I was expecting some sort of fightback from the Lankans considering the pitch was really good to bat on.

But they really bend the knee and hardly showed any intent in the powerplay and middle order. Even centurion Dasun Shanaka was playing half heartedly and only accelerated his inning when the match was almost dead. Siraj is turning out to be a real wicket taker in the powerplay and he's making a habit of getting early breakthroughs for the team.
I didn't expect any proper fightback from Sri Lanka since there aren't many great players in their team at present. Hasaranga is literally the only player that I remember properly thanks to his epic bowling skills.

India will whitewash the Lankans in my opinion since majority of their players are in great form. Also, Kohli keeps rocking and 156 kph thunderbolt from Malik was stunning.
Well, it's a high scoring ground and traditionally Sri Lanka has performed well here.

I was checking some stats and one time India made a mammoth total of 400+ runs at the same ground and Sri Lanka lost the match by just 3 runs.
That was in 2009, when we had legendary players like Sehwag, Sachin & Dhoni. Sehwag was the higest scorer in that match. Srilanka lost but it was a good chase by them considering the target was 400+. I donot think Srilanka did not try chasing 370+ target yesterday. They did but couldn't because of the good bowling attack.

Back to back century for Virat Kohli. First dropped at 52 and then at 81, had some crazy lick on his side. Good come back by the legend! Hopefully he will continue his form till the world cup.

Pathetic fielding by the Srilankan team. They gave away nearly 30 to 40 runs to India due to poor fielding. This might come back to them when they come to bat. I am expecting India to set a target of 375+ for Srilanka.

An absolutely great start by the Indian openers. I was expecting Rohit to hit a century, unfortunately he got out. India are 193/2 at the end of 26th over. With this speed they will easily score 350+ runs. It won't be easy for Srilanka to chase such big target. Kohli is looking good and I am atleast expecting a half century from him today.

Bhumrah is facing tough competition but he is still irreplaceable. He will eventually be part of the playing 11 after he has fully recovered from his back injury. It is just the stiffness of the back that he complained about and the team management did not wanted to take any risk therefore he has been dropped. I am pretty sure he would be ready before the IPL and the he would be playing in the upcoming world cup.

The Indian government not happy with news channels covering the accident news of Rishab Panth. The government stated that Rishabh Pant coverage distressing: Govt asks channels to follow code. I also personally do not like the way most news channels & social media covered this accident. They were trying to increase their TRP & clicks by constantly focusing on this news. They should have let the man rest and recover rather making money out of it.

Pakistan VS Newzealand

Pakistan completely dominating the match. Exceptional bowling by Naseem Shah who took 5 wickets and most of them were of important batters. Newzealand bowling was not that good and it was an easy target to chase for Pakistani batters.

India VS Srilanka

The first ODI between these two teams will be played today. SKY will not be part of the ODI squad and Bhumrah is again out. Veterans are back in the team and it would be interesting to see how they bat on their home ground. Expecting a close match between these two teams today.

And I think Australia can hold this position easily. Because if you look at their other competitors, they are far behind Australia. But in this case, India is in a good position but even then they are only two matches less than Australia where Australia has won ten matches But they lost four match and for that they got low rating .
And I think after Australia went ahead in the Test series with South Africa it became more difficult for others to get past them.

Australia have locked there position in finals and now there is competition between India, South Africa and Sri Lanka. "If India win the home series against Australia 3-1 or better, they will qualify for the final regardless of the results in other series" espncricinfo. India have good test record againest Australia as they have won last three series againest Australia, two of them are in Australia.
From 2016 Australia has never lost a test series on thier homeground except two times against India. The chance of India again winning the series against them I'd pretty good but in cricket you cannot be 100 percent sure. India recently defeated Bangladesh on thier homeground in a test series but if you cannot compare Bangladesh with Australia. It wouldn't be easy for India to defeat the Australian test considering the form thie batters are in now.

The ODI match between Pakistan and Newzealand will be again played in the same Karachi stadium where the previous test matches were played. I hope this time the pitch doesn't act weird like it did in the test matches. It would be intresting to see whether it helps bowlers or not. Hoping to see a competitive game of cricket today and not a dull one.

WTC update

Aussies are the first finalist.
Indians have their one leg in the door and need to win BGT by 2-1 or 2-0
Sri Lanka's chances are still there if they clean sweep Kiwis in away tour.
South Africans were humiliated by Kangaroos and now they need to whitewash the Windies at home and hope India and SL lose their respective series.

The real competition is between India and Srilanka. South Africa are out. I also doubt that Srilanka would be able to clean sweep Kiwis in a tour match. So the chance of India to reach the finals is pretty good compared to other teams. Still this table can change in the future.

A tactical mistake from the Lankans by taking Shubham's wicket lol

He was playing ODI and was hurting India's cause so advantage India when the next 3 batters are in okay form with 145 SR.

Surya is just doing his thing.

I haven't seen the Indian batting so aggressively throughout the T20 game, recently. Whatever they score now, Srilanka's win is just out of question.

Suryakumar Yadav makes his 3rd T20 hundred and this one comes in only 45 balls. This is pure class from this man. Sometimes Indian team plays as a unit and today is one such day.

