2241  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase Accounts Hacked Threads on Reddit? on: May 14, 2021, 02:57:53 PM
Any popular custodial wallets are prone on hack and that isn't new to me when someone got hacked due to their carelessness.  It's our responsibility to protect our account if we used this custodial wallet, it must double or triple the security level of your account from utilizing strong 2FA and must have a secure email and of course creating a strong password.

However, you can monitor the activity of your Coinbase account, (https://www.coinbase.com/settings/account_activity) if there is any suspicious login or any device that linked or associated with your account, that's the time that you immediately change your email or password.  This is the first preventive step of protecting your account against hackers and does take your account security to the next level.

Now what about people who send their coins to coinbase vault for storage?  If that happens, do accounts still get hacked?  I heard if you keep coins there, you cant withdraw for two whole days... so wouldnt that mean if a customer got hacked, they could then contact coinbase within that time period so hacker can't withdraw during that time frame?  But the other issue is doesnt coinbase take a while to reply back to emails and thus by that, the hacker could have got into the account?
I think you already answered your question and in the first place, how can a hacker surpass your 2FA security level and get the code or email access.
But if that's will happen that someone can withdraw your fund from the vault, you can simply cancel the withdrawal once you notified of the activity.  And here is what you need to read Coinbase Help regarding that matter.
2242  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: What is the Wallet Address and where do I get it or find it? on: May 13, 2021, 11:52:29 PM
I dont know which wallet or wallet is the name of the wallet that you wanted to use.  But I think they have almost the same feature that a "Recieve" and "Send" tab/button.

In the "Recieve" tab on your wallet, you find out there the wallet address, most commonly it's a QR code, and below you can copy the address.  And in the "Send" option, that's the option you can transfer your fund into other wallets.

I suggest you have research on Youtube for a video tutorial of which wallet you have used, remember that cryptocurrency transactions are irreversible and it means you can't undo the transaction once you hit the send button.
2243  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Anyone here use blockchain.com? on: May 13, 2021, 11:39:55 PM
As I suggest, avoid using this wallet upon buying crypto, they are very buggy wallets and have a lot of complaints here on the Bitcointalk forum.
It seems they also had poor customer support and you're very lucky once they answered you (but that's rare).

Try to use other exchanges platform that has a quick service of buying cryptos, not this blockchain.com, even though using them as a wallet isn't advisable.

Just try to search here on this board, you will find out there are too many of you who are almost the same problems.

2245  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Lost Blockchain password on: May 11, 2021, 11:44:21 PM
If no luck I will give the brute force a try and see how it turns out
If you don't remember the password correctly the last option could be this brute force process of recovering your blockchain wallet, just follow the Youtube video given above, and might you will succeed if it is correctly followed.  As long as you have your email account there will be a chance.

I tend to agree above that keep try guessing your password if you are not generating a password from a password generator, it might have a chance that you will guess it through the most common password that you've used.

Once you've successfully recovered your fund there, quickly transfer on the non-custodial wallet just like Electrum which is very common but you have control over your key.
2246  Economy / Economics / Re: Causes of downtown in the modern Economy on: May 11, 2021, 03:15:35 PM
Lowering the interest rates and loose monetary policy could either make or break the economy.  We should always consider that with the highest volume, decisions made could affect the result big time and these two for me aren’t the solution to grow an economy.

The best way to aid the economy is to establish the ecosystem first.  This would only happen once we have our leaders with the highest intelligence and masters their emotion, leadership, and analytical skills.

It’s just sad that it really is hard to tell what solutions must be there to grow an economy or at least recover.  But for now, what I can say is that the best way to keep the economy up is to help people recover first by aiding them with vaccines so they can begin again.
2247  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mark Zuckerberg named his goat Bitcoin on: May 11, 2021, 02:49:21 PM
Is this a sign that Facebook will start buying Bitcoin for their balance sheet?
I doubt it but let's see what will happen next.

IMO, as an SEC duly registered and a publicly listed Company Executive, might this is the best way to avoid being penalized by the government even doing things that might be against their regulation.   Like what the hell?  Surely Mark Zuckerberg is trying to pass a message to the public just like Elon Musk but in a less obvious way.

Mark Zuckerberg was supposedly joining the cryptocurrency but the U.S government stopped him from having a big partnership with the cryptocurrency founded in Belarus/Switzerland called Libra.  If that one came true, we could have been flying to the moon since 2019, isn't it?
2248  Economy / Economics / Re: I feel the report about UK economy losing 700 billion is wrong!!! on: May 11, 2021, 02:38:12 PM
Let’s say that the report is accurate or false but the point that the UK was able to vaccinate almost the majority of their people is enough to bounce back in the next 10 years.  Indeed that vaccination is expensive but the rate UK was able to reach is enough to control the virus and make the economy work again and we will soon see people back on their tracks, I can tell that with strong conviction.

