2181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: We have Subforums! on: January 02, 2014, 07:16:30 AM
So should older coins also be keeping their main threads in announcements?

I was just thinking about that. I might take on the endevor to move them, however it will be a slow process as I don't have 500 hours to spend in one sitting toward moving everything.
2182  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / We have Subforums! on: January 02, 2014, 07:07:25 AM
Be it the persistance of the community, or my own OCD that made me bug Theymos until we had some sort of organization system, we now have Subforums! Everyone be sure to thank Theymos (even if just in your head because he probably wouldn't be happy about recieving thousands of PMs)

We now have Announcements, which will be used for New Coin Announcements as well as Service announcements.

Mining, which will be for all things mining, technical help, etc.

and Marketplace which is for buying/selling things for Alt Coins.

The top level board that is just general "Alternate Currencies" which you are in now if you are reading this sticky, will be used for General Discussion, Fud, etc.

We thought it was impossible to get subforums, and we managed! If theres one thing to take away from this, its please don't ask for any more. We will make do with what we have and be damn happy!
(*future prediction here* within a few pages, we will have people asking for Giveaways section, and others*) NO

We will have to develop general guidelines for what sections to use for each senario, as well as , which is what will be posted in this thread when we have figured them out.

2183  Other / Meta / Re: Petition freeze avatars indefinitely on: January 02, 2014, 06:27:09 AM
I'm waiting on my hands for this new forum software Grin  Any second now.

Heh, I don't know about that. I don't think anyone knows what the timeline is, rather than it is in production currently.

Why would you want to freeze avatars? What happens when us early folk decide to change our avatars and cant?
2184  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 30 GHash 40 Watt Bitfury US Starter Kit on: January 02, 2014, 06:05:19 AM
New or old style?

Old style I believe, I'll have model specifics in the morning after I read the boards.
2185  Other / Meta / Re: VIP Member "goat" abusing trust rating system on: January 02, 2014, 05:45:30 AM
I dunno, as we all know, the Trust system is completely subjective. The best a person can do is post their information and link their sources, and its up for the reader to detirmine its validity.

For the record, I would trust Goat with my money, and find him to be a very trustworthy person. However I agree with not having you on the default trust list, not that its a vote anyway, tis Badbear's decision. Nothing personal, however some of your feedback ratings have been driven by personal fights you have had with people, and not whether or not they are financially or morally untrustworthy. You have helped to tag scammers and I do appreciate that, but the default trust list isn't about who is trustworthy, its about who can give fair feedback to establish a larger trust network.
2186  Other / Meta / Re: VIP Member "goat" abusing trust rating system on: January 02, 2014, 05:36:30 AM
Looks like I'm goat's latest victim.

No big deal, I owed him a negative trust rating in any case— him rating me just reminded me to put it in and removed the disincentive of wanting to avoid attracting his attention.

Why did you owe me a negative trust rating?

Pretty well detailed description in the feedback he left.

2187  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Simran's BTC-e USD codes to PayPal service! Fee lowered to 3% for New Years! on: January 02, 2014, 05:27:04 AM
Simran is the original vato.

I must have had traded with Simran in the past, however I don't recall any specific dates or things. I do know however that Simran has been doing the LTC/BTC-E Codes > Paypal for quite a while, as in at least a year if not years.
2188  Economy / Computer hardware / [Sold] 30 GHash 40 Watt Bitfury US Starter Kit on: January 02, 2014, 04:49:14 AM
Hey guys, I bought this pretty recently, but ended up getting a few Antminers as well, so this is taking up more space than I have to spare. The unit runs at around 30 Ghash (29-32) drawing around 40 watts of power, making it one of the most efficent small miners on the market, at nearly 5x higher efficency than ChiliMiners, its a good way to increase your hashrate no matter your electricity cost. The unit is modular, so you can plug in more Bitfury Boards for additional hashing power once you have the kit setup. The unit comes plug and play with a Raspberry Pi that is used to host the unit. I will input your pool info for you before I ship if you wish, and will host it for you for free if we close the deal after Postal Service hours, or on the weekend. I also have a new in box 350W Rosewill PSU if you need it to go with the unit, which should be sufficent for almost an entire upgrade setup.

I am located in the U.S however I can ship anywhere you wish, just be mindful of shipping charges and any import taxes that you may have to pay.

I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking to get for it, so please pm me or leave offers in the thread starting at 0.50 BTC. I do believe that the unit is worth more than 0.50, but rather than setting some inflated Ebay price, or basing it off of past sales, I'd rather see what the market values it at.

