The way Betcoin dealt with my missing rakeback and status points was the hair that broke the camels back for me.

Interesting post (all of it!), and it rings true with what I've seen of how they operate.

From DarkDays' post, it seems like the simple answer is that they pay you rakeback only on the share of the rake that they receive, and with the network games that's not the same as the amount you pay.

The obvious solution to this is to make that information public. Currently the VIP page simply says:

Quote
Tournaments / Sit & Gos

1 CHIP FEE = 5 Status Points

Entry Fee   Status Points Earned
0 Chip Fee (freeroll)   0
0.1 Chip Fee   0.5
1 Chip Fee   5
10 Chip Fee   50

It doesn't say that if you play on the network games you only get half of that amount.

I expect there's a similar unwritten rule about not getting status points if you take the table-starter bonus, which is why I didn't get paid for that session I played.
2162  Economy / Gambling / Re: BetcoinPoker.com Betcoin.ag-Big Tourneys-BONUS-Freerolls, Ring Games, Real Poker on: November 24, 2015, 04:55:39 PM
My guess is that your account hasn't updated your points yet for the most recent period. Maybe wait and check again after 14 hours or so from that last time stamp.

I waited. Nothing was added to my status points last night either. The points are simply not paid.

*Addendum: why not just try live chat, what have you got to lose. I'd be willing to bet they'd be able to clear this up within a few minutes of connecting with an agent.

I wasn't trying them because they have told me before that they can't look at accounts and are not really support. They're more like a babysitting service.

But since you bet me, I decided to give it a try:

How much were we betting? Wink

I was playing dice today and saw this error message when I tried to place a bet:

  "Maximum profit that can be earned is 1000."

Does that mean the maximum profit per bet is 1 BTC?

I think you could reasonably afford to make it a little higher if you have a bankroll of at least 480 BTC as is claimed in the thread title.

This is exactly what a CLAMjew whale digger would say though to lull a community into a false sense of security to increase the coin price to dump on it further is it not doog? I'd be leary of him saying he has no more addresses. it seems to perfect he just be out now after some of the projected numbers I saw.

You're right, and I'm suspicious by nature. Of course, he could also be telling the truth. We can't know the difference.

Even if digging resumes, we won't know whether it's the same guy or not.
2166  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: No-nonsense CLAM staking pool on: November 24, 2015, 06:42:23 AM
Hi.

Would you be interested in staking a few thousand CLAMs of mine?

It would help reduce variance for you and the people you stake for, help reduce the orphan rate, and not have any downside that I can see.

If you don't want me diluting your share of the pool I understand, but I don't see a downside.

If so, shoot me an address.

Yes you are as welcome as anyone. I may close the pool at some point when it gets BIG, but nowhere near that yet.

xSurm[...]

If you don't mind would you use sendmany and break into pieces of 20 CLAM. I am in the process of setting up multiple wallets so I can move coins in and out of the pool more effectively (I will give someone a deposit address and the sendmany into the actual staking pool) the but for now the above address is paying directly into the pool.

Sure thing.

I don't know if you know, but you can use 'sendtoaddress' to send multiple identical outputs too:

Quote
$ clamd sendtoaddress xSurm[...] '{"count":100,"amount":20}'

Wait, I think I missed something.  The whale has self-identified and said that he's out of addresses?

Yup. Check the post history of "curious".
2168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CLAM] CLAMs, Proof-Of-Chain, Proof-Of-Working-Stake, a.k.a. "Clamcoin" on: November 24, 2015, 04:29:03 AM
So.. the digging problem has fixed itself?
We have to hope that the walle wont sell all his clams at same time.

Well, this particular BTC whale has stopped digging for now.

There's no guarantee that he won't start again (although he says he has no more addresses to dig) or that another similarly sized whale won't turn up tomorrow.

So I wouldn't say it has really "fixed itself". And some would argue that nothing was ever broken, and that everything is working as planned.
2169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CLAM] CLAMs, Proof-Of-Chain, Proof-Of-Working-Stake, a.k.a. "Clamcoin" on: November 24, 2015, 04:27:25 AM

No I'm trying to sync from the network. That should at least be possible, right? I have very good network connectivity.

I remember seeing the client get stuck on a bunch of "orphan" messages before too. I don't remember how I got past that point.

What if you try connecting to just one of the known-good peers? ie. use connect=x in clam.conf where x is one of:

104.236.149.112:31174
144.76.185.69:31174
88.198.207.8:31174
199.233.246.224:31174

Do you still see the orphan issue?

Take note that over 8K CLAMs was invested into just-dice in the past 24hours, who knows how long that has been going on for but the big excavator fella could have been slowly investing it so when the price bounces back he is continuing to make profit when he disappears.

