2161  Economy / Speculation / Re: If I wanted to be BORED to death I would just invest in the stock market on: December 05, 2013, 02:41:06 PM
Some rich investor obviously wants to hold the price above $1000. He can't do that forever and bitcoin should crash downward. Just a matter of time really. $1000 bitcoin is just crazy stupid.

orly? ~12m coins at $1000 is only $12bn

so if *everyone* decided to cash out, thats all it would take to keep the price at $1000. When the global economy works in the realm of trillions, it doesn't seem that unreasonable to me.
2162  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are all your friends telling you to cash out, too? on: December 04, 2013, 09:18:05 PM
I just got one four letter word from my dad:

SELL
Give he knows when to sell did he know to tell you when to buy?

This is the best response ever! I'm remembering that one Smiley

wait a sec... is this the btc-e trollbox? I must be lost...
2165  Economy / Speculation / Re: BitPay black friday numbers suck? on: December 02, 2013, 09:44:25 PM
All I see on the speculation subforum are posts by people who believe we`re going to see $10,000 per coin soon or some other wildly optimistic number, yet I also see many of the same people writing that they used their bitcoins this week for shopping. Why would you shop with your coins if you think they`ll be worth 10x (or whatever figure) next year? Is everyone here insane or what?

Sometimes you just want something.

This can't be stated strongly enough. If I could have bought stuff direct for BTC I would have, but I couldn't so I had to trade for fiat first.

Think of a time in the (hopefully) not too distant future, where you don't *have* to convert to dollars to buy something, and neither does the merchant feel compelled to convert to dollars when the sale goes through.

What is *that* going to do to the exchange price? Smiley

imho, that is when the real fun starts.
2166  Economy / Speculation / Re: Correction Overdue on: November 30, 2013, 01:41:19 PM
It keeps correcting, every day, all the way to 'da moon' Wink

Wow. Some ignorance in here. If any one of you thinks you are 'sane' then I have news for you.

2170  Other / Off-topic / Re: Don't take rpietila Seriously. He's a massive troll on: November 30, 2013, 11:48:03 AM
...He's just trying to manipulate peoples mind.

everyone's always doing that. I think individuals have a responsibility to themselves to think independently. Often they choose not to, ironically so they have someone else to blame for their mistakes.
2171  Economy / Speculation / Re: Rally from $500 happened on very low volume, crash looming? on: November 30, 2013, 09:58:01 AM
It will be more useful if you can predict where the pullback will go to and from where. We all know that at some point it will go down a bit.

One year ago I predicted that it will cross $100, hit $300, crash, and stabilize several months at around $120.

Then I earned the 1000s of btc that I sold 2 weeks ago Wink

This time it is possible to be different. I try to give good advice to become a more trusted member of the community.

If history teaches anything, its that "past performance is not a guarantee of future returns".

What I mean is that everyone is expecting the run-up/crash cycle we have seen before, and so the market being the market, it will probably do what is least expected Wink

Which I think is what you are saying - in which case I agree!

2173  Economy / Speculation / Re: Final Price of bitcoin to stabilize at? on: November 29, 2013, 02:19:34 AM
IMHO it will go to 10 to 100x the final 'stable' value at some point during the mainstream adoption gold rush. Then the sell-off will be epic. There will be the largest redistribution of wealth in history. It will make/or break millions. After the final grand oscillation period it will settle in to the 5 or 6 figure range. I think this is 5-10 years out.

I also think there is about 0.1% chance that I am accurate Wink

Dude, I like your posts.

Thanks! I think it best not to take anything *too* seriously, but in particular oneself. For that road leads to a dark place!
2174  Economy / Speculation / Re: Another Bubble about to Burst on: November 28, 2013, 03:48:49 PM
The deep correction when we first hit $900 makes me feel this has a way to go yet. During previous run-ups, any correction has ended up looking fairly insignificant once the true magnitude of the exponential curve is revealed.

However, as with every run up before, I just can't see how we can possibly go much higher!!!? Which is how I felt at $10 on the way to $30, and then at $60 on the way to $266...

I'm not even sure what is real anymore.

Dit you take the blue or red pill ?

I think the red, it was dark though... I keep seeing lots of green numbers fly past on clark moody, and I can't find a single spoon anywhere in the house!

2177  Economy / Speculation / Re: Where do you see Bitcoin in 5 years? on: November 28, 2013, 02:07:09 AM
I don't think there will be Bitcoins in 5 years. The protocol cannot handle enough transactions/sec without centralization. Bitcoin will be superseded by another coin.

enlightenment is the key!

Today the Bitcoin network is restricted to a sustained rate of 7 tps by some artificial limits. These were put in place to stop people from ballooning the size of the block chain before the network and community was ready for it. Once those limits are lifted, the maximum transaction rate will go up significantly.
2178  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitstamp $1000 is what counts on: November 27, 2013, 11:14:27 PM
I don't even consider prices on Bitstamp to "count".

If you are using Bitstamp you are already behind.

Bitstamp prices count alright. You can move $ in an out of their within days. BTC instantly. It's like gox *used* to be like Smiley
2179  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Value by Christmas on: November 27, 2013, 11:12:27 PM
$720
2180  Economy / Speculation / Re: Would you put all your savings money into BTC? on: November 27, 2013, 11:08:15 PM
no. However as it happens,  bitcoin has pretty much ended up *being* all my savings. lol.
