21841  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: ASIC USB Resurgence? on: December 23, 2017, 11:59:59 PM
Just curious what you guys have to think.

Do you see anyone putting out any new USB Asic miners? I would love to grab something that doesn't lose me money, even if I don't really profit. But people are trying to sell their USB miners for $50 each. It's ridiculous right now with the mining mania we're seeing.

Thanks!

the mainlander for script mining like ltc   have a state of the art chip.

it is the only sick that can  turn a profit at the moment

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-4QqZKMKWA

the best sha-256 is sidehacks 2pac and it can not realistically turn a profit.

I have both sticks.

2 moonlander 2's   these do 10 mh on medium clocks

1 two pac
3 compac

the sidekick sticks do 40gh on easy clocks

the 40 gh  earns 0.000161 btc a month or 2.68 usd  not counting power

the 2 moonlander 2's earn 0.04418 ltc or 0.000851 btc or 14.27 usd per month not counting power

2 moonlanders on a preorder = 135 usd at asicpuppy.com

2 two-pacs cost . maybe less like 100 or even less

they are way quieter then the delta's the deltas are 3800 to 5500 rpm  depends on which one.

Delta fans are known for "move gigantic amounts of air for years at a time", not for "quiet".

There's a reason some of their models are known as "screamers"....

I can't find the delta he says he has this is close

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIAAES6CK2798&cm_re=delta-_-9SIAAES6CK2798-_-ProductBrand: DELTA (Delta)

Model: AFB1212VHE
Size: 120 * 120 * 38MM
Voltage: 12V
Current: 0.90A
Power: 10.8W
Speed: 3200RPM
Airflow: 129.96CFM
Noise: 48DBA
Use of the environment: -20 ~ 75 °
Life span: 70,000 hours

but it is not as good scythe

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA9ZH3S91539&cm_re=scythe_ultra_kaze-_-1YF-0015-00008-_-Product

Mfr Part Number: DFS123812H-3000
•Features?Silent to Power User Ready?
4-Pin Peripheral Adopter Provided
•Speed: 3000 rpm
•Bearing Type: Sleeve Bearing
•Connector: 3pin
•MTBF: 30,000 Hours
•Noise: 45.90dBA
•Airflow: 133.60CFM
•Rated Voltage: 12V
•Rated Current: 0.60 A
•Dimensions: 120 x 120 x 38 mm•Weight: 225g

The above delta is more durable
Both cost the same.

but  the scythe  uses 7.2 watts vs 10.8 watts

a difference of 3.6 watts  x 3 fans = 10.8 watts less  over its life of 30000 hours that is 300 kwatts of power for 3 pieces or 30 dollars at 10 cents a kwatt.  33 dollars at 11 cents a kwatt.

this means  a push or close to a push in price.

and you move 401.4 cfm for the scythe
and only 389.88 cfm for the delta.

the delta are louder  by 3 db.

I use a quality ham radio supply to run  my scythe at 8.5 volts  and they still move enough air very quietly.

they are on sale at newegg  12.99  free shipping

can somebody tell me what wrong with my S9 miner?? Just run for one month. Can I fix it at home??? please help me
Looks like a board gave up. Try power cycle it, see if it comes back.
do you mean restart the miner???
Yes, unplug it, wait a couple of mins, plug it back again. Maybe save the kernel log if you haven't rebooted yet? Maybe the board comes back up? Kernel log after the reboot may tell you what is going on with that board. Also look at the red led in the board, when mine broke that led never turned on again.
The led still red, this is what my kernel log last show, anything helped??

21847  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: December 23, 2017, 06:57:11 AM

THE JAN ORDER may count as a 2018 sale for taxes so by shipping it now it still means they pay taxes for it  after 2018.

The dec order if shipped on Jan may count as a 2018 sale for taxes so they won't pay taxes until after 2018.

This is not really how corporate taxes work. Tax authorities does not really care which batch etc you name your product, invoice dates define which tax period you need to report it into.

It quite interesting though that they are so dynamic with their shipping time frames. As long as it is in the positive surprise territory it's all good Smiley

I have many years of accounting but only in the USA and it would not work for USA taxes.  As for Chinese laws and bitmain’s obligations I would be clueless as to their rules.

