221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Privacy Coins. Whos best? on: September 13, 2017, 08:57:49 PM
Hi all,

I need some help, what coin to invest in.
I ould like a privacy coin like Monero but not so well known yet and not over 6$.

Can anyone help me with this? Is there a list somewhere I could look and read about all the privacy coins out there?

Thanks for the help.

You could take a look at this thread that was only a few pages back:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2157374.0

That might give you some ideas of what you're looking for.

This thread is probably going to be the most helpful in finding what you're looking for:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=615953.0

It was updated as of 9/8/2017 so it looks like it stays pretty current.
223  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ⚡ [ANN] ⚡ DeepOnion TOR Integrated ⚡ No ICO 🚀 FREE Airdrops 🚀 9th of 40 Rounds on: September 13, 2017, 06:51:38 PM
Posting in other forums than here and offtopic is better imo, as the signature is of course to let others know about htis project an join in. The more the better. That goes for all new projects.

The end-convincing is the tech and surelynthe high members support and involvement.

I agree that it's good to get the word out elsewhere in the forum to make more people aware.

That being said, it's not a good idea to post too much in off-topic as it's been mentioned in this thread and the rules. If you do it too much, it can get you kicked out of the airdrop.
224  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: NEWBIE TIPS on: September 13, 2017, 04:40:30 PM
Most of what you're looking for can already be found using the search function.

At any rate, this post does a good job explaining the forum ranking system: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178608.0

Hope that helps.
225  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are the best Coins this year ? on: September 13, 2017, 12:45:50 PM
Well, you can tell I'm biased by my signature, but I really do like DeepOnion.

It's a unique coin with great features and the community support is amazing. A new exchange will be added soon and I doubt we'll ever see it as low as it is now again.

If you're interested, you can follow the links in my sig to get more information.
226  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ⚡ [ANN] ⚡ DeepOnion TOR Integrated ⚡ No ICO 🚀 FREE Airdrops 🚀 9th of 40 Rounds on: September 12, 2017, 07:51:37 PM
I'm shure this question got asked already but to search the answer would just be awful; how MANY devs are there? How much did the team grow from the launch until now and are they going to expand in the future?

From the FAQ on the forum:

5. Who is in the DeepOnion team?
The Dev team is composed of 4 professionals in software development, SEM marketing, big-data and cloud computing, branding/marketing, and blockchain expertise. These core team members are dedicated and experts within their respective fields.

As for the other questions, I'd head over to www.deeponion.org - it's got more information in an easier to find format than this thread.

Hope that helps.
227  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: what is ICO and why every day new coin is there on: September 12, 2017, 06:44:32 PM
Well, Google is definitely your friend, but an ICO is an initial coin offering. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Initial_coin_offering

Basically, if you get in an support the coin early by buying it - you tend to get it at a cheaper price. If the coin does well - you do well. If the coin dies - well, you've lost your money.

It differs from an airdrop in which the coins are freely distributed.

At the end of the day, it's just a way to raise money so that the coin can further it's development, get added to exchanges, etc. People are coming out with new coins with new features all the time, so there are a ton of them out there. The main thing to do if you're interested in getting involved is to do the research before investing.

Hope that helps.
228  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Orders of currency pairs on exchanges? on: September 12, 2017, 02:14:06 PM
Hmm, I think you're just reading it backwards unless the exchange you're using has made an error.

As far as your question, the rate varies a bit depending on the exchange you're using, but for the most part, it's going to be pretty uniform. Otherwise, people would exploit that pretty quickly by buying on one exchange and flipping it on another.
229  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Asking youre income on: September 12, 2017, 01:26:49 PM
Well, if you really want to know, my monthly income is about 1 BTC- but that's for my regular job which I get paid for in USD.

As far as income from crypto - that varies and isn't nearly as much.

I will say, though, that it has increased by quite a bit since I started taking part in the DeepOnion airdrop. As you can see by my signature, I'm quite biased, but I really do believe in the community and technology. It's definitely worth checking out.

