Just a though, shouldn't this be in the services of the altcoin section, since this campaign is not paying in btc but in altcoins.
The bonus will be paid in BTC. Plus, the NXC coin is tradable on exchanges so it's very easy to convert to BTC. I don't see any rules that restrict posts like these. If there are, I will definitely move it accordingly/revise the campaign! |

Did Maxwell and others openly state just hours after they signed it "We dont care." Yes.

A few contributors to Bitcoin Core went to that meeting as individuals, thinking it was a good idea. They all signed it as individuals. Gmaxwell was not even part of them and criticized the agreement right after it was public. FYI: F2Pool broke it by mining a Bitcoin Classic block, thus the agreement was void at that point. Finally, something who is using their brain! Kind of disappointing how many pages I had to read through to find a decent post though..

I wouldn't call it Bitmain-fiasco. I would call it: "Ignoring the necessity of scaling for 3 years fiasco."
Until this day you have peeps like LunaticLuke that say openly that the high fees are good and the blocksize should be shrunk to 0.5MB.
Also we had a solution early 2016, remember? The miners and some core devs agreed for 2MB+SW. What happend? Core just openly gave a fuck about that agreement. Seriously, to blame just one side is rather biased.

Yup. You can pretty much time it to the minute.
If it had passed then alts would've cratered at least temporarily, and this bubble wouldn't have existed. Bitcoin would've stepped up to a level of legitimacy that none of them could've matched.

If you lose money (eg your principal and interest are not repaid) via lending on an exchange such as Poloniex, then you will probably not want to continue lending out your money, even if you lose a small portion of what you lent.
If it is known that a small percentage of lenders end up loosing money via making loans on Poloniex, then others will hesitate to lend because the EV of making a loan may be unknown and/or negative.
Poloniex does make some money from loans that it's customers make via lending fees, however the *real* way that Poloniex makes money via loans made on it's platform is the increased liquidity that lending provides, which attracts users who want to take on large positions to their platform, which both generates trading fees and adds further liquidity to their platform even if they do not use margin.
For the above reasons, I think that it would be likely for poloniex to step in and cover losses when a borrower's account has negative equity (eg., they cannot fully repay their loans) in order to maintain confidence in their lending markets. They may not be able to do this if there are very large lending related losses.
I agree with the last statement. However, AFAIK, they don't currently do anything like that. I'm confused as to what will happen if a margin trader could not liquidate in time - I feel like poloniex wouldn't even notify the lender if they lose some of their principal. |
