Darkcoin suffers from a bad methodology to achieve anonymity and it's put everything into this one basket.

Sorry to hear you lost faith in the project. Also, sorry you're going to be getting out at a horrible time (right before I announce I have EVERYTHING figured out to make Darkcoin mainstream?).

Over the past couple of days, I've made huge leaps in the Darksend technology. In fact, RC4 will be the final solution to Darkcoin's anonymity. The client will automatically look at all of your funds and it will be able to tell which funds are not anonymized, if it finds non-anonymous outputs it will run them through a darksend with other clients. After that process, users can send without Darksend using the anonymous outputs for instant transactions without waiting for other nodes (with no upper limit on transaction sizes).

The other thing you're missing is that there is a reason I forked Bitcoin. Adoption for Darkcoin will be MUCH faster and easier for vendors, because all of the APIs are the same.

Expect more news in a few days. I have lots of work to do, but soon we can start testing all of this new functionality.
This seems great at first blush, but won't there will be an issue with Darksend transaction liquidity over time? I mean, all transactions should be Darksent even if they don't need it so that there is the highest Darksend related activity on the blockchain. You want to maximize those confusing redenominated transactions flying around to make things as foggy as possible. Enabling a one-time sterilization process is bad because it makes it harder from a liquidity perspective for other (especially larger) transactions to be anonymized. The proposed RC4 diagrams from a few days back (i.e. two stage masternode transactions) seemed dialed in just right. Am I missing something?

If your money is already on multiple anonymous addresses... It's pre-privatised. Essentially it's dark sent before darksending it.
But you don't want to make Darksend a rare, one-time event for your money. You want it mixed with others money always to enable anonymization of new money. Otherwise you get a chicken and egg scenario (i.e. awesome Darksend network build out with nobody feeling like they need to Darksend because they sterilized already, so new money has to wait a long time to be Darksent). Everybody should be using the Darksend format to keep liquidity up.

I think the point is that you don't need to 'use darksend' - the masternodes will be kept busy anonymising everyone's coin as an ongoing process, so you'll only ever be sending already untraceable coin.

Does this not render masternodes redundant?

edit: no, because non-anonymised coin is darksent automagically...

Well the saddest thing about it is only the ones with a conscience would end up doing something like this. The sociopaths who care of nothing except profit would never kill themselves because that's all they actually care about. So in essence, the douchebags keep trucking because they never actually cared anyway.
Yes an no. But remember the guy killed his girlfriend... that's not "conscience" in my book, but really high sociopathy as I would expect from a banker...
"doing god's work"... and stuff like that...

These people are being bumped off. Very few people commit suicide by jumping off high rise buildings or nailgunning themselves in the head...

'Wizard' lol reminds me of 1997. Isn't enough hatred piled on the wizard yet that they can change the installer name?

Mac version plsx./

What are you suggesting instead of wizard?

Angel !   Kiss

We should ask Jessica Alba to make a cameo appearance during the install.

Nobody spreads FUD like Langley!

What's the objective of the "FUD" out of interest ? - to scare banker personnel into keeping quiet ?

LOL, I'm not privy to the Illuminati high council, but anyone who can do basic arithmetic knows the whole financial system is a joke that can't last forever - my guess is that keeping people quiet for as long as possible fits the current masterplan, whatever that might be.

It's actually pretty impressive just how much mass delusion can be relatively easily sustained, humanity on the whole ain't that bright.

I think if I worked in IT networking at JP Morgan I'd be checking out the "Ice Caves in Antarctica" real estate market real quick.

LinkedIn just removed his record which was still up an hour ago. Standard profile - IT networking chief, worked in City of London, then US, JP Morgan etc.

xpool.ca ?

xpool.ca mine other coins to pay DRK.
and drk`s when it is the most profit coin.
They are updated.

Yeah we mine DRK when it tops the profit charts. I also posted a block explorer link in that darkcointalk thread.

Cheers!

Stupid question about your 'shifts' - if I point my GPUs your way do they only hash certain hours a day or 24/7?

24/7. each algo is always mining profitable coins and exchanged. The shifts will eventually be a set period of time like 24 or 12 hours ideally. There just need to be more miners so there is enough coins mined and exchanged to make it worthwhile. So right now the shifts are 24-48 hours.

Thanks for the explanation. Smiley

Got a MN or two? Donating your fees to feed the world? Come on, greed is good: Its a currency, not charity.

Got 4.6. 10% of them, yes. It's a currency, not a business. Wink
2254  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | Fork for Masternode Payment on: July 09, 2014, 08:16:18 PM
And a serious question to Evan.