I really believe in the management the government was able to execute on this pandemic.  It’s actually a starting from the bottom now we’re here concept that the UK was actually one of the worst affected countries into the highest rate of vaccinated people.
2249  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin milestone from video game currency to corporate reserve currency in ten on: May 11, 2021, 02:17:54 PM
I think the $100 debt to be converted to Bitcoin must be in the news as that fund is too controversial to be moved out from dollars to Bitcoin and I think this one before we make healthy arguments should at least have one source of information. (A simple website link will do).
I just wonder if this is true, how the heck did this company able to lend $100M in the bank and have the guts to publish that it will be converted to Bitcoin.

But going back, Bitcoin is actually a good alternative to be considered as a reserve.  As people always said, (I mean all of the professionals in finance), Bitcoin is inevitably growing and will stay there especially when nodes are flown to space.  So it might this is the best time to say that Bitcoin Community wins it.
2250  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Snowden I own more bitcoin than anything else—but on: May 10, 2021, 03:53:01 PM
I don’t really think that privacy has to be fixed here and I don’t think that the fungibility of the cash offers is missing in Bitcoin.
In Bitcoin, the value you spend is indiscriminate to the extent that it is way beyond cash.

Cash will be traced, and soon once the financial institutions summons the person who owns it, they will then question the personality of him/her and ask where did they earn that cash.  Like who the hell would say cash can stop indiscrimination?

IMO, it might the only agenda of this guy and why he publishes these statements is the frustration he has when he lost his cryptocurrencies.  Just my two cents!
2251  Economy / Economics / Re: bitcoin for everyone on: May 10, 2021, 03:06:59 PM
I think distributing it equally is the right idea here and for that, it would disregard and insult the services, skills, and products that others build in order the earn their own stuff.

I think the best thing to do here to give everyone an even distribution that would help them startup their path but not all of the cryptocurrency evenly distributed.  In that way, people will have a chance to change or ruin their lives as it would depend on how they would spend their cryptocurrencies.

IMO, I don’t think everyone deserves Bitcoin to be in their possession.  Unless people would give proper advice and teach them how to handle it and that's the only way we have.
2252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: it's hard to sleep because of thinking about something on: May 10, 2021, 02:34:53 PM
Worried about missing out on valuable moments to profit from short-term trades in easily-pumped altcoins.
Many people say short-term trading is too time-consuming, and it turns out to be true
How to deal with a situation like this, can you guys give me suggestions and input?
Yes! I tend to agree.
This is a disorder that attacks people who overthink before they go to bed.  Before I really hate it when I go to bed, I try to sleep, and even if I'm tired I just couldn’t help myself to relax and catch asleep, but then, I learned how to remove that sickness.

One of the best ways to stop insomnia attacks is to sign tasks daily.  Having your lists of the things you should within the day will make you feel accomplished and we've to accept that most of the time, the reason why we couldn’t sleep is that we left things undone by the of the day because of our procrastination.  Then we start to blame the things that we can’t control.  Empower our weaknesses, and the end result is, you hate your life and you are unhappy, unproductive.

So it might, reversing that mindset would help you find a peaceful sleep consistently.
Just try it once, and thank me later.
2253  Other / Meta / Re: [TOP-200] The most generous users giving merits on: May 10, 2021, 02:10:19 PM
That's a great update Coin-1, it's a lot of effort that you've done compiling those names.

I received notification from the Telegram bot earlier this day while at work and good to see I belong to that list.  The thing that comes up in my mind that for sure those merit sources will always lead the way.

I have a suggestion if you don't mind, I didn't familiarize who are those merits source members that included on your list.  It seems good if you will indicate right beside the user's name the word "Merit Source" to determine that they're a member of our merit sources.
2254  Economy / Economics / Re: The Biden Tax and Spend Plan & The Big Cycle Swing on: May 10, 2021, 01:52:15 PM
Biden’s Tax Plan is more likely political stuff, IMO.
Like yes, Biden is a democrat with massive Public Relations and this plan would make him look like a good person to the fools.

However, I don’t really like the idea of punishing the big businesses, making them pay more taxes, and then so on, once a business made something illegal to avoid taxes, they would penalize it more like slaves.

These businesses also strive and make decisions that most of the employees couldn’t handle.  That’s why their job and what they do are being rewarded by their earnings, but that is not always the case.  Well, I just wanna say good luck to the U.S Economy, I think they are trying to make the people even and there will be a time that no one would be doing business anymore and stay as employees instead.
2255  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What's the mechanism behind pumping? Profiting in both BTC & altcoin possible? on: May 10, 2021, 01:24:05 PM
Any idea on what behind the screens going on?
IMO, it’s not the manipulation Elon Musk did but we should also recognize the effort of Dogecoin’s team to convince Elon Musk to Promote the coin.

We should know the idea that most of the products we have today, we were influenced by the people we trust, admire and idolize and buy whatever that product is. And they are being paid for it.