Those 3000 rpm fans Phil recommended finally came in.  I swapped out the ~1,600 rpm Thermaltake fans and it made all the difference.  Temps are now between 55 and 65 with the GPU fans staying at 50%.

Here are a couple of shots of the fully loaded Coloful rig:

And stats:

Also got all but 1 card in for the Onda rig.  I'm staggering Zotac 1070Ti Minis with 1070TI AMP!.

And stats:

This rig is running Delta fans with about the same specs at the fans Phil recommended (but more expensive).  Hope to have the 4th AMP! by Friday, but Christmas mail mayhem might delay it.

how are you able to hold the fans up ? , and as far as i know that ONDA board only has 2 free fan headers how do you connect 3 fans ?

he attached to the molex  look at the 2 photos i left

the scythe  ultra kaze  are the best choice as they pull  7 watts each so 3 are only 21 watts  to move 3 x 133 cfm = 400cfm
oh i see some kind of molex to those fan adapters , most fans come with one of those , what kind of screws are those ? do the come with the Kraze fans and how loud are they ?
I'm laready close to my limit on fan noise, I bought a few of those heavy CFM ones to cool my power supplies and they are too damn loud.

they are way quieter then the delta's the deltas are 3800 to 5500 rpm  depends on which one.

these are only 3000 rpm.  they are better then an avalon and you are talking about s-9 noise .

I use some scythe with 9 volts and they are nice. really nice at that voltage.

but at 12 volts they are still decent not quiet but decent.
21849  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Why all miners need to mine on a pool that pays them the tx fees. on: December 23, 2017, 03:52:30 AM
I looked at it more closely since the top six keep fees   but via.btc does  give back some of them at the monment.

So  the top five are a no go zero money sense to mine on them.

Viabtc is more complex.  they are  paying more then the block  but not all the fees to the miners.

but the top five simply can not be used.

Kano = okay
ck solo = okay
the other ck = okay
mmpool = okay

nicehash is a no go as the rentals could point to the top five.

I have to study this  but this is a different  50% attack

then block with-holding    it is fucking worse  really bad  truly  will kill btc  while the top pools make more profit doing it then not doing it.

A fix is very important  some say segwit  but I think not.

A simple  jump to 4,000,000 size  blocks would work for now.

or everyone   boycotts those top five.

21850  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BITMAIN announces Antpool on: December 23, 2017, 01:43:29 AM
hey  what the fuck are you doing at this pool?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2634505.0

study this math  and understand only mentally ill people that want to toss away their money should mine here.

We are witnessing an attack on the very fabric of BTC  via fee manipulation by ? I do not know whom but I have clearly laid out a method to attack BTC via fee manipulation  .

So  for just a week  mine at a smaller pool.

and read my thread.
21851  Bitcoin / Pools / Why all miners need to mine on a pool that pays them the tx fees. on: December 23, 2017, 12:23:48 AM
I was doing some math so here goes.

Tx fees are nuts 600 sats are  not high enough.

Block fees are 5 or 6 even 8 and 9 btc.

Simple math is a block can have about 1000000 in room and the smallest transaction is 250
That is 4000 transaction as a max.  Close estimate.

So. Big pools make 20% of the blocks and do not pay tx fees to miners they keep the fees.

So 20% of 144 is 29 blocks say that is 200 coins.

If they. Do 100000. Sends of 0.001 and pay 0.001. They are doing 1/3 of the networks capablity for  that day.

so 100,000  x 0.002 = 200

but ½ is fees and ½ comes back to them

so each day  they make 100 coins in fees  and they ensure the network stays clogged up.

Instead of losing money  doing 100,000  x  0.001  in tx fees  they make a profit.

So if you mine at antpool, btc.com, viabtc.com  or rent to nicehash  and don't do any sends the big pools can simply clog the network and make money doing it.

My math is solid  As I use one 20% pool  and we know there are more then one 20% pool.

Based on this I now mine at mmpool.org  as they pay the tx fees to the block hitter.

