how can a service like ChipMixer use your keys? you don't give them your keys. they are stored on your computer inside your wallet! and what do you mean by "session" that you deleted? You've been advertising ChipMixer for a while now, but it seems you have no idea how it works. I think you should at least test it to know what you advertise. In short: ChipMixer gives you private keys, and ChipMixer has a "session" you can delete when you're done. In my mind, it's looks like Electrum bug, the private keys was imported to the watch only wallet, and after the shutdown wasn't saved. It worked always, hundreds of times.
A watch only wallet, by definition, only holds addresses, and no private keys. My session deleted with the chipmixer, otherwise i can get back my private keys and import again. I take it you didn't make a backup of your wallet? I'd never trust just one hard drive when it comes to private keys. I can't wrap my mind around what happened exactly. A balance can show up on a watch only wallet, but it shouldn't disappear without any transactions. Things just don't add up.

That means the majority of this forum can't write meaningful posts, isn't it? Correct. Out of more than 2 million accounts, less than 1% has received 1 or more Merit points. The majority of users are either spambots or bounty hunters/account farmers with dozens of accounts. Why are they not banned then ? Is it because the forum needs them for some reason or another ? I think it has to do with their large numbers. Many get banned, but many more get created. And real users shouldn't be banned as collateral damage, which means Mods can't just ban 99% of the users. What I'm saying that in the hopes of getting a merit one cannot be normal, but rather spend an expensive amount of mental energy for number three in hopes that maybe they'll get a merit. And something that the majority of people will not be able to do. Due to lack of knowledge on most of the topics, particularly if they're new. Or because they simply do not have the IQ. Or not being a native English speaker. You make it sound as if it is a bad thing that people who don't have knowledge on the subject they're "discussing" can't rank up.

When I tried to enter that into a new bitcoin wallet app called Bither, it asked me for a password. I entered my passphrase from Bitcoin core, yet it doesnt work. Using the same password in different applications is a security risk. Bither asks for your Bither password, not your Bitcoin Core password. Now my question is, in order to transfer the bitcoins, do I need to have them be delivered to my wallet in bitcoin core first? No. Also what can I do about the space issue? I tried pruning, which from what I understand is when you open bitcoin.conf and write "prune" in there. Of course, it didnt work. Enter this: This reduces the blockchain to the last 550 blocks. Including chainstate, it will take less than 10 GB (but still requires downloading the full 190 GB blockchain). I use and recommend Electrum, easy enough to use and learn, and good enough for more advanced use. Should be really easy, since you seem to have your private key already. Just install, and on the very first window to create a new wallet, select the last option "import Bitcoin addresses or private keys". Agreed. I would choose Electrum over Bither too. Also, seems yr private key is compressed... Get the uncompressed key via https://www.bitaddress.org (run offline) and import that. The uncompressed key would lead to another address. Importing the compressed key into Electrum should just work. Unless you're using a SegWit address, in that case you're going to want to read this guide. Now I can start uninstalling that huge bitcoin core nonsense!
Don't dispose of Bitcoin Core for the wrong reasons. Being "huge" makes it not depend on third parties, which is one of the unique features of Bitcoin. I use both Bitcoin Core and Electrum, they both have some benefits.

What did you mean by stating these words "creating graphs manually (pixel for pixel). I thought I answered this question already, but I guess I didn't post it.I literally create the graphs by coloring the pixels one by one with a script. Just have a data, using command (a simple one) on statistical softwares, and results will show up fastly. I think it is very simple procedure, and I can do it very fastly, easily. If you can recommend any open source software that can do this on Linux, running from the command line, with just some numbers as input, I'd like to try it. Unfortunately, I can not retrieve data from the forum (raw data given by @Theymos is not detailed enough for analysis). What do you need? I've scraped enough data to be able to provide you more details if it's something worth doing.

300 good reports 1000 good reports 5000 good reports I like this one most: it's simple and elegant. As much as I like getting Newbies nuked, this looks much friendlier. It could even be extended in the future. For example: 10000 good reports 30000 good reports 50000 good reports

I have been monitoring my unread section and these accounts have posted the same comment and deleted after some time. On the Services board, you can't delete your own post within 24 hours, to stop bump bots. But on a self-moderated thread, the OP can delete all other posts without delay. Thread "management" isn't worth that much money, so it's clearly a bumping/spamming service. At that price, there is no reason so many people would respond to that Service "offer" in 2 days. That means it's his own shill accounts posting in his own thread, and by doing so, he is breaking forum rules. The only problem is I can't prove this. Check the other post. He's blatantly using his own alts to bump his own threads (and farm them in the process most likely) so I think it's likely he'll use them as part of his other service too. As far as I know, that's against the rules and a reason for a ban, right?

They made some interesting comments in their service thread at the time. The owner decided it wasn't a business that they wanted to be involved in any more. Many people had their doubt about the "official" reason for closing Bitmixer. Chances are they wanted to close and spend the rest of their life anonymous with enough Bitcoin, without risking ever getting exposed. From what I've seen, ChipMixer highly values their own privacy. Not many businesses benefit from anonymous owners, but for mixers this prevents government interference. Also, I'd love to have a qr code to scan on the desktop version to be able to send easily when using a different device.
I like this suggestion, but it could be a privacy complication for Tor users.

Merit history page and trust page are not public though. How are you going to achieve it?
Merit history is only a matter of keeping track from the beginning. Although you could argue deleted posts that were merited more than 120 days ago can't be verified through the forum anymore. Good to see the update live! I'll keep track of this thread from now on.