Note also that when the price dropped from 0.002xx to 0.001xx around 70k CLAMs disappeared from the JD bankroll, presumably to go into the poloniex orderbook. Some of the 8k you saw being invested could be some of that 70k coming back now that the panic is over.

Or it could be the whale digger, like you say. Maybe both.

Thanks for the bounty. I found more, all on the FAQ page:

Yeah, the FAQ was real messy. Although it was not written by me, I did fix up what you pointed out, and I'll leave you another bounty in your account soon Smiley

"Soon". Smiley

Ah, I'm sorry. I had so much going on I somehow missed you. I did promise you a bounty, so I'll make sure to get it squared away asap.

Do you have an estimate of how long this will take?

You asked me to point out other errors in your site in exchange for a bounty. I did so. And you didn't pay the bounty.

What's the deal?

Ray PM'ed me, apologising for the delay and letting me know that he had credited my moneypot.com account.

Thanks Ray. Smiley

Hi,

when will be the results published?

Also, can you explain the "Early bird bonus pool" a little bit more? Is this something new?

I can explain:

if you bet right at the start of the lottery, you get the full bonus pool if you win.
if you bet half way through, you get half of it
if you bet right at the end, you get none of it

It goes down linearly. If you bet X% of the way through, you get (100-X)% of it.

I could only stake one block in 2 weeks, with around 200 CLAM

What size stacks did you have the 200 split into?

Since he only staked once, it doesn't really matter. Even if the 200 CLAM was in a single output the one stake will have frozen it for 8 hours only, so he was still actively staking for 13.6 days of the 14.
2173  Economy / Gambling / Re: BetcoinPoker.com Betcoin.ag-Big Tourneys-BONUS-Freerolls, Ring Games, Real Poker on: November 23, 2015, 06:59:25 PM
Thanks for your reply.

Now if you are missing/not getting your status points at all, then that's prolly a different issue your having.

Right, and I am not. My status points this morning are exactly the same as they were last night. I got nothing from the overnight run. Nothing shows up in "events" around 6am (like it does every other day at around 6am) and my status point count didn't change.

I took a copy of my status last night, and again this morning:

Quote
Sun Nov 22 20:56:45 PST 2015    Current Level: Bronze III       Status Points: 448.1098 Next Level: 1,000 Status Points 44.76%  Betcoin Points: 987.4788
Mon Nov 23 08:04:40 PST 2015    Current Level: Bronze III       Status Points: 448.1098 Next Level: 1,000 Status Points 44.76%  Betcoin Points: 987.4788

As you can see, they are identical.

If so, it would be faster resolved with live chat support bc they will actually go in and look at your account right then and there and see what's going on exactly.

Live chat support has previously told me that they can't look at user accounts, and that I should make a ticket. But tickets never get looked at, and posts on betcoin's own forum get deleted, so I guess this is the best place. At least here the post will be seen and not deleted.
2174  Economy / Gambling / Re: BetcoinPoker.com Betcoin.ag-Big Tourneys-BONUS-Freerolls, Ring Games, Real Poker on: November 23, 2015, 05:10:39 PM
Can you explain how the poker rakeback and status points works please?

Usually I get both of them paid overnight, but last night I got neither.

Yesterday I only played one session, and I qualified for the table-starter bonus on it.

I got paid the bonus about an hour after ending that session, but didn't get any status points at all.

Here's a screenshot of my 'events':

You see 6:36am 2 nights ago I got rakeback + status for my previous day's play, but there's nothing around 6am last night.

Is this a bug? Or do we not get status points if we are getting the table-starter bonus? I was expecting that the "immediate" bonus was 100% rakeback, and overnight I'd get the extra 10% rakeback plus status that I usually get, but that didn't happen.

I'd appreciate an explanation of what happened. Thanks.

Edit: SMG wanted me to confirm that I am the same 'dooglus' as on betcoin.ag. I am.

SuperClam told me that I was virtually solo mining and as such had little chance of getting anything for my effort and sent me 50 clams for my support.

That right there 'proves' I'm not her. Giving away money on a whim? That doesn't sound like me at all!

So.... can we say that the clam digging has "ended"?

We can at least say that it appears to have ended for now:

I guessed he had around 517k CLAMs to dig. The chart shows a little less than 500k being dug since he started, so my estimate may have been a hair on the high side:

Checking my clam logs, I see something strange about the recent 'digging':

So it looks like this guy, whoever he is, is able to claim around 3.5% of the rewards in each block, and is working his way backwards through the blocks.  According to xploited, the initial distribution ordered the rewards randomly, so there's no reason to think that he won't be able to claim a similar percentage of the rewards from all the blocks.