This is not speculation this is math founded in fact.

https://btc.com/

24 Hours Change   3 Days Lucky

1    BTC.com---------2506.00  PH/s
2    AntPool----------2417.21  PH/s
3    BTC.TOP---------2111.00  PH/s
4    SlushPool--------1537.66  PH/s
5    ViaBTC-----------1522.87  PH/s
6    F2Pool-----------1112.35  PH/s

so if the top 3 do what I say

there is a big time issue for all of us.

https://btc.com/stats/diff

13400 ph is the current hashrate.

Antpool and btc.com are the same company  that is 4900 of 13400

or 36.56%

lets break it down again using top 2 pools

36.56 x 144 daily blocks = 52.6 blocks a day  with fees of  7 coins  = 368.2 coins

150,000  sends of 0.001 + 0.001 tx fee = 300 coins  since  you are doing sends of 0.001  you get ½ back or 150 coins  and you spend 150 coins.

Since you collect 368 coins   you  net  218 coins for your 52.6 blocks which is a sweet 4.14 coins in fees.

since the max transactions in a day is  only 4000 x 144 = 560,000   and that is based on  227kb sends    which are only some.

we do around

https://blockchain.info/stats

370,000 transactions a day.

if antpool and btc.com  are taking 150,000 a day  in the way I say  the other transaction will be costly.

Lets make this more clear.

top 3 pools  get in on this

this comes to 7000 /13400 hash =  52.2 %

lets say they do  220,000  sends of 0.001 + 0.001 tx fee

they would be taking 220,000 of 370,000 sends   which is 59.4%  of the sends

since 52.2% x 144 = 75.168 block  with fees of 7 coins  it is 526 coins in fees  collected  by the 3 of them combined

since 220,000 x 0.001 = 220 coins  paid  they gain  306 coins  by doing this as a team of 3 pools

this is not block with holding  it is fee manipulation  .

My math is dead solid  factual  no speculation here.

To combat this  all miners need to mine on fee sharing pools.  and stop mining on pools that keep fees.

The math above shows the top 3 pools  will not stop doing this  since it makes them a shit ton of extra money.

So all you big guys  leave those pools . Mine on pools that share the fees.

check these charts

the math shows  this to be the reason.

dec 1-10 and 21-30 shipped at same time to me

yes I did it came on weds  the 20th

but my dec 21st - dec 31st  is yet to ship>

annoying  and until they ship the dec 21 -31 .

I won't know if  I am ahead time wise.

Getting the Jan 21 -31  on Dec 20  is about 43 or 44 days ahead of time.

But if they hold the  Dec 21 - 31  for a long time  I lose that  44 days.
When did you order the Jan 21-31 batch? My order hasn't shipped shipped yet and I ordered rather early.

as I said  it is no big deal as they did not ship my dec 21 -31 batch.

I am not really ahead.

I suspect they shipped the Jan batch in my case because I had a dec order.
So on my end it is a push so far  (unless they ship the Dec order very soon )

On their end It as is a Jan date maybe it is a tax benefit for them.

FOLLOW MY LOGIC :

THE JAN ORDER may count as a 2018 sale for taxes so by shipping it now it still means they pay taxes for it  after 2018.

The dec order if shipped on Jan may count as a 2018 sale for taxes so they won't pay taxes until after 2018.

On my end I get one order really early and one order like a week late.  so if you gain 44 days and lose 7  you gain over 35 days.

In your case if you only have that Jan 21-31 order  they don't get to manipulate taxes in their favor so they just send it the  correct time.

I also ordered I lot of them since sept 1st 2017 so they may have pushed this out quickly.

Still I am not ahead until I get the dec 21-31 shipped.  I think if my logic is correct it will ship on Jan 2 or 3

that's a wonderful rig, i think maybe the radiators should be at the other side, cards are designed to exhaust some heat at their rear not in their front...if temps are okay no worries then.

the best way to mount them is the way I did but  I could do the fans as push or pull.

this is a major problem  and it is obviously going to hurt BTC

I consider it a hostile takeover attempt to force oldschool btc out.

basically caused by the refusal to simply have moved transactions  block from 1,000,000 to 2,000,000

at the ½ ing last year

the tech has the ability to

go to 32,000,000 a block
