 billion, granted the subscriber base stays steady, and that's still not too bad, given how much they make in advertising & other revenue. The real number will be closer to 1-5% I'm willing to bet.

Anybody have some low-supply mosaics that point to image files they want to sell me?

I never really understood the relationship between NEM and MONA, other than they both have support from Japanese investors and users. Was there some kind of bridge that connected the two? After all, I did find out about MONA thru NEM, although it was years ago and I don't remember the significance.

Looking for stuff like this of low, capped supply that might be in the form of a mosaic or other asset on NEM:

https://card.mona.jp/explorer/card_detail?asset=NEMRINCARD
https://card.mona.jp/explorer/card_detail?asset=NEMBLEM
https://card.mona.jp/explorer/card_detail?asset=NEMGRAPH

Willing to pay in the crypto of your choice.

Yep, just a memecoin that happens to be 10x faster and 100x cheaper to send than bitcoin.
If we are looking at how fast or cheap it is, than SOL should have been at the top better than bitcoin, if you have other point of views then it would be smarter, but just the pace is not good enough.

Obviously there's more to it than that but I have no incentive to explain it to you.
2132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dogecoin - History repeating itself on: November 02, 2022, 02:41:33 PM
Doge will inevitably be compared to Shiba Inu dude, because if we look at the development of the two SHIB is doing better compared to Doge

LOL, SHIB is an Ethereum token, what "development" do you think is happening with it? Its governed by an immutable smart contract. It literally can't be "developed." I dunno why anybody would buy it or use it as a currency when you could just use ETH, which you need anyway to move SHIB.

although Elon Musk is promoting both when he thinks to encourage the crypto community to buy this,

He's never promoted SHIB. Somebody asked him how many he held once and he said "zero." Its not his fault if there are other cryptos trying piggyback off the community & good name of DOGE.
2133  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.10.0 on: November 02, 2022, 04:26:49 AM
Pretty remarkable that Elon doesn't even have to say the word "Doge" any more and the price still flies. Of course he has been making some non-verbal insinuations recently. Which are great. I think Dogecoin wallets are coming for Twitter and I do not think he is the kind of guy who would just go "psych!!" and not follow through.

2134  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: The Historical NFT Speculation & Appreciation Thread on: November 02, 2022, 02:53:51 AM
Since we are talking current historically significant turning points of NFTs, have you by any change taken a look new Ethereum Implemention Proposal eip-5606?
That could be another turning point point for NFTs and seems very interesting.

Not really relevant to the scope of this thread... involves turning new NFTs into newer NFTs for the sake of metaverse-related platforms on Ethereum. TBH I don't really care about what goes on with Ethereum. Its far too expensive for NFT gaming, for the most part.

I saw the rise of games like Axie Infinity and Zed Run whose gamepiece NFTs are still way overpriced. I think Decentraland is probably the best metaverse out there, but land parcels remain ridiculously overpriced and most of what people have built is advertisements for NFTs. Not to say it won't be more widely trafficked in the future but for now its kind of a ghost town.

Historical Dogeparty NFT Timeline by @HarryBTC

https://twitter.com/HarryBTC/status/1587185347359899650

HarryBTC, the author of a few other great Historical NFT timelines published the following breakdown of early Dogeparty assets today, coming up with a unique categorization system for the different types of image tokens (technically they are proto-NFTs as most have a supply >1 and are therefore fungible).

He assembled the following categories which I feel accurately contain about 99% of all tokens issued on Dogeparty in 2014:

Tokens from Category 1 are the most sought-after and among the most scarce. They include the likes of JOLLYROGER, MILKYWAY, and another one I'd never heard of until today, MINICANVAS.

Here is one of the two images in the imgur link that was placed in the description for MINICANVAS:

- Tokens from Category 2 had images added to them off-chain (BACON, BITBEG, DOGEDIGGERS)

- Tokens from Category 3 had images associated with them at the time off-chain (DOGECAR, SHITCOIN, MILLERLIGHT)

- Tokens from Category 4 had images attached to them on-chain in 2021 or 2022 (JEDI + other Little Shibe tokens, GOLDENSHIBE + other Dogermint tokens, RUNNER + other Dogeparty Runner tokens)

Edit: Damn looks like the Bengals went on bye a week early !

I don't think I've ever seen a team go for 2 as the first score of a game Huh

Yeah that was a bit odd but they certainly knew what they were doing.

Congrats on a well-deserved W.

I'm now realizing the main problem with trying to draft players that have high projected PPGs: they have huge expectations placed on them, and not much room for even huger performances. For instance, Josh Allen is regularly forecasted to get 30 pts per game -- there's a much higher chance of him only getting 20 pts than 40 pts.

I think that makes sense.

gm ... its time for the first cup of coffee☕ Cool

Cmon man when you take an image from a tweet, at least credit the tweet you took it from. You don't even need merits... what are you doing??

And this... another merit farmer already posted this... there's simply no excuse.
2140  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dogecoin - History repeating itself on: October 31, 2022, 05:53:55 AM
he will integrate Dogecoin into some Twitter-profit-scheme.

If by this you mean integrating a Dogecoin wallet, tipping mechanism, and accepting DOGE as a payment method for premium services, then I think its highly likely.

This has led to a superficial pump in speculative nature.

As opposed to every other pump of any coin, ever?

Why do people believe that Elon is not going to simply drop Dogecoin in the future?

He has a big bag, accepts it for payment of Tesla merch and recharging stations in a few areas, and has stated multiple times he plans to continue supporting Dogecoin in the future. He is just not the type of guy who will let his investments fail, nor would I want to bet against him.

Lets take a look at a similiar memecoin and its history:

Shiba Inu.

Not at all similar. One is a ETH token specifically designed to leech off the success and community of the other. DOGE has had its own blockchain & a strong community since 2013.

Now we have history repeating itself. Except this time with Dogecoin and Elon Musk as its only pillar of support.

Not true. DOGE has several bigtime vocal supporters, including Mark Cuban, Snoop Dogg, and of course Vitalik who has donated millions of dollars to the Dogecoin Foundation.

Do people really believe DOGE can survive without Elon Musk backing it?

Survive? Yes. Thrive at its current level? No.

Seems like the negative reaction over this issue from maxis just stems from them being their usual sour grape selves, jealous of the success of anything crypto-related that isn't Bitcoin, seemingly unable to experience happiness unless the price of BTC is pushing all-time highs. A cursed albeit self-imposed mindset.
