2221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCP] Counterparty - Pioneering Peer-to-Peer Finance - Official Thread on: February 27, 2015, 07:07:22 PM
I know that you guys have implemented Ethereum but have you considered implementing AT (http://ciyam.org/at) which is actually running *live* already (on the Burst blockchain).

The world's first "decentralised lottery" and "crowdfunding app" has been achieved with this tech in the last couple of months.
2222  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Options for Securing your Bitcoin wallet on: February 27, 2015, 01:08:12 PM
Are there any better ways of generating paperwallets? (ideally not too complicated)

Kind of assumed that offline bitaddress was very secure.

Without any proper peer review I'm not sure why you assumed it is secure (just because others use it?).

The latest version of Bitcoin does display a QR code when you create a new receive address so although not perfectly simple it shouldn't be too hard to print that from an offline computer that is running it (it is simpler when using a console when you have tools such as "qrencode" but I understand that isn't easy for most).
2223  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Creating metacoin for a decentralized exchange? on: February 26, 2015, 07:10:20 PM
Then why should we care?

I don't (as I know it is just crap) but unfortunately they are sucking more and more people into their "prediction market" crap (which is really "newspeak" for "let's steal your money by trying to make you think our snake oil is the real thing").

I suspect that they'll try and evade prosecution by eventually leaving the US and setting up overseas (as others are doing).

To use the terms "USD", "BTC", "gold" and "silver" when there is no such actual underlying asset is "deceitful to say the least".
2224  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Creating metacoin for a decentralized exchange? on: February 26, 2015, 07:01:59 PM
Where are these funds actually (physically if applicable) stored?

Nowhere - as they are just IOUs (no different to Ripple really).

They have been trying to "con" people with the idea that an IOU is just a good as the real thing from day one.
2225  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Creating metacoin for a decentralized exchange? on: February 26, 2015, 06:58:47 PM
BitShares is a decentralied exchange.  The only difference between it and what you describe is it doesn't trade altcoins (yet), just BTC, fiat, gold and silver.

It doesn't trade *actual* fiat, gold or silver just IOUs - or am I incorrect?

(does it even actually trade real BTC - I think not)
2226  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCP] Counterparty - Pioneering Peer-to-Peer Finance - Official Thread on: February 26, 2015, 06:47:07 PM
Why do all the vote links say "rescinded"?
2227  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Creating metacoin for a decentralized exchange? on: February 26, 2015, 04:54:44 PM
The Atomic Cross-Chain Transfer concept which has been implemented using Automated Transactions (AT) and is described in detail here: http://ciyam.org/at/at_atomic.html could end up providing the "lynch pin" for trading across different blockchains (and CIYAM is developing a Token package that could act as the decentralised "market" for this approach).

By using ACCT at least all trades would be "safe" (in terms of the trade being honoured according to the terms of the ACCT algorithm).

I do agree with @Cryddit that most alts are just pump and dump scams (but I doubt they would go to the effort of implementing AT so it might be a refuge from that at least in the short term).
2228  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to delete conflicted transactions? on: February 26, 2015, 03:30:55 PM
Assuming you are using Bitcoin Core (you should always make that clear when asking for help) then you can use "pywallet" to delete the txs from your wallet (assuming this is what you are actually wanting to do).

Be sure of course to back up your wallet before playing with pywallet as you could very easily loose BTC using this tool.

As @Madness pointed out this will have zero affect upon the blockchain - but it will stop your wallet from re-sending the deleted tx (I have had such a situation happen due to an insufficient tx fee).
2229  Economy / Services / Re: AWS VPS services for bitcoins on: February 25, 2015, 05:23:12 PM
So the only "supporter" is another "newbie account" (with an activity count of 22).

That doesn't look good at all.

If you are "legit" then stop being anonymous and show us who you are.
2230  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US Marshals for sale: 50,000 bitcoins on: February 25, 2015, 03:52:17 PM
It would be quite funny if the sale went to an address with the prefix 1USA and then was immediately transferred to 1FUSA...
2231  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: "Ocupy Coin" has a spelling error on: February 25, 2015, 04:27:28 AM
lol ... so they banished you to the altcoin forum with your AT project Tongue

2232  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient HDD Mining | New 1.2.2 Automated Transactions on: February 24, 2015, 06:58:34 PM
Although an AT can work well as a way of distributing funds (within limits of the number of accounts it could do so due to memory constraints) the main issue I see is that AT has little knowledge of what is "going on" within the blockchain it sits on (and this is pretty much by design so it can be "portable" across different blockchains that use different "proofs").

Perhaps we could add some "platform specific" AT API functions to help with this kind of thing but it for now I doubt it is going to be a priority for our team (we are always happy to have others join us if others want to push to get platform specific features provided).
2233  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: "Ocupy Coin" has a spelling error on: February 24, 2015, 06:43:31 PM
So one ad sig poster complains about another ad sig campaign presumably to increase their ad sigs posts.

