wow Mintpal breached, didnt see that coming.. its even more important now to just keep a minimum amount of cryptocurrency
on exchanges.

note : they are only breached for Vericoin for which they compensate by hardforking the coin to pre-assault state

That hardfork is going to be a challenge and even if they succeed it sets a really bad precedent.

I agree, Mintpal by their own admission got hacked, Mintpal should foot the bill. (And people should learn not to use exchanges as banks.)

I wonder how Mangled Blue's hangover is progressing?

MasterNodes suck.

This is scamcoin.

Nice try slapper.  Grin

I have some time to run counter-FUD. Would you rather newcomers read nothing but FUDgepacker drivel here?

Why did it have to be 20%? That just feels excessive. People will run masternodes for less

Ah come on.. in the same way you can say people would mine for less. And in fairness, nothing would happen with 50:50 share - the number of miners would decrease and so the difficulty would decrease as well.

Based on the MN payments I decided to invest about 4000 euro into 500 darkcoins I needed to get the MN.
80:20 seems fair to me and if you think MN are paying too much... well - get one.

Giving free coins, this is what masternodes really do is a very bad things for a crypto. We had 'premine', ,and now a 'postmine' equivalent concept. Masternode are nothing related to anonymity, and is not a good POS implementation, and so the word 'progres' is absurd here.

Masternodes provide the anonymity.

tor provide anonymity at IP level; and a p2pool with a lot of miners gives the same results without any issue, we can't say where the mix is from. But masternode concept is more than buggy...

Darksend via Masternodes beats tor to a bloody pulp in both anonymity and ease of use, not to mention speed. p2pool has nothing to do with anything under discussion, I don't think you know how this stuff works. And we're all waiting for someone to point out any bugs in the concept, if and when that happens, they'll get fixed.

Proven, actual, working anonymity, which is about to get a whole lot better too, with pre-anonymised coins for everyone to spend, in RC4.

Funny isn't it, these dunces are complaining about an investment opportunity that just pays too damn much!

Can you imagine this supposed outrage the other way around?

I have invested $10000 in masternodes to make this coin anonymous and some bustard miner comes along with his poxy $100 GPU and STEALS 80% of my profits! AAAAgghhhrrrrrrr! gnash froth gnash

 Grin

Miners and masternodes are both necessary for the function of Darkcoin, and the risk/reward numbers are actually pretty close in terms of investment needed for either.

I have certainly the badest internet latency, 300 to 600 ms from my MN to the rest of the world.
16 votes, 4 no fees and 2 at 0.5.

Where is your MN / hosting? That's dial-up latency. Still, you're getting votes and payments, so it still works. Smiley

Earn your own DRK coins by mining at the multipool. Not only that, you can earn DRK using your old ASIC hardware on SHA256 and SCRYPT coins!

DarkCoin by xpool - DRK Multipool

PROP reward system
DRK Payouts
Scrypt & SHA256 & X11 Algo's
DDoS Protected
High Performance Backend
Simple setup and usage
0% Fees while in BETA
To mine:

How does it work?

xpool offers 3 different sets of coins to mine. SHA256, Scrypt and X11. Each algorithm runs on a shift. Currently there is no set interval as there needs to be enough found and confirmed blocks to make trading worthwhile on the exchanges. We don't want to finish a shift only to find out, the exchanges are going to eat up the payout in fees or limit the withdraw with a large minimum. The confirmed coins are traded throughout the duration of the shift automatically to maximize the profits from exchanging them into DRK. Once enough confirmed blocked are accumulated, the shift is moved into "Trading" status while all the exchanged coins are calculated into DRK and then queued for payment. Once all the coins are confirmed as successfully traded and exchanged, the DRK payments are sent.

As the pool picks up more hashing speed and sufficient DRK can be picked up from the exchanges, the shifts will be set to a schedule and payouts more frequent and less worry about the exchanges. This is a growing phase so the more hash support the better.
If a DRK block is found, there's no exchanging or loss of fees as it can simply be moved into the X11 payout queue.

The advantage of the pool is that you can utilize your older ASIC equipment to earn you the more desired DarkCoin.
Cheers and Happy Hashing!

Donations welcome!
!

30.4431 DRK just sent out to X11 miners for the recent shift.

Thanks and enjoy!

crackfoo do you have any stats for DRK/TH on sha256?

I appreciate it will vary, just looking for ball park figures as I can acquire 1TH/s for £400 or ~100DRK currently.

Could p2pool mining be built into the wallet? I mean, one-click your-own-node-setup-and-mine?

Solo mining is unlikely to get you anything unless you're very lucky but a bit of CPU on p2pool WILL get you a little at least.

edit: US masternodes having some sort of advantage is utter bollocks. Two of my 4.6 (US based) are 'underperforming' but the dataset is still far too small to draw any meaningful conclusions and the payment code is open source anyway AFAIK.

further nonsense

What part of, 'all the exchanges will reject coins mined on the wrong fork, so they will be worthless' is not clear to you?

foaming madness

Yes, yes, and yes.  However, I removed nicehash.com, because they aren't actually a classic mining pool at all, and certainly don't run a DRK daemon themselves.

