2161  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: PBmining - legit? on: April 03, 2014, 08:16:23 PM
Running the numbers, they are just too good to be true. Running miners for 5 years will cost more in electricity than they made from the contract sale. That's not even counting the cost of hardware. They'll only be able to keep paying out as long as they continue receiving new sales. Once the new sales dry up, they will fail.

What's that on the upper-left of the table? Did you join the lambos-for-bitcoins club too?
2163  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: April 03, 2014, 03:39:59 PM
First, DO NOT plug this into a 15amp circuit, especially one where other rooms or appliances are wired in at your house.

I suggest a 20AMP breaker, this will give you about 2000W of power more or less.

Close. Do not run at 15 amp circuit above 1440 watts. Do not run a 20 amp circuit above 1920 watts.
2164  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: April 03, 2014, 03:39:30 PM
Accepting a payment of 1k wouldn't be fair to others, its not about the money its about following some sort of order when shipping these things out.

Hey AMT_ Where's our refund?
There's no "position" for you to be in regarding refunds. If you run a business and the customer is sick of waiting (because there's no delivery at all) then he cancels the order. And you refund. You can't agree or disagree. Just not.
So, again, Hey AMT_ Where's our refund?
"where's the money Lebowski...."

And here's the FTC regulations that confirm that AMT is not only illegally delaying orders, but also illegally refusing refunds.

2165  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is profit possible with mining if just starting out now? on: April 03, 2014, 05:32:47 AM
So, I'm new to bitcoin Smiley Was looking at getting a new ButterflyLabs Monarch 300GH/s card.

Definitely a great idea. That way your money will be sitting in BFL's bank while you wait several months for your hardware. In the meantime, the rest of us miners will be mining away on hardware that is much cheaper and more profitable.

In other words, you'd have to be an idiot to order from BFL.

If necessary SWAT teams show up at physical locations where the bulk of the ASICs are since for example one miner has 10% of network hash rate all in one location in East Washington.

Why do you keep making up "facts"? MegaBigPower would be the mine in East Washington, and they're running about 1 PH. that is under 2% of the network.

I saw a TV documentary and it said 7% (I remember that well) and they said they hoped to reach 10% very soon. I saw the racks and racks of ASICs in a huge cooled warehouse-like facility and he was adding more continuously. I don't remember the name. They said they were keeping the exact location secret. The title was something like "The man who owns 10% of Bitcoin".

Found it:

http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2014/03/meet-the-manic-miner-who-wants-to-mint-10-of-all-new-bitcoins/

"2.2 petahash"

That was months ago. Surely it has increased since then. So you are the one who needs to get your "facts" straight before you attack.  Roll Eyes

Guess I have to bitch slap you again. Read the damn title you posted.

I'm sure you can understand the meaning of the word "wants". Just because he "wants" it, doesn't make it true.

Quote
Global hashing power is estimated at about 39.5 petahash, putting Carlson's 2.2 petahash at about 5.6 percent of the world's total.

What was it you claimed? Let me see...

one miner has 10% of network hash rate all in one location in East Washington.

Absolutely wrong, and since you can't handle being corrected, it's pointless to continue arguing with you. Don't bother replying, you're now on /ignore.
2167  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official BITMINE CoinCraft series 28nm ASIC miners thread on: April 02, 2014, 08:00:36 PM
Hello everyone!

Time has finally come for me to make things clear about past happenings and what you can expect from bitmine in the future.

None of what you said means anything. Why don't you come clean with what order numbers/dates you have shipped so people can see if you are being true to your word or not? Be accountable.

P.S. Mining is now concentrated in one pool with greater then 51% attack hash power.

Why do you keep claiming that?

https://blockchain.info/pools

No pool is close to 50%.

What interpetation we have to give at Q1/Q2 promised delivering ? Depends on meaning of "/" in Q1/Q2. What interpretation to give? In fact, it is entirely plausible That "/" means that the Neptune is delivered between the last days of March and early April. Knc should be more careful in writing the terms of the contract.

from wikipedia : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slash_(punctuation)#In_English_text

The slash is most commonly used as the word substitute for "or" which indicates a choice (often mutually-exclusive) is present.