I guess we should see now many other ad sig posters join in to make this pointless topic carry on for as long as you guys can make some mBTC out of it (let the ad sig pointless postings begin).

Your challenge is to make the most pointless post and see how long it can last before being moderated out of existence. Cheesy
2234  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Automated Transactions (AT) is changing things (despite those trying to stop it) on: February 24, 2015, 04:49:49 PM
So the entire source code for the Crowdfund AT is this:

Code:
FUN @block_height get_Block_Timestamp
SLP $decision
FUN @amount get_Current_Balance
BGE $amount $target_amount :funded
FUN @timestamp get_Creation_Timestamp
refund_loop:
FUN A_to_Tx_after_Timestamp $timestamp
FUN @tx_info check_A_Is_Zero
BZR $tx_info :end_loop
FUN @tx_amount get_Amount_for_Tx_in_A
FUN @timestamp get_Timestamp_for_Tx_in_A
FUN B_to_Address_of_Tx_in_A
SET @funded #0000000000000002
FUN send_to_Address_in_B $tx_amount
JMP :refund_loop
funded:
SET @funded #0000000000000001
FUN B_to_Address_of_Creator
FUN send_All_to_Address_in_B
FUN @timestamp get_Last_Block_Timestamp
end_loop:
FUN A_to_Tx_after_Timestamp $timestamp
FUN @tx_info check_A_Is_Zero
BZR $tx_info :end_loop
FUN @timestamp get_Timestamp_for_Tx_in_A
FUN B_to_Address_of_Creator
FUN send_All_to_Address_in_B
JMP :end_loop

The design is so efficient that after the initial two steps are executed *nothing happens* until the decision block is reached (so it works by doing *nothing* for that entire time).
2235  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Automated Transactions (AT) is changing things (despite those trying to stop it) on: February 24, 2015, 04:30:49 PM
That sounds like where bitcoin should have started, 25 steps is rather impressive(I've written simple calculators with more steps) Can this run on any block chain or just burst?

AT has been designed to work on any blockchain (Burst just happens to be the first one that has implemented AT).

We expect to have AT working on another blockchain (Qora) fairly soon and have created a bounty in order to get it implemented upon a Bitcoin clone.
2236  Bitcoin / Project Development / Automated Transactions (AT) is changing things - find out more here on: February 24, 2015, 04:17:42 PM
Automated Transactions (AT) is a technology created by CIYAM Developers which provides "Turing complete smart contracts" for any blockchain that implements it (http://ciyam.org/at).

Recently the AT developers produced a Crowdfund application that only requires 25 machine code steps (which is ridiculously small) and that is running on a blockchain now (the Burst blockchain). This is the most efficient Crowdfund application in existence - not only is it incredibly efficient but it is also 100% decentralised!

Although we are having troubles with getting any attention (hopefully some smart marketing people will notice this project and consider contacting us) we have already achieved "two world firsts" which we intend to follow up with more ground breaking ATs (which are under development now).

#1 - The world's first completely decentralised Lottery (i.e. no website and no central control) was launched in January 2015.

#2 - The world's first completely decentralised Crowdfunding application (i.e. no website and no central control) was launched in February 2015.

A couple of great tools for those keen to develop their own ATs can be found here (thanks to @burstcoin):

2237  Economy / Economics / Re: Advice on buying a house (Netherlands, Amsterdam) on: February 24, 2015, 11:36:46 AM
One thing I'd perhaps consider is the "floating houses" (assuming there are still homes available).

And when I say "floating" I mean literally floating on water (saw it on a Discovery Channel program some time back).
2238  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: wordpress removes bitcoin payment option on: February 23, 2015, 05:57:30 PM
BS. It's very well tested and proven.

But not currently that "useful" as a payment option (not so easy for people to obtain BTC for a start and then if they spend them they have the problem of irreversible transactions).

The technology works (no-one is doubting that) but at this stage it doesn't really have any advantage to the average person from using a debit card (and in fact is probably much harder to use and more likely that they will lose money to scammers).
2239  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: wordpress removes bitcoin payment option on: February 23, 2015, 05:29:30 PM
The problem is people are too busy hoarding btc than spending it.

And you should ask "why is that?".

The reason is that currently BTC is a great "store of value" and also a great method for "remittance" but it isn't really a better "way of spending" at this stage at all.

2240  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: wordpress removes bitcoin payment option on: February 23, 2015, 05:12:18 PM
I really cant understand how a legendary member of that forum is so stuck in the past and in old payment systems. this is really confusing Tongue
You can really continue using your old loved payment system. Is like my grandmother continue to use only paper money for all his trading.

I am not "stuck in the past" at all (if I was then why I would I have spent over 200 days of my time on this forum?).

All I am trying to point out is some "realities" that I think are often being overlooked in the enthusiasm for what I do think is an incredibly major new technology (but whose purpose at this stage is IMO not well suited to normal payments at all).