Everything else you said should be repeated over and over...

The mastermind that thinks he can insert random garbage into a blockchain and get paid valid coins out the other end agrees with you shojaxt! You have found your first disciple!

Actually according to the page it's "merge-minded", whatever that is.

Where is whatever ?

Click the original link and read it.  Hit ctrl-f and look for "minded" if you want.

" A secondary cryptocurrency by nature, Umbrella is designed to be merge-minded alongside each algorithms corresponding industry leader. "

They are clearly telepathic parasites hoping to steal Evan's genius from afar.

Noob Question

Will I receive all my back pay from my Master Node once my computer/wallet has been turned back on after being powered off for a week or so? Logic tells me "yes", but i wish not to make assumptions.

Yes. Your coins live in the distributed blockchain. Your wallet is just the gateway to them.

edit: if you turn your Masternode off, you will receive no service fees, obviously.

"Umbrella-drk" ??

I just noticed this "Merge-Mined with: Darkcoin"

Oh !!

Hope they are running MN service fee compliant code...  Kiss

"Umbrella-drk" ??

Ahahahahaha, 'your coins are only as safe as the exchange which holds them' - uh, local wallet with strong password and backups...?

Idiots will spend money on this, and they will deserve what they get.

Also, Resident Evil.

Think about is... Why is enforce off on RC3? Baiting... Most everyone is on .5 or .6 now, right? It has Pimp Hand in it, right? So, when RC4 comes out, Pimp Hand is enabled on .5 and .6 so even those who refuse to upgrade will be on correct fork... The only people on wrong fork will be those who deliberately downgrade to a much older client... These people will then be identified as obvious, deliberate saboteurs.
You're presuming nobody will run a 3rd party built client for some reason?  Pretty faulty reasoning if you think the only clients that exist are the one's published by the dev team.

Mintpal, Bitfinex, Cryptsy, Poloniex etc. will all be on the correct chain.

You will not.

Good luck with your cunning plan!  Grin

Without masternodes there is no anonymity. The only coins that are provably anon (and by this I mean coins that are somewhat more anon than bitcoin) at this point are XMR and DRK. Every other coin is just a lot of promises. XMR has got a lot of barriers to adoption that I won't rehash here -- and DRK uses masternodes.

If there are no masternode payments then there are only a handful of masternodes and the only thing that makes this coin valuable, decentralized anon, is near worthless. So miners saying that they don't like masternode payments = saying that they really want to mine a worthless coin.

Stupidity at its finest.

It's like investing in gold and then complaining that it's heavy and you don't like the colour.  Grin

2219  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | Fork for Masternode Payment on: July 12, 2014, 02:48:53 PM
While looking at the DRK tattoo on my girlfriends ass, I had an ephiny.

With the Master Nodes taking care of the anonymous transactions and having capacity to do other things, why not do snapchat type messaging for android running off the same Master Node infrastructure.

That way you could do anonymous transactions, with discussions that include pictures, video etc.

Q. What's it look like?

A. Wait a minute, I'll send you a few pictures.

Q. How much?

A. 500DRK each one. Available next week. Click to buy now and I'll give you 10% discount.

Q. Great. Click; buy. Bye.

I was surprised when Evan said RC4 was the final anonymity solution for DRK with no mention of I2P. The mastenodes would still need I2P or something like it for distributed private comms.

edit: or the clients. But ideally encyption on all ends.

edit2: an in-wallet IRC type thing that included video streaming, using MN infrastructure, encrypted, with  fees based on MN bandwidth used...?

edit3: use a system similar to masternodeprivkey to sign blocks/hashes so that miners get private comms credits, thus incentivising miners and encouraging hash decentralisation?

It needs to be for android and IOS, that way Google or Facebook will offer $50bn.

Ok, so I guess we need a word from Evan if he thinks this sounds feasible/doable and get a bounty for developers to get it done (as I suspect current DRK team has enough on their hands already). No reason to waste time unless parallel development is impossible imo.

I think a masternode API for 3rd parties to utilise masternodes for whatever they wanted would create a booming ecosystem - charge for usage based on cpu/bandwidth use or whatever, obviously MN resources prioritised in some way to maintain core funtionality.

We will probably have a better idea of just how much horsepower a MN needs when RC4 hits and Darksend+'ing kicks in bigtime.

If I am not mistaken it's the intro of an xxx movie, but yeah, ... Grin
maybe we can get the adult industry to accept darkcoin?

That's why VHS beat Betamax and Blu-ray beat HDDVDHDADD or whatever it was called. Porn is a pretty big market.
