221  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin events calendar on: March 12, 2017, 04:50:23 AM
Hi, guys.

I searched the forum but I couldn't find a thread where I could discuss events that change Bitcoin rates.

Here's the calendar I created, I plan on updating it on a regular basis, you are more than welcome to contribute to it too.

Week: 6/03/2017 - 12/03/2017

No events.

Week: 13/03/2017 - 19/03/2017

Event Name
Date
Winklevoss Bitcoin Trust ETF13/03/2017

Which event you are referring to over here ?

SEC ruling to [not] allow the two twins from the Facebook movie to open an Exchange in the USA.

March 15, 2017 is another day to watch because that's when the major exchanges in China will need to be in compliance with Chinese regulations that nobody knows exists until they visit the exchanges.  However, it seems positive on that front.  They're looking for anti-money-laundering practices and such.  We may see some sells that day though from large asset-holders.

This next week is going to be an interesting one for BTC.

Why don't you use Coinbase?

Jaja.

I've put an old metal trunk near the outflow and some rocks I found in Guatemala near the exhausts of the S9s to help radiate the heat.  It's nice ... reminds me of my heating in Maastricht, NL, during study abroad.  I have not had to use my 1500W heater at all.  It's great :fire:

BTC.COM (also Bitmain owned) is 0% fee and pays transaction fees.  They call it "subsidy."  No guarantee how long it will last.  Plus it's PPS.

That sounds like the best payout/lowest risk pool out there.  I'm on Kano.  I may point my new S9 to BTC.com, but I really prefer to stay outside the Great Firewall.

That's my thinking.  There is no other pool I know of the has 0 fee for PPS.  And getting the fees on top of that is real nice.

EDIT - And they are merge mining Namecoin too.
be VERY careful with PPS pools that dont take a fee.. they will eventually go broke and stop paying out. it only takes a couple of long blocks before the pps outweighs the block rewards.

I moved to BTC.com and I think they may skim some hash, but I got my first payment okay.

backed up transactions hit 68000

https://blockchain.info/unconfirmed-transactions

https://btc.com/stats/unconfirmed-tx

Have been waiting 12 hours for one confirmation

I have raised my fees, but once waited 5 days before finally using a website to advance it.  Even at 0.0003350 per tx fee, it's taking about an hour.

Hello Friends

Can somebody help me understand how the pool work, i was mining in Antpol for 6 month and everyday i get my reward at same time, i  moved my hashpower over 100 th/s to Kano because everybody its talking about the excellence of mining here but, today i just received 0.040 BTC for 2 days of minig, why?

Please excuse my ignorance but i want to understand what happened and what to expect why we don't  get the same reward daily and why we don't get paid daily

thanks for your help

Payments are included in the next block found, after 101 confirmations.

How is that possible?  Maybe the higher S9 prices? This PPLNS is good when it's good, but not steady ... been 48 hours.

Thanks for your tips!

Then came:

(Also vouch for them. They have a personal domain which i dont remember, but send a thank you note wih url attached upon delivery of pruduct)
Get an attachable tube from a hardware store and dump the hot air out a window if possible.

I don't have to worry about temps as I am in Montana in a basement. However, these are luckily placed in an area with an extra vent (currently plugged) to the outside if needed.

One last thing is the duct will cause a rise in temps. A buddy of mine, who gets a kick out of the nature of bitcoin surprised me with a good air blower to help with my cooling issues. (i would say this could cool two units if placed right and need be)
Good up to 105°F:

In line fans ... I grow peppers indoors, hydroponically, and when you get into HPS systems the lighting has similar issues.  You need lots of ventilation.  After my various years growing indoors, I have learned to get a grow tent for keeping the temps in the 68 - 82 range year.  People either use the duct fans or a squirrel cage fan.  The squirrel cage is quieter, similar to the R4.  I bet some of the knowledge is transferable.  Like you said, you don't want to the duct work slowing down the flow - not only heat, but static.

Not going to retyped it all again so ref https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1769399.msg17968291#msg17968291
Done that way each cable is protected plus easier to wire and fuses cost less.
I hope I got it right sir. Is this what I should do for my S9? Put a 35a fuse inline with the positive 3wires going to the Hashboard?
How about the controller? Do I need to fuse it also?

