2222  Economy / Goods / Re: WTT 1oz gold American Eagle Coin on: December 31, 2013, 01:39:09 AM
I think I will hold off. I had the coin check today to make sure it is real and they said it is great condition and a collector would pay around 2k for it. The pawn shop said they would hand me 1200 so I think a 1bitcoin is just a little low. Thanks for the offers.

I'm now interested, the pawn shop said it was worth $2k to a collector? What year is the eagle? And its just in a airtite shown in the picture correct? Its not slabbed/graded?
2223  Other / Meta / Re: hugolp (staff) account hacked? on: December 30, 2013, 10:39:04 PM
How are winners chosen?
"Randomly"
Sure scam

Either hacked or turned malicious

Agreed, my bet would be on hacked though, as I'm sure hugo values his account far more than 0.05 BTC.

Left negative feedback for the sake of safety for the time being until this is resolved.
2224  Other / Meta / Re: prime dice spam bots on: December 30, 2013, 10:10:02 PM
Paid signature spam in general is being discussed. As of now, the spammers whether bots or people just get banned when caught.

Can't you just warn persistent spammers? Seems unfair to punish everyone just because a handful of newbs spam the same crap all the time.

Punish everyone? As of right now, those that are caught spamming are banned. I don't know what the future holds though.

2226  Economy / Lending / Re: I need money for food on: December 30, 2013, 05:24:28 PM
What about rather than convincing them that the USD is going to collapse, and they will starve, convince them to invest in precious metals? You can tell them to buy precious metals because they are at a relative minimum, and that they are a good investment, and then if the USD dies when you think it will, they will still have buying power to get food.

If you buy food, and then what you think will happen doesn't, you are out a bunch of money, and will have rotten food. (Pasta and Vitamins expire)

A lot of people here probably will agree with you that the USD will collapse, but no one knows the timescale for that.

2228  Other / Meta / Re: Can I Deal In TRUST RATINGS? on: December 28, 2013, 11:02:32 PM
Leaving a negative trust rating is often used punitively, or as an instrument of blackmail. Tysat did not suggest he did not to trust me, he promised a negative trust rating.
But this is veering into unconstructive territory.  All i want to learn is the potential negative repercussions of my business.

Possible reprocussions being, you sell trust to scammers who are then able to more easily take advantage of newer members who don't understand the trust system quite as well, more than likely being labled a scammer yourself for doing it, and a lot of hate from the community.

As the trust system is completely unmoderated, if you are asking if you will be banned, I'd guess no. However whoever decided to add trust to you would be immediately pressured to remove you, so like others said, I don't think it would last long, nor would it be a profitable business venture.

In short, and in my opinion, probably not a good idea.

Is next month's payment also set to be 0.10 BTC?
2230  Other / Meta / Re: Can I Deal In TRUST RATINGS? on: December 28, 2013, 10:48:36 PM
Agreed, the trust system is unmoderated so I doubt its against the rules, but good luck getting on the default trust list in the first place if people know you plan on selling false trust to people.

The trust that people give you for the proposed idea, wouldn't be undeserved, it would be based on their own opinion of the "ethical ramifications"

Could you comment on how you would deal with my advertising this service on the forum, regardless?

Nope. You'll find out when it happens.

I'd give you negative trust.

2232  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ALT COIN CRASH] WHAT GOES UP MUST COME DOWN on: December 28, 2013, 03:29:02 PM
+1 if you're going to trash Altcoins do it in the Bitcoin forum - you are in the WRONG ROOM HERE

Nope, this is the right place.

Its a speculation thread, don't see how its spamming.
2233  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [New service] Buy BTC with PayPal and Credit Card on: December 28, 2013, 07:41:49 AM
Curious, how does your payment processor guarentee payout after Paypal takes their money back from them?

If you can figure out a solution to safely sell Bitcoins for Paypal/Credit Card, awesome. However, you really should expect to get burnt accepting reversable payment methods.
2234  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] 1 2013 "Gold Plated B" Silver Casascius Bitcoin on: December 28, 2013, 07:08:43 AM
Actually not really far off at all. They are selling for $3k on Ebay, and 2.5-3 BTC at the moment I believe.

See, it wouldn't be a problem if he just said, I don't like/support gay people or gay marriage, but the reason he got in trouble, was that he worded his phrase... uh so elequently.
2236  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Escrow list: Whitelist Ranking & Blacklist - Must view before sending your coins on: December 28, 2013, 04:46:31 AM
Yeah, I have mandatory tips. Or non-optional tips. Or something like that.

You can also call us the "middle-men" if you don't like calling us "escrows".

If bitcoin is following fiat laws, then it must be considered currency. Which is good for bitcoin. Especially if the US government decides that. However, how about the rest of the world?

I completely agree that going by fiat law isn't correct for Bitcoin, but as we have seen as recently as Mike (Casascius) getting shut down, the U.S Gov is willing to overlook and imply a few things in order to be a pain in the ass. Abiding by fiat laws is partially unnecessary, however if its not a huge inconvience, its the safest way to operate without having someone knocking at your door. And if they do, you can at least say you were trying to do things legally. (That all assuming you are in the U.S)
2237  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Escrow list: Whitelist Ranking & Blacklist - Must view before sending your coins on: December 28, 2013, 01:17:10 AM
I talked to a family friend who is a lawyer in MD, and they told me as long as you are doing less than $50,000 in *escrow deals per year, you don't fall under MSB status that requires a money transmitter license, nor do you have to strictly follow AML laws. However, they told me if I wanted to be safe, to record any transactions above $10k and if I had suspicion that it was being used illicitly, I had an obligation to report it to some AML organization. ($10,000 transactions for neopets codes or something fishy like that, not for mining hardware)

However, I haven't done escrows that large in a while, so I haven't needed to record anything of the sort. Also, that being said, thats in Maryland, not sure how it applies elsewhere.

* She cited Bitcoin escrow as being similar to situations where a friend buys a car from another friend, and will have a mutual friend hold the money for an agreed upon amount of time, to make sure that they have assurance that the car wont fall apart due to an undisclosed issue. There are of course lawsuits available in that senario, however informal escrow is not uncommon. That is if you consider Bitcoin applicable to fiat laws, which assuming so is probably the safest way to stay out of trouble.

I think things change if you charge for your escrow service, depending on location, however if you do escrow for tips, you should be alright, again depending on location. Probably not a bad idea to talk to a lawyer or someone who can give you advice on how to keep yourself legal.

And before you start quoting posts where Josh is messing with people, also be sure to quote the confrontation that has lead up to it.

Post-Edit: If memory serves, I do believe he was being disruptive to the HashFast thread, which resulted in that Derail #3 thread being created.

It certainly does raise an eyebrow when vendors go into other vendors' threads to stir up drama.

I will certainly say that Inaba is guilty of not making the best business decisions in terms of PR. If he is being disruptive, report the posts.