I'm willing to use escrow through JohnK (if he is around), TomatoCage, OGNasty, Kludge, or DannyHamilton (when he resumes escrowing) if you feel it necessary, but I ask that you pay the escrow fee.

2189  Other / Meta / Re: Dear Bitcointalk... on: January 02, 2014, 03:03:23 AM
There you have it us alt-coiners have no place in bitcointalk forums *screenshot, post to twitter*

You can try here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=67.0

but yes, essentially, this is Bitcointalk. Alt Coin conversation doesn't have full range here, they have full range on their own forums and limited accessibility here.
2190  Other / Meta / Re: Dear Bitcointalk... on: January 02, 2014, 02:33:55 AM
It's a bitcoin forum, we have no interest in making altcoin forums. Alt currencies board was made as an alternative to just deleting them. I'd be okay with just removing it, at this point it's just seeing who can spam the most giveaways or whatever in order to pump their coin.

This. There were no alt coins when the forums were created, so thats pretty good reason for not having the boards specific. It is a rather simple system though, this is a Bitcoin forum (Bitcointalk) the Altcoin section is as Badbear said, a place to place the altcoin topics so that they don't disrupt bitcoin conversation that isn't the trash can.

A very large portion of Bitcoin users don't like Alt Coins as it is, so having an Alt Coin section isn't a bad compromise. It would be preferable if we could get some general subforums in the Alt Coin section, however what we have is better than nothing.

The goal of alt coin section is to allow a bit of alt coin conversation as long as it stays in its own section. It is preferable that each coin establishes its own forums for full range.
2191  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monacoin? Is it scam? on: January 01, 2014, 07:25:45 PM
Moving this to alt currencies for you, you will probably get better support there.

You can also post in the thread, even though its in alt currencies and you are a new member, because it is your thread.
2192  Economy / Auctions / Re: KNC MINER 673 GH+ Auction 48 hour! on: January 01, 2014, 07:23:20 PM
I'll do BTC6.75 then :-) conditions will be the same as before

you are a few seconds too late heh. Anyway, curious to see if this is a scam, or if its a guy with no marketing skills. I'd guess the prior.
2193  Other / Meta / Re: Why no trust in meta? on: January 01, 2014, 05:36:56 PM
Do you think so? Why?
Do people think scammer never say anything right or worth something?

I personally always check why someone is negatively rated so after that it's easy to know whether you should listen to the guy depending on the context

I think there would be a lot of un needed chatter if trust was shown everywhere. It really only needs to be shown where transactions are taking place in my opinion. Sample senario

1) OP makes a poll to ask why there is no trust in Meta (OP has negative trust)

2) Someone responds

3) Fifteen others go off topic and start badgering the OP about their trust rating.

It would guess it would be similar in other sections too, but just imagine what it would be like somewhere like politics where people are debating. As soon as you get into an argument with someone, they throw the scammer flag.

In short, if you aren't doing business with them, it shouldn't matter. And like I said a few posts ago, if it actually is important that you know what their trust is, you can always just check their profile.

*Edit*

Do you think so? Why?

No. I always check also. But, it's noticeable. Dank for example when ever he is discussing outside of the lending forum people always mention the loan he owns. I don't think it's the issue with people not thinking the scammer has anything good to say it's whether they can trust them or not.

Exactly what I was going for.
2194  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] Asics on: January 01, 2014, 05:17:43 PM
Still evaluating options, I welcome additional offers.
2195  Other / Meta / Re: Why no trust in meta? on: January 01, 2014, 04:31:21 PM
That and if you care, you can always just open the user in question's profile in a new tab and check their trust from there.
2196  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! TO ALL CRYPTO COMMUNITY! /Give away included 50000000 IFC/ on: January 01, 2014, 07:42:05 AM
Mmmm.... I think you may have typed the giveaway number wrong? You do know that you are giving away $5000 USD worth of IFC right?
2197  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: CEX.IO How many ghs to mine 1 btc in 1 week? on: January 01, 2014, 07:04:44 AM
Just my two cents here, if you actually buy mining hardware, you can get around 1 GHash for 0.02 BTC or under fairly easily. Cex.io is more than double that currently, however, you are able to trade those Ghash instantly without shipping costs or having to find a buyer.

I used to think that their rates were ludacris, even including hosting, however it doesn't seem to be such a bad idea anymore. They should be able to pay off around 1/2+ of their cost per shares, and then assuming you can sell the shares for more than 1/2 of what you paid, you are golden.
2198  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling Spores(Legal) on: January 01, 2014, 07:01:56 AM
My dad is really into growing mushrooms, I think he would be pissed, and then get a laugh if I told him I bought him mushrooms for BTC.

Do you have any Oyster Spores?