I'd love it if my regular job paid in BTC, but I don't think that's going to happen. In the meantime, I'll just keep plugging away with the little investments here and there that I can make.
230  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is Airdrop? on: September 12, 2017, 12:23:38 PM
Airdrop is a new model of coin distribution among users. There are different rules for each airdrop. But main thing is that users receive coins for free or for meeting some requirements defined by developers

I'm looking into your rank and trying to understand - how come you have Member status and I'm not. My acc is older than yours, and I have enough posts to rank up.

You can only get 14 points for every two weeks, I believe. So, you'll have to wait a bit while your activity points catch up with your post count.

As far as airdrops, as the others have already mentioned, it is a coin that is freely distributed as to an ICO where you have to buy the coin/token.

Some recent examples would be Minereum or DeepOnion.

There do tend to be some limitations - such as rank or account creation date - but they're a great way to build up your portfolio.

If you can't participate in one, though, you can always head to the exchange to stock up early. For instance, your rank won't let you take part in the DeepOnion airdrop, but it's still an early coin and it's a great time to get involved. You can also check out the website at www.deeponion.org to keep an eye out for bounties and other free giveaways.
231  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Too simplistic an approach? on: September 11, 2017, 03:33:04 PM
I don't think it's a bad approach, per se, but I'd really lock down the specifics.

You should have a number in mind that you'd like to hit. Instead of ' unless either/both increase very significantly in the interim' - have a percent increase you'd like to see or a number in mind.

The same idea is true for when you hit 2022. If you don't have a goal ahead of time, you'll just be second guessing yourself later.

And, if you can, I'd keep holding past 2022 - maybe then you could take some profits and diversify, but I wouldn't take it all out if it's given you a really good return.

Just my two cents.
232  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best airdrop you ever got (or didnt get) on: September 08, 2017, 05:17:48 PM
Initially I would have said the Minereum airdrop; which I lucked out getting into (right place at the right time). It's certainly down from its all time high of around $12 or so, but it's still nice to have a genesis account.

Nowadays, though, I'm going to have to jump on the Onion bandwagon (as you can see by my sig). Yes, I'm biased, but I can confirm that the airdrop is the real deal and I'm loading up every week by following a few simple rules. The community support is huge and I believe it has some unique features that offer real value. I'm excited to see where it goes once the drop is complete.
233  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Unlimited 4G LTE Data Smartphone/Hotspot Forever- It's.....Magicphone! on: September 08, 2017, 11:41:20 AM
I've kept my eye on this service for a while. Has anyone been able to get ahold of magicphone? If I can get some money soon I'd like to purchase a phone but it looks like he's unreachable at this point.

Just as a disclaimer, I have not bought from either of these gentlemen, but it looks like you might have a better result if you buy off of GoodLuckChuck: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1929163.0
or Madrinos: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2035002.0

I do have one of these phones that I obtained through other methods and I can confirm that it does work and that it is still up and running like a charm.
234  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is DeepOnion a good altcoin? on: September 07, 2017, 08:28:55 PM
Hello everyone, I read about a new altcoin called DeepOnion, I want to invest some dollars in 2 or 3 altcoins, do you think this coin is a good investment? Im looking for a coin to hold for a couple of years, maybe 5. Comment your opinion about this coins or any other promising altcoin, thanks!

Well, you can certainly see by my signature that I'm biased.

That being said, I've been around a little while and DeepOnion has exploded on the scene with more force than I've seen in a while. The community is growing daily and I think it does offer some real value as far as the features that it offers.

You'll find both sides of the discussion on here - but the best thing you can do is read through the forums and research it yourself. Then you can feel comfortable that you're making the best decision with your money.
235  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BEST NEWCOMER COIN IN THE LAST FEW MONTHS!! CAST YOUR VOTE!! on: September 07, 2017, 12:46:01 PM
As you can guess by my signature, I threw my vote behind DeepOnion as well.

I know people might be getting annoyed at the level of promotion it's getting - but IMHO it just shows the Devs have thought this out pretty well. You can have the greatest coin in the world but if no one knows about it - what's the point? I think DeepOnion actually brings some pretty unique features to the table and thus there's some real substance behind all the hype.

Regardless, I appreciate the poll and I'll have to check out some of the other coins to diversify my holdings.
236  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: $10k US to invest, portfolio advice? on: September 06, 2017, 06:33:23 PM
I would tend to agree on keeping about half in bitcoin, maybe another quarter in ethereum and then spread the remaining quarter around a few different altcoins.