3.5% of the initial distribution means around 517k CLAMs. In which case this digging spree is only just getting started.
2177  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: do you play loteries ,did you won something on: November 23, 2015, 04:56:28 AM
How about the case in Bulgaria on their 6 of 49 game getting in two consecutive draws exactly the same numbers?
Someone was sending a message.
Anyone with probability knowledge to tell how is this possible.  Huh

Or in Serbia when the TV host on live draw made the mistake to say the number seconds before it was actually "picked" by the machine ...  Shocked

Do you have a reference to either of these two? I hadn't heard about them before.

There's too much to reply to in individual posts without spamming the thread, so it's another "monster post" I'm afraid:

[snip]

I can try to convince you of the timescales. At 2015-11-13 22:51:23 the digger dug the following addresses: [x9NXaGSz] [xA9338mM] [xPWEDmTS] [xEZKQHEU] [xPosuwLa] [xNNwmVoL] [xXL7bZ5s], all of which were funded in block 5763

How do you know the whale digger dug those particular addresses,

I can't be sure, but since they were all dug from the same initial distribution block at the same time it is overwhelmingly likely that they were dug by a single entity. The whale digger was working through the initial distribution blocks in reverse order and was working on block 5763 at that time. So it's overwhelmingly likely that he dug those addresses.

and is there a way to find which Bitcoin, Litecoin or Dogecoin addresses correspond to those clam addresses?

Yes. Just replace the CLAM address version byte with the BTC address version byte.

Specifically, for the addresses I listed:

x9NXaGSzxLHjvBbBdmeE2U8dx43Y4XWhfK = 124tgPcXgcohsoVKHJ1ZbHqriwkJchW2P3
xA9338mMFZW43AoQ6rUKpmopi21kYTtMPq = 12qQ9Fvsyr21znhXkNqfPbX3UuiXAvVmiy
xPWEDmTSwiRYb8EKebWJU8f98hwC3vcoLn = 1GCbKtcyfzwWYk8TJ7se2xNMubdxZuzsaB
xEZKQHEUbTyzxfQTD6RSdcoTgYMy8DwYsy = 17FgWQQ1KkVxvHJarcnnCSWgTS4jpeoayt
xPosuwLaxeRHYz1NGYZwDCs5eJ7gMw9tNy = 1GWF24W7gvwFWbuVv4wGn2aJRBpSusRXrM
xNNwmVoLPsRojqbweaBthv2Qt6A85xSN21 = 1F5Jscxs89wmhTW5J6ZEGjjdeyrtmAkbXK
xXL7bZ5sw9XKMt57A7QGAMXqCbNiywm1W2 = 1Q2UhgFQfS3HKVyEodmbjBF3yV5Vd8QDXE

Is there a way to get a list of all the addresses this particular whale digger has already claimed his clams from?
Is there a way to get a list of all the addresses this particular whale digger can potentially claim clams from in the future?

Not with 100% accuracy. We can use clustering tools like walletexplorer.com to find addresses which are likely in the same wallet as the already-dug addresses.

I have searched this thread, the clams website, the clams github, and the internet for a list of the Bitcoin, Litecoin and Dogecoin addresses whose snapshots were used in the clams distribution without success. Is there a list of those distribution addresses available?

I also searched the early blocks in the block explorer, but couldn't find any Bitcoin, Litecoin or Dogecoin addresses. Where are those addresses in the clams blockchain?

It's not a secret. Here's the information:

Quote
The specific blocks at which the snapshots were taken:

   BTC block 300377 (2014-05-12 12:48:17)
   LTC block 565693 (2014-05-12 13:06:31)
  DOGE block 218556 (2014-05-12 13:09:17)

All the addresses from all three of those coins received 4.6 CLAMs if they held non-dust amounts at the specified block height.

To convert from BTC/LTC/DOGE address to corresponding CLAM address, replace the version byte from the old address with CLAM's version byte.

Here's Python code that does it for me:

Code:
#!/usr/bin/env python

import sys
sys.path.append("/home/chris/Programs/python-bitcoinlib/") # from https://github.com/jgarzik/python-bitcoinlib.git
import bitcoin.base58

def to_addr(addr, magic): return bitcoin.base58.CBase58Data.from_bytes(bitcoin.base58.decode(addr)[1:-4], magic).__str__()
def to_btc(addr): return to_addr(addr, 0x00)
def to_doge(addr): return to_addr(addr, 0x1e)
def to_ltc(addr): return to_addr(addr, 0x30)
def to_clam(addr): return to_addr(addr, 0x89)

def addresses(addr):
    return '\n%s\n%s\n%s\n%s\n' % (
        '%6s: http://blockchain.info/address/%s'    % ('BTC', to_btc(addr)),
        '%6s: http://dogechain.info/address/%s'     % ('DOGE', to_doge(addr)),
        '%6s: http://block-explorer.com/address/%s' % ('LTC', to_ltc(addr)),
        '%6s: http://khashier.com/address/%s'       % ('CLAM', to_clam(addr)))

for i in sys.argv[1:]:
    print addresses(i)

Who is Creative ? (slip up on the dev's alt name ??)