Would it be possible to extend the # of participating MNs via a configurable user option to enhance anonymity past Ring Sig levels?

MN = 0 ; Normal Transaction
MN = 1 ; Current mode
MN = 2 ; Darksend+
MN = 3 ; Darksend++
MN = 4 ; Good luck NSA
MN = 5 ; OKTHXBAI

Are we concerned about bloat in this case? Too complicated for average Joe to use in GUI?

Yes it's possible.  No, the way he would do it wouldn't cause a lot of bloat.  Nor would it complicate the UI.
WOW! Sorry if this was supposed to come as an announcement later as we have not seen anonymity "levels" configurable option discussed before, but thanks for the reply. That changes everything as far as transaction obfuscation was compared to CN/Ring Sigs. I think I do remember however that Evan decided to stay away from a Ring Sig port, must have been due to bloating concerns.
Similar comment, but, with an addition that I think an additional fee should be due for super-deep anon. The added fee also helps obfuscate since it makes the input and output not match up even more. Pay this to the MNs explicitly? Since the miners aren't the ones making it happen?

Masternode concept is awesome. Beats the hell out of any PoSA notion for this reason alone.

Well, the only problem I have with this is that it makes it more expensive (in relative terms) for normal people to access the best security possible, which I think runs counter to the objectives of the project.

Even if we made it so that the sender's wallet balance triggers higher fees, it's simple enough to move DRK around.

This all assumes, of course, that it would be selectable or optional in the first place, which, like I said, may or may not be the best way to do it.

Monkey, makes money, makes the world go round.

Pay up for a quality service.

Hmm, I disagree with charging extra for something that's essentially expected core functionality. Like banks charging customers extra for every little thing that should really come free as part of the package.

I'm sure there are tangential services that masternodes can provide that can be monetized, but an 'anonymous' currency should be anonymous for everyone IMHO.

Creating a some-of-us-are-more-equal-than-others setup will also be absolutely horrible PR.

Sorry to lower the elevated tone of the thread with mere miner talk, but if anyone hasn't tried it, PIMP with the 14.6 drivers is pretty sweet.

Finally got intertubes connected to my combined armoury/gym/mining basement today after the house move, feels good to be hashing again. Plus it was kind of chilly down there. Smiley

On windows I think you use 'setx', stick these at the beginning of the batch file you use to launch the miner:
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1

Should I edit C:\Program Files (x86)\Miner\Simple GPU Miner\sgminer ?

Currently, C:\Program Files (x86)\Miner\Simple GPU Miner\sgminer has start.bat as:

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100 setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1 sgminer -k darkcoin -o http://elitter.net:7903 -u Xqtkkpugx3voWqFrwrUF8op6xbwLAJo1zX -p p -o http://q30.qhor.net:7903 -u Xqtkkpugx3voWqFrwrUF8op6xbwLAJo1zX -p p -I 13 --balance

... although my wallet address is XhBQPDWwqR4opAXtsuu7fYLXGhLotgnV8J

Should I change the .bat to reflect my correct wallet address?

YES. Otherwise anyhing you mine will go to someone else's wallet!

Ok I've made the change but now when I run GPU Coin Miner the black cmd box does not appear, wtf.

Check your syntax carefully!

Technically the 9.11.6/10.11.6 builds are not official as they haven't been merged into the the project's code base yet.  As soon as that happens we'll get all of the websites and the OP updated.

Thanks for the heads up. Can you tell me if this is legit? I'm GPU mining using the guide found here: http://www.reviewoutlaw.com/how-to-mine-darkcoin-gui-friendly-simple-way-mining-dark-coin/ but am getting these errors when the cmd window first pops up: "WARNING: GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT is not specified!" ... and...  "WARNING: USE_SYNC_OBJECTS is not specified!" It says <avg> ~1.4 Mh/s, which has been increasing ( MSI Gaming R9 290X). I just want to make sure I'm not getting ripped off or running inefficiently, as I'm new to mining, new to dark, etc. Here's a screenshot of the complete picture: http://imgur.com/ST7csra

GPU is only at 68 degrees Celcius so maybe I need to Allocate more GPU? If so, is there a .conf or .bat file I need to adjust somewhere?

Again, I'm a noob, so I could be doing something real stupid here!

 Sorry to burst your bubble but Wall Street, Big Banks, and Governments are in charge now and will continue to be.

And attitudes like yours are the reason why they are in charge.

Pathetic.
