It's my first time to hear that NewYork can't use other exchanges other than coinbase. Have you tried waves platform? they are using waves to trade. Others are Bitrex, Hitbtc, coinexchange, cex and a lot more, do your own research there are more to find, the one that I have suggested are the most used in our place.

You should have just hold more of Bitcoin and Ethereum as this two definitely will give you more profit in a long term basis. But since it's your money for you to decide, you have a list of of coins that have potential and gaining fame. Waves is also good coin for a long term basis and there are many more.
