People reaching out to pools, please be nice. If you feel you cannot represent Darkcoin in proper light, then take a step back and ask for others to do it.
This is why I'm not involved. ;-) GP can think what he likes. I just know I'm absolutely NOT the man for that job.

Unless enough people don't update, then we'll just end up with two forks.  Yay... more DRK forking in the near future.
So there are options to stop that.

Enforce, checkpoint to get everyone on the same fork, remove enforce.
I don't see the issue. A fork is natural any time a major block proof revision occurs... The only thing that makes it a problem is when people refuse to update and you end up with more wrong fork than correct fork.

Think about is... Why is enforce off on RC3? Baiting... Most everyone is on .5 or .6 now, right? It has Pimp Hand in it, right? So, when RC4 comes out, Pimp Hand is enabled on .5 and .6 so even those who refuse to upgrade will be on correct fork... The only people on wrong fork will be those who deliberately downgrade to a much older client... These people will then be identified as obvious, deliberate saboteurs.

Read my post again -- I never said XMR uses nodes.  The point was that the only other "solution" which doesn't use masternodes is likely DOA (obviously this is my opinion) because of various barriers to adoption.  DRK is not inferior if merchants don't incorporate cryptonote coins because they are well... for all intents and purposes unusable.  It is "interesting tech" and nothing more.

So you can have the science experiment (or your pick of the various anon scam coins) -- and the smart investors will take DRK and its anonymity supported by masternodes.

RE: forking in RC4:

"New enforcement strategy

Over the last few days we’ve been looking at a few different options to enforce Masternode payments in RC4. We’ve settled on a brand new implementation that is much more simple, yet robust enough to protect the network.

Each round, a winning Masternode is chosen to carry out Darksend transactions. This process is carried out by the individual nodes across the network independently using the masternode election algorithm. This algorithm chooses a winning node for Darksend, but there is also a runner up, third, forth, fifth place, etc.

Utilizing this code, we can make a deterministic list of the “top 10 masternodes” with the winning scores. These will be the same nodes accross the network and they will vote on who they believe should get paid for that round. The winning Masternode will be the one with the most votes (up to 10 votes) and the network will reject blocks not containing that payment entry."

Without Master Nodes, there is no Darkcoin.

Research, then post.

You go straight to ignore for now because you are clearly trying to spread FUD and troll.

On someone's ignore list: Achievement unlocked!

I must have missed the part where I said I thought there should not be master nodes.  Just that they're getting an undue amount of hype and return right now at the expense of miners, and now it's to the point of threatening pool owners (probably in jest, hard to tell).  Maybe it just seems that way since MN implementation is the phase the coin is in right now.  Maybe the return rate will be adjusted downwards at some time.  Maybe there will be enough MNs that supply and demand kicks in and people start dropping them due to lack of profitability.  I don't know, and neither do you.  I do know that scanning this thread you get the impression that DRK exists for MN holders.  Anyone who says otherwise is insulted and added to an ignore list.

You're presuming nobody will run a 3rd party built client for some reason?  Pretty faulty reasoning if you think the only clients that exist are the one's published by the dev team.

I think it is good to challenge. That's how projects evolve and become stronger.

But there is often a fine line between challenge and terrorism. And quite frankly some of you dakrcoin haters are acting like real fucking dicks.

Miners know that the 20% going to MNs does not impact them. It's only trolls and people who generally just don't know how crypto works that argue otherwise.

A reduction of supply == higher price, so they still get the same money when they cash out to pay their electric bill.

MNs are a building block for so much more than what they're being used for right now. They deserve attention. Mining is not exactly a new, innovative concept. There's really nothing to talk about on that front...

He makes no sense... So, uh, someone builds a custom client to defraud the network and fork himself in the ass... That's just a really stupid saboteur that blows up his own house... Cool argument bro, I bet thousands of people are going to write their own defrauding clients that do them absolutely no good... Isn't it a lot easier to just download an outdated client that will also not do any good? A lot less work to still accomplish nothing... Trolls...

That's the same as saying someone could write their own bitcoin client that only awards blocks to themselves at 100 reward per block... Yeah, excellent plan... I'm sure all those blocks will be tops on the chain...

It's the same supply.  Just that 20% is now being cashed out by MN holders instead of miners.  Same supply == same price.  Miners now earn less.

I am an "all in" holder with DRK and not a troll.  Yes, I agree MNs are cool, innovative, and deserve attention.  I'm willing to go along for now, trust in the devs and see where it heads.  My opinion is still the same though and I'm not liking what I'm seeing.

What would you do with your Darkcoins if master nodes did not exist or existed and were so easy to set-up that you couldn't trust them to mix your anonymous coins?