The only thing I saw agressive for India was Tripathi and SKY. I believe he played one of his best knock today. An amazing batter who most of the time controls bowlers. Amazing SKY! Hats off to him and his training. They said Kholi is the answer to T20 but it seems he is the batter who will create history in T20 format.
2191  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: January 07, 2023, 02:04:09 PM
Rahul Tripathi looks promising but he is shaky. I was amazed when he hit two forward sixes with ease. It is so difficult to play those shots. Shuban Gill is struggling to time the ball but if he stays till the end then he would be dangerous. He takes time to settle but has the ability to suddenly push the run rate. For the moment SKY is at his best.

15 runs to win and 3 overs in the bank.

But who cares for results? Umpires bring the light rule and politely say that's enough for today and handshakes!

4.5 days of boring cricket and when things got interesting, here came another freaking draw. 1-0 or 0-1 to either team looks much better than 0-0.
Lol! Classic phucked up happening in Karachi. They as in PCB wanted to win, they went ahead and created or rather designed pitches as a highway in the first and then in this match they tried but again got a highway pitch but, they forgot that they have a unreliable batters. Now, umpires pitch in and believe what batters state about lights. As Karachi is a port city,  it is unable to digest why light factor was raised. Maybe their was another attack from TTP that caused bad light due to smoke clouds ot it was something else.  Grin Angry
Draw tests due to bad light are more of an ICC problem because of their lack of flexibility in the rules.

Broadcasters also play some part in it because everybody knew that in the end bad light is going to play its part, it happened in the first test too. Match could've been started 15-30 mins early.

PCB too share some responsibility as they introduce a long lunch break on Friday due to Namaz prayers, no one will raise this question because of political correction but I don't remember Bangladesh implementing such rules.
Whatever happened won't get unnoticed by the International cricket community. The only good thing that happened with the Pakistan team is that Sarfaraz played a Captains knock while the real captain coud not. If he had gotten out then the match would have gone in favour of the Kiwi side. PCB should consider this guy as a replacement of the present captain for test cricket.

India VS Srilanka

The third and final T20 match will be played today. The series is at level at the moment and today's match will decide who win the series. In the last match India struggled both with bat & ball. Hopefully they won't repeat it today. The Srilankan team was at its best in the last match and I am sure they would like to repeat their performance.

Harshdeep Singh might get dropped and Sanju Samson might replace Rahul Tripathi. I am skeptical about Shubham Gill as his performance has been pathetic in the previous games. I feel he might also get dropped today.

From what I know I was logged occasionally  ( woke up: 12/22/2022 8:43:43 PM - this information is questionable ) ..
What is questionable here is that all those accounts suddenly getting activated then merits being distributed and then you come and ask for a loan with zero activity. Those accounts can be of your friends, family or may be your ALTs but what made them give merits on an old topic is another big question here.

Shardul is an allrounder and he has rescued his team with his batting a number of times under pressure. What I don't like about Umran is the fact that he tries too many things and tries to intimidate the batsmen. This tactic may work against weaker teams. But when he bowls against England, Pakistan or Australia, where the batsmen are more used to express pace, he may get the stick. I have a feeling that his pace maybe more useful in test matches, especially under helpful conditions. T20 may not suit him that well.
He is still very new to international cricket. With experience he would know what to bowl and what kind of attitude is required. This why I want him to play more. He is an asset for India as he is the only fast bowler India has for now. Bhumrah may not continue for after a couple of years and India needs a main bowler which he can become with experience.
2199  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: January 06, 2023, 06:52:26 AM
I was just wondering! If Babar Azam steps down or gets sacked as the test captain who is the probable contender to replace him? I have two players in my mind. The first one is the current wicket-keeper and ex-captain of Pakistan Sarfaraz Ahmed and the second one is another wicket-keeper Mohamad Rizwan.

Who do you think can replace Babar Azam as the captain of the Test squad?

Mohamad Rizwan is playing decently now, and I don't think that the PCB should ruin his career by overburdening him with additional responsibilities (the same thing that happened with Babar Azam). Let Sarfaraz Ahmed handle this responsibility for now, as he is more mature and experienced. I would have considered Shaheen Shah Afridi (once he is free from injury), but having a pace bowler as the captain is a bit extreme. Australia tried to do the same with Pat Cummins, and I am afraid that it is not working that well.
Shaheen Shah Afridi would have been my number 1 contender for the captaincy spot. He is a bowler and would be able to handle the pressure but injuries might hamper him as a captain.

Pakistan have already lost 5 wickets they are struggling to play spin. Both Sodhi and Bracewell have taken 2 wickets each. At this momentum Pakistan might lose this test match.
2200  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: January 06, 2023, 05:39:51 AM
What can you expect from Pakistan they are good in digging their own hole. Losing two wickets for none is a disaster. Hopefully they play the full 90 overs and draw this match. Kiwis also do not have any intent of winning this match otherwise they would have stopped at 250 and given the opportunity to Pakistan batters. Another test match which might end in a draw.

LOL.. 250? 250 in 95 or so overs is just like cakewalk for Pakistan. 350 would have guaranteed a win for New Zealand or draw, but the Kiwi captain (Southee) declared with a lead of 319. Also you need to keep in mind that New Zealand is without the services of a world class spinner ever since the retirement of Daniel Vettori. Ish Sodhi, Michael Bracewell and Ajaz Patel can't be considered as reliable spinners. Given this, I would not support your argument that the Kiwis should have declared with a lead of 250. It would have been suicidal for them.

Pakistan has not been able to chase small totals like 96 runs in the past. The less the score the more mistakes Pakistan batters would have made and the more attacking would have been NZ bowlers but looks like now this match will end in a draw unless Paksitan batting collapse without any reason, which can happen in today's match. At moment I am certain that this match will end in a draw.
