Worried about ASICMINER price decline? Lock in a price. I see a PUT option of 6 shares @2.6 BTC strike for 0.2 BTC premium on btct.co That's a tempting one, that is. Not a bad price - but I just undercut it to 1.9. for now I decided one or two undercuts is worth another PUT 5 @ 2.6 BTC strike for 0.13 BTC premium We're getting some competition on the PUT markets on btct.co (In the past, I've noticed the CALL/PUT offers have been overpriced and many intentionally constructed to deceive naive buyers). The prices were/are so far out, i couldn't decide if it was deception or delusion. Your PUT is tempting, but that was a strong bounce earlier.

Not yet, I will post here as soon as I hear something from Avalon.
I guess they haven't yet cleared all the orders from Feb 18th... From what im reading elsewhere, the order numbers and days seem to be inconsistent with delivery time, so who knows. Im sure it wont be long now.

Who the fuck are you to judge weather. I'm obsessing or calm. If you're that old, you should know better.
You forgot the punctuation. Wait, did he just call me a meteorologist. How rude! That's a side of you that's been duly noted TAT.

Did AM move some hashing power from solo to a pool, or where did this all go? http://www.asicminercharts.com/Or are they moving it all out of the way to get bigger and badder machines in?! I find it slightly odd that no-one seems to know the answer to this. Dont you all think you should know why a significant drop in power is happening within YOUR company? Why is it odd? None of us work for AM, nor are most of us on the board. Shareholders don't typically brood over every little fart a company makes. Be patient young padawan. Didnt realize i was brooding TAT, and ive just looked up the meaning of padawan. Bloody condescending from my view point, considering im probably twice your age. Just saying to stay calm. Obsessing over it won't do any good. I highly doubt you are double my age. Who the fuck are you to judge weather im obsessing or calm. If you're that old, you should know better.

From the current prices on BFL chip coupons ($1 to $2 per chip), I would suggest trading those for something between ($1/100/0.0008 =) 12 to ($2/100/0.0008 =) 25 AMC shares per chip? Thoughts?
Looks good to me. Shall we say 20share/chip? Think this is a good opportunity to raise wider awareness of AMC, and for people who ordinarily would not own shares, to do so.

I've been doing the math on BFL vs Avalon, and the conclusion I'm always arriving to is that buying from BFL is the better choice right now, as: - we get ~2.15x the amount of hashrate (@$50/100 chips) for the equivalent Avalon price;
- the chance for the network difficulty to double (~2.15x) within the extra month of waiting from delivery is very slim;
- we only need to pay 50% upfront, so we can do a much larger order and get the remaining 50% funds from our hardware that goes online until that time.
@VBS, thanks for doing the math, your expertise is most welcome. +1 Likewise.

Any idea on when the next 3 avalons will be coming in?
All 6 were ordered on Feb 18, albeit in two separate batches. The next 3 Avalons should be shipping soon, no? If the sequential numbers of the orders are to be believed/followed, then i estimate within the next 2 days. But hey, there are zero guarantees in mining deliveries, right?!

This debate is both interesting and fun, but why are we debating so hard about the best way to sell more shares if Ken didn't say AMC needed more money ATM ?
"This was just a little test to see how the market reacted to a few shares (~150,000) being sold. We are starting to spin up Avalon boards to get ready for the 20,000 chips we have on order. In the next few weeks there may be a need for increased capital. I am working hard to increase the price of AMC's shares and get the most value from the shares that AMC still holds." Nice pickup there stereotype I try bigdude. I try. Hope you can come on-board, with a mutual agreement with AMC/Ken.

Well the major problem I see with taxing bitcoin income is the same one we have right now. How do you value a coin? so I earned 10 coins today-> this can buy me a nice tv today but tomorrow the same tv costs 15 coins. so I earn 40 coins a month what taxbox does this fit? 45% or 52%? and why am I in a certain taxbox while coins increase or decrease in value?
These rules are already well established because businesses who transact globally deal with this everyday. When you actually dispose of your coins, by selling or spending them, you have to account for the gain / loss on the coins you use. This requires record keeping, which is probably the biggest issue for non-business users. Hopefully the IRS and other agencies will issue simplified rules, but they certainly aren't going to look the other way if you have large gains from any activity. Agreed Pale. What 10c said, is why we pay our officials, to work these things out. At least we have declared something.
|
|
|
But the reptile knows some good saunas he could entertain them in. Those officials like things like that!
He probably already has those officials in his pocket like a handful of satoshis. I think your sig is perfect, in this context!

A quote from the article: Also under consideration was the idea of creating a regulated exchange, which would be the world’s first. Not exactly what we want, but that would sure allow more people to come in as it would add certainty. I mean, there are exchanges that follow regulations now, but I'm sure they are hinting at something more "official"... That quote was closely allied to Max Kaisers announcement of his desire to open a London exchange.

|
|
They can only regulate as far as we allow them to... but I do think if the IRS makes it official and governments accept BTC this would be a bullish sign for mass adoption. and we all know what that means...
They have to accept it. End-of-year business accounts around the world, are being presented to their respective tax offices, with a declaration of this strange new thing called Bitcoin. They need to get with the program, if they are to tax their citizens effectively. If the declarations are sizable, we will start to see some precedents with regards to tax, soon.