This is a catch that made me attach my mouse to make a full report. Please ban two accounts, a Full Member and a Sr. Member. I love seeing 350 Merit getting destroyed, as that's something the spammers will never get back! This isn't the brightest spambot, copying the same text from 2012 on the same thread less than an hour apart Please ban californiaquail banned! for this copy: This might be a reason to consider a new feature for future Bitcoin clients: the user could optionally provide a wordlist and the client should make sure that newly generated addresses contain none of the words in that list.
Please ban rossr1 banned! for this copy: This might be a reason to consider a new feature for future Bitcoin clients: the user could optionally provide a wordlist and the client should make sure that newly generated addresses contain none of the words in that list.

2. LoiceV Who's that imposter? I'm starting to review and report these members now, thanks for the list LoyceV. Just one thing, it is okay if I managed to report all of this spammers today (assuming that I can)? This would be a lot of work but I will do my part whenever I have free time.
Edit. Whew, they are way too many. Besides from LoyceV's list, whenever you visit a thread where one of these spammer posted, you'll be amazingly surprise to see that there are still a lot of them. I'm now also reporting every spammer with posts such as "Great project, Good project etc" even though it's not included in the lists.
You can spend as much time as you want on it, but the amount of spam is more than anyone can handle. Be careful not to "burst report" now, and quickly give up on it later. That's also the reason I don't care about a post like "great project" getting deleted. The account has to be banned to have even a small effect on the amount of spam. Same with the 500-user lists that LoyceV posts. Ideally we would want some sort of constantly-updated alphabetical list, e.g. in the second post of your thread, but that sounds like a full time job. If this CLUB idea takes off, I can just as well allocate a certain number of accounts in my long list to a certain user. If they get handled: great! But if they don't get handled, there isn't much lost, as they'll pop up again in the next spam run. 1. @ LoyceV, all the lists should be send in PMs and I'll be the only one to post them here to avoid the double work. Is email okay with you too? PM is limited at 64000 characters, and if you're going to sort them out anyway, it's easier for me to email them. The lists will still be in BBcode format, so easy to paste into a forum post. Alternatve: something like pastebin, but that one is still restricted to 500 kB.

Okay... So account trading invites Neg; but account loaning or sharing is a rational act? I don't think it matters much. He's at -24 now, more red trust isn't going to change anything. I'm kinda waiting for aTriz to receive 2 more Merit somewhere, that would be evil.
|
|
|
Big drawback is that LoyceV's script cannot search for homographs. I have to hunt them manually.
I can search for them, but only for Newbies and it's more work. If you want me to search for them, can you make a list of common words and show the both the homograph version and the HTML equivalent? Example: wаllеtIf one word has different variations, post them all. I'll continue downloading new patrol pages next week, I'm not online much at the moment. But feel free to use this time to collect them for me.

Meanwhile, I have a corrupted database that needs fixing (since I'm away from my high spec machines for a while).
In the time since you've created this thread, my old i3 (with Linux and enough RAM) could have synced the entire blocktime around 10 times. Why don't you just start it and see how long it takes?
|
|
|
If somebody has an idea for some kind of tool...please share It would be good if they can just be banned for using very bad English. It often obvious the language is machine-made, but very hard to show conclusive evidence. I'd say that doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt.
|
|
|
Would reporting such disguised posts would also result in users getting banned? I certainly hope so! Not only are they copying someone else's work, they also alter it because they know what they're doing isn't allowed. The next and even more annoying step is adding a homograph attack to the text. WTF? Excavators? I get that it's sort of a synonym for "miners", but these types of posts just make me slap my head. It's an automated system that replaces words by synonyms. It's very annoying, and a spammer's response to getting caught with plagiarism. In the bounty campaign I've managed, it started with just copy/pasting, but quickly "evolved" into synonyms and homographs when they realized they didn't get away with it. It largely increased my work load, I spent much more time finding cheaters than reading real content. And that's the problem: it's very little effort to create, and a lot of work to catch.

What is my plan and how this will work? Our fellow member LoyceV will drop some accounts for manual review here I will? Well, that does sound like me: I drop those lists everywhere around Meta nowadays If theymos likes the idea can give the club some sort of a reward in form of custom title like spam reporer or something without real value to avoid the potential abuse. That's not needed, and I don't think it will happen.
#JOIN Reported Good project. Reported
I too will be busy the coming days, but I can drop you guys some work load. The only "problem" is that I've collected patrol-data for 2 weeks now, and many accounts have been reported in other threads. If I use the same data again, chances are you'll be double work, and many bad posts could have been deleted already. I'll limit myself to the past 4 days of data. Prepare to join the most boring team ever If you guys are serious about going over their post histories, you'd better have a good division of labour before starting, to make sure the same account isn't checked by more than one person. And if you report someone to be banned, make sure to type that in the Report field. Just deleting one post is barely worth the effort. I'll start with a classic, Newbies who posted good project: 1. zanjerbits 2. faccariera 3. SAMARTH99 4. faison912 5. sanjib9589 6. phamvancuong13 7. peermohdshaikh 8. karemmohsen 9. There's no need for red trust if the account has been locked already. Unless you want it as a warning to others, so I'll do it anyway. OP asked me to remove my red trust (on his locked account), as it's damaging his reputation. It wasn't needed in the first place, so I've replaced it with a neutral tag. Requesting DT members to provide negative trust as soon as possible and keep the rating until I recover my account. You may want to change this request too.

I hope that Jet Cash wont put me on ignore for uploading this image...
You are likely falling into over-worried about Jet Cash, who is prestigious, contributive member of the forum. However, he/ she is just one of the forum member and - of course - you should not pay too much attention on what this guy will react with your threads. You're clearly missing the sarcasm in his post.

number of posts per board I especially miss this feature. It was a great way to quickly decide whether or not a user's posts could be what I'm looking for. I used this when managing giveaways, if a user for example mainly posted in Games and Rounds, he didn't qualify.