She calls herself creativecuriosity, curiouscreativity and such like. I call her Creative for short. BAC is short for BayAreaCoins. People call me "doog" sometimes. It's short for "dooglus". I hope that clarifies any misunderstandings.

Who is who and their socks may one day be determined.. Regardless.. you guys are definitely putting on a show.

You and 42dice both like to run gambling sites and.. you have both like to play with posts and/or PM so as to cause confusion or be misleading.

I don't know who or what 42dice is. So yes, probably a coincidence. I also don't know about dash or whatever other distractions you have tried to bring into play. I make posts and send PMs. I don't know what you mean about playing with them or aiming to cause confusion. I use a single account and attempt to be as clear as possible with my communication. Uh, yes! This is public knowledge.

BAC has a campaign to wrest control of the "SuperClams" account from Creative's evil grasp. Or something.

(Klye's art is NSFW.)

I think he prefers the term NSFL. The L stands for Life.

I researched answers to these two queries some more and discovered different coins have a different version byte stored in their address, which explains how a clam address can have the same private key as a bitcoin address, but both addresses will be different. Were the Bitcoin, Litecoin and Dogecoin snapshot addresses converted to clams format before they were placed in the clams blockchain? Is that why I can't find any Bitcoin, Litecoin or Dogecoin addresses in there?

The blockchain doesn't store the addresses, only the 160 bit RIPE-MD hashes of the public keys. It's effectively the address without the version byte or the checksum. So it is identical for BTC and CLAM.

The initial distribution copied the scripts directly from the BTC blockchain without modification.

So yes, you don't find any BTC addresses in the CLAM blockchain, because you don't find *any* addresses in *any* blockchain. Addresses don't exist on blockchains - they are a mirage presented by client software and block explorers to make things more readable.

While I believe you, I think I would prefer it if I didn't.

Did you deliberately fund any addresses at all before taking the snapshot? I imagine the temptation to do so would have been pretty strong.

Doesn't cheaper clams just mean more people can afford more to gamble with -- which in turn equals more people interested and playing??

Just trying to bring up a brighter, positive side.

Thanks for trying, but I don't think price really matters. It's the direction in which the price is moving that matters.

No matter what the price is, I can buy $100 worth, gamble, double-up, and sell for $200. The number of CLAMs I get for that $100 is of no importance.

The direction the price moves is very important however. If the price goes down 75% in the time it takes me to double my CLAMs, I end up losing anyway.

Participation has increased dramatically! (from zero to one)

That's a 100% increase...  Cheesy

1 to 2 would be a 100% increase. 0 to 1 is an infinite increase, percentage wise.

Does anyone know if there is an easy way to get the clam client to send change back to the same address.

You can put:

    change=xJDCLAMZ9rQ11tMf7JUw1Zzvjm5ShkryrU

in your clam.conf (in the same folder as the wallet.dat), then restart the client.

It will send all change to that address.

You can specify as many change= lines as you like. It will pick one at random each time you make a transaction.

You can use a different address if you like, though that one works for me. Smiley

is the definition of 'digging' something like, 'looking for ignored bitcoin addresses to claim the clams therein somehow'?

i can't figure out what you guys are arguing about.  enlighten me

OK, so when you create a new crypto coin, you need to decide how to distribute it.

Bitcoin decided to give it all to miners, 50 BTC per block for the first 4 years, then 25 BTC per block, and so on, halving every 4 blocks.

Some coins the developer pre-mines all the coins and sells them. That's generally considered scammy - the developer gets all the money.

CLAM decided to pre-mine all the coins and give them all away. 4.6 CLAMs were given to every BTC, LTC, and DOGE address that was funded on some date in May 2014.

Digging is the act of claiming those 4.6 CLAMs.

The thing we guys are arguing about is that it turns out that a single person ("curious") has a wallet with around 100,000 funded BTC addresses in it, and so is able to dig up around 500,000 free CLAMs from the initial distribution. The total CLAMs that already existed when he started was something like 800,000 and so his 500k represents a significant increase in the active money supply.