Dogecoin’s team on the other hand was able to convince the richest man in the world to promote their coin and get more adoration they deserve and it worked.  I don’t think this has to be pointed to Elon Musk but we have to congratulate the good work of the team behind the meme coin.  They are the true players who nailed it.  Not Elon Musk as he could earn anywhere and anytime using his influence.  Just imagine him being able to sell thousands of caps because of the boring company.  That’s how he works naturally.
2256  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How much can you predict this sh*t?! Or is it pure gamble? on: May 09, 2021, 03:45:00 PM
What causes prices to go up? What causes them to go down? Obviously, no one knows for certain when it would happened, but has there been a consistent "pattern" lately? When prices have gone down, have you known to a reasonable degree than they would bounce back up? How?
If there is one trader who knows to predict this stuff or the market price movement accurately, it might be that trader is the richest man in the crypto space.  The crypto market price isn't predictable or unpredictable, there's no way to know the future result even though people trying to have strategies on it (FA or FA analysis).  By the way, I'd to tell you that the price will go down if it goes down, there's no infinite Bitcoin always on the high price, and also know that you can't control its movement.

You need more practice in trading and meanwhile knowing that trading is a sort of gambling.

Hey mate, welcome to the Bitcointalk forum and I hope you will enjoy staying here.

First, there are 4 sticky topics in this section and I think that will very helpful for you to read before start posting.
It does seem to be pretty fun hanging around here sometimes.
You've got it right there mate, it's not only by fun and also a knowledge that you will learn while staying in here, focus on technical boards which give you further knowledge towards Bitcoin and Blockchain technology.

I would like to introduce myself as a privacy and security advocate, although an amateur one, and so my top priority today is getting my profile up and running with maximized privacy settings.  For this reason, before I start my Bitcoin Talk adventure, I would like to politely ask for some tips concerning my forum account settings
A newbie rank has a lot of restrictions, I suggest you surpass that level, is to purchase a Copper Member account.

Good luck and see you around.
2258  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: WHAT IS A CRYPTO WALLET on: May 08, 2021, 02:07:26 PM
What is a 'pallet on airgapped devices'? I haven't heard of it.
Devices can be used as a hardware wallet that never connected to the internet.  For example, I bought a smartphone and install an Electrum wallet shared with another device offline.  Air-gapped means that where a device or a system becomes fully disconnected from the internet so that hackers will not easily access your private key, any wallet that working online might prone to hacks and malware infections.

Back to the OP's wallet suggestion, what is Chilly wallet.  I have done small research but I've never found it.

It seems OP didn't have enough knowledge of Bitcoin wallets.  Here is a [BIG LIST] Hardware wallets (80+) that you can choose from.
2259  Other / Meta / Re: Spending smerits as you earn them. on: May 08, 2021, 01:43:36 PM
I am bumping this thread just to say that, curiously, I seem to be earning more merits lately. I don't know if it's a streak or what. In the 8 days so far in May, I've earned about 30 merits, that's 15% of the total I've earned in 9 months. I hope this will take hold as I gain more knowledge and become a better poster, so that I won't notice so much that lack of smerits to send.
Good for you and you deserved it mate, I sometimes saw your post and I say, not bad.  Keep it up and keep it motivated through your informative posts and someday you will never know and said, "oh I'm now Sr. member rank".  Cheesy

I tend to agree if you will apply as a merit source, it seems you're very active in the gambling section and that section doesn't have enough merit sources to visit and it might distribute some good posters there.

Theymos has not adjusted the source merit allocations in a long time, and has not appeared to have adjusted merit sources in a long time, even as merit sources have become inactive.
That is why I feel like he may reallocate the merit distribution since there is no changes were made in that area for a very long time and also as you said some merit sources that becomes inactive needs to be filled with new merit sources or reallocations or certain boards and sections will ran out of merits for sure no matter how good those posts are.
Inactive merit sources should be replaced with a new one, IMO.

I don't know what is the process of sending smerit per merit sources but it seems sending 20+ smerit in one post isn't looking good, it might reasonable if that 4-5 smerit in one post, my question is, are they tired of distributing on it?

Edited:

Congrats! finally, you've ranked Sr. Member.
2260  Economy / Speculation / Re: At this bullish season, bullish person is always right? on: May 07, 2021, 04:00:10 PM
From what we all see, even a coin that we thought a garbage coin, pumps and generates billions of volume, and not only that, it made people profitable. What I'm referring to is the DOGE coin, I thought Bitcoin would be the most profitable but it seems like people are making money from the craze of DOGE.
Please don’t be offended but it seems like you are underestimating DogeCoin but don’t think that is a good one.  With all due respect, Doge has established its reputation being one of the pioneer altcoins in the cryptocurrency world.

Dogecoin has been there since the first bull where people who do not believe went it because of the Fears of missing out.  The reason why they won is that they were able to execute their job consistently, compared to good coins with meaningful projects but execution failures.

The reason why DOGECOIN is great is that it has a well-founded or established community that supports each other financially, intellectually, and morally. You should join the community first before you judge DOGE and additionally, supported by influencer person, Elon Musk.

Just because DOGE COIN’s name and inspiration were a meme doesn’t mean they perform poorly as a cryptocurrency.  Please check the Doge coin’s system.  You will see how established and better they are with others with meaningful projects but very poor executions.