They obviously meant "or", i.e. "Neptune will ship in either Q1 or Q2." They did that to dupe people into believing that Q1 was a possibility. They were never going to ship in Q1, but they wanted people to think they would, without flat out lying about delivery dates. It worked. Tons of people ordered believing in a false Q1 ship date.
2171  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: electricity rates on: April 01, 2014, 11:03:13 PM
Are electricity rates higher for a  in  a residential  area or for a medium size business-- this would be in  southern California?  Southern California edison--- currently paying .30 per kw at home

California usually gives businesses a lower rate. I would expect about .15/kwh for a business rate there.

Our timelines on the next launch are almost the same. I still stand by my prediction that Bitcoin will see a new ATH by the end of July 2014. End of the year I predict $5000 will have been hit at least.

The crash from the $32 ATH scared me pretty bad. I almost cashed out back then. The crash from $266 ATH was a little uncomfortable, but didn't really scare me. Now the slide from the $12xx ATH has me very excited. The next runup is going to be awesome!
2173  Economy / Speculation / Re: watch out Paypal ... Square accepts bitcoin now on: April 01, 2014, 10:50:37 PM
Suppose you are on vacation or are doing business internationally. How much does it cost to exchange your local currency into a foreign currency? I don't actually know the answer to that but I would imagine it is at least 1%.

Tell me about it! Travel (even domestic) with a credit card is a major pain. Since credit cards are so insecure, the credit card companies panic every time you travel. My cards get frozen nearly every time I travel more than 100 miles from home.
2174  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Wall Observer - the Quality TA Thread ;) on: April 01, 2014, 10:41:19 PM
The real question is how much selling pressure comes from Coinbase & BitPay.

Welcome to the forums, Vinny. I enjoyed your piece. And to answer your almost-question: very little, especially in the long term, because the selling pressure from merchants is only half the equation. The other half of the equation is "where did those bitcoins come from that are being sold?" Most people have to buy them, so the selling pressure is nearly balanced by the buying pressure on the other side. The other way is mining. Years ago mining was a signficant part of the market. Now, very little coins are mined compared to volume of coins bought/sold/traded.
2175  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [BFL] List of Lies on: April 01, 2014, 10:15:20 PM
Now that it's April, I guess it's time to update the list:

Oct: "November / December    Initial Shipping"
Nov: "November / December    Initial Shipping"
Dec: "With that in mind, our current schedule is on track for shippments to begin towards end of year."
Jan: "However, this is our second generation, so we have much greater clarity on the process and plan to begin shipments in January 2014."
Feb: "However, this is our second generation, so we have much greater clarity on the process and plan to begin shipments in February, 2014."
Mar: "However, this is our second generation, so we have much greater clarity on the process and plan to begin shipments in February, 2014."
Apr:  "However, this is our second generation, so we have much greater clarity on the process and plan to begin shipments in February, 2014."
2176  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: April 01, 2014, 10:09:57 PM
To put it all into context so you understand it i shall paraphrase the whole lot into one example for you here goes.
you walk into mcdonalds buy an apple pie. there isnt one ready but you paid, they cant refund you because you paid by card so they offer you a 6 minute wait or sundae. either way you luck out you have a wait for what you want or you get icecream but you wanted pie .

If you pick the sundae, AMT will deliver you a bowl full of sour milk and call it a sundae. Enjoy!
2177  Economy / Speculation / Re: watch out Paypal ... Square accepts bitcoin now on: April 01, 2014, 06:22:15 PM
1)  My debit card doesn't cost me anything to use.  Buying Bitcoin costs me 1% or more to get and that's if the price hasn't crashed by the time it clears Coinbase.  So, accepting all that risk, paying more and maybe getting a discount, is a non-starter.

LOL. Complaining about a 1% fee when the value of bitcoins is up about 500% from a year ago. Boohoo, that leaves you with only 499% profit!
2178  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Wall Observer - the Quality TA Thread ;) on: April 01, 2014, 05:22:35 PM
Bitcoin is wonderful for merchants (no chargebacks) but sucks and for consumers .

FTFY.
2179  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: March 31, 2014, 10:09:35 PM
And didn't you also file a complaint us as well?  We don't like clients that do that, or give them preference in anyway.

You promised a delivery date.
You failed to meet that delivery date several times.
You promised power and performance specs.
You failed to meet those specs.
You promised to respond to queries.
You failed to respond adequately.

You caused the complains to be filed. Don't try to punish customers for your failures.

As it is still needs one and a half hour to enjoy the April 1st, this message is real:

we are packaging the Batch 1 of S2 and will be shipping them out tomorrow.

Impressive work Bitmain! Be sure to snap and post a quick photo. We'd love to see how they turned out.
