With the asic stats out, are you taking orders for those?
I believe he stated earlier that he can't be completely sure until he has an asic device to test his cables on.

225  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Consolidated Litecoin Mining Guide for 5xxx, 6xxx, and 7xxx GPUs on: October 13, 2012, 06:13:42 AM
ya man... reaper ALONE uses 2.8 gigs for 2x 7950's.

go order a 2x4gb ram set and you'll be set

cgminer on two 7770's uses about 50mb... so ya.. its something about reaper that just requires a bit of ram.

once you get it working fine though... you'll get a nice hash rate.. i'm getting 1220khash from my 2x 7950 system.

Yes, I am totally aware of what I would need to do in order to turn these particular rigs into efficient litecoin mining rigs. Today I just basically ran a test to see if I was ready to make the switch whenever my other doomsday devices arrive and render these puppies useless for bitcoin mining. I know exactly what I need to do and will adjust accordingly. Thank you for all of y'alls help. Much appreciated Smiley

I just tried to mine with my 3x 7950 rig for the first time. I used reaper and could only get it to give about 820 Kh total. I had to use 6144 thread concurrency because the whole system only has 2 gigs of memory. I have a single 7970 in a rig and I couldn't even get it to work, maybe because it only has 1 gig in it. Not too happy about the results with all of my 79xx series cards. I have 3x 5850s that I have been able to get more than 800 Kh. Oh well Undecided

With only a few asics you would Make a major part of the generated bitcoins. New everyone becomes insanely rich?

Still a misconception. Don't forget about difficulty and reward halving. Price is also another variable.

Actually, is the size of the first batch that important? It's not like you can change whether you're in it or not, at this point. And if you didn't order in the first month, I can almost guarantee you won't get a first batch shipment.

I guess too bad for those people huh? Nothing I have to worry about. Wink

I'm also glad to hear that they are not trying to produce the first boards directly at BFL headquarters. I could only imagine the panic that they would be going through trying to push the massive first order out to impatient customers. So basically in the beginning they will receive the boards and cases and have to assemble and test. I think they chose the correct route. Let someone more experienced produce the products from their prototyped designs, and replicate that same process in-house for years to come. The million dollar question is of course - "How many finished boards did they order?". Either way it was awesome to get such a detailed update. Grin

@Crazyates

Can you give an approximate order number?

Why would something that's supposed to warm coffee need a fan? Wink
233  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Someone want to split a BFL SC single? on: October 11, 2012, 05:39:10 AM
Why not just sell the regular single - I'm sure you could find someone to buy it.

MrTeal are you still interested in a Jalepeno from first BFL Shipment?

I would be surprised to see any REAL amount of asic devices hit the streets before Thanksgiving.

You are completely right. He never came back and said ish when both my deals went thru flawlessly. Just sayin'
237  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Difficulty drop on: October 10, 2012, 04:27:23 AM
Definitely agree with most of you. Have to reinvest a significant amount to keep reaping benefits. I have to do it piece by piece, but I continue to add until I notice I have surpassed my goals. What I like about the reward halving is the fact that I know I have 4 years till I have to worry about it again. Therefore I will probably try and accumulate as much hardware as I can over the next 12 to 18 months(depending upon the performance increase on next generation products). After that I hope I can slow down on purchasing and use what I've accumulated for the remainder of the reward period(pretty much between 2.5 and 3 years).

This is a great thread! I was so afraid I would have to spend days trying to find the perfect settings for my 7950s. Thank you for the ease of mind. Grin

And you watch while the difficulty skyrockets, while the price remains the same.

The same could have been said about bitcoin for the about the first half of it's existence Wink