Only thing I would change is the fuse size. For a s9 take it down to 20-25A per cable.
Again, to save typing, ref https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1769399.msg18004006#msg18004006

What does this solve that a high quality PSU doesn't?
233  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: I need quiet in my house! Sound control techniques for S9 miners? on: February 28, 2017, 02:06:17 AM
Active noise cancellation.  Right now you can get yourself some noise-cancelling headphones that work quite well.

That is a great idea and would be a nice break every-now-and-again!

I ended up buying some of this; it's supposed to stop sound: http://www.nextacoustics.com/2-inch-soundtrax-acoustical-foam/

From the site:

[These] offer absorption in the mid and high frequency range, but all that exposed area on each panel helps with refraction of sound as well. A little of this treatment will go a long way to cleaning up your sound issues.

We'll see ...  Undecided

By this reasoning, a metals broker must hold fiat cash reserves to equal his client's vault holdings.
And an automobile dealership the same level of cash as cars. I could understand a need for insurance, but not an equal amount.  Perhaps prior to the gold standard they would have had an argument.

This is targeted. ... I have to talk with CEX and find out if they have a similar issue with Hawaii...

You would probably have a case, as would Coinbase. I am sure they are trying to get a stronger foothold before challenging government.

Hawaii is the ONLY state requiring a reserve.

Wyoming does as well.

Anyway...time to start burning up the speed dial on my state reps (I have personal contacts with nearly all of them).

 Roll Eyes

Always a good idea.

Howdy all,

This is a common problem without common solutions.  These S9s are crazy loud and I only have one with another to start on Wednesday!

The only way to make a profit, which is ultimately how you sustain the BTC network, is to run the most efficient machines.  I currently run an S9-13.5 TH/s and the sound is driving me bonkers!

What are some ways to keep muffle the sound?

I've thought about sound control room dividers, acoustic absorption panels and building a little server room type box with an in/out that may be quieter.  I only have two ... maybe three in the future.

How do you quiet the noise from traveling like a train throughout the house?

Thanks.

Given their explanation of the law, I assume others will soon follow suit. I can't imagine too many exchanges will want to have physical currency deposited in Hawaii to match every Hawaiian customer's coinage.  Undecided

They wrote it was their interpretation of a law.  This usually means people who not elected, but work in government, spent time and came to a conclusion. The blog post, when on to state, "... Coinbase is currently licensed to engage in money transmission in thirty-eight U.S. jurisdictions ..."

Once you are given something, it is generally very difficult to take back.

Coinbase just advised me that they can no longer do business in Hawaii, due to regulatory changes just promulgated by the state's governing body.

Wow.  That's interesting.  If it only goes from GB to PP how does the State of Hawai'i have control?  Is it tied to your phone carrier, ISP?  What if you open an account on the mainland? What if you leave the islands for NYC on vacation? ...

Russia is and always will be an enemy a rival of America.

Let's put it this way, they never engaged or been at war with each other, they're both super-powers trying to keep their political spheres.
I wouldn't call Russia a superpower. It's a big territory, but absolutely retarded on the economy of the country. The budget of almost any state in the United States more than the entire budget of Russia. Another thing is that Russia saves money on social needs of the population and sends them to the defense industry. Russia does big media invests in the creation of the image of a superpower. In fact it is not.

I have Russian friends.  They are great people.  It is terrible that they must live under Putin.

They were the first in space, still have a space program(!), recently developed a stealth fighter, have caused power disruptions to much of the old eastern block like Estonia, interfered with foreign elections, hacked the US's DNC, currently have the largest group of active hack-robbers, taken land from a severn nation and not changed President in nearly 20 years.

I would not underestimate Russia nor their influence to disrupt the world order to create a "post-West" society.
240  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Bitminter bitcoin mining pool - Pays TxFees, Merged Mining, Fair PPLNS rewards on: February 27, 2017, 09:29:39 PM
Weak. Back when I mined, we were real men -- even the women -- and we had balls of steel. A little variance? Pffft.

Unfortunately, I am getting to the party a little late. I wish I would've joined sooner and now have more than $5000 invested. It's the only way to make it sustainable - a little profit.

Why did you stop mining?