As far as which altcoins, I have a few Ripple (XRP), Minereum (MNE), and I'm stocking up on DeepOnion at the moment (see my signature).

237  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: UK newbie looking for guidance on: September 05, 2017, 06:24:08 PM
Hi ikilledcobain

Firstly I hope you didn't  Wink big Nirvana fan

Thanks for your reply and it is definitely a start for me.
So if I've understood thier fees page correctly. I'm looking at losing £5 to deposit cash into the account and then a further £10 when withdrawing. Ie need to make some decent gains through trading to make it worthwhile.

So next question, are these fees pretty standard or do some sites have significantly lower fees. Also is transferring Bitcoin to a wallet classed as withdrawal?
Or is withdrawal purely for currency back to your bank account.

Thanks again

No problem.

Nah, I didn't actually - I think that was Courtney, lol.

Yeah, now that you mention it, those fees are pretty high - I didn't take a close look at them. Most places charge a percentage instead of a flat fee.

You might want to check out a few other places and look at their fee schedule. Here's another one for comparison: https://www.bitstamp.net/fee_schedule/

Generally speaking, yes, transferring to a wallet is considered a withdrawal.

There are other options for buying bitcoin with lower fees, but they can be a little riskier than sending to a verified business. Paxful.com is one such place where you can send Paypal or gift cards and get Bitcoin in return - if you go that route, though, I'd recommend finding someone with lots of feedback and that has a reasonable trade rate.
238  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: UK newbie looking for guidance on: September 05, 2017, 04:22:25 PM
Hi All

New to the forum so please go easy on me.
I've done a fair bit of reading and watching youtube vids etc, but the more I read the more confused I get.
So just looking for a recommendation for my situation.

Live in the UK and wish to purchase around £100 of Bitcoin/Litecoin to get me going
Do I download a 'hotwallet' to my android phone (Electrum?) - To save my Bitcoin/Litecoin
And then do I register with coinfloor - To Buy my Bitcoin/Litecoin

Finally I keep reading about fee's. Where do the Fee's come in?
Coinfloor states there are no Fee's...??  Huh

Am I on the right track?

Thanks for any help and recommendations.

I'll try to help as best I can.

I'm not familiar with Coinfloor, but it looks to be an exchange. While they may not be charging you transaction fees, it looks like you'd be losing about 3 pounds to buy the Btc. Not too bad, really. It looks to be a 3% fee. You might find better, but I don't have any recommendations.

You can hold your Btc in the exchange, but most people prefer to send it to their wallet - which is where things such as Electrum come in. I only tend to keep Btc in an exchange when I'm looking to buy/sell/ or trade.

Although they say, no fees, it's a bit of a misnomer. You can see their actual fees here: https://coinfloor.co.uk/fees

Some things are 'free' but there's always going to be fees for withdrawing/transferring.

Hope that helps some.
239  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ⚡ [ANN] ⚡ DeepOnion TOR Integrated ⚡ No ICO 🚀 FREE Airdrops 🚀 8th of 40 Rounds on: September 05, 2017, 02:25:41 PM
Besides that web wallets are unsafe, why dont you just use the web wallet of an exchange like novaexchange?

It's not a good idea to keep all your money in an exchange wallet. Things can happen - better to just keep what you plan on trading/selling and then moving it back to your normal wallet when you're done.

On another note, I may or may not be in the path of Irma as well - who knows at this point - but as long as I have cell coverage of some sort, I'll continue posting.
240  Economy / Economics / Re: Maybe governments can stop bitcoin after all on: September 05, 2017, 01:33:52 PM
I think that the governments can put pressure on bitcoin and other crypto's, but it's too late to stuff the genie back in the bottle.

People are losing faith in their governments, and thus fiat, and need something to put their money in to try and preserve wealth. Precious metals are an age old safe haven, but they're not nearly as practical as crypto when it comes to trade.

The crackdowns may slow bitcoin down, but people will just find other, more secure/anonymous coins to preserve their privacy. See my signature for one upcoming example - Deep Onion.
